Personally, I would have been okay with the "hard-reset" that someone had teased in one of the EQG threads.
With Sunset Shimmer returning to Equestria to take Twilight Sparkle's place in the group while Twilight Sparkle remains in the Ponyville Castle and just provides intel and support for the New Mane 6 like Princess Celestia did previously...

All three of them need to happen? I can't pick and choose? Because ideally I'd just delete Equestria Girls and leave the other two alone.

Since nothing from Equestria Girls seems to have carried over into the show proper, it seems like that wouldn't cause any conflicts.

Y'now, your post kinda gives the impression that you're saying "How do you make this retcon that I want work for me?". Cuz I don't have a problem with Discord being good, Twilight being a Princess, or Equestria Girls existing. (I have a problem with the execution, but that's neither here or there)

The only thing I wish to retcon is Reflections. Everything else can be made to work.

In fact, here's how I would have rewritten Reflections:

Part 1. Luna calls the Mane Six, tells them that Celestia has disappeared, and the only hint that she has is that this mirror has appeared. They figure out that it's a portal and they go into it. The Mane Six arrive in Canterlot and get introduced to the Mirrorverse, and find out that Celestia's been captured by Queen Eclipse (Evil Celestia)

2. The Mane Six sneak in Eclipse's castle to rescue Celestia, all while having to evade her elite guard, the Evil Six. While they prepare to escape Canterlot, with Celestia, they're almost overpowered by them, only to be rescued by the Mirror Six (Six antagonists from the show, except that in this universe they're good. I thought of Trixie, Sunset Shimmer, Gilda, and Lighting Dust. Hasn't quite figured out two more.). The issue ends with an introduction to Eclipse and Bloodmoon (Luna's evil name... yeah, it's lame, I couldn't think of anything else... Penumbra? Harvest? Phobos?), and with her sending King Sombra after the Mane Six.

3. Now that they're safe in the resistance hideout, Celestia begins to explain everything: Celestia visited this universe frequently when she was younger, seeking comfort from the pain that she felt after banishing Luna in King Sombra (Who in this version, has a personality: A stoic, wise ruler who, despise being somewhat tough on his subjects, only wants them to be the best that they can be, and deep down, is as nice as you can get), but eventually stopped, as Starswirl pointed out that her emotions were starting to interfere with her role as ruler, and so was Sombra. After hundreds of years, she decided to revisit his Kingdom to see how he was holding up, only to see that it had been corrupted by Eclipse and her sister. She tried to do something about it, but she was over her head. She didn't think about it rationally, and was easily bested by a corrupted Sombra. While everybody discusses their next course of action, they come across the idea of using the Elements of Harmony from this Universe to put Eclipse in the grinder. After reaching the tree of harmony (and avoiding the Evil Six, who attack them with traps reminescent of Nightmare Moon's attempts to stop the Mane Six), the mane six are once again attacked by the Evil Six, reinforced by King Sombra. They manage to take the Elements just in time to to cleanse Sombra, who quickly takes care of the Evil Six.

4. King Sombra joins up with the Mane Six and reunites with Celestia. Now that Sombra is on their side and Celestia has recovered from her ordeal, they are ready to strike and put an end to Eclipse's reign of terror. After throwing everything that they had at Canterlot's defenses, it's down to Celestia, Sombra, and the Mane Six to fight the two evil sisters. The Mane Six try using the Elements while the evil twosome is distracted, but they fail to work on them, since they're evil by choice. Eclipse and Evil Luna then start attacking the Mane Six for their insolence, prompting Celestia to cut loose and go into her Flame mode. While Sombra is fighting Evil Luna to a standstill, Celestia is managing to overpower Eclipse. However, getting sick of the whole affair, Evil Luna and Eclipse fuse together and soar above the heavens, absorbing great power from the sun and the moon. Both tired from the fight, Sombra and Celestia know that they will not be able to beat them, and formulate a plan. Both are distraught that they have to resort to it, but there is no more time. Celestia urges the Mane Six to go back to Equestria and prepare to shut down the mirror, claiming that she has a plan. They then get the Evil Fusion to follow them, and into the mirror. They then try to follow Celestia through the mirror and into Equestria, just as they're about to cross over, Luna shatters the mirror, and Sombra does the same on his end, trapping them in the void between worlds forever. The epilogue features everybody going back to their normal lives in both the mirror and normal universe.

