Yup, I made it last week during the ep, when a lot of people were complaining in Basil34's chat that it's a pain to work out when it airs in their timezone. Plus DST only makes it more confusing. So I thought a countdown would help clear it up a little :)

It's been getting a WHOOOOLE lot of hits though, I might have to put a small ad on there or something just to help cover the server costs a bit, I'm a poor student brony after all.

I can't remember what the font is called, but if you search ED for 'font' it'll come out. Celestia something I think. It's just been updated to have numbers, so I might tweak the site a bit to use them, but then again, it doesn't really add a lot of functionality to the site, so it might not be worth it for now (I'm pretty busy at the moment).

I successfully analyzed the Teaser video above and have drawn several conclusions:

1.) A Cutie mark sparkles when it is revealed
2.) 0:07 Applejack Background- Small Big Mac will make an appearance!
3.) 0:09 Rarity - Why is it night time? How could one discover style and elegance in the night?
4.) 0:10 Fluttershy - with an older rabbit, kinda looks like Angels mom.

I just hope they have enough time for all mane 6 characters to get their cutie marks and give the cutie mark crusaders their cutie marks in around 22 minutes.

I've been eagerly waiting this ever since it was first announced. I'm not expecting anything but cute, really. As long as it has a lot of ADORABLE I'll be happy.

My prediction--lots of CUTE.

I also am wondering if the CMC will be inspired to perform their theme song correctly this time and get their cutie marks. I only say this because I wonder why else they'd also be featuring a two-hour marathon culminating in the Cutie Mark Chronicles episode. I can also see them STILL not getting it and then having more Cutie Mark Crusaders in Season 2.

Well that's interesting. I just learned that Andrea Libman, who voices Fluttershy and Pinkie Pie, also voices a character on Strawberry Shortcake's Berry Bitty Adventures. She voices the character Lemon Meringue. Not that it really improves that cartoon, sadly.

It's only related in that Strawberry Shortcake comes on right before MLP:FiM. *shrugs*

Well, this stream is pretty TOOT in my opinion!

This ep's adorable. And awesome. And adorablawesome. Admittedly, I felt Dash being the cause of EVERYPONY's cutie mark was a bit much, but the individual stories are all wonderful. Scootaloo's growing frustration was also very funny, and getting to see the mane cast as fillies was a real treat. Bonus points for getting to meet Twilight and Pinkie's parents.

couple of thoughts about this... lets see about the pony ages:

I would think that Applejack would be the oldest considering she was able to move out on her own

Then Rarity - Already in school and helping with school projects

Then that puts Fluttershy and Rainbow Dash next - just starting school together, beginning with flight lessons

Then there's Twilight and Pinkie at around the same age, Twilight was about to enter school (however this might of been a secondary type school so its hard to say) and Fluttershy is at least a year older than Pinkie

Also this episode takes place before Sonic Rainboom considering the other mane ponies learned about her race in this episode

Twilights Story: Awesome! She just picked up a couple of points in my standings! We get bonus points for seeing her parents, baby Spike, what grownup Spike will look like, how she became Celestias student...YESYESYESYESYESYESYES!

Pinkies Story: Amish?! Moving rocks from one field to another? Didn't see that coming, but it was pretty great! And she has sisters somewhere!

And of course, RAINBOW DASH! Her story was just...20% cooler, of course! We confirmed early Sonic Rainboom, and her friendship with FlutterShy.

Overall, what a terrific episode! RD's RainBoom tied it all together nicely We got a great episode last week, a great one this week, and next week, it all concludes with the Grand Galloping Gala! At least they're sending us into the "offseason" with a big, big bang!

Oh. And Scootaloo had better chill a little bit. She lost a few cuteness points today.

My thoughts on this episode? It was FREAKING FANTASTIC. Easily THE BEST episode in the series so far. Why?

First off, every single story was amazing. All of them. And they were unexpected, except for Rainbow Dash, but even that had a twist when it turned out to be linking all of the mane cast together. By far, Pinkie's was the best cutie mark story. Amish origins? Rock farm? Inventing the word PARTY? That's how Equestria was made, people. Applejack's was unexpected, Rarity's was kinda of predictable but not quite, Fluttershy's was adorable and Twilight's was a little frightening, actually. She lost control of her magic because she's that powerful. Still incredibly cool to see. Overall, all of the stories were amazing.

