It was good that G4 ended when it did. The show had lost it's momentum in S9. What other stories were there left to tell?

Shucks, there are a hundred stories you could tell about S1 and S2, back in the good times before the lines between mortals and immortals got blurred and the storylines got so clogged with characters and history that there was no room left to move. Hasbro might check out the comics for a bunch of ideas to begin with.

So I bought a copy of Season 10, Issue 1. As usual, Andy Price is great, though this story lacked the Smoky-Stover-Will-Elder-Mad-Comics brio of some of his earlier stuff. But — abadas? African unicorns! Who knew? Kelpies! A second Tree of Harmony! It goes to show how much potential there was left in the G4 universe.

In my opinion season 10 ended a bit too abruptly. To be honest, it had its ups and downs, and the story in the zebra lands and the finale were the best of the bunch.

According to EQD (https://www.equestriadaily.com/2023/10/my-little-pony-generation-4-show.html), Discovery Family still owns a substantial piece of the G4 episodes and characters, so every time Hasbro mentions Twilight or Celestia in a G5 episode, they have to pay them royalties. This limits their potential involvement in the current show.
