Lets face it, it's gonna get a TV series. There is no other option.

Now, I haven't seen the second movie, but from what I gather magic is being worked through music rather than through... whatever Equestria has. Something like Superhuman Samurai Syber-Squad. Rather obscure, but maybe someone there was a fan.

Anyway, I want this thread to be a chance for folks to discuss how things might be in the new series. Also, lets me have my two cents on the soap box.

First off, I highly doubt the show will have Princess Twilight in any significant. Instead, I'm sure the EQ Twilight will make an appearance with brings forth the chance for an interesting twist to the classic "New Girl to School". Rather than Twilight trying to fit into a new envirement, she now has to live up to an image that her double has created. And her (new) friends have to accept a few differences between this Twilight and the one they know.

Secondly, lets face it there is only so much you can do with stories when you have ponies. A human-esk setting with magic mixed in? That has a lot more chances for different stories and new looks at old stories.

The big thing I'm looking forward to the most though is that this is the same team targeting an older audience. This means a much more 'mature' tone in the stories and a chance for them to really stretch their muscles. Unless too much freedom is bad?

But who knows. Do you? What do you think?

Cheap MS paint edits of screenshots do nothing for me, except make me laugh at how horrible they are.

Though I will admit there is *some* decent EQG porn. Very scarce. Rather amusing that porn artists draw the characters with better proportions than the actual animators.

I dunno, that some cloppers probably have very specific tastes? I just find it interesting to consider that some of them might like the more realistically-proportioned drawing, and some might hate it and actually prefer the MS Paint edits.

Maybe there are people out there who argue about r34 just as hotly as we do (or did) about the show's writing. Maybe there's someone out there who has similar opinions of John Joseco vs tiarawhy that we have of Larson vs Williams.

I've heard a theory that it's a pun on Star Academy [en.wikipedia.org], a reality show with contestants learning music that aired for 9 seasons in France. With this in mind "Equestria Academy" makes a lot of sense as a name for the series of shorts wherein the mane 5 are introduced to their respective instruments.

Actually, I'm not sure who currently owns it. Mattel had the master toy license first, but it's Hallmark who really owns it, just like how American Greetings owns Care Bears and Strawberry Shortcake. And each toy generation, they change which toy company owns the master toy license. Playmates was the latest owner.

It honestly looks a lot more like it's borrowing FiM's feel. I haven't seen the original series, but it looks like a full fantasy world with more fantastic plots, just with human(?) main characters.

but the new ones probably are not going to be like that. it look like it goes more for a normal cartoon approche, or you could call it the FIM approche.

even it is about rainbows and girls and horses, it look like it isnt going to be dumb down like the girls show usually do. which is good.

even i doubt the characters are going to be really fun, or having a really great personality.

but at least it isnt trying to be like MH or set it on a Highschool. so at least the dumb down pandering department isnt a thing.

I dont know if there are pictures of the new rainbow brite products.

Going to sound HORRIBLY non-hetero here, but when I was like 4 or so I actually really liked Rainbow brite; the only thing I remember watching was the very first pilot or movie for it, but I actually loved it as a kid.

Probably why I like rainbow dash so much XD
Actually have always really liked rainbow color schemes from an asthetic point of view.

I'm fine with the designs, though the animation parts do look cheap.

Not enough is really shown for me to get a good feel on how the writing usually is. Rainbow Brite sort of sounds like Lola in the first instance, but loses the valley girl accent in other bits. And I kind of liked the "Nothing is cuter!" joke.

and like you say, the dessigns are ok, but the animation look cheap, it remind me for some reason that cartoon of kids being pirates, or shesow, but not even like that...

I've had to sit through it a few times when babysitting, and its pretty bad.

like, I feel bad hating on it since its made for sub 5 year old kids. But its just so bleh. Pretty much feels like dora the explorer with a disney bent instead.

Its not meant to have good animation, as things happening aren't really the intended point of the show; its really basic in its structure.

Iiii don't think that's how it works. I think the reason why pirates got so easily pacified is the whole "seafaring adventurers" aspect, of rough guys that don't take no for an answer, while downplaying the murder, thievery, and rape. Rapists can't really undergo the same process because their entire spectrum is sexual in nature, which, good or bad, is still out of reach for children.

Though I do expect that in the future Mobsters will undergo the same treatment. Kids in the 2050's are going to go running around pretending to be Al Capone and Tony Montana.

On that note, I think the Song battle at the end was the best fight yet, better than the tirek fight. It had all of the six involved, had a nice back and forth between the heroes and villains, and let me root for them all.

Plus that awesome Alicorn goodness at the end.

Why bother? It's only cool because of the effects. I don't really care about the outcome because I have no reason whatsoever to care about any of the characters. It's the same thing with the Tirek VS Twilight fight.

Wrong, those are corsairs.

I don't even get the whole Ninja VS Pirate thing, both were very different warriors from different eras that had different jobs. Ninjas were spies and assassins that worked in small groups, Pirates were scrappy bandits that fought in large numbers with whatever tools they had on hand.