As for the CMC, I just thought Scootaloo's growing irritation and lack of care for everypony elses stories just made her that much more hilarious of a character. Haters gonna hate, I guess.

10/10, A+. etc, etc.

Oh yeah, I forgot to mention something. In Sonic Rainboom, Hoops mentions that a Sonic Rainboom is just "an old mares tale." However, in this episode we clearly see that he was racing Rainbow Dash, and was fairly close when the Rainboom happened. Now, this Rainboom was so massive that it was seen in Canterlot and wherever Rarity was, when it originated below Cloudsdale. The Rainbow that Dash made was visible from Manehatten as well. So, since it was so noticeable and most likely caused some fuss, how could Hoops possibly have still said it was just a story? Wouldn't everypony know that Dash created one? Maybe it's just a continuity error, but with the same writer and all, there's some confusion here.

As we saw RD was headed straight for the ground damn near inch away from death or a huge 'owie' on her head. Hoops flew and crash away from the scene. RD was by herself when it happened. That's the same thing when Trixie said she defeated a Ursa Major and no one saw it.

Twilight Sparkle never finds her connection to the magic right away, stays an unpopular nerd in Pony School. Trixie uses flashy tricks to fool everypony into thinking she has great power. Becomes apprentice.
Applejack never inspired to return to the farm, stays with the Oranges and becomes a wasp snob.
Rarity returns to the play where it goes well, but nothing flashy. Never gets that spark of creativity from the gems that makes her go beyond the normal.
Pinkie Pie stays on the rock farm, never finding a smile. Delivers rocks to Ponyville sadly.
Little Dash is untied after the events of the Rainboom never happen by a very battle hardened RD of the future. "Come with yourself if you want to be cool."
Nightmare Moon rules the future as Trixie never had the destiny to gather the elements, and even ends up betraying Celestia to be on the winning team.
Rainbow Dash escapes going beyond a rainboom to escape, ends up in the past.

Another Celestia tier episode.

Highlights (MASSIVE SPOILERS):
* Sonic Rainboom pretty much decided from the start. Fan poll was a tease.

* Seems Scootaloo is even more of a tomboy than Rainbow dash, judging by her lack of tolerance for that mushy stuff. Perhaps her's objections are intended to be the one the male fanbase can project through.

* Apple Jack's parents live in the city? That was unexpected. Seeing her attempting to put on city pony airs adds a bit of depth to the character. Also, it seems Granny Smith was born old.

* Rarity going along with her unicorn horn's wishes with a look of general resignation on her face the whole way was funny, although her story overall was probably the least interesting of the mane 6.

* Spike's origin story thrown in for good measure. I always thought that maybe he was a conjured familiar of Twilight Sparkle. This turned out to be pretty close! The way she exploded with such magic as to bring Celestia herself to attend to this dangerous new prodigy, also interesting.

* Fan kid Fluttershy was cuter, this one was awkward and gangly, which is a good juxtaposition for her later grace. Fluttershy singing: cute overload moment.

* Pinkie Pie was raised by Amish ponies? That was unexpected. And yes, she made the Amish party.

Essentially Pinkie takes the no nonsense development of Applejack, albeit with less fun.
Applejack takes on the fashionista style of Rarity
Rarity takes the quiet and less outgoing style of Fluttershy.
Fluttershy ends up a bookworm in a Library like TS.
Twilight Sparkle is still her, but something in her powers is telling her something is wrong about the way things are. Her powers are still growing, but much slower without that moment of clarity.
Rainbow Dash meets herself from the Future and learns how she never found a reason to push herself beyond the limit. Not for lack of trying. Ended up in the cloud shifting division over ponyville. Her cutie mark just a cloud with no RainBolt.
Young RD is appalled and wonders how she ever found the speed to make it back in time.
We learn it was the sacrifice of her new friends at the hooves of Nightmare Moon. The magic TS had never released as a Filly was so much it gave her the moment they needed to escape. Pinkie rock bucking and Orangejack threatening a lawsuit.

