| >> | No. 192 Well... I can help you with some advices. First, you need organization, and a lot. You can't go around randomly adding stuff, thinking about cool features, etc. You must carefully plan ahead what your game is going to be. Think a story, game mechanic, style of sprites and music, target audience, etc. Maybe at first people will like it cause it has ponies, but that won't hold their attention for much time, needless to say it won't attract non-bronies. It has to be engaging. Also, if more than 1 person is going to work in it, you have to organize what is everypony going to do, and when, and follow that guide as strictly as posible. If you are like me, and don't even know where did you put your head, try to find someone who is capable of leading the team. About the game itself, I'd stay away of that typical RPG mechanic: 4 heros, choose your class, fight, earn gold, buy equipment, keep fighting, repeat, save Equestria. It is getting old, and it doesn't go ok with the spirit of the show. Maybe make it a puzzle game, where each pony has different habilities that can, or cannot help you solve the puzzle. Maybe you could add a quest system where ponies will ask you to do favors for them (please, no "collect 10 items and kill Lord Evil" kind of favors), which you'll need thinking, abilities, team work, etc. to accomplish. Then you could add a relationship system, where depending on your actions, different ponies will like you more or less, and new paths will open, or old paths will close. The most important advice I can give you is: PERSEVERE. Making games is no easy task. AT ALL. You will fail, and fail, and fail, and fail again. And you have to stand up and keep fighting. If you can't handle frustation, you'll never finish anything minimaly playable. End of transmision. |
