After a pleasant orgasm they curled up to await Elise and Jack's return. Karen and Krissy awoke to a strange feeling. Outside it was just beginning to get dark. The strange feeling was that they were all alone. The two girls got up and looked through the house, finding no one around. Their clothes were where they left them in the den as were the iced tea glasses. Karen worried about Elise, wondering why they'd left so suddenly. The girls dressed, their bodies sticky from their activities. "Maybe they had to go somewhere like a party, or some meeting." Krissy offered. "Yeah, but I think Elise would've at least left us a note." Karen replied. I don't like the way this feels. They started to leave, but decided to check the garage first. Both girls looked, and blinked. The car, if that's what it was, in the garage looked like nothing either of them had seen before. It sat there, inches off the ground, but without any wheels. The windows were silvery, like mirrors. There wasn't any sound at all. Karen and Krissy slowly circled the machine, wondering what it was. There were controls on the side, with markings that looked odd. Russian crylic? No, Karen had seen their alphabet, and they didn't have anything that looked like that symbol. "Let's get out of here." Krissy said. "This gives me the spooks." "Why?" A voice asked. It seemed to come from no place, yet all around them at once. They looked but saw no one near. "Why?" The voice asked again. "Why what?" Karen asked. "Why does...'this gives me the spooks'." The voice asked. The last part was Krissy's voice, repeating her own words. "It's a machine." Karen said. "Yeah, and curious too." Krissy said with humor she didn't feel. "Uh..it's spooky because we don't know what's going on." Karen said, looking around for someone to address. There was a pause while the machine considered. "You are looking for Elise and Jack?" It asked. "Yes. Have you seen them?" Karen asked hopeful. "I do not 'see' as you put it." The voice replied. "But I retain their images and access points." "Okay okay. You know where they are then?" Karen said. "I know where they are, and where they are not." The machine said. "Can you send them a message?" Karen asked, hoping it understood. There was that delay again. "Yes, but there will be no reply until 7200 daklas, Conithian standard." "What's that in our time?" Krissy asked. Pause. "23:51:03.0056 local time." The voice replied. "Precise anyway." Karen mumbled. "Thank you. Your message?" The machine asked. "Tell them Karen and Krissy are worried about them, and..." Karen began. "They are in no danger." The machine replied. "Just the same... we are worried about them, and would like to see them again, when they come back." Karen dictated. "End of message?" The machine inquired. "Yes, no! Wait." Karen thought for a moment. "Whoever they are, tell them 'thank you', and sign the message 'Love, Karen and Krissy.'" "End of message?" The machine replied. "Repeat message back to me." Karen said. The machine repeated her message, using her voice. "End of message." Karen said. Pause. "Please stand clear, at least 3 drags." The machine warned. "Is that like 3 yards?" Krissy asked, moving back and pulling Karen with her. Pause. "Please stand clear, at least 6 feet." The girls moved over by the door to the house. The watched as a small door opened and a dish-like antenna came out. It glowed a light greenish color, pointed towards the roof. The dish retracted a moment later. "Message transmission completed." The machine intoned. "Any further inquiries?" Karen stepped forward. "Explain your presence here." Pause. "Null program. Improper information request." Karen thought for a moment. "Why don't you have any wheels?" Krissy thought that an odd question to ask. The machine considered this. "I have no need of wheels." "How do you stay off the ground?" Karen asked. Pause. "Null gravity flux generation." Was the reply. "Is that how you move too?" Karen kept the questions going. Pause. "Local travel is performed by varying the gravity flux around the generation coil. Momentum is gained by polarized shifts, and lost by reverse polarity to the relationship of the local fields." "Whew!" Karen said, looking at Krissy. "Did you get all that?" Krissy nodded, but stayed by the door. "Are you an...interstellar or interplanetary ship?" Karen asked. Pause. "I am capable of both. My primary purpose is n-dimensional field-phase shifting, and sequential trans-galactic transposition." "Shee-it!" Karen said. "I am unfamiliar with the local term 'shee-it'. Can you provide data?" The machine asked. Krissy and Karen laughed. "Local profanity, with excessive emphasis on the first syllable." "Understood." Pause. "Correlates to 'shit', also feces, dung, guano, crap, excrement, bullshit, horseshit, dogshit,..." "Enough!" Karen laughed. "You've got the idea." "Thank you." The machine said. "Do you have a name?" Krissy asked. Pause. "Yes. My name is Dee-Dee." The machine said. "My, what a deep voice you have Dee-Dee." Karen said. A light voice filled the air. It sounded like a child. "Is this better?" Dee-Dee asked. "Yes, much." Karen decided. "How'd you get a name like Dee-Dee?" Krissy asked. "My name is DD18-2800." It replied. "I like Dee-Dee better." Krissy said. "Friendlier." "Thank you." Dee-Dee said. "Listen, do you really go to other planets and stuff?" Krissy asked. "Most excursions are to other dimensions, but several planets have been explored." Dee-Dee said flatly. "Are you waiting for something?" Karen asked. Pause. "Not correct. Not something, somebody." Dee-Dee said. "Who are you waiting for?" Krissy asked nervously. "I am waiting for the return of J1771 and E1138 from their assignment." Dee-Dee responded. "Jack and Elise?" Karen asked. "That is correct. Jack and Elise are their local identifiers." Dee-Dee replied. "They're robots?" Krissy asked. Pause. "Biological units only, with minor cybernetic enhancements for this mission." Dee-Dee informed the girls. "Well, at least I'm glad of that." Karen said. "Me too." Krissy added. "Say, Dee-Dee, how long will they be here. On their mission or whatever it is." Karen asked. "Another nine rotations of the planet - nine days." Dee-Dee replied. "Okay. Umm, can we come back and ask you more questions?" Karen asked hoping that this would all make sense later. "Yes, that is acceptable." Dee-dee