Awesome episode. and soooo much HNNNNG. Theres just so much in this episode

Applejack's story was nice but seriously....MANEhattan...Fillydelphia i can take but MANE.FRIGGIN.HATTAN?

Fluttershy's was sooo cute and that song.

Rarity's was funny, loved her annoyed face while she was dragged everywhere. and angry filly rarity made me lol.

Twilight's story was cute and funny. liked the look of her parents and the magic stuff was awesome(also adult Spike?).

Pinkie pie broke my friggin brain when she appeared in the cart. i seriously went "huh...pinkie...where,how,how long has she been there,where did she come fro...WHAT.....i...i just......MY HEAD IS FULL OF DERP AND I'M LOVING IT."

I just had a thought about filly Fluttershy... (Speculation mode, go!)

In an earlier episode, she mentions being 'one year older'. In this episode, she looks taller than the other fillies and colts around her and she's awkward in comparison to her peers. Yet she grows up to be 'like a delicate flower' who becomes a famous model (despite not wanting the attention). Was this an attempt to console kids who are hitting puberty older than their friends and/or just not fitting in? In other words, sending a message: "give it time, you'll grow out of your awkward phase, and might even become a beautiful butterfly in your own way." Granted, I know it's probably just to accentuate the 'earth pony heart in a pegasus body' factor for Fluttershy, but the parallels are still there.

Also, Pinkie Pie with rainbows in her eyes made me think of harmony harmony oh love~ but I don't have a pic I can caption... :(

Pinkie Pie wasn't Amish. That's actually closer to Applejack's origin story, especially with how the Amish actually do send their kids out into the world when they come of age, to choose whether they'll stay "modern" or return home--thus ensuring the only people among the Amish are those who prefer the lifestyle.

Rock farming is a metaphor for some manner of esoteric genetics and/or nanotechnology research. This really was the story of how Equestria began, told through extreme metaphor. Pinkie Pie was a scientist who, through ideals of partying and laughter, formed the molds in which the civilization to follow would be cast. So much so that PInkie's memory of the event got passed down through the ages, letting a future pink pony in each generation know the truth while unfortunately afflicting her with mild insanity as a side effect.

Also, Celestia had been selectively preparing the various family lines of the mane cast for the arrival of each Element for so long that when Rainbow Dash discovered her own power, the effects were explosive enough to trigger the "awakening" of ALL the other five ponies.

After all, there's a reason nopony's ever done a Sonic Rainboom before Rainbow Dash, nor since. She began the legend. All six of the mane cast are minor deities in their own right, Celestia having specifically engineered their existence over the last thousand years. She wasn't able to use the Elements of Harmony alone to their full effect, and so could not turn Nightmare Moon back into her sister Luna, only seal her away in the moon. The entire existence of the mane cast is Celestia's attempt at redemption for what she perceives as her greatest failure.

Personally I didn't care for it much at all. I saw it coming very early on that this was going to be "OMG RAINBOW IS SO AWESOME SHE GOT US ALL OUR CUTIE MARKS" and that's about it. Not all that much humor, though Spike cracked me up at the end, mostly because I agreed with him. I get where they were going with the "fate" ish thing, but this just felt like it was putting way too much emphasis on Dash from the very start and I enjoyed the explanation of the others' cutie marks less for it. I'm not the biggest Dash fan though, I'd probably think different if I were.

Spoiler tagging the whole thing for the sake of those who didn't notice the above YouTube links.

This episode made me love Rainbow Dash more than I already do. She's already tied for Fluttershy as my favorite of the mane cast, but knowing that she helped them figure out their callings makes made me want to jump into the TV and glomp her like Pinkie.

Loved every minute of the episode. Applejack's story was cute, Fluttershy's was even cuter (WE NEED MORE FLUTTERSHY MUSICAL NUMBERS!), Rarty's made me lol the whole time, Twilight's was pretty awesome, Pinkie's was funny and cute all at the same time, and I've already made my love for Rainbow's story clear. I also found Scootaloo's reactions pretty funny, I actually like her more now than I used to. Favorite episode of the season so far!

