  1. Roseluck Chronicles Chapter 1:That Faithful Day
  2. Part 1: A Magical Night
  3.
  4. >Another long day.
  5. >It's just a job, you think to yourself
  6. >The only reason you have the blasted job is so you can make it though college and start up your own business.
  7. >Exhausted, you slowly walk out of the office building where you work.
  8. >You have been working as a desk jockey here since you started college
  9. >The work is remedial and repetitive
  10. >But it’s a job you can do for some money until you graduate
  11. >You start to make you way back to your apartment
  12. >A usually short and uninteresting chore.
  13. >You're preoccupied with thoughts about the future
  14. >As you pass by an alleyway something happens
  15. >Something magical
  16. >A bright flash and a loud crack emanate from the alleyway
  17. >The suddenness of this knocks you out of your thoughts
  18. >As you stare down the now dark alleyway you swear you can hear something struggling
  19. "Hello?"
  20. >Ok you know you heard someone say that.
  21. "Hello, is somep0ny out there?"
  22. >Did they say somep0ny?
  23. >You must have heard it wrong
  24. >None the less, sounds like someone needs some help
  25. >You start to walk down the alley
  26. >"Hello?" you say into the darkness
  27. >"Do you need some help?"
  28. >You hear some clanging coming from a nearby dumpster
  29. "Oh good, somep0nys there, I seem to be stuck inside of this metal box."
  30. "If you could give me a helping hoof, I would appreciate it."
  31. >Now you know that someone had said somep0ny, but did they also say hoof?
  32. >You slowly approach the dumpster
  33. >You grab onto the lid and lift it open and peer into the darkness
  34. >In the low light you can make out the vague shape of what appears to be a four legged creature
  35. "H-Hello..."
  36. >The voice now sounds shaky
  37. >You slowly extend you hand down into the dumpster
  38. >You feel something move into it.
  39. >Its soft and fur covered.
  40. >You start to pull the creature out of the dumpster
  41. >As you pull it out into the light you get a better look
  42. >You nearly let go when you see her
  43. >She looks like a horse
  44. >But that’s impossible, horses don't talk
  45. "W-what are you..."
  46. >you lose your grip leaving her hanging half out the dumpster
  47. >"You can talk!
  48. >She seems to be able to get herself the rest of the way out of the dumpster and jumps down to the ground
  49. >You can now make out her full appearance
  50. >She appears to stand at around the height of your waist when on all four
  51. >Her coat is a pale yellow, her mane is two shades of pink, and you can barely make out the shape of a flower on her flank.
  52. >"That’s impossible! Horses can't talk!"
  53. >She appears to be taken aback by this
  54. "I'm not a horse, I'm a pony. And you haven't answered my question."
  55. >In all the shock, you nearly forgot the question she asked you.
  56. >What are you...
  57. >"I'm human..."
  58. "What's a human?"
  59. >You can't think straight, you still can't get over the impossibility of the situation.
  60. >You are standing in an alleyway, in the middle of the night, talking to a pony that you pulled out of a dumpster
  61. >There was only one logical explanation for it all
  62. >You job has finally cost you your sanity
  63. >Why not play along...
  64. >"Humans, I guess we can be described as intelligent, talking apes."
  65. >Yeah that sounds good
  66. "Ok, where am I at? This doesn't look like Ponyville. Is this even Equestria?"
  67. >Equestria, right...
  68. >"You’re in Chicago. It is a city in America. On a planet called Earth."
  69. >Your starting to have some fun with this, and why not, if you're going to go insane might as well have some fun along the way.
  70. >She looks around nervously
  71. >"What’s your name, and what’s with the tattoo on you flank"
  72. >She tilts her head to the side when you mention the word tattoo
  73. "My name is Roseluck, and what do you mean tattoo?"
  74. >"The rose, right there." You point to the rose
  75. "Oh that's my cutie mark. It means my special talent is growing and selling roses. I just love flowers."
  76. >Cutie marks, special talents, roseluck...
  77. >Yep you're definitely headed to the loony bin.
  78. >You look at your watch, it’s getting late.
