"If you both want to fly you'll have to go out together." or something like that. This is fine for the plot as the Rarity's falling helped Dash blah blah blah. But... well... think about this, would number 15, Derpy, have gotten to fly if Dash(2) and Rarity(4) had not stalled.

It just seems odd that they didn't have enough time for all 15 ponies to go out alone.

If rarity took the place of number 14, would they have mentioned to Derpy that they would have had to go out together or jsut told her theat there wasn't enough time for her to perform? Would number 14 be nice enough to let a Derp faced pony be in the same field and have a chance of wrecking thier performance somehow?

Or did our favourite Tyrant plan for vanity and fear to hold Dash and Rarity back to the end of the show knowing it would take a friend in danger for the sonic rainbooom to happen, with a little help from pinkie pie helpfully "finding" the correct book (again) to give rarity her wings?

At the end of it she was sorry and apologized to rainbow dash and the fear of loosing a friend helped rainbow dash forget the fear of not being able to perform and thus she was able to preform and inadvertently pull off the sonic rainboom.


also derpy would of had her turn, as all rainbow dash was doing is swapping numbers around.

p.s as soon as twilight told her her wings are very fragile i knew how this episode would end :D

Just when I was starting to get afraid that they were losing steam on this series, they come out with an episode better than all the rest. Hooray!

That was one of the best episodes so far. Lots of funny scenes and even some Derpy.


Fluttershy's cheering was so cute I came rainbows.

This episode was all kinds of amazing. Best one so far and will be a doozy to top.

As for the episode, I think it was great! The one and only thing I didn't like, is that it made Rarity out to be a badpony...not cool.

I liked the previous voice of Dr. Hooves :( (the one in Call of the Cutie).
I liked this episode, but goddamn that outfit Rarity had was hideous.

That was an awesome episode! Rarity sure looked creepy with lipstick, but a big improvement over last episode. Several goosebumps at the end during the Sonic Rainboom... you go Rainbow!

This is probably my favorite Rainbow Dash episode. And hoo boy was Fluttershy adorable in this one.

I was glad to hear "Rainbow Crash" used more often, since I had already taken that as my handle here, and over at the MLP wikia.

Oh, and I thought this was a great episode.
While the plot of course demanded that Rarity compete, I thought they did a great job of making that flow from her vanity, rather than a sense of competitiveness that you would expect from Rainbow Dash or Applejack. She's enters the competition just to show off. And rather than deliberately being a jerk to Rainbow Dash, she instead seems to barley be aware of her. So we end up with the moral being "support your friends" which is much more subtle than "don't be a dick to your friends."

The animation and music for the whole sonic rainboom sequence really got my heart racing.

Greek mythology reference. Awesome.

Fluttershy's cheering. So sweet.

Pinkie Pie. Hmmm. There's something about her lines that just doesn't feel right too me. In "Feeling Pinkie Keen," and in this episode, it seems like she's being random just for the sake of being random. Compare with "Bridle Gossip" (my favorite episode and the originator of my handle) where she's more excitable and obsessive than random; writing a song and getting out of breath singing it.

By the way, does anypony think that Rarity was very hypocritical in this episode? In Boast Busters, she very much disapproved of Trixie's boasting behaviour, and in the new episode, she got just as carried away with her wings as Trixie was with her magic.

But yah. Rarity isn't a jerk - she just LUUURVES beautiful things. That's what makes her so generous: she can't stand seeing anypony not looking as fabulous as her. She may be vain, but she isn't outright arrogant, which separates her from Trixie.

If it was not for Rarity, nopony would have gone other then Fluttershy, the others, they just thought Rainbow would be fine. It was Rarity who felt very strongly for helping Rainbow dash.

Not only that, but this happens only two episodes after being COMPLETE taken advantage of. She never once complained either.

Rarity wasn't really a bitch. The one thing she aspired to do the most (get freaky with Applejack look fabulous) was just amplified considerably. She was just caught up in the moment.

This holds true even without what happened in the episode.

I was upset with the way Rarity acted in episode 16, but I forgave her by the end and still love her.

Nopony is perfect, after all. Each and everypony of them has their flaws. Rarity just got caught up with the glamour of being different, of being able to catch people's attention without having to dress up in clothing. She was taken in by the popularity of it all. It went to her head and she forgot what was important for a while.
She flew too close to the sun in more ways than one. Her own brilliance was her downfall and she was wise enough to realize her mistakes.

And I have to applaud Rainbow. After everything that she had been put through in Sonic Rainboom, she still loved Rarity in the end. She was no longer thinking about herself and winning - she was only thinking about saving her friend and the wonderbolts.

I think Rainbow and Rarity both learned something and grew from that episode. Fluttershy too.

And Pinkie learned not to taste rainbows.

It was a good episode.
