Getting boobs would be the obvious analogy, and they already had them. The human equivalents of the Mane Six seemed to be three or four years younger than their pony versions, and the CMCs a couple of years older. Only Hasbro knows why.

They could be looking for their own special talents. Humans don't get magic asstats, but we do frequently have activities that just 'click.' And require thousands of hours to get really good at. But at least it's a starting point.

I guess they could also be trying to find love or lose their virginity or something. Humans lack a properly comparable physical development threshold.