It explains why the Sun Celebration is in Ponyville, of all places, on that specific year. Celestia knew who Twilight needed to meet and when; she just had to come up with a way to bring them together. For that matter, Celestia probably made sure the books Twilight would need were in both libraries, since her student would have to get the info somehow without her telling anything. Great Episode!!!
I expected some cute and maybe entertaining stories but this Episode had so much to offer:
- Applejack wanted to get away from the farm
- How Twilight jumps around the CMC when she gets back from her flashback
- young fluttershy Cute CUTE CUTE
- sad Rockfarm Pinkie D:
- So rarity is just rarity but still nice flashback (even so i don't think she really needed the gems)
- dash influenced them all with her sonic rainboom
- baby spike
- singing

Episode 22 was good but this Episode was just awesome. If every CMC Episode ends up being that good i want more.

I didn't go on Ponychan at all today, because I was down-right terrified by all the potential spoilers. It was all worth it, though.

I came into this episode knowing it would be Celestia Tier just because of the premise. Even if the episode itself was average, the fact that the story is expanded so much meant that it would have to be more enjoyable than the average pony-episode.

-5 minutes in, and I knew that thsi was my favorite episode with how all the stories corresponding eachother.
-The moment Fluttershy started singing, I realized that this was my favorite show ever. Sure I loved the show prior, but I had always experienced some contradictions. Nevermore ponies, for I am a true bony, in the flesh.

My favorite story was Twilight's, but "teleporting" Pinkie Pie's was the most surprising. I'd make some comment about Lyra and Bon Bon being the smae age in the flashbacks as they are now, but this is the same world as Dr. Hooves, so no argument is required.

I'm probably overreacting, but this is still my favorite episode, and at least the definitive Celestia Tier holder the show has to offer.

Poor Scootaloo, this episode drove her crazy; I just wanted to reach in the screen and hug her (more than normally that is).

Lastly, I still can't believe that even after viewing all the fan art portraying Filly Fluttershy, she still managed to blow away my expectations (in other words...DAAAAAAAAW)

Reaction:

1) I felt my heart has just melted due to cuteness overdose in the end. I didn't know my rock-heart can virtually meltdown.

2) Tears of joy started forming in my eyes as I watched their collective hug :)

3) It's like 20 mins after I have finished watching and just noticed I'm still smiling wide, constantly. The muscles in my face started to hurt xDD

Actually the correct term would be Pegasuses, using an i would be a hypercorrection.

The idea that it would use an i because of Greek origins doesn't make sense becuase there isn't a plural of Pegasus in Greek since it was a name of one winged horse not the name of many.

Also, using i in english 'because it sounds better' makes me physically hurt. English, like all languages, has specific rules for these things and this is not one of them.

Even despite the awesomeness of the Sonic Rainboom[.spoiler], each story was awesome on its' own regardless of the [spoiler]story-branching importance of the rainbow. Hell, I even knew it would happen because of previous foreshadowing and it was just as awesome as I hoped.
Love the mini versions of all the ponies, even the supporting cast members. Plus Twilight's parents look cool.
Actually, changing my stance mid-post. My favourite story was Twilight's; her parents look awesome, her reasons for taking up magic are adorable and admirable and in character, it gives us the origins of Spike and how she met Celestia (I squee'd when I saw the dragon egg; I knew what was coming.) and it even provides some backup for the events of the first two episodes; Celestia picked her out for her immense magical power! Plus, "yesyesyesyesyesyesyesyesyesyes (ad infinitum)"

I just got back from watching it on YouTube. Spoilered text contains my opinion.

That was the most amazing, beautiful, cute, touching episode I've ever seen in my entire life. I came home excited for it. By the time I got halfway through the episode, I was literally squirming in my seat trying to stay quiet and not squeal too much, lest I disturb my parents. The amount of cute I witnessed today...well, it was just AWESOME. The whole thing. All of their stories were great. Fluttershy's song made me want to jump up and down like a little girl. The ending made me tear up, making this the second MLP episode to ever have that effect on me (the first being Friendship is Magic, Part 2). But no other episode has made me this happy. No other episode has made me grin from ear to ear, barely able to contain my glee, for the entire 22 minutes. Celestia tier fo sho.

