the first two episodes bear special mention because at least for me, they had a very effective hook. they showed a level of sophistication that is pretty much unheard of for what is essentially a show aimed at little girls, they showcased some pretty cool artistic decisions, and they made the characters likeable. if the opening episodes had not been as dark or story-intensive as they were, i probably would not have even bothered to watch the other episodes. (also, if I hadn't been taking copious amounts of vicodin, but that is a different story for a different day.)

as it is, they effectively created a background in which to place all the other episodes while showcasing the best points of each of the ponies.

Applebuck Season.

Griffon The Brush-Off. I hated Gilda, so watching her get pwnned by Pinkie Pie and Rainbow dash was pretty epic.

Don't know about the best, I'm still making my way through them (trying to pace myself). After I watched 9 I thought it was the best. Then after I watched 10 I thought it was the best. Hopefully it just keeps getting better :)

Why do you guys hate ep8 (the slumber party one)?
It's not the best one, but it is nice. Shows how AJ and Rarity are so different from each other (with the good and bad things that brings) and they finally get along despite those differences.

Well said. Not a lot of action in this one, but good to pave the way for future interactions. Solidifying the friendship, like the episode with AJ & RD's competition.

Plus, I think it's more charming to see Rarity outside her element than in an episode devoted to her where she's doing her thing. If you were charmed by Rarity already.

I just watched Winter Wrap up and there are no words to describe how I feel right now. It was beyond amazing. Of the ones I have watched so far, I think I have to vote for this one.

Dragonshy was also really good.

As a Pinkiefriend I loved Griffon The Brush-off and Feeling Pinkie Keen. However, I love all of the episodes, even the first two which everyone bash. I don't know why.

Griffon the Brush off has the advantage of having the least amount of applejack in it.

But Pinkie keen has the least amount of both Rainbow dash and and applejack.

But Suited for success has the highest ratio of Rarity to applejack.

One of those three.

My favorites were (in no particular order)

- "The Ticket Master"
- "Applebuck Season"
- "Dragonshy"
- "Bridle Gossip"
- "Swarm of the Century"
- "Suited for Success"

the ones I liked least were

- "Boast Busters" (I disliked Snip, Snails and Trixie, all three of them)
- "Feeling Pinkie Keen" (suddenly Pinkie can predict disasters - everyone knew yet it was never shown before)

A toss-up between Bridle Gossip and Dragonshy for me.

Honorable mention to Winter Wrap Up, since I can't get that song out of my head.

All and all, I like em all, but that's my preferred order.

I loved every episode other than boast busters, trixie was funny but i couldn't stand looking at snips and snails, whenever they were off-screen, episode rocked, on-screen i cringed

Also I liked pinkie keen. sure all of a sudden she can predict stupid little things, but I thought it was one of the funniest episodes. plus shes random

winter wrap up takes the cake

I liked the sonic rainboom, cause rainbow dash is my favorite.

My vote is for Sonic Rainboom.

Swarm of the Century is the most balanced and well made imo

Second would be Rainboom, which funny enough was written by the same person.

Amazingly hard to choose, but personal top 5:

1 Applebuck Season

It's both sad and funny to see Applejack so worn-out and stubborn, and a valuable lesson is learned in the end.

2 Suited for Success

Shows Rarity is a lot more than the vain brat she seemed in the beginning, she's actually talented and her own loyalty gets her into a tight spot.

3 Winter Wrap-Up

A lot more respect gained for Twilight in this episode, the part were she cried out after her magical help was very sad. And that great song of course.

4 Sonic Rainboom

Seeing Rainbow Dash so nervous was an all new side of her, and gave you a lot more insight in this character. But she was just as cool as she always was during the spectacular Sonic Rainboom.

5 Look Before You Sleep

Rarity and Applejack together makes up a great episode. What's so great about this series is that they develop the relationship all the characters have, and this one is the most interesting so far.

I think Fall Weather Frieds is my favorite (and I'm the only pony mentioning it in this topic!). I was really cheering for Applejack on this episode. It has a simple plot and simple "cartoonish humor", but it's lovely and cute saw that rivalry.

And... Sonic Rainboom... <3
