Vilevault Castle Island:
 
~~~~The Crystal Ball~~~~
 
    The crystal ball is a barrier of magical energy surrounding most of Vilevault Castle Island. The barrier itself has no visible appearance, but from the actions of clouds coming into contact with the barrier that it is some sort of magical windstorm that keeps anything from passing through. The barrier even extends into the water, causing any ships and creatures that enter it to be sucked into the murky depths below to never be seen again. Many attempts have been made to either dispel or break through the barricade, but so far none have succeeded. Since creatures with flight and boats break under the barriers might, Vilevault Castle Island has been cut off from the outside world. Even magical forms of communication are blocked by the barrier. Furthermore, for some odd reason there have been no boats or fliers from the mainland since the barrier came up. It has been postulated that the barrier renders the island invisible from the outside, though no one knows for sure.
 
    The name of the barrier comes from the shape of the barrier itself, resembling a crystal ball sitting on a pedestal. The barrier appears to be two separate magical entities. The first is the "pedestal" part of the barrier that contains the first two layers of the castle as well as part of the third, while the "ball" is a sphere with the King's Chamber as the center point. Interestingly enough about the barrier is that you cannot fly through the "pedestal" part of the sphere up to the "ball" part, though you can do the reverse. The only way to pierce the shield is from certain passageways within the castle. This bottleneck ensures that no large force of people can come through the claim the top layers. Currently the City of Sanctuary is attempting to secure safe passage up through the barrier, as well as studying the passageways to see if they can be copied and used to circumvent the crystal ball in other areas, or all together.
 
~~~~King's Chamber~~~~
    Little is known about the King's Chamber other than it was the home of Elegy Star herself, and similar in size to both the Prince's and Queen's Chambers, and may even have the same general lay out. Other than that however, the only well known thing about the bastion atop Vilevault Castle Island is that it is the home to many dragons loyal to the Warp Witch. There have been many assaults  from above by pegasi and gryphons, however none have even managed to enter the fortifications before being incinerated or routed. With the rise of the Crystal ball it has been assumed that the Warp Witch has risen again, and controls the island from the King's Chamber like she did before. The ultimate goal of most of the civilized races upon the island is the conquering of this chamber, though most will reluctantly agree that such a feat is still far into the future.
