No? They tend to get autosaged. We love our Kabel but in all fairness it can clog up the board(s) when he is making his weird lewd shitposts multiple times a day. Furthermore, /oat/ is not generally supposed to be the lewder board. If Kabel wants to make an actual porn thread on /ef/ rather than just a lewd shitpost on /oat/ that wouldn't be an issue.

It is very rare that we outright delete a thread. Most threads that we feel were not or are no longer worth it get autosaged, locked and/or moved to /trash/ for the sake of transparency.

If we outright delete a thread, then people will say "What got deleted?" and/or "Why did it get deleted?" or even possibly make claims that what the mods say about it afterwards is lies.

When we trash a thread, we are able to essentially "get rid of" it but allow everyone to still see it for a while so we can be like "You see? Look. Right here. This is why the thread was shit." And then people (in theory) can't make up any BS or take shit out of context and what not.

Alternatively, you could move it to trash, and then delete it.
Then, you have a copy for that rather odd, and incredibly unlikely reason. All the while, not having the catalogue cluttered by useless threads.

I mean, /trash/ is basically just a holding cell. It only has one page, so things fall off pretty quickly. Moving it to /trash/ and leaving it there for a bit allows for the thread to be saved if need be, and it also allows for users to see what's been removed, and make threads like this one to get an explanation of what happened, if they so desire.

Well, the point of that is so people know the thread has been moved, and where it has been moved to. You can still post in threads after that's done, albeit in their new location (In this case, /trash/). If that wasn't there, people wouldn't really have any way of knowing the thread had been moved if they weren't watching it or had it open in a tab.

Yeah, it seems like a silly reason to me. I mean, most the time, it's incredibly arbitrary anyway, so, people're not really getting any kind of standard or expectation out of that.
