- Chapter 6: Final Farewell
- The most serious chapter since Chapter 2
- Timeskip : 5 years
- Luna and Noctis married for 6 years
- Welcome back, after all these years, to the world of Prince Noctis and Princess Luna.
- We join in on them, having fun with their now 5 year old daughter, Stella.
- >No husband for Twilight
- Twilight comes around and visits
- Good times are had
- The Gangs all back together
- Discord even comes around
- Things eventually go south though
- Evil Anon, thought to be defeated countless times, still lingers in Noctis.
- His words still resonate in Noctis to this day
- “No matter how much light there is, there will always be darkness. Light can not exist without darkness, and darkness can not exist without light. If you really think you can eradicate me like that, then you have another thing coming, pal”
- Over time, Noctis’ darkness consumes him and eats him whole
- He leaves one night, whilst Luna is taking care of Stella
- He leaves nothing but a note, saying good bye to everyone, his regalia, and his Element of Passion
- He banishes himself to far deep within the everfree forest, away from all civilization, living in isolation
- Slowly, the evil within Noctis grows and he becomes the darkness he once tried to destroy
- Noctis is now evil, but wishes not to hurt the ones he once held dear to his heart
- Eventually, though, his own corruption begins to warp his mind and memories
- In his torn and ripped hooded cloak, he returns once more to Canterlot, still stripped of his regalia, but still recognizable due to his legendary cloak
- He returns and kidnaps Luna and begins to plot of evil ways to torture her and uses her as bait to lure the others to him.
- He hopes to be able to break them all, and turn them all into a new army of darkness.
- Eventually, Noctis is defeated, and banished for not 1, not 2, but TEN thousand years.
- He will forever be remembered as the Prince of the darkness.
- Statues of the evil him are created to remember the most evil foe that Equestria had ever faced.
- Luna demanded that one of the old statues would remain though, the one made on their last anniversary together, depicting the two hugging in a loving embrace, and she finally got her way
- >10,000 years later
- Noctis finally returns back to Equestria, still evil, and notices that no one is in sight, and that the castle laid in ruins, with no one to rule the land. There was no Sun or Moon in the sky, the once bright blue and enchanting black sky, was now just a dull and lifeless gray.
- He declares himself the ruler of the world and resurrects many of the long dead citizens to do his bidding.
- After a while, he finds Discord, an old friend of his.
- Friends… it’s been so long since I have felt the magic of friendship. Man do I still remember when he and I were friends. He was the chaotic one, whimsical with his powerful magic. He surely lived up to his name, but I know I surpassed him in both evil and power. Perhaps I’ll release him from the statue. Perhaps having someone around to rule with, would make ruling an empty world, a bit more pleasurable.
- >After much consideration, Noctis finally releases Discord
- Discord: “Ah how good it is to be back.”
- Noctis: “Discord, what has happened here since my absence?”
- Discord: “Oh, it’s you. Don’t even try talking to me like we are still friends after these thousands of years. I remember what you did to me.”
- Noctis: “You seem to forget that I also granted you your freedom thousands of years ago, that I stood up for you when no one else wanted to, that I JUST RELEASED YOU FROM YOUR IMPRISONMENT!
- Discord: “These things mean nothing to me, after what you have done to Equestria. Why you even physically hurt your own wife. You want to see her don’t you?”
- Noctis: “I don’t even remember her name. I could care less whatever happened to any family I once had. I am the ruler of this world now, and what I say goes.”
- Discord: “Have fun ruling an empty world, filled with nothing but the echoes of the screams of the deceased.”
- Noctis: “What the hell happened here when I was gone?”
- Discord: “Oh it’s simple, really. A few thousand years after you were gone, I’d say about 6,000 years after your banishment, Equestria had a new threat. That threat, was darkness itself. Your dark minions had risen from the shadows and destroyed everything. Slaughtered countless people. The strong willed were simply turned to stone instead of killed by their magic, however. Sora, Star Swirl, Celestia, and even your wife, whose name was LUNA, by the way, all died. Luna’s death, I think was the saddest. She was kneeling by your statue, the statue of the two of you hugging together, crying, praying that somehow, you would come back and put an end to all of this. But you didn’t, and the world suffered because of it. We all did.”
- Noctis: “Damn, I had tried to reawaken my minions 4000 years ago, and summon them to me, to command, but I had simply thought my efforts were fruitless. Little did I know any of this happened. Now, other than you, do you know of anyone who remains a statue and can be revived?”
- Discord: “Go to your statue, and you’ll find the answer you seek. Tata for now.”
