The fact that the Jeons migrated from the Korean peninsula and built up a powerful business in London was a thorn in their eyes. When the Lord and the Madam had died in an accident some months before their seventeen years old son had become the head of the household. He’d inherited the big mansion in the countryside with a handful of servants as well as a house in the heart of London. The boy had also had to take his father’s place as the leader of the company which caused an uproar among the shareholders. They’d found Jungkook far too young and inexperienced to be the new chairman. Not to mention the boy’s appearance or attitude, that wasn’t exactly pleasant either. Due to his bad eyesight Jungkook had to wear massive circular glasses so his eyes looked comically wider, his clothes were always a size bigger like he wanted to hide in them. But despite all of the above the boy didn’t look young or pitiful. Actually, Jeon Jungkook’s aura was the most terrifying thing the English noblemen have ever faced. The boy was always eerily quiet and just studied the room with his dark eyes, but whenever he spoke out his sharp tone made everyone wince. Anybody who had the misfortune to meet him said that the boy was surrounded by evil spirits; some outright said he was the devil himself. Jungkook was well aware of the rumours but he couldn’t care less. He was a man on a mission so he didn’t have time to deal with all of the gossips going around the country. Their fear gave him space to breath. And to investigate. Because Jungkook was sure the accident wasn’t the real reason of his parents’ death. He might have been young, but he wasn’t stupid. His father once was the best businessman in England, he could manipulate anyone to do as he wished, he had impeccable insight and connections. Name a thing and the Lord could get it within a week. For a reasonable price of course. But Lord Jeon, unsurprisingly, had many enemies. Something that couldn’t be helped in business. Jungkook had always envied him and wanted to be just like him. He was dead set on taking revenge and he already had a plan in store. He might have paid an enormous amount but he was desperate. Once he would have fulfilled his mission he'd wouldn't have interest in anything else. That’s where Taehyung came into the picture. The boy looked like he was barely older than the nobleman himself and he too had Asian features, but Jungkook knew what others didn’t. Taehyung wasn’t even from this world. Desperate times call for desperate measures, so a week after the funeral Jungkook turned to dark magic. He was sure his parents’ were victims of assassination but Scotland Yard had refused to look into the case. They’d told the boy it had been a simple accident but Jungkook knew the noblemen bribed the detectives. That’s why he couldn’t sit still. When he was roaming around the hidden part of the library he’d found a rather interesting book. Between the old and dusty books laid a thick volume. Jungkook had only dipped into the it out of pure curiosity because he couldn’t read the strange letters on its spine. It turned out the book was some kind of diary of an old magician with great powers. The text was written in an unknown language but under each line there was his father’s messy Korean handwriting. Jungkook had been reading the book for weeks without the servants knowing. He didn’t want to share it with anyone so he would read it at night, hidden in the back of the library. As he was trying to decipher the content of the book he felt like he was spending some time with his father again. Then he had found the ritual. He could summon a demon servant for his soul in return. Jungkook didn’t need much time to think about it. Since his family’s death his soul felt like an empty shell anyway, so why couldn’t he give it to a demon? It might have a better use of it. In seven days he prepared everything for the ritual and gave some days off for the servants. He wanted the mansion all to himself so nobody could disturb him when he made the first step in his revenge plan. At night he drew a pentagon on the floor of the library and lit all the candles. He stood into the centre of the drawing then started murmuring the chant that he knew by heart after all the practising. At first nothing had happened and the boy was filled with anger and disappointment. Then the lights started flickering, the floor shook violently and all the books in the library fell down creating a mess. Then Jungkook felt it. The excessive amount of pain that travelled from his heart to the rest of his body and it centralized in his left eye. The boy trashed on the ground screaming and crying but instead of salty tears, blood stained his cheeks. Jungkook thought he was dying but then he heard chuckling. The sound was deep and smooth sending shivers down the boy’s spine. Soon there was a figure too, a tall man (boy?) ascended from the middle of the pentagon wearing a black butler uniform. His brown hair was styled back so his prominent eyebrows were visible just like his demonic red eyes. “Are you the one who called for me?” He asked in perfect British English. “Who else could have?” Jungkook answered although his tongue felt like a heavy weight in his mouth. Not to mention the pain that still made his muscles strain. "Why would a young boy like you need a demon servant? Did you play with daddy’s book and summoned me by accident?” The demon raised his eyebrows with a smirk. “Fuck off. I have my reasons,” Jungkook spat. “Well then. Last chance to back out. You went through the first wave of pain but this will be even worse and I can’t guarantee you survive it.” “I’m not giving up now. I have to take revenge and I need more power to succeed,” Jungkook stood up with shaking legs to face the demon. “ Well it definitely sounds interesting. I’ve warned you though,” the monster shrugged with a sinister smile then stepped closer and placed his hand on the boy’s forehead. Jungkook almost fell back from the amount of pain he felt but it was like he was binded. He couldn’t move any of his muscles nor cry out in agony. He could only look at the terrifying but breathtakingly beautiful demon in front of him and take all the pain his touch