Like they wanted it to last forever." >Moondancer looked to you for an answer >All you could do is shrug >Moondancer thought on it before speaking up >"It wasn't meant as a distress signal, it was a warning." >Moondancer pulled up a map >"That moon was the farthest thing away from Naboo and the closest to outer space. It's meant to show others that Naboo is no longer a safe haven, it's fallen to the empire." >Flash tapped your arm >"That's why they left the papers i bet, they were just laying on the floor." "Great. Now thanks to me they won't know." >"Huh?" "I tossed them into the air to make our escape. They must be unreadable by now." >Gilda stepped into the conversation >"Still left a pile of bodies. That oughta be warnin enough." >You nodded in agreement before you had a realization "Fuck!" >Everyone looked at you "I killed that guy." >Gilda humphed >"What else is new?" "You don't understand." >You say in an exasperated tone "I used my saber, and that straggler saw it too!" >"So?" >Flash agreed "So they'll know it was us. The empire's going to realize our plan, they're going to track us." >"You big idiot!" >Gilda shoved you against the wall >"You just screwed us!" >Moondancer stood at your side >"Lay off of him. He was just trying to help. Right?" >She looks up at you with hopeful eyes "Well, yeah. The guy was in rough shape." >Gilda glared at Moondancer and she tightened her grip on your arm >"It's still his fault we had to stop. This jackass could've voted to ignore that damn signal." >"If he did we would've probably wandered into an Imperial trap. Naboo's capital is probably crawling with Imperial troops by now." >Gilda wanted to be mad but she knew Moondancer was right >Instead she cursed loudly and punched the wall next to your face >She leaned in and spoke in a hushed tone >"You owe me 100,000 credits jackass, and I'm getting them or its your head." >She left briskly >Moondancer clung to your arm in an effort to help you stand straight again" >"She didn't hurt you did she?" "I'm fine. Pretty used to her threats by now, but I'm almost positive she'll try to kill me if i don't get her the money." >Moondancer continued to pine over you >Flash was shooting the dirties look his handsome face could muster >"Just leave it to me, I know exactly where to go next!" "But, the empire..." >"They won't be able to find us." "How are you so sure?" >"Because we'll be hiding right under the emperor's nose. Set the course Flash." >Flash rolled his eyes and sighed audibly >"Where to, captain?" >"Zero."     >In a not too distant corner of the galaxy a foul curse is uttered by an otherwise dignified mouth >Octavia pulled her finger back as she pinched herself again >Fixing the engine was always harder when Vinyl wasn't around to help >This time it was Vinyl's turn to fetch the bounty >Shooting down an Imperial transport was tough work, and they're ship wasn't spared without a few battle scars >One of the TIE's managed to cripple one of their thrusters before being blasted out of the sky >Adagio and her Dazzles took care of the messy part of the job afterward >It would all be worth it though, the job was set to pay 100,000 credits >More than enough for a professional repair for the shield generator and the thruster >Food or medicine wasn't in short supply >That thief Aria made sure to clean them out before they left >Sighing the Nagai dropped the wrench in her hand and wiped her forehead not realizing how dirty it was until it was too late >Groaning this time she picked up the wrench and started whacking the thruster, denting the cone in several places >Her exercise was interrupted by the unexpectedly quick arrival of her crew >Octavia dropped the wrench again refusing to be seen in such a state whilst in company >"Well? Ladies I assume you bring me good news?" >She attempted a smile in their gloomy presence >The girls hopped off the cramped speeder as Vinyl drove it slowly into the cargo hold >Adagio, leader of the Nautolan pirates spoke up >"Someone stole our bounty!" >"What!?" >"Pirou isn't giving us the money because he says we didn't kill the ambassador!" >Vinyl came back out and looked over Octavia's work >"But i shot down his ship. You saw me!" >"You think I'm blind? But that didn't kill him." >Octavia shook her head >"You're the one who deals with the clean up. Why didn't you do it?" >Adagio grunted and stared at her two cronies >"I wasn't the one who climbed in the ship." >Aria confronted her >"Nobody on board that thing was breathing when i checked!" >"Don't yell at Aria she was just doing her job!" >"I don't need your help Sonata." >"Well then i don't need your help." >Adagio pulled on her tendrils >"You're both idiots." >Octavia separated them >"And you're supposed to be responsible for them. Why didn't you check yourself?" >"Humph. I thought i could trust them with these one easy task. Clearly i was wrong." >Vinyl climbed into the thruster and banged out a few dents >"Fine. Mistakes were made, let's leave it at that. Did Pirou say who did kill him? Who took our money?" >Adagio's mood changed >"He said it was some Jedi doing a public service. Nobody's come in to collect the money and he isn't going to just give it away." >"How can he know that?" >Adagio produced a small holodisk and played the message >A miniature Twilight Sparkle appeared in blue shimmering light >"Big brother? I found the Ambassador. He wasn't dead...at least not until these two other people came." >Twilight rubbed her eye before turning grim >"I think one of them was a filthy Jedi, he destroyed the treaty and killed Mr. Wilhelm with a lightsaber." >Vinyl stopped her banging >"I sent