It's sounds as if you're asking us to submit to your taste and pretend those 3 points were bad. Do you know what, I'm not going to play by your ruler. I'm gonna leave all those intact.

Retcons I would be willing to tolerate:
1) Luna doesn't have her normal appearance in dreams.
As it was pointed after Sleepless in Ponyville, it is hard to believe that Luna would had turned into Nightmare Moon for lack to appreciation from other ponies, if she can visit their dreams and interact with them. Also, why she didn't knew how to talk like a normal pony in Luna Eclipse?

2) Great exhaustion of Luna and Celestia in A Cantelot Wedding.
If there was a credible threat against ponies during or before the wedding, I think it would had made a lot sense if it were Celestia and Luna doing all they could to prevent such danger. Instead of Luna flying to replace Celestia to look over Canterlot, she could had gave her some report, and then fly somewhere else again. During the ceremony we would had seen tired Celestia, giving another reason why she couldn't defeat Queen Chrysalis. Also, at the end we would had known why Luna wasn't around (she was scouting other areas).

3) Not having everything happening 1000 years ago.

4) Move It's About Time from Season 2 to later half of Season 4.
Because Tartarus.

5) More diversity for ancient unicorns.
Couldn't any other unicorn save Starswirl the Bearded do anything interesting?

6) Celestia to Castlemania.
Instead of Pinkie Pie being the "ghost", have Celestia (and maybe Luna) visit their old home and play the organs, not knowing that mane 5 are there. In the end Twilight tries to attack her (a terror in her face when she realize her mistake would be priceless). Twilight would give her old diary back to her, which Celestia had forgot there for centuries. Celestia explains why it's good to write things down, because later even little things can bring fond memories back.

7) Tune down Twilight's OP-mode in The Cutie Mark Chronicles.

8) Add some ancient looking protection to Mirror Pool, which is now worn out.

9) No test in The Crystal Empire.
Instead of Celestia saying it's a test, just let her say to Twilight that she's 100% certain that Twilight can do it. Later Twilight would had some issues with not letting down Celestia's trust and/or some pride, if she started to believe she can do it alone. In the end she must accept she can't do her task alone, and she needs others (Spike's) help.

9.1) Make it more clear how important role mane 5 had in The Crystal Empire.
Instead of blasting King Sombra away right away, make it a struggle. Crystal Heart starts to create a shield, but it's still not enough. Then mane 5 throws everything they have to remind how much fun crystal ponies had just few moment ago. This amplifies Crystal Heart's power, blasting King Sombra away.

9.2) Instead of killing King Sombra, make him disappear.
Make it so crystal ponies must keep up their good will in order to make sure King Sombra can't ever again return.

10) 13 more episodes for Season 3, and 2-parter for Magical Mystery Cure.

10.1) Have Fluttershy visit Twilight in Magical Mystery Cure.
Have it be Fluttershy who gives Twilight's her Eureka moment.

11) Celestia knows what parasprites are.
Seriously, what the buck!

12) Make Celestia to even look as if she's trying to explain her pet's appearance to Fluttershy.
Just make the guard pony interrupt her in mid sentence. Now Celestia looks like a flankhole, showing "suffering" animal to Flutteshy.

That's enough for now.

Because if there is people which like what already exist, and i wouldnt do the changes so hard

1. Do twiligh ascention something more involved, a little more outside a spell which only reason to exist is to make twilight a princess and nothing else, because even the writters dont know what it does, they just say "because magic". swallow our it.... probably a 2 parters could have fixed it... maybe....

2. Add a little seen in KCFO where fluttershy join discord in some of his activities, or fluttershy wanting discord to join one of her activities. So i have a reason to think why discord would feel sad of doing something alone, if before fluttershy did nothing with him, except just standing there and doing nothing.