said. "Okay. Well, good-bye." Karen said. "'Bye" said Krissy. "Good-bye." Dee-Dee said. The girls left, walking slowly and finding themselves walking faster and faster until they ran the last few steps up to Karen's door. They got inside and looked at each other. "Are we dreaming all this?" Karen asked. Krissy walked up and slapped Karen's face. "HEY! What'd you do that for?" She yelled. "Well, if I'm dreaming, I felt my hand sting, and if you're dreaming..." Krissy said. "Yeah, my face HURTS! Dammit, you don't have to hit so hard!" Karen scolded. Krissy's eyes filled with tears. "I'm sorry. I'm scared though. What WAS that thing?" "I dunno." Karen said, putting her arms around her friend. "I have to think about this, it's not making any sense." They ate mechanically, while they thought. Karen figured it all made sense -- if you were crazy or reading a science fiction novel. Elise and Jack were from some other planet. Or dimension. So why were they here? A shiver went through her when her mind flashed "breeding experiment" like a neon sign. No, because she could have walked out and not let him touch her. Elise seemed to be the leader, the instigator. A scouting mission before invasion? Should she alert the authorities? What would she tell them? "I was having great lesbian sex with this lady but she's actually from another dimension...". Karen would get a one-way trip to the rubber room. The two girls talked about it until late, then remembered that Dee-Dee had said that a reply wouldn't be until about midnight. It was past that now. They were arguing about going back and ask Dee-Dee about a reply when the doorbell rang. Karen looked out the peephole, with Krissy safely back by the kitchen. She opened the door. "I'm sorry if we worried you." Elise explained. "We owe you an explanation." "We?" Krissy asked, looking for Jack. "Our people, and specifically, me." Elise said. "May I come in?" Karen let her in, directing her to the den. Elise sat on the sofa, as did Karen. Krissy stayed over by the bar. "Our people have a large curiosity, and we study other cultures and civilizations." Elise began. "We take the good ideas and good concepts and apply them to our world. We have no need for armies or war, as we have learned by watching what a terrible waste it is." "Yeah." Krissy said. "My uncle died in one." Elise paused for a moment. "That would be Vietnam?" Krissy nodded. "My sympathies." Elise said. "As I was saying. We saw that your world, primitive as it is, had several things we lacked. One was a unique, diverse world. You'd be surprised at how many worlds are populated by only one race, or one culture. Here you have diversity in abundance! It is such a rich place for that. Secondly, you have just begun to look at your ecosystem as a whole. Not too many races as young as yours have been able to do that. Thirdly, along with your diversity of culture, you have a diversity of ideas too. This leads to your terrible wars, and to great inhumanities, but it is a source of your wealth. The last was a driving, primal instinct to reproduce. Our own race has lost that, having only specific times when we can reproduce. Our own desires are primitive at that stage, but at other times, we hardly use them. This has created a lack of interest between our sexes. Our population is falling, as some of our people lock themselves up rather than be humiliated by these desires." "So, you've come here to study us, and see how we have sex?" Krissy asked. Her tone sound a trifle offended. "Not precisely." Elise said. "Jack and I are studying the things I mentioned, but we have an ulterior motive too." "What's that?" Krissy asked nervously. "Yes, make it march." Karen said. "We plan to move here after our mission is finished. We're both trained planetologists as well as cultural specialists. We'd both be happy living in a young culture with such diversity, despite our handicap." "Handicap?" Karen asked. "You mean being aliens?" Krissy inquired. "No, not that." Elise said. Unless someone analyzed our DNA, they'd never know we're not humans. I meant our sexual handicap." "Oh." Krissy said. "But you don't seem to be bothered by it now." "That's because we've been surgically altered, by tying off a certain organ in our bodies, it keeps the sexual urges alive." Elise explained. "That might show up on an x-ray if you ever got hurt." Krissy said. "If that's a special organ." "I'm not up on your medicine here. By the way, you do have good medicine for a young race too. All the wars I suppose." Elise remarked. "But the organ I'm talking about is called, um, the 'index'?" "Appendix." Karen corrected. "Yes, that's it." Elise said. Karen explained how some people have theirs removed due to infection with a very common and simple operation. Elise's eyes lit up. "We've always thought it was an important organ, and here you have a procedure for it! Jack will be thrilled." She said. Elise was happy. "This give hope for us after all." "Does that mean you won't be coming back?" Krissy remarked. Elise rose from the sofa and took Krissy's hands. "What? And leave the only women in three galaxies and seven dimensions who have ever made me lose my mind? The only women who've shown me the pleasures of a complete, total orgasm? NEVER!" "But you have to go away soon?" Karen asked, standing behind Elise. "You talked to Dee-Dee, I know." Elise said quietly. "We left because Krissy triggered Jack's implant -- he was impotent on our planet, now he's found out he likes sex. Yes, we have to leave in nine days time. But we'll be back within one of your years. By that time, we'll have established enough credit to return here permanently, with enough left over to live here comfortably for many years." "Promise?" Karen said, tears welling in her eyes for the woman who'd given her so many firsts in her life, and in just a short time. "I promise dear. Both of you dears." Elise said, pulling them both to her. "We could do it quicker, but we need time to plan things out." They kissed each other, and then Karen suggested a celebration, pouring some cold champagne for them. Elise wanted to call Jack, but Karen said they would all take him the rest of the bottle. The girls found out something that night. They were definitely going to have to teach Elise how to hold her liquor! -- The End -- Or perhaps, the beginning of a wonderful series.
