  1. >The crowd is stunned.
  2. >Fuck.
  3. >You stood in silence once again.
  4. >Their reaction here was critical.
  5. >The silence deafens you.
  6. >Not a soul knows what to say to your introduction.
  7. >You decide it would be best to leave the crowd on that note.
  8. >They weren't terrified into a panic, but you sensed they would need time to process your arrival.
  9. >So you leave town without another word.
  10. >You trudge past the crowd, who looks to each other wordlessly.
  11. >You didn't want to interfere with their lives: you had merely done your duty.
  12. >The crowd has dispersed by the time you step beyond the town's limits.
  13. >Applejack catches up to your lumbering form as you head back to the farm.
  14.
  15.
  16. >"Anon, w-what'cha did..."
  17. >You trudge in silence.
  18. >"T'was amazin', Anon, y'all should be proud."
  19. "Pride seeds overconfidence. I did my duty."
  20. >"Y'all didn't have to help, though. Y'remember sayin' to be all secret and stuff, ya didn' need anyp0ny knowin' you was here."
  21. "Circumstances change."
  22. >"What changed?"
  23. "If I am to be a permanent resident, I cannot hide forever."
  24. >You didn't mention that hiding was also very cowardly.
  25. >Applejack trots next to you with a smile on her face.
  26. >"So y'all are thinkin' about stayin' in Ponyville?"
  27. "I have nowhere else to go."
  28. >"An' WANTIN' to stay in Ponyville?"
  29. "It will be acceptable."
  30. >"That ain't no answer, Anon."
  31. "I arrived only a few days ago, my opinion on this place is not yet solidified."
  32. >"We'll win ya over," she boasts.
  33. >You stomp forward in silence.
  34. >You realized this place wasn't as bad as you originally suspected, but you were wary.
  35. >It was too serene.
  36. >They had also imprisoned you.
  37.
  38.
  39. >The rest of the journey is uneventful, and you arrive back at the farm in time to finish an afternoon's work.
  40. >"Wait jus' a second there Anon, you gonna work after all that this mornin?"
  41. "I am fit for duty, is there a problem?"
  42. >"Well... yeah... a darn house fell on ya!"
  43. "I am undamaged, and I will be functional for our tasks."
  44. >You could admit to a bit of fatigue, but you would perform just fine.
  45. >"Can't let ya do that, Anon."
  46. >Applejack stops you as you pass by the barn.
  47. >"Y'all are gonna take a rest today. Ah'll let'cha know when to come git some food."
  48. >She wouldn't take no for an answer, so you lumber through the barn doors.
  49. >You set your suit down in a corner.
  50. >It did feel good to sit down.
  51. >You still didn't feel safe taking your suit off, however. There were still too many unknowns.
  52. >You find yourself thinking about the crowd this morning.
  53. >Their stunned faces.
  54. >You hoped, somewhere, that they would not be afraid.
  55. >*"They will come around, Anonymous."
  56. "We shall see."
  57. >You shut your eyes.
  58. >Maybe Applejack was right.
  59. >Maybe you should give Ponyville more thought for a permanent residence.
  60.
  61.
  62. >SLAM!
  63. >ACCESS LANDING SUCCESSFUL: DEPLOYING PAYLOAD
  64. >Your suit is disgorged from your pod onto the ship's deck.
  65. >A pair of marines level rifles at your suit.
  66. >The bullets ping and ricochet off of the thick combat armor.
  67. "Link with units on this level."
  68. >Green phantoms appear on your HUD, showing where your brothers had entered the ship.
  69. >These two were cut off by another suit that had entered the corridor behind them.
  70. >They finally realized their situation, going back-to-back.
  71. >You lumbered forward, your boots clanking on the deck.
  72. >The two men muttered to each other, you couldn't make it out over the sounds of screaming.
  73. >KA-THUUUUUUUUM
  74. >A hull breach on another level, thirty-one crew dead.
  75. >Your arm-blades slide forward.
  76. >You're scant meters from the pair of marines.
  77. >Your cloned brother stands back.
  78. >"I just want to go home..."
  79. >"Make it quick, clone."
  80. >You stomp forward and crush the first marine's legs under your boot.
  81. >The next one spins around, but you catch him in your gauntlet.
  82. >His partner in on the deck, screaming as the bones pierces his flesh.
  83. >Your flamer roasts your captive's extremities, and you toss his flash-burned but still alive body next to the other.
  84. >The extremities freeze and snap.
  85. >They're both screaming in agony.
  86. >You loosen a camera from your belt, and slam in onto the opposite wall.
  87. >The feed from the camera is directed to the ship's bridge.
  88. >Fear was your final and most potent weapon. Cameras all over the ship were hacking into the screens on the bridge and personnel quarters.
