Notes See the end of the work for notes ***** intro ***** Chapter Notes See the end of the chapter for notes “Please,” The man begs. Tears and blood dripped to the warehouse floor in a puddle. “I-I don’t know anything more t-than what I’ve told y--” He’s cut off with another kick to the stomach, unable to protect himself as his hands remained bound behind his back. The best he can do is curl up and attempt not to vomit. He doesn’t even dare to look up, not wanting to meet the eyes of the person looming above him. Bakugou Katsuki glares down at the body beneath him, red irises feasting upon the man’s apparent suffering. He squats and pulls the other up by the back of his shirt, whispering into his ear. “You don’t know a damn fucking thing, huh?” Lips twisted in a maniacal grin, he reaches into his pocket and pulls out his butterfly knife. The unlucky victim makes the mistake of opening his eyes, only to wail once he caught a glimpse of The Black Dahlia knife, appropriately named after the same grizzly murder that the Yakuza leader had a keen obsession with. “Guess I’ll have to fuckin’ kill ya.”   Before another word can be said, Bakugou digs the knife right into the man’s lower abdomen. The blade swiftly glides through the skin and muscle, travelling the circumference of his waist. Bits of intestine spill out. The man is choking on his own blood, convulsing in Bakugou’s grip. More cuts are made until the sickeningly satisfying splat of the man’s lower half detaching from his upper half and falling on the ground echoes within the room’s walls.     ===============================================================================   “Please,” The student begs. He makes puppy dog eyes at his classmate, hoping to sway her somehow. “It’s a really nice coffee shop, and the district isn’t as dangerous as people say! I mean, I’m still alive and well!” Though his words seem innocent enough, his intentions are dark, plans concocted by the rest of his class with the goal of causing nothing but trouble. But the girl in front of him is too meek to be able to tell. Mika Kobayashi bites her bottom lip. Her fingers subconsciously grip onto her skirt, eyes flitting around rapidly. She can feel the judging stare from above her already, but her mind debates on whether or not there’s malice behind the invitation or if she’s just imagining it. Anxiety wells up in her, mind reeling with all the possibilities of what could happen, while her heart swells with happiness from the fact that she was finally being talked to. After a full minute, Mika lifts her head and nods, a soft smile playing on her lips. “I’ll check it out when I have the time.” Is the simple reply she gives. She then returns to her book, sinking back into her small fantasy world to let her heart rate slow down. If she had paid attention a bit longer she would’ve seen and heard her classmates smirk and snicker at her for taking the bait. “Does she know who owns that district?” “She’ll find out when her guts get ripped the fuck out.” Chapter End Notes hi. id really love to know what you think. ***** how they meet ***** Their worlds collide two weeks later on a fateful autumn night.     ===============================================================================     Mika lets out a soft sigh as her cold hands wrap around her fifth warm cup of hot chocolate of the week. She brings it to her mouth and sips it, the creamy foam getting on her upper lip. She lets the hot liquid heat up her insides, smiling as she cleans her lips with the tip of her tongue. “Ah, Akashi-san was right… This is good… I have to thank him later.”   The coffee shop is warm and cozy, lights dim but just bright enough for her to read. The glass window provides a beautiful view of the dusk sky and orange leaves floating to the ground. She thinks there can’t be anything more perfect than this.   Oblivious to her surroundings, she buries her nose into her newest book and tunes out the world.   The coffee shop employees glance at her worriedly, but say nothing. Perhaps if they did, they could’ve prevented something. They knew better than to ever let a new person linger but, instead, chose to stand and watch like cowards as Bakugou Katsuki himself walked into the little cafe with no care in the world.   Mika doesn’t even lift her head.   ===============================================================================   Bakugou glances around and sits down two tables away. He doesn’t notice the new girl, at least not yet.   One of the waitresses, Suzuki, thinks of warning Mika. She would say, young girl, please leave, and never return here. Go back to your own district and save yourself. Stop coming here. But she can’t find the courage to, especially when red eyes stare at her intensely. She’s trembling in her shoes but meets the harsh glance with one just as harsh. “The usual.” Bakugou says gruffly, before pulling out his phone.   Suzuki goes into the kitchen and comes back with a cup of espresso with a shot of Hennessy. Her eyes flicker to Mika momentarily, silently begging for the poor girl to leave before he notices. Please leave, for the love of all that is holy.     Bakugou mumbles out something under his breath. Just his voice alone is enough to make Suzuki’s skin crawl with fear. She skitters away from the Yakuza leader, but not before screaming internally after seeing a gun holster attached to his pants.   ===============================================================================       “Fucking get on it, useless half and half.” Bakugou hisses into his phone and taking a gulp of his drink. “I don’t care if you have to keep reviving him. Electrocute him till he either gives us info or gets his brain fucking fried.”   Anger simmers beneath his skin, barely contained as he hangs up and slams his phone onto the wooden coffee table. This was supposed to be his day off. If only his subordinates weren’t so fucking useless. Useless, useless, useless. If he was superhuman, he would’ve taken the entire goddamn country himself without anyone’s help. But he had to start with Tokyo for now, at the very least.   He had over half the city rolling in his palm, either in admiration or fear. He loved the control, he loved knowing he had so many people willing to get on their knees because their lives were in his hands and could get crushed at his simple command. But he loved knowing he could spare them as well.   One of the ways he kept this district in check was by making sure there weren’t any outsiders lingering for too long.   So when he spots the same girl that had been roaming his home district for almost a week, his instincts go haywire.   ===============================================================================     When Mika looks up from her book, it’s evening and the cafe is empty. “Oh!” She stands up abruptly, chair squeaking loudly. “Gosh, I didn’t even notice it was dark…” Teeth dig into her bottom lip as she quickly gathers her things.   The coffee shop employees, especially Suzuki, watch silently as Mika walks out.   They can only pray he takes mercy on her.   ===============================================================================   The train station is only fifteen minutes away by foot, and Mika enjoys walking, so she decides to do so. Her bag is slung over her shoulder, torso wrapped in a warm coat with a scarf around her neck. Her breath comes out in soft puffs, walking in a steady rhythm of left, right, left, right, chanting in her head.   She looks forward to her little apartment with her little bed and a warm bowl of miso soup.   The streets are strangely quiet this time around. There’s still the distant sounds and lights from the rest of Tokyo, but it’s more quiet here than Mika remembers it being. Just hours ago, the streets were alive with children playing and cars passing by, but now it’s just…   Maybe it’s just a bit late, she rationalizes. The silence is different, but peaceful. She kind of enjoys it, but continues walking. All she wants is to go home and enjoy the rest of her weekend.   Headlights appear from behind her, and she pays no mind to it. She expects it to simply go past her, but is filled with confusion as it stops right beside her. Glancing briefly at it, she chooses to ignore it until she realizes it’s slowly following her as she walks.   “Uh…” Mika stops walking, turning towards the car. “H-hello?” She tries to peer into the tinted windows but sees nothing but a reflection of herself and the streetlight above her.   The driver’s window rolls down, revealing spiky blonde hair and crimson eyes. “Hey there, angel face. Need a ride?” End Notes scream at me on my tumblr. :) Please drop_by_the_archive_and_comment to let the author know if you enjoyed their work!