3. Remove fucking symbiots, and make them creation of nightmare moon, you can have the same damn story

4. In season one, in the Gilda episode, when pinkie pie is looking for rainbow dash, she talk to dərpy, sure is the dərpy without the dərp eyes, and is just for a half second. But i would have the crossed eyes there, because is pinkie pie, just asking your other ordinary damn pony and it doesnt have to involve anything special, just your damn normal pony living in your damn pony town.

If there is something about the comics which i would retcon outside the fucking symbiots, i dont know, i dont read the comics, i never could, people just talk about how ultra amazing they are.... and they to me are nothing special. i mean, then what is the good thing? just colorful ponies, and not the supposed staff that work at the show?

You could say that nobody thought that it was Luna fixing their problems in the dream world, attributing it to just another figment of their imagination, that dismissal combined with constantly having to face horrible nightmares is what drove her insane.

Why not more diversity for ponies in general? I want to see a Pegasus do an Equestrian version of the legendary Kamikaze Winds. Or an Earth Pony use Earth Magic to raise friggin' mountains.

You might call me weird for this, but I think Luna would fit the bill better. She seems to be more in need of a connection to the past than Celestia. She's also the one who loved the organ the most.

And then fighting Celestia atop a rainy helipad while shouting about how invincible he is.

Her line was "Ah, what is this? Oh ho ho, these creatures are adorable. " maybe she did. She just didn't register them as a significant threat. After all, Parasprites are usually just a minor nuisance that eat up some food, and the Mane Six seemed to have it under control.

Nah, I like that she doesn't explain, it implies that Celestia lacks in personal empathy, due to spending so many years without talking to ponies on a personal level. The thought that somebody would think that her phoenix is in peril didn't even cross her mind, because nobody ever interjects on her, and she's so used to the rebirth cycle that she doesn't even notice it anymore.

On that note, Philomena needs to appear again.

To be honest:
If your idea follows even a little Reflections, and you see this as better version, I believe you that Reflections sucks.

Maybe it's because I don't know the original story, but while reading this I was just "Huh, what?"

And yes, I'm not a big fan of Alternative Universes, where good characters are just evil, and evil characters are good. I rather see versions, where some small change causes character(s) into different roads. Like, what if King Sombra won instead of Celestia and Luna? What if it was King Sombra who took Twilight as his apprentice? I would love to know more about King Sombra, and why he saw what he did as justified (I believe everypony is hero in their own story).

My version is that he was an old general from the Civil War days, who was out warring with other nations while the three tribes made peace. When he came back, he could not adjust back to the civillian lifestyle, specially with everybody calling him a heartless monster. He then snapped and went on a crime spree, ending up with him being imprisoned in the depths of Tartarus. The dark creatures that resided there shredded away at his body and mind, until all that remained was the very core of his being.

He eventually grew strong enough to break his bonds, and to take over the Crystal Empire. He feels that the Equestrian ideals of friendship and harmony are lies manufactured by the weak to constrict the strong, and that one's true self can only be achieved through war and conquest, and he planned to conquer Equestria to prove his point.

I do call you weird (which shouldn't be a surprise to anypony). My headcannon is that while Nightmare Moon was trapped in the Moon, her time was frozen. For her it was more like getting free right away.
And I'm totally okay having both of them in the castle, but if there's only one of them, writers could had fool us to think it was Pinkie Pie.

I don't think thats necessary. King Sombra doesn't have to return within runtime of FiM. After all, it took about 1050 years before Sauron started to have influence in Mirkwood after The Last Alliance. King Sombra could be just symbol of evil, who can invade your land anytime.

He's the same exact character as Q. And Q didn't end up being evil, he ended up being the same as Discord is now: an "unreliable ally" that usually just parasprites the characters to make them learn a lesson.

Even in RoH, Discord didn't really seem like a "rawr rawr I'm evil" villain like Nightmare Moon. He was more comedic and trollish than anything. So really, the only difference between RoH Discord and say...TaC Discord is that one is unfriendly towards the main characters and the other is friendly towards the main characters.