a message to the new Imperial office on Naboo to come collect the remains. I'm sorry I couldn't reach him in time, I know you're going to rendezvous with King Sombra to help him out so i won't keep you any longer. Wish him my best in his hunt for those no good pretenders, and please ask him to be on the lookout for a Jedi with a short saber. Goodbye." >Octavia took the holo disk in her hand >"A Jedi with a short saber?" >Vinyl climbed out and started packing her tools >"What do you think? Was he after the money?" >Octavia turned the disk over in her hand >"Why would he destroy that treaty and then kill the ambassador?" >Adagio paid her no mind and looked over to Vinyl >"Hey Jockey! Is that ship ready?" >The blue haired Firrereo gave her a thumbs up >"Alright then. Ready to go captain? I think Pirou might want to bargain with us once we break out the big guns" >Octavia tucked the disc away, Pirou promised them a payment for a job well done >And that job was to shoot down the transport and its crew >No one mentioned an Ambassador "Yes, let's."   ---   >Twilight had settled on the planet Naboo gaining trade as a minister in the new government >Her duties were simple enough, shuffling paperwork from one desk to another >However that was hardly enough to get her mind off the recent death of her friend >But she did as her brother had told her >She had contacted him after the authorities on the planet >Someone had to reclaim his body >Twilight read over yet another clause before approving it blindly >All these new laws benefited the emperor anyways >For the first time in a week Twilight stop stamping and stared out the window lost in thought >She shouldn't be here >Alone in her spacious office Twilight dared to exercise herself >Focusing on a distant pitcher of water she held out her hand >A moment of silence >Then it happened >Trembling slightly the pitcher lifted itself off the silver platter and held itself >Swallowing hard she moved her fingers slightly and the pitcher followed >Slowly but surely the pitcher moved closer to her >It had just passed over the edge of her desk when the door swung open >Twilight panicked and reached out of her chair to grasp the pitcher >She pulled it back quickly and spilled the contents over her blouse as her secretary entered the room >"Oh, my. I'm so sorry to barge in on you unannounced minister. Are you alright?" >Twilight looked wide eyed between her and the half empty jug in her hands >"Of course! Why wouldn't i be fine?" >She faked a smile >"Well, madam you spilled water on yourself." >"What this? Oh, it's fine really. I was just...um...really, really thirsty. Yeah! See." >Twilight proceeded to drink directly from the mouth of the pitcher spilling slightly more water on herself >She pulled it away with a satisfying sigh >"Ahh. Delicious water. Heh heh. Uh, what do you have there? Coco?" >Coco held her documents nervously as she watched her >"Oh, um. These are new orders from the Capital, they're documents to approve a new fencing institute right here on Naboo." >She wondered whether or not to hand them to her >"Uh, great! Can i see them?" >Twilight held out her hand >"O-Oh. Right, perhaps you should dry off first, ma'am?" >Twilight realized what she was trying to do and put the pitcher down, stepping around her desk >"Well let's see what we have here." >Twilight took the papers and read them besides Coco >"It looks like they want to use one of the old libraries, oh good they're going to relocate the books for safekeeping. That's a relief." >She shared a smile with Coco >"Um, oh they're taking students immediately. It doesn't even seem like they'll have an entrance exam for it. Lightsabers?" >"Oh, the dean is going to be one of the emperor's best generals, King Sombra of the Sith. Isn't your brother working with him?" >Twilight stopped >"Yes." >"How exciting that your brother gets to work with royalty." >Twilight kept reading >"King Sombra isn't just looking for anybody though, just those passionate enough to...hunt Jedi."   ---   >"Again!" >Gilda had agreed to fence with you if only to pass the time, the cargo hold made a good studio >You lift your saber up and over your head >It's length wasn't impressive considering it was the same one from your childhood >The shoto in your hand couldn't compare to Gilda's saber >Her blade was easily twice your reach >"That toy of yours isn't going to help you when you get in a real fight." "It's done the job right so far." >"Sneaking around and stabbing people behind their back isn't doing the job right." "Maybe not, but it gets it done. Quick too." >Gilda leered at you before lunging >From your high guard you bring down the saber to skate her blade away from your body >She whips around and arcs and attack at your head which you dodge effectively >Well inside her guard you lift your saber to mock an attack at her throat >Gilda swings wildly at you batting your saber away as you bring it up to defend yourself >"Alright so it's easy to handle. Big deal. Not like you can do anything else if i don't let you get close." >You shake your head and extend your blade out to her, at eye level "I don't need to get that close. Just close enough." >You wave your saber at her inviting her to attack >Gilda snarls at you and brings her saber in a vertical downward slash >She nearly yelps as she misses her target, your saber, by a mile >Before she can get her blade back up you rush forward and swing at her head stopping just inches from her lovely pale hair >Gilda's amber eyes pierce your gaze as you make eye contact >"You think you're so cool." >You smirk and she pushes you away >"Again." >The ship