  79. >You don't want to leave her out her, even if she was a figment of your insane mind.
  80. >"It's starting to get late; you shouldn't stay out here at night like this."
  81. >"Come with me back to my apartment. We can figure everything out in the morning."
  82. >She slowly nods and follows you out of the alley
  83. >The rest of the walk back to your apartment was silent.
  84. >You climb the stair case leading to your apartment
  85. >Behind you the sound of hooves reminds you of your delusion
  86. >You open the door and let yourself and Roseluck into your studio apartment
  87. >Your apartment is spacious and kind of bare.
  88. >You have set up some temporary walls to make the place feel like it has separate rooms
  89. >You have your semi-combined kitchen/living room, some office space, and your bedroom.
  90. >You lead Roseluck over to your couch in the living room.
  91. >"you can sleep here tonight, I'll get you some blankets and a pillow"
  92. >"The kitchen is over there, if you’re hungry I think I have a salad in the refrigerator."
  93. >You walk over to your bedroom and grab a few blankets and an extra pillow.
  94. >When you return you find roseluck already half-asleep
  95. >You place the pillow under her head and cover her with the blankets
  96. >As you do so you catch her scent in the air
  97. >She smells of roses
  98. >You quickly undress and crawl into bed
  99. >Your final thoughts as you drift off to sleep are of your delusions and the smell of roses.
  100. End of Part 1
  101.
  102. Part 2:The Next Morning
  103. >You awake from a restful sleep
  104. >As you slowly stretch one thought goes through your mind
  105. >Roseluck
  106. >It must have been a dream
  107. >There is no such thing as talking ponies from a land called Equestria
  108. >You were really tired
  109. >You must have walked all the way home, collapsed into your bed, and dreamt the whole thing
  110. >It is the only explanation
  111. >It's a good idea for a TV. show though
  112. >Maybe you can write a story about it and sell it and make millions
  113. >Yeah...Right...
  114. >You roll out of bed and quickly throw on some shorts
  115. >Time to enjoy a nice Saturday morning
  116. >You walk into your kitchen not even taking a glance at the couch
  117. >You pour yourself a cup of coffee that the machine has already made for you
  118. >You turn around and lean against the counter and look out into the living area
  119. >That’s when you see it
  120. >The blanket
  121. >The pillow
  122. >The Pony
  123. >You really have lost it
  124. >You feel yourself go numb as the coffee cup slips from you hand
  125. >It falls and crashes into the floor, shattering upon impact
  126. >The sound of breaking glass wakes up the sleeping Mare
  127. >She's up with a start and looking around at her surroundings
  128. >Her eyes finally settle on you
  129. >She looks just as shocked as you feel
  130. "So it is real then?"
  131. >You slowly feel yourself nod
  132. "I'm not in Equestria, I'm on Earth."
  133. >Again you nod
  134. "And you're a human."
  135. >You nod again
  136. >"And you're a talking pony"
  137. >Your voice sounds foreign and distant
  138. >Pull yourself together Anon
  139. >You have a talking pony inside your apartment
  140. "You never told me you name last night?"
  141. >"Wha..." You barely comprehend the question
  142. >For some reason she speaks slower
  143. "Your name..."
  144. >Work brain, work! What is our name?!
  145. >You finally manage to utter your name.
  146. >"Anon"
  147. >She nods and continues to stare at you
  148. "Well, what now?"
  149. >Now, I call a doctor to get my head examined...
  150. >A talking pony, in my apartment
  151. >For some reason your brain can't get passed with thought
  152. >"Are there more of your kind?"
  153. >Stupid question anon
  154. "Well yes, equestria is filled with all different kind of ponies"
  155. >"Different kinds of ponies" you repeat slowly
  156. "Well yes, I'm an earth pony; there are also Unicorns, Pegasi, and Alicorns"
  157. >You nod slowly, trying to take in all the information
  158. >You walk over and sit down the couch next to her
  159. >The smell of roses fills you nostrils again
  160. >For some reason the smell is calming
  161. >To take a deep breath, lean back, and carefully listen
  162. "Unicorns have horns, which they are able to cast magic from."
