"Truth or Deer" Prolouge Scene Draft

Setting: Somewhat deep in the Everfree Forest; camera glides along a slightly beaten path; music ominous due to it being Everfree.

 

[Group of young squirrels run in, following the path. They stop at a fork in the path, looking around and chattering amongst themselves. Behind them, Fluttershy’s yellow arm pops up from behind a bush and points to the direction they should be going, which they follow. Fluttershy’s hand pops back down.]

 

[Camera focuses on Fluttershy in the bush]

 

Fluttershy: Ohh, why did I agree to this? It’s much too dangerous.

 

[Fluttershy peaks her head out to see where the squirrels have gone and eyes the next bush. She dashes quickly into it. (Don’t know whether her looking out should be shown or not.)]

 

Fluttershy: It’s a cute group of squirrels that lost their parents, after all, but why the Everfree Forest? It’s much too dangerous for any squirrel family to live in.

 

[Fluttershy looks out again. While looking out at the squirrels running about, she sees a silhouette of tall, four-legged beast (a deer) and hears it snort. She ducks back in.]

 

Fluttershy: (panicked) Wh-what was that? Couldn’t have been a manticore or a timberwolf. (takes a deep breath and calms down) Well, if the squirrels know their way home, I’m perfectly safe staying in here. (closes her eyes and smiles)

 

[A squirrel screams (neither frightened of excited; just a scream). Fluttershy opens her eyes wide open and frowns. She then dashes out at full speed to the scream’s location.]

 

Fluttershy: Hold on, little ones! I’m coming!

 

[She halts when she sees the squirrels hugging their parents in an open spot of the forest and then run off.]

 

Fluttershy: Whew! Glad that all of you are safe.

 

[Another snort, this time much closer, is heard. Fluttershy looks up and sees a large Male Deer looking down at her. Maybe a lightning bolt or something. Fluttershy screams at the top of her lungs and darts into another bush]

 

Fluttershy: Wait a minute. (comes out; Male Deer is more majestic than threatening now) You’re a deer, aren’t you? (flies around him, inspecting him) I thought they only existed in Twilight’s fairy tale books I used to borrow for the little ones. This is so great. First a baby dragon and now a deer? I never thought I’d see so many mythical creatures in my life! (Might want to trim this down a bit)

 

[Male Deer gives Fluttershy a raised eyebrow. Fluttershy looks around and sees that the open area is a small deer settlement. A Female Deer comes to Male Deer’s side.]

 

Fluttershy: Oh wow. I didn’t think I was intruding on an entire deer community. I guess I should go then. (turns around but is stopped by Antler’s voice)

 

Antler: (unseen) It’s no bother. Glad that you stopped by!

 

[Fluttershy turns around. Antler comes out (like “what up I got a big cock”) behind Female Deer at full frontal view. Fluttershy flies towards the innocent-looking Antler]

 

Fluttershy: Oh. And who are you?

 

Antler: I’m Cervino, but most people here call me Antler.

 

Fluttershy: Ooh, hello Antler. What are you doing out here so deep in the Everfree Forest?

 

Antler: Why, I live here! I’m a deer, after all.

 

Fluttershy: (gives a puzzled look and stares at his “antlers”) Um… right? You want me to take you back to my place so we can find your parents?

 

Antler: (puzzles himself) Wha? My parents are right here. (looks at Male Deer and Female Deer, who are sternly looking at Fluttershy)

 

Fluttershy: …right. Well, I better head off. It’s near dinner time for my animals. It was nice meeting all of you. I hope I see all of you soon. (turns around and walks off)

 

Antler: (happy again) Goodbye now! Have a nice day! (waves)

 

[Fluttershy is walking on the path, camera over her shoulder to show the family behind her.]

 

Fluttershy: A pony who thinks he’s a deer? That’s quite odd. I better go tell the girls.

 

[A small squirrel, probably behind the pack, runs up to Fluttershy, worried. Fluttershy looks at it and points to where the other squirrels went. The small squirrel nods and runs off. Fade to black.]

 

[“My Little Ponyyyy, My Little Ponyyyy, AaaaAaaaAaaaAaaaaaaaaaa…”]
