Game Maker Compilation Post #1

For those unaware, Game Maker is a software engine designed to allow users to easily create games using a simplified interface. It even comes with it's own scripting language. The handy lite version is free to use, and thus it's a common platform for pony game development. However, it is not without its problems. As easy as it is to use, it's limited, and is often dismissed by more serious developers. The lite version, in particular, makes it very difficult for one to share their game in a web-friendly format, meaning that games made in Game Maker often get very little exposure.

Thus, we've created the Game Maker compilation post, designed to showcase what's been made in this little engine. As this is a compilation-style post, this is not a showcase of the best of the best, but an exhibit of everything--however, some really neat, challenging little games slip by under the radar. Today we've got some Pinkie Pie platforming, pegasus blasting, and even a Tank game lined up after the break!

Our first game of the day is a work-in-progress, currently being developed by Hawk Johenson. Soar through the skies as Rainbow Dash and Fluttershy, blasting any parasprite that gets in your way! The game is currently unfinished, but give it a playthrough anyway, and give him a shout if you can help him solve his sprite shortage.

Pinkie's Lost Element (The Lost Element,) a game by Zilven Sparkle, is one of the more impressive Game Maker games I've had the opportunity to play. Yes, it's a Pinkie Pie platformer, but there's an impressive number of Pinkie sprites and a variety of power-up mechanics that give it some pizazz.

After his episode aired, I was optimistic that we'd see more of Tank - however, he's slipped into relative obscurity. As such, games starring the turbo tortoise are few and far between. SuperRaccoon has stepped in to fill the void--use your powers of rock stacking to your best advantage as you adventure through the canyon.

If you've got thoughts about the new periodical, comment away below! And of course, if you know of a Game Maker game that you'd like to see up here, hit up our submission page.

I never even knew about the Tank game until now, but from the gameplay, it's very clear we need to see more of the rock steady turtle with Shades! Rock makes for a very good puzzler.. it might not be very advanced, but does it really have to be? I look forward to seeing more of the Tank Game, and who knows? If if is anything like I expect it to be, you might have to be pretty dang smart to read the programmer's mind to solve his riddles! I wish the luck, SuperRaccoon, for you've got a good idea on your hooves, and so far, I'm very happy with the execution!

As for the idea of doing these compilation posts? I wouldn't even have been able to play this without your idea, Arctic Lux! Please, keep it up to shine some light on these subjects!
As a Game Maker developer, I'm happy to see this post here, (there's even one of my games!) this site just got 20% more cooler... I'm also happy to see that SuperRaccoon's Tank game got some recognition, keep it up!

Precure Magica (my rpg, it was posted on e3 compilation 2) is made with GM.
All my others are made with Multimedia Fusion, which I prefer.
:)
A pinkie pie platformer... made in Game Maker... and It's Good?!?!?!
I'm passing out. is this real life?
on 2nd thought the Pinkie pie platformer needs a tad bit of work.
especially in the jump physics department.
Hey, guys. Hawk here, creator of Pegasus Attack.

If anyone here is interested in helping with some custom sprite work for the shooter up above, please get in touch with me. My email is hjohenson@hotmail.com. I can promise that you will be credited fully for the work, and a link to any other works you have will be placed in the ReadMe of the final game.
This post seems very legit.
Okay, there's something funky going on in that Pinkie Pie platformer. The screen goes permanently white when the lightning comes in, making the game unplayable from that point. I know I can disable the lightning, but that's only ion the beginning. I don't feel like playing though again just because of that.

I've had that issue before in Luna Game 5 Fanmade. When lighting was used, it made the background go white entirely. Making the intestine part completely unplayable because you can not see where you are walking at all. Game Maker is Picky about graphics cards, and I hate that regard since it alienates potential fanbase! I'm with you there, pal!
OF COURSE THE PEGASUS ATTACK ONE IS A RAR FILE!!!!!!! I CAN'T DOWNLOAD RAR FILES!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! >:P

I beat the Pinkie Pie game. That was pretty good, even though I ran into some glitches. Does anyone know what the little green orb things in the Discord battle are for?

Just beat the Tank game. I really liked that. There was some great puzzles and platforming in there. I liked the music too. The bonus level was cool too and I liked how the ending was done with the credits on the signs while carrying Rainbow Dash to safety.