  163. "Pegasi have wings, and are able to control the weather."
  164. "Alicorns have both, most are considered royalty."
  165. >You start to slowly digest the situation
  166. >"And all of you have these cutie marks, which denote your special ability..."
  167. "You’re starting to catch on!"
  168. >Right, I'm starting to catch on.
  169. >Never mind that this is insane and impossible
  170. >"How did you get here?"
  171. >She hangs her head and shakes it
  172. "I don't know, one minute I'm taking care of my flower garden, the next I'm stuck inside of that metal box."
  173. >All of the events from last night are in clear focus in your mind
  174. >It finally dawns upon you that this might all be happening
  175. >Your mind still needs one last thing to be sure
  176. >Your hand slowly reaches out to touch her
  177. >At first she recoils from your outstretched hand
  178. >But then she moves closely towards it.
  179. >Her mane feels like silk between your fingers.
  180. >Slowly you start to pet her mane
  181. >with each pass, she presses herself against your hand
  182. >You slowly move your hand down to her back
  183. >She is soft
  184. >So very soft
  185. >She arches her back against your touch.
  186. >You feel something begin to build inside of you
  187. >What is this feeling?
  188. >Whoa! No, you can't have that feeling.
  189. >She's...she's a pony
  190. >A talking pony
  191. >But still an animal
  192. >You remove you hand from her
  193. >She looks at you in a mixture of surprise and disappointment
  194. "Is something wrong?"
  195. >No, nothing’s wrong...
  196. >I just had strong feelings for a talking pony that magically appeared in a dumpster last night
  197. >Yes, there is something terribly wrong
  198. >But, all you can utter is "No, not at all."
  199. >A sudden thought crosses your mind
  200. >"Do you think that you're the only one that came to this world?"
  201. >She looks at you in puzzled
  202. >She brings her to front hooves up and shrugs
  203. >"Well if there are more of you here, the news will have caught wind of something."
  204. >You reach over and grab the remote and flip on the T.V.
  205. >You surf the channels to the nearest news station
  206. >It looks like your suspicions were right.
  207. >Ponies
  208. >Ponies Everywhere
  209. >As the news reports it, last night at the same time around the globe, ponies appeared
  210. >They all came in a pallet of different colors.
  211. >Earth ponies, unicorns, pegasi, a few alicorns.
  212. >All each having a unique cutie mark
  213. >"Well, looks like I'm not going crazy after all."
  214. >Roseluck looks at you with a tilted head
  215. "You thought you were going crazy?"
  216. >"Well yes, how insane is it that there are talking ponies
  217. "How insane is it that there are talking monkeys..."
  218. >Touché...
  219. >"Are you hungry?"
  220. >Almost as if on cue her stomach growls
  221. >She makes the funniest and maybe cutest face you have ever seen...
  222. >No, not those feelings again...
  223. >"Let me get you that salad. It looks like we have a lot to discuss."
  224. End of Part 2
  225.
  226. Part 3: One Step Forward, Two Steps Back
  227. >You get up off the sofa and make your way to the kitchen
  228. >As you walk into the kitchen you nearly step on a piece of your broken coffee cup
  229. >Ok, step 1 clean up mess from coffee
  230. >You slowly bend down and start picking up the larger pieces of the cup
  231. >Your thoughts drift off
  232. >There is a talking pony sitting on your couch
  233. >She smells of roses
  234. >Her and a bunch of ponies from the land of Equestria have magically appeared in your world
  235. >No matter how real it feels
  236. >No matter how you try and logic it out
  237. >It still doesn't feel right
  238. >Maybe it isn't, maybe your still dreaming
  239. >That’s it, this is still a dream
  240. >A really complex and vivid dream
  241. >But a dream none the less
  242. >You finish picking up the pieces of glass and you throw them away
  243. >You grab a few paper towels and start to mop up the spilt coffee
  244. >Your mind continues
  245. >What about "that"
  246. >You stop mopping up
  247. >You take a look over at the mare sitting on your couch
  248. >She is engrossed in the news about her people on earth
  249. >You go back to your cleaning
  250. >It was nothing
  251. >Are you sure about that...
