This episode furthers my theory that Fluttershy is the "bitch" out of all 6. Rarity's a saint compared to her.

She's got that condescending way she talks to everypony and tells them how they're wrong but in that "polite" way, until she snaps and just says what she means.

This is a pony who glowers her chickens into submission. I think we need to swap Fluttershy with a disdainful look into the "OBEY" poster -- she's earned it.

Me too, while I looooved Sweetie Belle's rendition and that more than anything has her at the top of my "favorite babby pony" list. Doesn't hurt she's absolutely adorable in every way to boot. Apple Bloom still has the cutest voice, though.

Fluttershy definitely needs to sing more, but I also wanna hear Dash get a song in an upcoming episode, and/or Applejack. Flutter's voice is so soothing though, even moreso in song. Despite her problems in this episode, I still think when it comes down to it she'd make the best mom out of all the ponies.

Okay, after listening to the two offending diphthongs with over and over again with speakers up to my ears on a tight loop, she is in fact saying "rascal". It's the background noise is clouding just enough so that it can be... interpreted differently.

Yeah, it wasn't as great as I was hoping for (big Fluttershy fan) but I got my fix of Fluttershy, and it had its moments.

So, everypony has been talking about Fluttershy's Stare and how Sweetie Bell is Rarity's younger sister. But there was something else that stuck out. Something that made Equestria of MLP a lot more 'darker'.

I'm talking about what happened to Twilight.

This was the very first time in this cartoon somepony actually got did in. Sure, we had episodes with a dragon, a manticore, a hydra and of course Nightmare Moon. But in this episode we got a monster who actually incapacitated a main character no less.

You know how on /co/ we have fun with those nonsense fanfics where the MLP cast gets hurt or even maimed? It's not gonna happen of course, but this episode showed that there are things in MLP capable of hurting/killing ponies.

Again, it'll never happen. But it disturbed me a bit.

Your thoughts?

However, I loved the little touch of a snail slowly making its way across Twilight's face when the kids stumbled onto her. That was hilarious to me, as well as all the screaming afterward.

I'm glad dear Lauren isn't afraid to add a little grimdark, even if it IS toned down by comedy.

I was legitimately concerned when Fluttershy started turning. I figured she was done for.

Personally this episode is second from the bottom for me. I cant complain about it tho even a lower level episode of this is still puts me into a pretty good mood. Scootaloo is the only one of the young ponies that I like so I really hope the classmates dont show up next week.

This kind of stuff really interests me. First it means if I ever end up in Equestria I could be an adventurer. Second it has me wondering about the adult ponies. Are all of them off fighting something even more dangerous? Celestia sent her prized student off to face a dragon, the woods have manticores and cocktraices and theres a hydra in the swamp so something really big must be going on elsewhere for that kind of stuff to just slide by.

I was actually discussing this with another brony, and we both agree that Fluttershy is a paladin, without question. She's passive and quiet, right up until the MOMENT the innocent are threatened or put in danger, and then all of a sudden she unleashes a righteous fury that purges all in front of her in cleansing holy fire.

I still see her as a druid. It seems like paladins normally don't wait for SHTF before acting. I guess I could see it, But I think a NG Druid fits her better. Also: first thought when she used 'The Stare' was charm/dominate animal.

Well, every episode has it's theme. I wouldn't have minded this one to go a bit longer for a better resolution, as the current ending is kind of abrupt.

I liked the dark tone. Shows the show ain't afraid to get edgy.

As everypony here agrees, Fluttershy is one B.A.M.F. In the words of Slade from Teen Titans Go!: 'It's always the quiet ones... *creepy head twist* ...isn't it?'

But one thing in particular that I wanted to bring up. Follow my logic here:

Apple Bloom = Applejack's baby sister

Sweetie Belle = Rarity's baby sister

Scootaloo = Rainbow Dash's baby sister?!

I believe that this is a consummation most devoutly to be wished. If it is revealed to be true in future episodes, then I shall have to come up with a new word to replace 'love' to describe how I feel about this show. ^-^

P.S.: How likely do you think it is that Sweetie Belle's special talent is singing? Seriously, that filly's a gospel choir all by herself!

I wouldn't be surprised if all it would have taken was sunlight to revert a petrified pony.

Besides, the curse can't have been that strong if the cockatrice could just casually restore Twilight and the chicken as it's running away. Worst case scenario, a group goes looking for her in the morning, they take her to Celestia and everything comes out friendship and rainbows.

The petrifaction didn´t really turned things into stone, it looks more like a deposit.
See was much more afraid, that the CMC got in trouble with the cockatrice, than about the magical power.

Seriously, thanks for making my day, guys. I needed it after all the 4chan shitstorm today.

Oh I forgot to mention but Fluttershy's voice actress just got a few fan in this episode. There was a bit of dialogue while they were still in the house messing things up where she tries to stop them and there is a very slight breaking squeak that can almost be missed. It was something you know was intentional but sounded so natural for her character that I had to stop the video and clap for good vocal acting.

This episode was great! =) loved the lullabye!

She's not condescending. The whole point of her character progression is to be able to stand up for herself. Hence Angel, the rabbit, elbowing her and such. There are moments when she becomes assertive, but only ever to animals, never other ponies.

The fact that Fluttershy's house is right next to the the everfree forest filled with dangerous and mysterious creatures only further shows how much of a secret bamf she really is.
