Okay, back now. Just finished it off. First, as mentioned, Bridlewoodstock didn't really do anything for me. It was just another special, like the Christmas episode. That said, the other six episodes really hit the mark. They each had their own plot, but each one flowed into the next. Like, one episode, the ponies are converting Canterlogic, the next, they're making use of what they turned it into. A large amount of callbacks occurred to both Gen 4 and the Gen 5 movie, and continuity is something I really love.
Throughout it all, Zipp continues her investigation into Twilight's warning and Misty's arc is playing out. This is her season, where her double life pulls her in two directions and eventually she finds her place. The quality takes a noticeable leap up for the climax of the finale. It felt like it could even be the end of the series, but of course we get a cliffhanger with Opaline and another evil plot.
Pipp also had me noticeably laughing several times, raising her several points with me. I can really relate to her view on sports. Nothing really changed for Izzy and Hitch though. Hitch did have a nice moment with Sunny during their episode, but Izzy is just that same bouncy, glitter obsessed pony she's always been. Comic relief doesn't feel like the right term for her, but her role is to keep things light hearted. Sparky doesn't shit on anything, which is a step forward from Tell Your Tail.
Too positive? Need a complaint. Fine. Masquerade.
Misty: I don't have a mask.
>Yes you do, Misty. Yes you do. You wore it for Halloween.
Izzy: We'll make you one!
>Same mask she had at Halloween...