lurches as it comes out of hyperspace >Moondancer's voice broke over the intercom >"We have arrived at our destination." >Gilda steps forward one last time and jabs her saber next to your neck >You spread your arms out in surrender before dropping them at your side >"Anon, aren't you going to come up and have a look?" "Guess that means we're done for the day." >You step back and spin your saber before withdrawing it >Gilda draws her saber closer >"We'll keep going soon as we hit the ground. And you're getting a new saber too dork, that thing's too short to mount a proper attack." >You nod your head in agreement before heading up the ramp >Gilda lagged behind >As she walked into the cockpit the world came into view >"Lady and gentlemen, I give you the ring world of Zero." >Far off in the distance a gas giant was surrounded by a monolithic structure equally as impressive >The planet's purple hue helped the silver structure appear more vibrant >Even at the distance you all were from it green forests and blue lakes were easily visible >A bright yellow star served as the central body of the system >Light filtering through the thick glass panels shifted in hue throughout the lands >You followed the interesting sliver of light as it changed colors on the landscape from a brilliant green to a faded orange >There were no mountain ranges to be seen yet but a large shadow crept over the land in the west >As the ring rotated you noted it was no mere shadow >A large gray paneling was covering up part the sky in that particular part of the ring world >You also became aware of the color of the trees surrounding the panels >What you thought was a dusked forest revealed itself to be more fermented, as though by a sickness >You felt cold overtake you >"Isn't this great anon? The empire stopped coming here a while back, they won't even send patrols this way. We'll be perfectly safe here!" >Flash took over >"The Emperor abandoned this place after the clone wars. It used to be a live in mining colony until production stopped." >He smugly smiled in Moondancer's direction hoping to impress her but she was preoccupied looking at you >"Anon?" >You had become visibly upset, even Gilda took notice >"What's wrong this time?" "I sense a heavy darkness over this place. The wrong side of the force is strong-" >A sudden chill runs up your spine and you shift your gaze quickly around the empty space "How soon can we land?"   ---   >Octavia had taken to letting her guns do the talking for her >Her own blaster was dainty in comparsion to the heavy weapons Pirou's guards were using >But she had her ship hovering behind her as she negotiated a new deadline for the bounty >The salvaged bt-7 raised a hell of a whirlwind beneath it whipping her way this way and that >All of its guns were trained on the mobster and his men "So as you can see we took our fair share of blows during the battle old bean. My ship's seen better days and those 100,000 credits would go a long way to help her feel better." >The rat looking alien didn't flinch >"Octavia, you know it can't be helped." >"Except you hired me yourself." >Pirou shook his head >"And if you did your job right you'd have killed the ambassador. But my sources tell me a Jedi finished him for you before being chased away by imperials." >Octavia raised her hand and a humming noise filled the air >"Well..." >Pirou sighed >"Octavia, i loved you like a daughter. I know you put in the effort but you missed your target." >"The job stated to bring down a transport, there's nothing in there about an ambassador." >Octavia crossed her arms and trained her sights directly onto the balding rat >Pirou stroked his beard trying to avoid her gaze >"Alright, then. I'll give you the money." >Octavia's delight was short lived >"If you can bring me the Jedi that killed the ambassador." >"What?" >"You're a good bounty hunter." >"Privateer." >He waved it off >"Yes, yes, privateer. You're good at what you do, I'm sure you wouldn't let me down this time. After all you got a bone to pick with this guy." >"You know where he is?" >Pirou shifted in his seat >Octavia and her company found him along a busy stretch of road just outside the city >Many of the drivers watched in silent awe as the gray skinned woman leapt onto his limousine and engaged him through the sunroof >One of the guards handed him a holodisc >"When the Jedi left he was traced by every satellite and patrol in the area that came to investigate the beacon you set up." >He activated the disc and a small map of the Naboo system came to life >"His ship was tracked as it moved outside the system. He was heading towards black space, outside the galaxy." >He clicked a button and the hologram faded >Handing it to her he continued >"Everything you need to know about this man is on the disc. Description, ship make, various imperial reports you understand." >Octavia stuffed the disc in her pocket >"I'll need an advance on the reward, this man is dangerous after all." >"Oh? How much were you thinking?" >"Fifty thousand, that should be enough to patch my ship and well, my girls don't work for free. And i get another bonus of fifty thousand for bringing him back alive." >"You want 200,000 credits? Octavia, you realize I'm just going to kill him when you bring him to me?" >"You know Jedi are worth more to the Empire alive right?" >Shaking his head Pirou admitted he didn't want to get caught up in 'that' kind of business >"I just want my girls to be happy." >Octavia smiled >"By shaving 50,000 of our reward, right?" >Pirou chuckled and shrugged >"Alright, we'll do the job for 150,000 credits. Now how about that advance?"   ---
