- >You are Anonymous.
- >It's about a decade or so before the actual events of FiM begin.
- >You are helping at a Canterlot daycare.
- >It's volunteer work, so no pay.
- >But seeing all the cute foals is enough payment for you.
- >End of the day.
- >Most parents have come to pick up their kids.
- >"Yes, I'll see you tomorrow too, Moondancer!" The owner of the daycare, Kind Heart, shouts out the door as the mentioned filly leaves with her parents.
- >Once the filly and her family are out of sight, she closes the door.
- >She looks to you with her azure eyes.
- >"Oh Anon, isn't it such a joy to watch over little fillies and colts?"
- "I couldn't say it better myself, Ms. Heart."
- >She smiles warmly at your response.
- >"Now, who do we have left?"
- >You survey the room.
- >In the corner, you see a small purple filly reading a book.
- >You look at the list of kids that were dropped off today, looking for the name of the foal that hadn't been checked off as "picked up" on the list.
- >You come to the name Twilight Sparkle.
- >You are Twilight Sparkle.
- >You were dropped off at the local day care this morning by your parents.
- >All throughout the day, you had immersed yourself in the few books that the daycare offered.
- >Most of them were clearly too easy for you, but you read them anyways.
- >Books are still books, after all.
- >Besides, you didn't feel like playing with the other fillies anyways.
- >Before you knew it, the sun was slowly making its way downwards.
- >You knew your parents would be here soon.
- >What you didn't expect, though, was to be the last filly left in the day care.
- >Not that you didn't mind, a quiet environment was better for reading.
- >You were half-way through the last book when you heard hooffalls coming towards you.
- >No, not hooffalls.
- >Foot steps.
- >"You Twilight Sparkle?"
- >You looked up from your book to lock eyes with an unfamiliar face.
- >The volunteer who came in to help Ms. Kind Heart today was knelt right next to you, smiling.
- >Your mom, dad, and Shiny had told you not to talk to strangers.
- >You knew Ms. Kind Heart, but not this volunteer.
- "U-uh...yes..."
- >You quickly went back to reading your book, hoping the volunteer would go away.
- >He didn't.
- >"So...whatcha reading?"
- >You quickly showed him the cover of your book before returning to reading.
- >But he still didn't go away.
- >Instead he peered at the cover of your book, apparently having not read it when you waved it in front of his face.
- >"The Adventures of Filly Filet," he read aloud. "Do you like the book?"
- "Yes."
- >Your answer was quick and simple.
- >Maybe he'd find out you didn't want to talk if you kept answering him like this.
- >You are Anonymous again.
- >You can't seem to get this filly to talk to you.
- >What was her deal anyways?
- >You racked your brain to try and find something to talk about.
- "Uh...are you always the last filly here?"
- >She looked up at you.
- >"No."
- >She put her face right back into her book.
- >Luckily for you, Kind Heart came to help you out.
- >"Oh Twilight, it's okay! You can come out of your shell. This is just Mr. Anonymous. He's nice!
- >The lavender filly looked up at the daycare owner.
- >"O-oh. Um..."
- >The filly looked at you.
- >"Nice to meet you, Mr. Anonymous."
- >She then went right back to her book.
- >Was this filly just shy?
- >Kind Heart shuffled up behind you.
- >"Don't worry Anon, I've got a secret weapon that'll make her open up. Follow me."
- >You are now Kind Heart.
- >You had just asked Anonymous to follow you to a secret weapon.
- >One that you knew got any filly or colt to warm up to a stranger immediately.
- >You led the human into the kitchen.
- >Several pots and pans lined the sink, still dirty from the lunch you cooked today.
- >"Alright, so what's this secret weapon?" Anon asked you.
- "You'll see. Trust me, it'll work."
- >You rummaged through a couple cupboards, searching for what would help Anon.
- "Not here...not here...A-HA!"
- >You had found your tea-making kit, and the bag of sugar cubes next to it.
- >It was the sugar cubes that you needed.
- >Grabbing the bag of artificial sweeteners, you pull them out of the cupboard and set them on a nearby counter.
- "Alright Anon. Take one."
- >The human did so, and observed the cube in his hand.
- >It was no secret to you that if a foal was shy, a tasty sweet got them to trust you real fast.
- >You are Twilight Sparkle again.
- >Mr. Anonymous and Ms. Kind Heart had left the room, and now you were by yourself.
- >That was okay though. It just meant more quiet to read your book.
- >You giggled at Filly Filet's antics.
- >She had just tricked the bad mare into slipping on a banana peel.
- >When would the baddies learn?
- >"Hey, Twilight."
- >It was Mr. Anonymous talking to you from across the room.
- >When did he get back in here?
- "Yes, Mr. Anonymous?"
- >You wondered what he'd want this time as you waited for a response.
- >Would he just ask what you were reading again? He read the title twi-
- >"Do you want a sugar cube?"
- >You gasped and put down the book.
- "A sugar cube? For me?"
- >You looked towards Mr. Anonymous, who had a sugar cube in his palm.
- >You are Anonymous again.
- "Do you want a sugar cube?"
- >The filly immediately put down her book.
- >"A sugar cube? For me?"
- >She looked in your direction, and noticed the confection in your hand.
- >Her eyes grew wide and adorable.
- >She trotted over to you to inspect the sweet up-close.
- >She sniffed it, for reasons your not sure.
- >When she she decided the cube was okay, she bit into it, her lips tickling your palm as she ate.
- >While she enjoyed her treat, you decided to stroke her mane, feeling its soft texture run in between your fingers.
- >She didn't even flinch to your touch, instead continuing to eat the sugar.
- >She had now gotten to the last bite, and she lightly nipped your hand getting her fill.
- >It didn't really hurt though. Her small filly teeth couldn't do much anyways.
- >Once the cube was gone, she decided to lick your hand to get any remaining sugar.
- >Her tongue tickled your palm as it slid across to get the last sweet crystals left.
- >"Mmm, that was good!"
- >She looked up at you and smiled.
- >Thank you, Mr. Anonymous!
- >You smiled back at her.
- "You're welcome, Twilight."
- >You spent the rest of the time Twilight was there talking with her about the books in the day care.
- >About ten minutes later, Twilight's parents showed up with Shining Armor in tow.
- >They were here to pick her up after getting her brother from school.
- >She had run up to them and given them a collective hug.
- >"Mom, Dad, Shiny!" she had called.
- >"And how was your day dear?" Her mother asked.
- >"It was great! I read some funny books that I loved!"
- >"You didn't play with any of the other fillies or colts?" Her father asked.
- >"No, but I did make a new friend today!"
- >Her father smiled.
- >"Oh, and who would that be?"
- >The purple filly pointed to you with her hoof.
- >"Mr. Anonymous, of course!"
- >Her family greeted you warmly.
- >After a small conversation, Twilight and her family left the daycare.
- >"Bye Anon, I'll see you tomorrow!" Twilight called as she walked home with her family.
- "I'll see ya too, Twilight!" you called out.
- >Once Twilight and her family were out of sight, you shut the door.
- >You turned around to meet Kind Heart, who was watching the whole time.
- >"See? Sometimes, you just gotta give 'em a little nudge."
- >She trotted into the kitchen to begin cleaning up.
- >You decided to start picking up strewn about toys in the room.
- >It was a good day.