Instead of having something that really took discord off guard, something that he wasnt expecting, like fluttershy asking him to go and eat some tea, during that he could have transformed the teapot into a giant Teaslide (with cold tea, because hot tea burns), and they have some fun that discord wasnt expecting because was fluttershy plan, or i dont know, it could have been just a normal tea at the park thing. So when fluttershy leave, and discord is leave with the idea of "now i have to do stuff alone, instead with flutteshy.... FLUTTERSHY" There is a reason for the character to feel the difference of having the supposed alone fun and she being there.

but instead it is just that everybody is dumb. Even if fluttershy had a genuin moment with discord, instead of blindly supporting him, that could justify why she could feel to just say "im not going to use my element" and why she would feel so betray after.

And then, the tea party thing could have been the reference that Tirek said to flip him back "you just want to drink tea with ponies?"

But at least, after everybody being a bunch of idiots there to turn him good, at least the Finale finally made it right.

And at some level you could say "see, that make it at the end alot better, Discord reformation had to suck, because he had to betray everybody later".... and i dont think it should be like that extreme...

These do not need retcons. They just needed more time to be done better. It was not the ascension that people objected to. It was the Twilight Sparkle Power Hour that came with little buildup and sloppy execution. Discord's transformation was rushed and inconsistent, not bad conceptually. I want to be optimistic and say that EG could have worked! It didn't, but all things have potential.

How about retooling instead?

Instead of the bizarre plot of the S3 finale, we keep the focus on Twilight (she is the main character), but go into the others as they begin to grow and change, taking on more responsibility and making the transformation from aspiring to be something and actually living it.

Twilight wouldn't know about the struggles that would bring to their friendships, would she? How would she deal with that. It gives the show a chance to teach kids how things can change, and sometimes those changes will have an impact on your relationships. Then, maybe Twilight discovers some insight about friendship and brings them together when they're all in danger of going their own way, keeping the group together while not holding them back.

THAT is when she should becoming the Princess. It gives all the characters a fair shake while still keeping the focus firmly where it should be.

With Discord, it's simple. Make him evil. Show us that he's evil. Do something that gives him the belief that what he might be doing could be wrong. Sometime down the line, give him the chance to make the change.

EG? I'd like to stay away from that one. It's a cash grab that no one wanted. We've come to tolerate it on the whole and enjoy it for what it is, but it's not for us. I'm not sure it's for little girls, either, as much as it's for a market. Posturing and whatnot.

It reminds me of all the AU fanfic that would take all the characters and bring them into high school. It takes away the setting and the characters and the world that makes these sitcom stories fun to watch, even after we know how they all go, and it just...gives us those stories with little fanfare.

Maybe if they kicked it up a notch and went into self-parody, parody of the genre, or comedy, it could work. It didn't. But it could!

Princess Celestia is all powerful... and the show is less fleshed out. more is left to be mysterious.

I'm kinda sick of the whole "mystery" thing by now...

Rather than having to devote an entire comic arc to convincing us that 'Tia is relatable, just have her engage in regular conversation in the show! It wouldn't even be OOC for her to do it, since her numerous random visits to Ponyville in S1 already paint her as a monarch who doesn't take herself seriously. Remember, this is the princess who set up a royal meetup at a local pastry shop because she felt like it. Drop by Twi's place to pick up a letter personally? Sure, why not? She'll make time because she friggin can! I can totally imagine her taking the time to shoot the shit with Dashie about how stupid their toys are or going on an epic adventure with Spike to get materials for a birthday present for Twi. In all honesty, if somepony in the show called Celestia 'Tia or Cellie, I'd imagine Celestia would be perfectly okay with it. She might even prefer it!

In short, reflections didn't need to make Celestia relatable because she already was.

Possibly Athena due to her Elemental Tree. Wilhelm and Nisha are tied for second, due to the cool leveling/ways of interacting with his action skill and extremely high damage potential/fast gameplay respectively (Jakobs FTW), and lastly Claptrap, because his emphasis on co-op just doesn't fit a Solitary Sam like me, nor am I particularly fond of switching my combat style on the fly without having any say in the matter.
