"Smash Moveset for Kain (Legacy of Kain)" By NudeBeach (https://pastebin.com/u/NudeBeach) URL: https://pastebin.com/LrSc3QVX Created on: Wednesday 12th of August 2020 02:37:09 PM CDT Retrieved on: Saturday 31 of October 2020 03:53:06 PM UTC KAIN IS ON THE EDGE! Up+B: Bat Flight - Kain raises his arms so that his hands are slightly above his head, and turns into a black silhouette of himself, which dissolves into a swarm of cartoonish black bats. The bats fly upwards a great distance before reforming back into the silhouette and then Kain. While the silhouette can take damage, the bats are completely invincible. Has no attack component. Does not cause helplessness. Neutral B: Mist Form - Kain flexes both arms and lengthens the claws on each hand before white mist overtakes him and he vanishes. He will remain invisible until he either takes damage, presses B to cancel this ability, jumps, shields, uses A to do any normal attack, or the move's timer runs out. While invisible, Kain can move in any direction, though he cannot go through walls, and can only move within a small radius of where he started the move. This includes moving upwards, and he can hang in the air indefinitely if the move is started on the ground, though of course this forfeits his first jump. If used in the air, this halts his momentum and the timer is much shorter. Note that anything that ends this move ends it immediately, even beginning to charge a smash attack. Side+B: Telekinetic Bolt - Kain holds one hand forward while the move charges. When the charge is released, he thrusts it forward and fires a small pulsating ring projectile. At no charge, the attack does minor damage and nominal knockback, but at full charge, it does modest damage and strong knockback. Charging does not change the size of the projectile, or any visual element of it. Down+B: Vein Drain - Kain thrusts one hand forward and a small plume of red energy appears a short distance in front of him. If this plume touches an enemy, they are held still while Kain's eyes glow and a ball of red energy emerges from them, which then flies into Kain's mouth; the enemy is then flung backwards by a fixed distance. This unblockable grapple heals Kain, damages the foe, and replaces this ability with the enemy's Down+B special. Kain can discard absorbed specials with one of his taunts, and will also lose it upon dying, or simply taking enough damage, much like Kirby. While Kain has a special absorbed, the Soul Reaver has its appearance altered based on the character affected, and/or their home franchise. Final Smash: Vae Victus - Kain does a diagonal upwards-and-towards-the-screen slash with the Reaver while stepping forward. If it hits, he does a series of rapid slashes that alternate between the slash described above, downwards-and-towards-the-screen, upwards-and-away, and downards-and-away, but all at the same angle. As he does this the Reaver starts to glow with white energy, and the screen darkens and turns black, before the lights come back on to reveal Kain and all affected enemies are now in the Vampire Citadel. Then, the white glow breaks off of the Reaver, and becomes a phantasm of Raziel, made of the same energy, wielding the Spirit Reaver, behind the affected enemies. Kain and Raziel do a series of furious attacks with their blades, jumping towards and away from the enemies with choreography that makes it difficult to tell if this is a team-up attack, or if they're trying to fight each other, but the enemies are getting in the way. The final blow has Kain snarl and deliver a strong two-handed downwards slash while Raziel delivers a strong upwards one. The action returns to the level in a flash of flight, and the enemies are flung upwards. Good damage, great knockback. Note: His pummel has him bite the enemy, which restores a tiny amount of health to him. He wields the Soul Reaver and uses it in many normals. Kain is deceptive and difficult to put down. He is of above-average weight, average mobility, and can wall-jump. He has a heal, a partially-invincible recovery with great height gain, and can stall with Mist Form. Mist Form is a gamble that depends on the Kain player deceiving the enemy about his current location, and TK Bolt is designed to be hard to see in a heated fight, or if you're not paying attention to Kain, and the enhanced knockback can take you by surprise - plus the starting animations of TK Bolt and Vampiric Drain look similar, but have to be reacted to in almost opposite ways. Kain's attacks often have better knockback than they do damage, making combos difficult, but frequently allowing him to create space between him and his foes. Between this and his focus on trickery, he has to be played slowly and thoughtfully.