Am I the only pony who didn't think this episode was all that spectacular?

I mean, yeah, they were ABSOLUTELY ADORABLE as fillies. And some of their Cutie-Mark stories were good, but not ALL of them. Rarity's and Applejack's just plain sucked.

Furthermore, it was far too Rainbow-centric for an entire mane cast story. At first I thought all their stories would tie into each other, yet as it progressed I realized it was just Rainbow's tying in again, and again, and again.... That's just bad writing, imo. Rainbow Sue, anypony?

This episode is great; it may be my favorite. But it doesn't particularly stand alone. The backstories were only epic because of what we know about the characters and the holes that had been left there. And that's why it succeeds - now only does it fill so many of those holes, but it fills them in ways we weren't expecting. Everypony knew that Dash had performed a Rainboom as a filly, but nopony could have expected it would have been the catalyst that lead to each pony finding their mark. And each story itself progressed in ways that we weren't expecting - except for Rarity's, possible, which was a bit of a letdown.

Between this episode explaining so much backstory and the season finale being the long-awaited Gala, I'm really having a lot more faith in this show's ability to build continuity and long-term plots. I hope the developers reflect on what the fans reacted well to this series and tie those elements in for season two. I'm all for episodes having independent focuses instead of being only very small parts of a larger chapter, but that doesn't mean that things can't be building towards something amazing either.

I don't understand total dislike over this episode. I can see being disappointed that your fav pony didn't get more screen time, or wishing that their backstory went differently, or even over the Rainboom's far-reaching effects, even though that was the major theme here ... but actually disliking the whole episode? Also, Twilight confirmed for potential future goddess, and Rainbow Dash for having the potential to rip open timespace. The rainboom shockwave awakened the Elements of Harmony, and that's why their cutie marks were all connected on that day.

I have to admit, Rarity's backstory definitely felt the most shoehorned. I loved Applejack; her story really adds depth to her character about why she scorns regal lifestyle. Fluttershy's was cute, but maybe a little rushed. Pinkie Pie having Amish parents was hilarious, if a little stretched. Twilight's shows a good deal of backstory. And RD tied it all together. Rarity's was pretty much "She can find rocks with her horn. Cool."

Empathy of the character in context yknow. Some kids get bored by cute. Don't say some of you guys never found a musical number in a cartoon annoying.

So, yeah. Scoots doesn't like sappy music but likes rock and roll like stuff.

I still think it was a terrific episode.

Using RD's first Sonic RainBoom to kinda tie the stories together was perfectly fine by me. In fact, I didn't really catch what was going on until Rarities rock broke open. It's not like RD had some master plan to do this, and bring them all together so they could defeat Midnight Moon later, etc etc etc. She was in a race, did a SRB, got her cutie mark, end of story as far as she was concerned. That the others were influenced by it was basically dumb luck.

Celestia tier, IMHO, along with last weeks, the SRB episode, Winter WrapUp, and (yes, I know I'm in the minority here) the first two episodes. I can't wait to d/l it, and watch it about half dozen times instantly.

Possible explanation for the bullies not remembering Rainbow Dash doing a sonic rainboom as a filly.... you'll recall they got knocked out of the race (and apparently knocked out.) At the speed of sound, in a few seconds she would have been miles away and clean out of sight when the sonic rainboom happened.... and most people who saw it didn't know what it was, much less what caused it.

On the subject of "pegasi" (yeees, THIS again) I feel I should point out that "Pegasus" IS Latin. It's the Latin form of the Greek Πήγασος (Pegasos). And it's second declension, which means that its plural form would indeed be "Pegasi" (ignoring the fact that there was legendarily only one Pegasus).

To sum up: there is NOTHING wrong with pluralizing "pegasus" as "pegasi".

(But please don't write "pegasii", because that IS wrong.)