- With a snap of his fingers, Discord was gone, and Noctis was alone.
- “Alone… I’m all… alone. Loneliness has been my friend for 10,000 years, and it seems as though it will continue to be my only friend for the rest of my existence. Damn my immortality.”
- Noctis walked slowly to where Discord said he could find Luna, and find her he did.
- Her body, frozen solid, turned into dark gray stone, completely lifeless. Her once flowing mane and tail now are solid and still, her tears, dripping from her eyes, frozen in mid air, levitating and defying gravity.
- Underneath her was one thing. A very sentimental thing that had been special to Luna since that very first day, the Elements of Passion. She had still worn the element of shining darkness around her neck, hoping that somehow, a part of the Noctis she loved was still in there.
- Looking at the description that the statue had, Noctis noticed some new words, written in by who he could only presume to have been Luna.
- The words read: “Our love will last for all eternity, with or without your presence. I will love you to the bitter end, my dear Noctis.”
- She seemed to have engraved that in using her own two hooves, knowing that the end was near. She must have known that Noctis was still bound to come back one day, and she was correct.
- The words made Noctis tear up, and made his dark heart, beat with sorrow and remorse. Noctis had finally felt true emotion again after 10,000 years, but it was not the happy emotion he wanted. No, instead his heart felt nothing but Sorrow, Anger, Self-loathing, Rage, Regret, and Depression.
- He knew, that Luna, was gone. That there was no saving her. That her spirit had long since departed the empty husk that remains of her.
- Beside Luna, lay the statue of a grown up Stella, Noctis’ and Luna’s own daughter. He sensed her spirit had still lingered within the husk, and without any time to waste, immediately released her from her statue imprisonment.
- >Noctis had his hood covering his face, so he will not let his daughter see what has become of him over 10,000 years.
- With her release, Stella instantly asks a question, about Noctis’ identity, and his purpose.
- Stella: “Who are you? Why did you do this?”
- Noctis: “I wish I could reveal to you what my true identity is, but it is better for the both of us if you do not know my true name, so I will simply like to be called, Anonymous.”
- Stella: “Okay Anonymous, how are you alive, and why did you bring me back?”
- Anonymous: “Because, a certain old, chaotic and disruptive frie-… acquaintance, shall we say, of mine had told me all about what had happened here. That Noctis’ dark army had rose from the shadows and destroyed everything. I was also told that the magic of those creatures turned the most strong willed into living statues. I had sensed a living presence inside of you, so I had released you. Loneliness… is a terrible thing.”
- >Stella soon puts the pieces together and discovers that Anonymous, was her father, Noctis, remembering the stories she was told when she was a foal. She remembered that Anonymous was his old name, and that Discord was once a close family friend
- >She confirms this after she uses her magic to uncloak Noctis, revealing his scarred, and disfigured face
- >She refuses to talk to him anymore and leaves
- >Noctis then goes to the remains of the throne room of the Canterlot castle, and sits on the throne he normally would have sat on, and just watches the time pass as the world still goes round
- >Eventually, Stella returns to a broken, crying, vulnerable Noctis, who had now returned to Luna and had been desperately casting spells on her husk, in a fruitless attempt to revive her
- Stella: “Listen, father. I have found a way that you can undo all the wrong doing you have caused. Perhaps you may not save this future, but you can create a new one. With the time travel spell, you can undo everything. You only have once chance though, and you must make it count. Perhaps you can earn my respect, in another future. “
- Noctis: “Stella, don’t you see? It is worthless. There is nothing I can truly do to stop this without killing myself. The choices I have made in the past have damned me to this future. This is my ultimate fate, to slowly wither away, deserving no company in this desolate world I am responsible for. There is no way to truly undo these wrongs that I have committed. It is game over for me, now go, find some other world to live on, and leave me to eternally rot in loneliness on this forsaken world.”
- >Noctis then decides to do the last thing he could do
- >He casts a spell to return him to a human form
- >Thus stripping him of immortality
- >Time starts to catch up to him as his skin slowly peels away, eventually leaving Noctis to become nothing but ash
- >Stella begins to cry seeing time make her own father wither away
- >She realizes that she didn't really hate him as much as she said
- >She realizes that she is partially responsible for his death
- Stella: "What have I done? My father never honestly wanted any of this to happen, yet I treated him like he was a mad man all along, even after he had shown he was truly sorry."
- >Snap
- Discord: "Well well well. It seems to me as if the old man has finally bit the dust. I have to say... I didn't want it to end like this."
- Stella: "Neither did I, Discord, neither did I."
