So what's everypony listening to?

I'm listening to power metal (3 inches of blood) and might follow it up with some technical death metal or progressive.

I've been up all night listening to a friend's remix of Soft Cell's "Sex Dwarf." It's chopped up and squeals in certain parts and there is a fairly huge scream part in the middle, but I can't stop listening to this.

Then again, I'm usually up all night anyway. Princess Luna, thanks for the company.

I prefer power and epic metal. My favorites are Sonata Arctica, Luca Turilli, Rhapsody of Fire, Nightwish and Kamelot. I also like a bit of Thy Majestie, Angra, Gamma Ray, Blind Guardian and Nocturnal Rites.

I'd really like to expand a bit, but it's a bit difficult to wade through it all and find something I'll really like.

Yeah it can be hard to find metal that really clicks with you.
If you like power metal I suggest 3 Inches of Blood. Look up the tracks Deadly Sinners and Destroy the Orcs.

Progressive fits my taste a bit more, though. Quo Vadis, Animals as Leaders, Cynic, Opeth. And Radiance. Radiance has only released one album, but it's easily one of my favorites of all time.

Radiance, you mean?

I feel like I need to advertise it at every chance I get because I love it so and it's so unknown, despite the artist being a Celestia Tier musician.

Also if you search "Radiance - The Burning Sun" on youtube you'll get results there as well.

i prefer the general diirection of european power metal on the whole, though i do like iced earth. I listened to "destroy the orcs", and the shrieking gets old really fast. Currently listening ot Stratoivarius and Pathfinder.

Awww you don't like the vocalists? I love the high pitched singing. It's so entertaining to listen to.
Stratovarius are good. I think my favorite album is Episode because the guitars are so awesome.

I liked the one guy who shrieked less decently enough; had a bit of that Ripper Owens thing going on, but by the time they had finished with the choruses(I have to admit the repetition of "kill the orcs slay the orcs destroy the orcs" gave me a bit of a chuckle), i was really done listening.