  252. >You slowly start to push "those" thoughts to the back of your mind
  253. >Yes, I'm sure any kind of feelings I have can be explained by this being a dream
  254. >She is nothing but an animal, an intelligent talking animal
  255. >My feelings need to reflect as much.
  256. >Plus at any moment, I'll wake up and this dream will fade away into distant memory
  257. >I might as well enjoy this dream while I have the chance.
  258. >You finish cleaning up the coffee
  259. >You walk over to the refrigerator and pull out the salad
  260. >Do ponies even like salad?
  261. >You look up from the salad to ask and notice that roseluck is already staring at you.
  262. >She looks worried
  263. >"Is something wrong?"
  264. "It looks like chaos out there"
  265. >You nod in agreement
  266. >"Talking ponies appear overnight, people aren't going to handle it well."
  267. "What about you? You seem to be handling it just fine."
  268. >You nod to yourself
  269. >Yes what about me
  270. >Whatever you do don't tell her you think it's a dream
  271. >It might end it early
  272. >"I don't know, maybe it’s because I watch a lot of sci-fi movies..."
  273. >"Not to say that I'm not freaked out about this, it’s just maybe I can handle it..."
  274. >"I mean there's a talking pony in my apartment..."
  275. >"And talking ponies just randomly appeared all over the world..."
  276. >The more you talk the more light headed you get
  277. >"And now it’s all over the news...
  278. >"And I think the realization of the whole situation just hit me..."
  279. >Houston we have a problem...
  280. >"You’re a talking pony, from another world..."
  281. >"The whole idea of it is impossible...
  282. >"Insane..."
  283. "Didn't we just go over that?"
  284. >"I think... I wasn't... This isn't..."
  285. "I don't understand it either..."
  286. >"I’m just having a hard time now...
  287. >"Talking about it doesn't seem to be helping any..."
  288. "The talking box says that everyp0ny is gathering at some park downtown."
  289. >Park, downtown right...
  290. >"Which park did they say?"
  291. "Millennium Park."
  292. >Ok relatively close by.
  293. "I would like to see if any of my friends are down there, maybe Mayor Mare or even Princess Celestia."
  294. >Mayor Mare? Princess Celestia? Who?
  295. >"I'll walk you down there... I could use some fresh air..."
  296. >"You might want to eat first before we go."
  297. >You can hear her stomach growl across the room
  298. "Good Idea."
  299. End of Part 3
  300.
  301. Part 4: The Millenium Park Speech
  302. >You and roseluck start eating some breakfast
  303. >Your slightly surprised when Roseluck asks to have some of the eggs you made
  304. >"I thought ponies would be vegetarians"
  305. "Well, we are, but we also eat animal by-products as well"
  306. >You and Roseluck quickly eat and start to make your way down to Millennium Park
  307. >As you exit the apartment you notice you are not the only whole with a pony
  308. >Some ponies are indeed by themselves or with other ponies,
  309. >But several are accompanied by humans.
  310. >Looks like you weren't the only one to make a friend
  311. >You probably aren't the only one who thinks that they are going insane either.
  312. >You begin to take in the sights of a world now with ponies
  313. >Honestly not much has changed
  314. >Except for the inclusion of ponies
  315. >As you walk you notice a group of ponies being led my another pony with a map
  316. >A map that is floating in front of the lead pony.
  317. >Roselucks words about Unicorns comeback to you
  318. >Not only are you in a world of ponies now
  319. >You are in a world of magic.
  320. >You head still swims trying to comprehend the implications of ponies and magic
  321. >Something catches your eye above you
  322. >You see several brightly covered streaks zoom through the air
  323. >Those aren't birds
  324. >Those must be pegasi
  325. >One seems faster than the rest
  326. >It also stands out the most from the rest too
  327. >Its streak is colored like a rainbow
  328. >Ponies everywhere, magic wielding unicorns, flying pegasi
  329. >You stumble a bit from all the thoughts that cloud your head
  330. >You look down at your pony companion
  331. >She doesn't appear to be faring any better
  332. >"It’s a lot to take in, isn't it?"
