Creating a Shape changer[edit] When making a Shape changer, the first thing to consider is why does your character not like being them, where they bullied as a kid so they have immense insecurity's, or are they a hunted criminal that cant take the risk of showing your face? Quick Build You can make a Shape changer quickly by following these suggestions. First, Intelligence should be your highest ability score, so you know the anatomy, followed by charisma. Second, choose the criminal or charlatan background. Class Features As a Shape changer you gain the following class features. You can change into a creature that has a CR rating that matches your level. When you change shapes you gain the physical stats of the creature but keep the mental stats, like wisdom, charisma and intelligence. You can use this ability an amount of times equal to your level. You can keep your new form for the amount of time equal to half your level in minutes. The creature you become must be a living creature. At 1st level you can only transform into a land creature, at 4th level you can transform into an aquatic creature, and at 8th level you can turn into a flying creature. You cannot cast spells when in shape change form. It takes an action to change. Damage doesn't transfer to your normal form when in a different shape, except when you take enough damage that would cause your shape when in another shape to lower its health to 0 and you would take even more damage the damage then will transfer over to your normal form, e.g: if your in a shape of a bear and you had 15HP and you take 17 damage, your bear would take 15 damage, you'd revert back to your normal form and you would take 2 extra damage. Spell casting[edit] At 1st level you have picked up a few spells over the years. Your spell casting doesn't focus on creating things out of the air, it focuses on altering yourself and those around you. Your spell casting ability is intelligence. Your spell casting focus is your gaming set. Spell casting DC = 8 + proficiency bonus + intelligence modifier. Spell attack bonus = proficiency bonus + intelligence modifier. The amount of spells you know at 1st level is 2, and increases by 1 spell every time you level up. The spells that you know are the spells from the Druid list and any spell that alters your own form. Bestial studies[edit] At 2nd level you can study the body of a creature to increase the length of time you can spend in a different Shape. When you study a creature you must take at least 30 minutes and make a intelligence check to study it, and then you increase the time you can spend in that form, if it is a specific person, then you only increase time spent in the form of that person, not people in general. If the creature that you are studying is dead, the time in that shape increases to equal to your level X 2 in minutes. If the creature you are studying is alive, the amount of time you can spend in that form equals half your levels in hours. Also you can change into a creature that you have examined as a bonus action. Dead creature study DC = 13, living creature study DC = 15 Self defense archetype[edit] At 2nd level you choose a way of making sure that you wont die, the direct and strong or the quick and stealthy. Ability Score Increase[edit] When you reach 4th level, and again at 8th, 12th, 16th and 19th level, you can increase one ability score of you choice by 2, or you can increase two ability scores of your choice by 1. As normal, you can't increase an ability score above 20 using this feature. Shape change spell casting[edit] At 18th level you can now cast all your spells when in the shape change form Mix and match[edit] At 18th level you can combine different shapes with other shapes, combining features to ether create a beautiful creation or or most horrible looking thing ever. When you change shape you can choose to use a second use of your shape change to shift a feature from one of the creatures to another, for example; a tiger with gills. You can also only use one use of shape change to add a feature from the creature to your normal form. Master of disguise[edit] At 20th level you have become a master of disguise, you now have infinite uses of the shape change. Self defense archetypes[edit] Direct and strong[edit] Those who prescribe to the direct and strong way of living is those who will brute force through those who stand in their way. Bears intimidation[edit] At 2nd level you have become part creature yourself. You gain proficiency in intimidation, and if you already are you double your proficiency bonus for intimidation. Bestial logic[edit] At 6th level you have learned to merge your mind and your body when in shape change form, you can now add your intelligence bonus to your damage rolls when in shape change form. Magic shapes[edit] At 10th level when you attack when in a shape change form your attacks are considered magic when it comes to overcoming resistances and immunity's. Frightening change[edit] At 14th level you have learned to change shapes in the most terrifying way. When you change shapes and someone is in view you can make an intimidation check (DC = enemy's wisdom) else the creature becomes afraid of you. Quick and stealthy[edit] Those who prescribe to the quick and stealthy way of living is those who will run and hide at the sight of danger, and that might not be a bad thing. Mouses stealth[edit] At 2nd level you have learned to blend into the shadows when in shape change form. You gain proficiency in stealth, and if you already do you double your proficiency bonus for it. Hidden knowledge[edit] At 6th level your knowledge of changing shapes allows you to hide in the shadows better. You gain the ability to add your intelligence modifier to your stealth check. Shadow change[edit] At 10th level you gain the ability to change forms into the shadows. When you change form you can change into the shadows, allowing you to make a new stealth check. Shadow shape strike[edit] At 14th level you have learned to attack and kill through the shadows when in a different shape. When you make an attack in a different shape and it has surprise it deals double damage. Multiclassing[edit] Prerequisites. To qualify for multiclassing into the Shape changer class, you must meet these prerequisites: 13 Intelligence, proficiency in deception. Proficiencies. When you multiclass into the Shape changer class, you gain the following proficiencies: Disguise kit or forgery kit.
