Sorry for the inconsistency I have with making this thread. Someone else can do it next season. Also, I know this will make five stickies, so this can be taken down after today.

Please keep discussion and naming of background ponies, as well as Derpy sightings in Episode 22 in this thread. Don't forget to use spoiler tags for any discussion of the ponies in the preview clip before the episode airs, but afterwords feel free to post without them.

On /pony/, we were calling him either Sora (after his supposed biological father), Greased Lightning or Cruisin' Hoofbeat.

A bunch of us were pushing for Hoofbeat as a last name, though, because he looked like a greaser, as Galvaknight said.

Since the folks on mlp wikia were calling him Shady Daze, I changed the name in my art to Shady Hoofbeat

(sadly I hadn't uploaded it to ponibooru at the time but I suppose Shady Daze is sufficiently neutral that it could refer to any colt, and there's no canon about him beyond this episode)

Sadly this canon probably destroys the Hoofbeat comic I was working on which continues to portray him as an insecure, rebellious greaser and not a squeaky studious kid (like I was), but I will continue. Alternate continuity fanon commence!

WAIT A MINUTE... Looks like a greaser... covered in ink at the end of the episode... mid-season /pony/ fanservice? or did we read their minds? **My mind is full of buck**

So I take it he wasn't named? Then I'ma still call him Shady Hoofbeat in my art. I missed the first part of the episode -- been super busy this week.

Come to think of it, if Shady is a news photographer, then Hoofbeat still works as a last name, doesn't it?? And while he's not confirmed for greaser, he is covered with grease at the end of the episode...
