So I was bored and looking around the non-board pages of the site, and you know what I think we need... an FAQ page! :P
there are actually a number of questions that seem to pop up that might work; namely:
>what are we all on about
for all them silly new converts
>What's the deal with names and tripcodes
maybe have the handy links as well
>Where is the name generator?
cause it keeps getting lost :P
>What time and channel is the show on, and where can I find stream links
throw down a couple time zones, and suggest the episodes board... although I'd recommend if this type of thing gets added in there's some kinda disclaimer against doing illegal things =)

and some other useful non-pony related stuff, like who to contact for site issues, what the boards are for, maybe what wordfilters are active, idk

any thoughts or ideas?

I second this. A more in-depth FAQ is an awesome idea.

Q: How can you like a show for little girls?
A: "Critics who treat adult as a term of approval, instead of as a merely descriptive term, cannot be adult themselves. To be concerned about being grown up, to admire the grown up because it is grown up, to blush at the suspicion of being childish; these things are the marks of childhood and adolescence. And in childhood and adolescence they are, in moderation, healthy symptoms. Young things ought to want to grow. But to carry on into middle life or even into early manhood this concern about being adult is a mark of really arrested development. When I was ten, I read fairy tales in secret and would have been ashamed if I had been found doing so. Now that I am fifty I read them openly. When I became a man I put away childish things, including the fear of childishness and the desire to be very grown up." - C.S. Lewis

A FAQ is a good idea, except from what I've seen, nopony ever reads the front page on chans. Adding relevant stickies to each board is probably a better way to get info out, no?

I try to sticky good info whenever I see it, or at least move the post into a sticky

I like the way Brainy said it, myself, Lemming. Perhaps a paraphrasing of his wise words could be in the faq?

Q: How do I know in wich board I should post my what?
(ie, when is it artsy enough to go in /art/ or when ftw /pony/ or /pic/)
__________
Here is possible questions i know answers to:

Q: Rule 34 ok here?
A: No, but artistic nudes are ok. (GOTO :http://rule34.paheal.net/ )

And in conclusion!
>>> (how do i link to the fuckin frontpage)
>Nothing to see here by admin - 02/14/11 @ 05:00 AM PST
>Nopony actually reads these posts, do they?

I think this is an excellent idea now that we've come further along into defining what we're all about.

>>187
lol, that's true. but i think an FAQ would only serve to give you more justification when handing out warnings or bans and you can also specify board rules + maybe throw in some more general info about what MLP:FiM and Ponychan is all about (basically repeating what lemming wrote here). also, nothing says "read the frakkin rules" like a one-day ban.

on your second point
I think once we've figured out what all the board rules are, they should probably be posted in the rules tab

just in case someone get's a little too sore over an issue, and we can point them to the clearly writen rules
