He is sort of a goof, but he has made even the most stubborn of old ponies smile with his great attitude. Back Story: Born in the mountains near Ponyville, Ember rarely met other ponies his age, save for the few that came along with their parents to the family shop. Ember's Parents, Dynamite Blast and Fizzle Fuse, were also Pegasus, but didn't take the usual job of maintaining the weather. Instead they helped Equestria ponies with mining and demolition, making their own TNT and other explosives. They sold these items to the miners for a small fee, to help pay with construction of more, and along with the general store, they made an honest living. One day, as Ember was exploring the mountains he called home, He heard a loud BANG!, which came from the homestead. He rushed back to find the place engulfed in flames, and his parents nowhere to be found. He rushed off to Ponyville to find any help he could, but as they arrived to his home ready to help, the entire are was black with ash and soot. For three days the ponies looked for his Parents, to see if they were alive or...worse, but no signs of them, or their bodies, was ever found. Ember sat there, crying, wishing for his parents to come back, for days on end. He was eventually taken to the orphanage, where he continually studied every and any form of explosive and flammable material there was, to make sure something like this never happened again. By this time, Ember's Cutie Mark finally showed itself, a small ball of flame. By the end of his years at the orphanage, a strange pony with striped markings walked into the orphanage, with a hooded cloak shrouding her. All of the others cowered away, but Ember stood his ground, never afraid of new ponies. The hooded pony walked up to him and talked in a strange way. "Hello young pony fit and strong, Your parents were alive, all along." She proceeded to give Ember a small envelope, and before Ember could even ask her name, she was already gone. Ember looked at the front of the envelope, and tears ran down his face. On the front read "To our dearest son, Ember." He opened the envelope as fast as he could, and read the note inside. "Ember, I know we haven't been around all these years, but believe us when we say we wanted to be there for every moment. There was an explosion from a faulty bundle of dynamite, and it knocked us both unconscious. When we came to, we were in the home of a Zebra, living in the Everfree Forest. We've been here, grievously injured from the blast, but The Zebra has been taking care of us. Her name is Zecora, and she's the reason we're still alive. Only recently have we even been able to move our hooves, much less write, and we feel terrible for just leaving you, but Zecora has been watching you, and has told us how you have grown into a great pony. We hope that we will be able to move our bodies soon, we want to hug you for every year we missed. Ember sat for a moment, tears of joy on his face. His parents were still alive! He regained his senses and flew out the door, towards the everfree forest. He finally found the home of Zecora, and almost blew the door off it's hinges. Inside, he saw his parents, laying in beds, all wrapped up, but still alive. Their eyes all locked onto each other, and he ran up to them, crying, hugging them until it hurt. It was a touching reunion. As he reached age 19, he was living with Zecora, helping take care of his parents. They were able to move their bodies now, albeit slightly. But they were healthy enough to be on their own. As they finally left the Zebra's Home, Ember gave a huge hug to Zecora, thanking her for everything She had done. Ember's parents settled down in Ponyville, and now teach the young fillies about fire safety over at the schoolhouse. As for Ember? He has started his own Fire Brigade, and continually watches the town for signs of fire, ready to spring into action to help others, whenever that may be. Now that is one helluva wall of back story.... |