  333. >She sounds almost breathless
  334. "It’s so big..."
  335. >You chuckle slightly
  336. >"The fresh air doesn't seem to be helping..."
  337. >She coughs slightly
  338. "This is fresh air? It feels like I can hardly breathe"
  339. >Pollution and smog, they probably don't have it...
  340. >"Do you use fossil fuels in equestria."
  341. "What are those?"
  342. >That confirms it
  343. >"Humans haven't been the nicest to our planet..."
  344. "What do you mean?"
  345. >"It’s a long story, I'll explain later..."
  346. >If there’s a later...
  347. >As you approach Millennium Park the number of ponies and humans begins to swell
  348. >You also the notice an increase in one other department
  349. >Police officers
  350. >Most of them appear to be outfitted in normal patrol gear
  351. >But as you get closer and closer to Millennium Park you begin to notice slight increase in armaments
  352. >What are they expecting?
  353. >You don't think that the ponies would hurt anyone
  354. >No, it’s not for fear of the ponies
  355. >Humans were the x-factor here
  356. >They are here to protect the ponies from us
  357. >It appears that all of the ponies are gathering around the amphitheater
  358. >As you approach you can hear several voices calling out different names in the crowd
  359. "Has anyp0ny seen Lyra anywhere?"
  360. "Applebloom! Applebloom! Where are you sis?!"
  361. "Oh Celestia, why is this happening"
  362. "Roseluck, Lily?!"
  363. >There to your right.
  364. >"Roseluck over here, I heard your name."
  365. >Roseluck follows you through the crowd
  366. >You eventually find a pink pony, with green hair.
  367. >She has two daisies as a cutie mark
  368. "Daisy!"
  369. >Roseluck runs over and puts her front legs around Daisy's neck
  370. "I’m so glad I found you!"
  371. >You notice that daisy doesn't appear to be alone; a man is with her also
  372. >"I'm glad you found one of your friends Roseluck."
  373. "Oh, Daisy this is Anon, he saved me from a metal box last night."
  374. >You smile at daisy and she smiles back
  375. >The two ponies begin to converse with each other about their other missing friend.
  376. >The man who is with daisy looks around nervously
  377. >"Something wrong buddy?"
  378. "I-I don't like crowds much. Plus doesn't this strike you as kind of weird"
  379. >"Well, yes, ponies appear everywhere across the earth overnight does strike me as kind of weird."
  380. >He laughs nervously
  381. >You turn and look at the stage.
  382. >Up on the stage you can make out two figures.
  383. >One is the Mayor of the city
  384. >The other is a pony who is tan colored with a white mane
  385. >The Mayor of Chicago approaches the podium
  386. "Good Morning citizens of Chicago. As you may or may not have noticed we have a few visitors with us today."
  387. >You hear a few nervous chuckles from the crowd, but it’s mostly silent now.
  388. "I have been told that they are from the land that they call Equestria."
  389. "I have also been told that they are quite friendly."
  390. "I am officially offering my hand in friendship to our new visitors"
  391. "Without further ado, I present Mayor Mare, to have a word with her people about the current state of affairs."
  392. >The mayor walks over and extends his hand down to Mayor Mare
  393. >The mayor extends her hoof and they both shake.
  394. >That will probably be the picture on the front page tomorrow.
  395. >Mayor mare walks over and then takes the podium
  396. >She clears her throat and begins
  397. "Good morning Fillies and Gentlecolts, I hope that everp0ny out there is safe and sound."
  398. "As Mayor Emanuel stated, I am here to talk on the current situation."
  399. "We still do not know how we all ended up here."
  400. "We don't know exactly how many of us got transported here, or where all the rest of us are."
  401. "I know some of you are missing friends and family members."
  402. "Every effort is being taken to reunite everyp0ny with their scattered families."
  403. "Most of all, we don't know where and of the Princesses are."
