Dear Princes Celestia,

Today I learned that there are some things you can't explain, and when you encounter one of these, it's best to just give up and not even try to understand it.

Dear Princess Celestia,

Fucking magnets, how do they work?

Oh geez I don't know if I want to open this particular can of worms.

I can't speak for others who worked on this episode, but from my perspective, it's kind of like you said: there are simply phenomenons that are difficult to explain. And I'm of the opinion that "faith" can apply to more things than just religion. For instance: are we alone in the universe or is there life on some other planet somewhere? We don't have convincing evidence that aliens exist, but it takes "faith" to say that's it's not possible at all. I've heard some pretty heated debates from smart people regarding certain cases of cryptozoology. In the end, if there is an idea we explore that leads us to inconclusive answers, we are left with a choice: believe it anyway, reject it, or wait for more answers.

Obviously rather deep for our audience, I know. And obviously up to lots and lots of interpretation. Maybe it was a mistake. Honestly, we started the process with the concept of Pinkie having that old fashioned cliche "knee's achey, it's gonna rain," Twilight not buying it and the humor we thought came out of that.

Personally i think the lot of you are reading to much in to it.

It's a simple case, just because you don't understand it does not make it any less true.

E.g people don't understand love, yet love is real. Or is it. ;)

p.s personally i thought the episode was "just because you don't understand it, does not mean you should so quickly dismiss it."

Well, as an atheist (and brony of course), I like Lauren's reply. They just messed up the letter and Twilight not being a good scientist, but the faith aside from religion part is true IMO.

someone write her and tell her that it *WAS* the funniest episode lmao
even if the letter wasnt what people wanted this was still one of the most entertaining things I've watched in a long while

The lesson was : just because you don't understand and you can't explain something that doesn't make it less real.

Pinkie Pie never invented a stupid reason to this like religion do it with gods and angels. And there is still a lot of thing on the world that science can't explain like how the f*ck does the brain work, we don't know but one thing we know it that it work and it would be stupid to say that if we can explain how that mean that it don't work.

yeah that's how I took the message too... dont dismiss things just because you cant explain them (that and trust in your friends yadayada)

I really feel bad for laura, everyone's reading too much into this episode and I hope it doesnt change things for here =(

I wasn't too fond of this episode. Not that I was bothered by the moral of the story - but I'm not so fond of certain things being suddenly introduced (Pinkie's twitchings) that were never mentioned at all at an earlier stage. It seems like a whole year has passed in the first 15 episodes and never did Pinkie have that condition ... then suddenly all day long. :/

and we'll probably never see anything about it again

Right you are with both statements. Still it's not what I enjoy, even as a little kid those things bothered me. Ah well, the episode had Derpy at least.

I got a sense of dread when I considered that this could become a regular thing in future episodes. It would totally ruin Pinkie Pie for me. Hopefully they don't do it too much anymore, and occasional reference would be fine, just not constant like in that ep.

Belief gives strength to ideas, enough ponies follow under Pinkie's spell and it is undistinguishable from the forces behind unicorn horns. The characters that started to gather around Pinkie shaped that idea by fearing her predictions and it became more violent and frequent as they hid away from pinkie’s spasms, Twilight’s morbid fascination in proving it wrong gave it a playfully antagonistic quality that only left her frustrated without realizing the answer “you just gotta believe” was right in front of her face, and as long as Pinkie truly believes in her ability to helpfully feel things then that’s all that she needs as proof that it is real. True belief sustains itself.

I hope it's at least mentioned once every blue moon to keep it somewhat consistant. I wouldn't like to see it that much anymore either.
