/arch/ has been around for more than a decade, back when the site was very active, and it's still around because why not?

Because this place is being kept up because people still want to use it. There is no desire to make it popular, or more efficient, or 'better' than other sites. It's just 'home' for a lot of people and there's no reason to change things that aren't causing issues.

I view myself less as an admin and more like someone who just owns a place my friends like to hang out, so I keep it running. That's what this is at this point, and that's how we like it.

In fact, that's why I find it so funny people would waste their time trying to raid this site. Like, there's nothing here. It's like maybe 25 people just chilling and fucking around. There's no glory to be had here. No one cares.

We aren't trying to compete with any other sites, or prove any points, or make any statements. We're just here until everyone decides to wander off.

Respectfully: I understand that the place is ancient and no longer competing for traffic when it comes to its status on the internet, but that doesn't really answer my question as to why the archive is filled with threads that are over ten years old with people that have long since checked out. The subjects are dated; their inside jokes between social circles have been lost, and it doesn't really seem to make much sense in keeping it around. It's just a little odd is all.