  404. >At this an audible gasp goes through the crowd
  405. >Murmurs spread and begin to get louder
  406. "Please calm down everyp0ny, we are looking for them, if they are here we will find them."
  407. "Finally comes up the question of shelter."
  408. "Mayor Emanuel has assured me that temporary shelters are being set up for us in several places around the city."
  409. "But, if you can find some hosts that are willing to take you in, we highly encourage this."
  410. "Thank you everyp0ny for your patience."
  411. >Mayor Mare steps down and Mayor Emanuel takes the podium again
  412. "Citizens I encourage you to be good hosts and open your homes to our visitors."
  413. "Thank you."
  414. >He steps down from the podium.
  415. >As he does there is a few moments of claps and some hoof stomping
  416. >But that is quickly overtaken by the rising clamor of voices shouting out names again.
  417. >You turn to Roseluck, who is already staring at you
  418. >"Well, it’s your choice Roseluck, what do you want to do."
  419. >She looks down at the ground and back up at you.
  420. "If you wouldn't mind, Anon, I would like to go back to your place."
  421. >You nodded and start making your way through the crowd.

  424. Part 5: The Long Road Ahead
  425. >You and Roseluck make your way out of Millennium Park.
  426. >As the crowd begins to thin out, you turn around to Roseluck.
  427. > “So if we are going to be staying together, we had better go and get some groceries.”
  428. >Roseluck nods silently
  429. >”So what do Equestrians like to eat besides salad and eggs?”
  430. “We eat all kinds of fruits, vegetables and flowers, and as I said before some animal by-products.”
  431. >”You eat flowers?”
  432. “Yes, what do you use flowers for?”
  433. >”We use them as decorations; we also use them to display affection for another.”
  434. >”So does that mean the flowers that you grew were for food.”
  435. “Yes, they were the best flowers around. I won several prizes for my flowers.”
  436. >”Impressive.”
  437. >”Thank you, Anon.”
  438. >You both continue to walk along in silence until you arrive at a small grocery store.
  439. >You, with Roseluck’s guidance pick up groceries suitable for the diet of a pony.
  440. >After leaving the grocery store you and Roseluck make your way back the apartment.
  441. “I really wish I had my bags with me so I could help you carry the groceries Anon.”
  442. >”It’s no trouble at all Roseluck.”
  443. “I appreciate you helping me out Anon.”
  444. >”Well, I just couldn’t leave you in the dumpster could I?”
  445. “It’s not just that, for letting me stay with you until they can figure out what to do.”
  446. >”Like I said, it’s not trouble at all.”
  447. >The rest of the walk home is relatively quiet and uneventful.
  448. >You eventually reach your apartment and begin to put away the food that you have bought.
  449. >There is something that you have forgotten.
  450. >It has been bothering you since you left the park.
  451. >But what was it…
  452. >Oh that’s right…
  453. >You probably should have checked with your landlord before agreeing to let a pony stay in your apartment.
  454. >Wouldn’t want to violate your lease by letting a talking pony from another world stay here.
  455. >That would be bad.
  456. >The more you turn that thought over in your mind the more alien it sounds.
  457. >Talking ponies, Equestria, and magic.
  458. >This is going to take some time to get used to…
  459. >You shake your head clear and turn to Roseluck.
  460. >”I’ll be right back Roseluck, I probably should have checked with my landlord to see if it would be ok if you stayed here.”
  461. “What’s a landlord exactly?”
  462. >”Well, I don’t own the apartment we are in, someone else does. I pay him for letting me stay in it.”
  463. >”He makes the rules about things we can do in his apartment.”
  464. >”So, I really should have seen if talking ponies are against the rules.”
  465. >She chuckles at the last statement.
  466. “If he is as nice as you are, there shouldn’t be a problem.”
  467. >”I don’t see one either, but its better if I do the courteous thing and check first.”
  468. >She nods and continues to put the food away as you exit the apartment.
  469. >Mr. Williams lives on the first floor of the apartment complex.
  470. >He’s a very nice and understanding man.
  471. >He’s even been a little lenient when you’re late with the rent.
