It's been a few years since I've done this, and to be honest, the first two segments were horribly rushed. Chapter one was released mostly as a teaser to see if there was any interest, and I rushed chapter two because the most common complaint I received was that chapter one was too short. I promise that chapter three will be more in-depth than the previous two, and of a higher quality. It's going to take me time, though, and it will be released this weekend -at the earliest-.

(First fanfic in years. Only doing a little bit at a time where I can spare a few minutes, and holding back that persistant nagging feeling of OH GOD WRITING MLP FANFICTION. Something a little different maybe?)

CHAPTER 1

The air was heavy with clouds - more than usual today. Some of the pegasi weren't going to work today. They were solemnly standing on the sad little hills outside of town, as the coffins were lowered.

An orchard without a tender. A secret society without a member.

There was one who wasn't in attendance, much as she wanted to be. She had a much more important job. Which is why, on this sad day, a pegasus crept into and out of the empty library.

The mail must always go through. Especially today.

They've driven me to fanfiction. With an OC, no less. Celestia forgive me, I've done something horrible.

This is mostly a practice piece, since it's been years since I've written anything, so pointing out everything I've fucked up is encouraged. No need to feel any restraint, I can take it(and it's usually funnier that way too).

Hello everypony! I'm the overly wordy anonypony who recently introduced over on /hi/. As you can see I've chosen a name, and it's hopefully one that will stick and become recognisable hereabouts - we're all here to make friends, after all. ^_^

I've written a little summat which I am eager to share with you. Since I'm totally new to MiF (and, indeed, ponies in general), I thought the best thing to write would be a simple, thoughtful piece, without too much reference to canon; in this case, something of a character study of Twilight just before the series starts, so this could be part prologue, I guess.

I am uncertain of how to submit it - general procedure seems to be to submit fanfiction as an image document, but I don't know how to achieve the clear and simple format shown in other story submissions. I have asked and was told that simple Copy+Paste is also acceptable, so I'm running with that for now: if anyone would prefer that I submit in image format, please let me know how and I would be glad to oblige with any future submissions.

Twilight awoke with a start. The familiar surroundings of the library greeted her, blanketed in silent darkness. A cursory glance at the veritable fort of books she’d constructed around herself revealed that Twilight had fallen asleep reading.