* Twilight's parents! Also, Spike as a hatchling is ADORABLE! He used his tail as a pacifier! Though I thought his egg was supposed to be purple and green.
* IF Pinkie's story is true and not just her being the tremendous parasprite that she can be, then holy crap! I call bullshit, though, cuz didn't Granny Pie tell her to laugh at fears to make them vanish?
* I thought it was kinda lame that they were all tied together by Dash's sonic rainboom, but whatever. Pinkie glomping Dash (and Dash grunting in surprise when it happens) was adorable.
* Spike's "Gross! When did you become so cheesy?!" at the end of Twilight's letter saved the episode for me. I was just about to write it off as a good episode that petered out at the end, but he saved it.

Incoming speculation.

Princess Celestia saw the appearance of the Sonic Rainboom as one of the signs that the the bearers of the Elements of Harmony (the mane cast) were nearing the time of their intended purpose (redeeming Nightmare Moon). However, since the Sonic Rainboom was indeed an ancient and forgotten act, it was more than likely that it's appearance would cause mass panic.

In order to quiet the pony masses and keep order, Celestia clouded the minds of everypony regarding the memory of the Rainboom, with the exception of Rainbow Dash (destroying such a powerful memory, the point where a pony gets her cutie mark, would be unfeasible and downright risky to Dash). This explains why, for the longest time, the ponies only remember "beautiful rainbows" or "loud explosions" when thinking of the event leading to the actual sonic rainboom.

I enjoyed myself plenty with this episode avatar-state-twilight really threw me for a loop, but does anypony else have trouble getting past the weirdness of the crazier faces sometimes? This one for instance...

The depth of the snout's just... not there. Adjust the ear and it might as well be a person! It is slightly...unsettling to me...

I've seen this before!" when they witness it there. Before it happens in SRB, Pinkie even says "I've never actually seen one, but..." and Fluttershy backs that up at the end of the same scene, saying "She's tried that trick 100 times and it hasn't worked once." So it's possible that Celestia cast a spell to make certain that no one knew about the rainboom except for Dash. (And who's going to believe a kid when they say they did something impossible?)

Up until this episode, I did wonder if the talk about 'did it once as a filly' was just RD bragging to cover up her own insecurities/stage fright. Now that I think of it, perhaps even she was affected - not to the point of forgetting the event entirely, but to the point of thinking it was a fluke. After all, as a kid she was acting on instinct and adrenaline, so it's not like she knew how to do it. So when she tried again, it failed every time. This worked out for the best: with RD not being able to do the rainboom again, there were no unneeded/unexpected complications that could stop the 6 from meeting in Ponyville later. Taking care of Nightmare Moon was the first priority, after all.

Which makes me wonder...perhaps the sonic rainboom is actually something Dash can only do when inspired by her Element of Harmony? Even if it's under the surface, what matters is the inspiration. First time - to help her friend Fluttershy. Second time - to save Rarity's life. Twilight might be the same when it comes to Magic as an Element of Harmony, versus her personal skill at magic. Both times when she went 'avatar state', it was due to some event that was a trigger, rather than Twilight herself starting it. This could mean that the others can also go beyond the impossible, in the right situations. It just hasn't happened yet.

Heh, thinking about things like this is pretty fun...and exactly why I don't need to check threads before bed.

Well I just watched it, not much to say really, except excellent episode. Rarity's backstory was a bit disappointing, but still entertaining. But everypony elses' back story actually gave some more depth and insight into their character (especially Pinkie Pie living on a rock farm, oh my god - assuming her story was accurate) which is something I've been hoping we would get more of. And this is one of the few episodes to focus on the overarching storyline (if you can call it that, as it's only been mentioned in a very few eps), that is the almost supernatural connection between the mane cast.

This is definitely NOT an episode to show somepony who's never seen the show before. It would be confusing and honestly I think it's more satisfying to watch this ep late in the season because it fills in a lot of missing information.

Well, besides the fact that Trixie's and Twilight's dad's mark look almost nothing alike...

Cutie marks aren't a trait that is passed down genetically, they are based off the pony's true life calling. So even if they were the same, it wouldn't mean they are directly related, it would mean they have the calling in life.

Perhaps proven by Doctor Whoof and the green pony pictured here.