  472. >There really shouldn’t be a problem.
  473. >You get down to the first floor and knock on Mr. Williams’ door.
  474. >He quickly answers it.
  475. ”Hello Anon, how are you? Seen the news lately? Crazy stuff going on out there. Anything I can help you with?
  476. >”I’m fine Mr. Williams. The news is actually why I’m here.”
  477. >He chuckles…
  478. “Let me guess, you took one of them in didn’t you and you wanted to check with me about it?”
  479. >You scratch you head as he says this.
  480. >”Well, yes, but how did you know what I was going to ask?”
  481. “You’re not the first one to come knocking today.”
  482. “All I ask is that you keep no more than one, and any damage that they might cause you are liable for.”
  483. >You smile and nod.
  484. >”Thank you Mr. Williams, have a good day.”
  485. “Have a good day Anon.”
  486. >You make your way upstairs to tell Roseluck the good news.
  487. >As you enter the apartment you find Roseluck is once again watching the news.
  488. >She doesn’t notices your entrance into the apartment until you speak.
  489. >”Anything new about your people?”
  490. >She shakes her head.
  491. “They aren’t people their ponies.”
  492. >Right ponies, need to start trying to use the right syntax.
  493. >She turns and looks at you.
  494. “Good news?”
  495. >You smile and nod.
  496. >She smiles and continues to look at you.
  497. “Anon, about what you said earlier…”
  498. >”What do you mean Roseluck?”
  499. >She laughs.
  500. “Stop calling me Roseluck, call me Rose.”
  501. >For some reason this sends you back to a moment in time watching the Titanic.
  502. >You’re barely listening to Rose as you play some of the scenes from the movie in your head.
  503. “Anon, are you listening to me?”
  504. >”Wha-“
  505. >She sighs.
  506. “You said that you would tell me about your planet and how you haven’t taken care of it later.”
  507. >You nod.
  508. >You really don’t want to tell her about the faults of humanity.
  509. >Especially to someone who hasn’t even been in this world for not even a day.
  510. >You realize a little too late that you are wearing your thoughts on your sleeve.
  511. >She is still staring at you.
  512. “Is it really that bad?”
  513. >She can see your hesitation at the question.
  514. >Your willingness to lie to her about the state of the world.
  515. >You finally are able to get out the words.
  516. >”It’s too early…”
  517. >She looks down at the floor from your answer.
  518. >”I’ll tell you someday, but I want you to see the world for yourself before you hear my opinion on it.”
  519. >She nods silently.
  520. >”I would love to hear about Equestria, if you would like to…”
  521. >She shakes her head, when she looks at you can see tears forming in her eyes.
  522. ”It’s too early, I just…”
  523. >That was too much for her.
  524. >She begins to cry.
  525. >Good job Anon…
  526. >You walk over and sit down on the couch next to her.
  527. >As you do she reaches out and hugs you around the neck.
  528. >Her tear streaked face buried into your shoulder.
  529. >The smell of roses once again fills your nostrils.
  530. >Your surprised the by action.
  531. >You can barely make out the words between her sobs.
  532. “Wha-what if we ca-can’t go b-back…”
  533. “Wha-what if we-were st-stuck here…”
  534. >She continues to sob uncontrollably.
  535. >Your brain is slow to react.
  536. >You slowly begin to stroke her mane.
  537. >”Its ok, Rose, they will find a way to get you back home.”
  538. >”And, if they can’t we will just cross that bridge when we come to it.”
  539. >She continues to sob into your shoulder.
  540. >Her whole body trembling underneath your hands.
  541. >It’s an all too human emotion.
  542. >Wait…what…
  543. >No, she’s an animal…
  544. >A talking, sentient, animal, from a magical land called Equestria.
  545. >But an animal, none the less.
  546. >You look up and stare at the news.
  547. >It shows pictures from all around the world of gatherings of ponies.
  548. >Just like the one you were just at.
  549. >You can only comprehend one thought at the moment.
  550. >Between the mare sobbing in your arms and the ponies gathering all around the world.
  551. >Everything just got a lot more complicated.
