What are your opinions on the state of moderation on /ef/? What rules if any would you introduce to make the board more accessible and less hostile to all users?

In my opinion /ef/ should have one clear rule, no harassment of other users. Say what you want and feel free to criticise others, but when it becomes consistent it should be cut out. I think banning certain people who are causing nothing but trouble (including me) for an hour or two could stop a lot of this drama from happening in the first place.

As long as at least two mods are in favour of it and the person(s) being harassed aren’t against it I don’t see a big issue with banning someone(s) for a few hours so they can cool off.

This would include hostile arguments between two users in which both users may be banned.

If you don't like it don't post there. There's very few places left where people can truly speak their minds without tiptoeing around the sensitivities of others and I for one don't need another community where we all hold hands and pretend that we're friends with everyone even when there's clearly dysfunction beneath the surface. Hugbox be damned. There's enough of those already.

I didn’t want to make this thread. Mikie and Mk were saying that someone should make a thread on /site/ about /ef/s rules, so I did. If i didn’t make it one of them would have.

To be honest I think /ef/ is perfectly fine outside of a few bad days. But everyone is supposed to make a suggestion and I couldn’t think of anything else.

I get your trying to help, but the crux of the issue is that people with positive things to say arnt posting, or are holed up in serial threads.

No rules can change that, its obvious by the fact that once we put in the political filter to appease all the people who complained about politics, they all left anyway as soon as they got what they wanted.

People just need something to complain about i think, and if its not this, it will be something else.

I think also, we just all seem to be syncing up with bad moods atm, and its just cyclical, spurred on by a bunch of bad shit happening in the world.

Its just a message board, and its always going to come down to who is posting messages, and what those messages say.

I've come to the conclusion that the internet runs on drama. Think about all the names that you saw when steam was here, just to argue that he should go because he was causing trouble, then once he did go, they all went too.

So is there actually a "solution" i doubt it, other than the people who want to see the place be more active and engaging, help to make it that way.

I honestly can’t think of anything to talk about. Seems like this place was a lot faster when all we talked about was politics, but then we all got burnt, and to be honest that was probably for the best. I’ve tried to make a few threads recently, but no one seems to be in the mood.

Yeah I haven’t been feeling too great recently, and it doesn’t seem like anyone else is either. I’m just hoping that once it passes things will go back to normal.

It doesn't need moderation, it needs people and traffic. There's little to no traffic other than the very few people who still come to this place. When efchan was still around, it was slowly starting to go as well, and we dropped it since no one could hold the site, and the discord is pretty active for what it needs. Moderation for /ef/ would be at an absolute minimal. The most mods should ever do is abuse their power with fun bullshit. But I don't think you guys really have the ability to do any fun shenanigans anymore.

Also if politics are going to pollute a place, simply have a board for politics. If anything, you really don't need oat or ef anymore. One board for threads to chat on topics is all that's needed with minimal modding.