  89. >Every screen would hold images of fellow ship-mates dying in agony.
  90. >TERROR LEVEL: 67.
  91. >Good enough.
  92.
  93.
  94. >The bridge is your next target.
  95. >Of course, the blast doors are closed.
  96. >A small group of your clone brothers stand behind you and you slam and tear at the door.
  97. >A specialist behind you had cutters, but this sort of door could be broken down.
  98. >Your suit produced a feed from inside.
  99. >The bridge crew were cowered against the far wall, trying to be as far away as possible.
  100. >SLAM.
  101. >They cried and begged: every monitor was filled with images of horror and pain.
  102. >SLAM.
  103. >They knew what was coming.
  104. >SLAM.
  105. >They knew they would be next.
  106. >SLAM.
  107. >You buckled the door, it began to give.
  108. >Your gauntlet reached into the parting of the door and pulled.
  109. >The metal tore and screeched.
  110. >You heard pleading from inside.
  111. >"Please..."
  112. >"J-Just..."
  113. >"Anon..."
  114. >What?
  115. >"Wake up..."
  116.
  117.
  118. >Your eyes open quickly.
  119. >Staring directly at you is a pair of meadowy eyes.
  120. >You strain to avoid jumping back or crushing the intruder.
  121. >Clink clink.
  122. >Taps on your helmet.
  123. >"Uh-um, Mister Anon, sir?"
  124. "I am awake."
  125. >The yellow p0ny jumps back in surprise and hides behind her pink mane.
  126. >You sit in silence.
  127. >She would not have woken you without purpose.
  128. >"I-I'm sorry, I should have just waited..." she trails off. "I just wanted to know...” she mumbles. Your suit can't make it out.
  129. >You blink your optics at her.
  130. "What is it?"
  131. >Your inhuman voice causes the young mare to recoil.
  132. >Intimidation leaks from her frame.
  133. >You resist the urge to rise, and instead wait patiently.
  134. >"Uh-um..." she seemed to be on the verge of tears.
  135. >A pink dot flashes in encouragement.
  136. >You hesitate for a moment.
  137. "What... what is your name?"
  138. >You felt out of place.
  139. >"I'm... I'm Flutt..." she trails off again, stooping low to the ground.
  140. >You shift your weight, trying to emulate tilting your head to the side.
  141. >"...Fluttershy......"
  142. "Fluttershy," you hold out one mighty gauntlet. "...a pleasure to meet you."
  143. >She is very intimidated.
  144. >Pearl guesses that this p0ny's namesake may suggest a timid personality.
  145. >You felt disarmed.
  146.
  147.
  148. >After a few moments, you lower your gauntlet.
  149. >This new p0ny, Fluttershy, takes a step forward.
  150. >"I-I've never seen a creature like you before..."
  151. "I could say the same for you p0nies."
  152. >"Oh..."
  153. "Was there something you wanted?"
  154. >You had been sleeping after all.
  155. >"I-I just wanted to see you... everyp0ny saw you this morning but I didn't..."
  156. >You sit patiently.
  157. >"I just... wanted to meet you..."
  158. >You stand up - as slowly as you can manage - to avoid frightening your guest.
  159. "It is a pleasure to meet you, Fluttershy."
  160. >You tower over the hapless p0ny.
  161. >She edges closer and inspects you.
  162. >Clink clink.
  163. >"I-I didn't know that animals could have metal for skin..."
  164. "My suit is made of metal, while underneath I am flesh and blood."
  165. >You recount the same explanation of humans that you told Spike.
  166. >"Oh... so you aren't a big, scary, metal-skinned, sword-holding, boot-stomping, five-times-as-big-as-anyp0ny, awful meanie...?"
  167. >You pause for a moment.
  168. >You had never heard of a TX-7 Terror Suit being described so eloquently.
  169. "That is an accurate description of my suit."
  170. >"W-W-Wha--"
  171. "I myself am its resident, however, and, sadly, much less intimidating."
  172. >"Oh... well... m-maybe you can show me what you look like?"
  173. >Your lip complains as you bite down on it.
  174. "Not today."
  175. >"Oh... okay..." she looks a bit disappointed, and begins to slowly walk off. "Um... I need to get back... m-maybe I'll see you again?"
  176. >You nod your suit.
  177. >Fluttershy disappears through the door.
  178. >You felt like you handled that rather well.
  179.
  180.
  181. >"Ysee!? I TOL' you he was here!" a tinny voice exclaims from behind.
  182. >"He's bigger than you said!" another squeaks.
  183. >"THIS is what you brought us here to see?"
  184. >THUMPH, THUMPH.
  185. >You turn to see three tiny p0nies staring, wide-eyed at you.
  186. >...Oh no.