gave him. The ache in his left eye became more and more unbearable until he had to close his eyes before it exploded. Just as the nobleman thought he couldn’t take it anymore the hand left his forehead. “You’re stronger than you seem, I give you that” the demon remarked then took the boy’s face in his hands and wiped off the blood from his cheeks. “Now it’s your turn to give me a name.” Jungkook opened his eyes and looked at the monster in front of him. He reached out to inspect the bloody red pentagram freshly formed on the creature’s hand before he spoke: “Your name is Kim Taehyung and from now on you have to live like the Jeon household’s butler, serve and protect me from any form of danger until I get my revenge. Then you can take my soul.” His voice was low but full of authority and the demon fell down to his knees before answering. “Yes, my Lord.” ***** Chapter 2 ***** Chapter Notes See the end of the chapter for notes Jeon Jungkook used to be a cheerful child with bubbly laugh and wide, bunny- like smile. His adorable giggles filled the mansion with life even after the boy turned seventeen. He used to play with a servant named Jimin who was close to his age and Hoseok who was a literal ray of sunshine and a servant at the Jeon household as well. The three of them were inseparable, laughing and playing pranks all day. Seokjin the chef had been looking after the boys, punishing them even when they had stepped over the boundary. It was like a second family for Jungkook and even his parents allowed him to spend time with them although their social ranks couldn’t be more different. There were many other servants around before his parents’ accident but not long after the funeral he fired all of them except his three friends. They were more like family than staff anyway and they helped Jungkook feel a tad bit better, although the younger never said it out loud. When Taehyung got into the picture the three servants were immensely suspicious but Jungkook told them they needed a butler who could keep things in control. It wasn’t enough explanation but they didn’t want to question it further. They thought the young master needed change in order to get over the tragedy so they tried their best to welcome the newcomer. Their dynamics changed after that. Taehyung was a picture perfect butler who did everything he was asked to. He took care of things around the mansion, organized the other three servants’ duties also acted like Jungkook’s right hand man. He served tea at the young master’s business meetings at the mansion, also accompanying him when he had to visit the company in London. When his father founded Bangtan Toys it was just a small shop hidden in the many narrow streets in London but thanks to the Lord’s connections and impeccable business spirit the company went through a great change. New factories had been built, new shops had opened also the number of shareholders raised visibly. Bangtan Toys became one of the most powerful companies in the country conquering the foreign markets as well, making people wonder how it was even possible. However there were a handful of people who loathed the company in the sea of admirers. Even among the shareholders. After his parents’ death Jungkook knew that he had to do his best to protect the company, his father’s legacy. As the heir of Bangtan Toys he had to do anything to get rid of the rats inside. The boy was sure that one of those traitors had to do something with his parents’ death and if it was really the case he’ll punish that filthy murderer. Why would he have summoned Taehyung if not for this purpose? Speaking of Taehyung, the demon fitted surprisingly well into Jungkook’s life. He woke him up every morning exactly at seven thirty, prepared his tea and breakfast, read out his schedule for the day and while he was studying with one of his private instructors the butler took care of various household chores. He was perfect really but these tasks weren’t the reasons for summoning him. His parents’ murderer was still out there and if Scotland Yard refused to investigate then Jungkook will take care of it. With a demonic butler it shouldn’t be that difficult. * * * Mornings at the Jeon estate were always the same. The servants woke up at dawn and started the breakfast preparations under the head butler’s supervision. Back in the day there were many more people in the kitchen but now it was only Seokjin. However the number of people to cook for also decreased. While the chef took care of the menu, Hoseok and Jimin set the table for the young master. There were beautiful and expensive porcelain cups and plates on the table as well as fair silverware. The whole table screamed elegance and wealth just as expected from the Jeons. Taehyung woke up the young master at the usual time, prepared his bath then helped him dress up. The butler did everything with utmost care and respect. The final touch was the black eyepatch that covered the boy’s left eye as well as the pentagram in his dark iris. Although the young master’s eyesight became definitely better, almost perfect, the sign of the summoning had to be hidden from the curios eyes. At least he could get rid of those ugly glasses. “What is scheduled for today?” Jungkook asked as he came down the stairs with Taehyung by his side. The butler pulled out a small black leather notebook from the pocket of his uniform and glanced into it before answering. “After breakfast you’ll have French lessons with Madame Grimoard then Lady Heeyeon and Miss Allen will join us for lunch, my Lord. You don’t have any appointment for the afternoon.” Taehyung listed. “Very well. Did you discuss the lunch menu with Seokjin?” “Of course, my Lord. We’ll serve the finest dish for our guest, just as you’ve requested.” Taehyung answered dutifully. Jungkook nodded contentedly then stepped into the dining hall. There was only one place setting at the end of the long dining table for the master of the household. Taehyung pulled out the chair for him then laid a cloth in his lap before pouring out the tea. The glistening liquid filled the room with a pleasant apple smell, complementing the smoked salmon and fried eggs on his plate. A fresh copy of today’s newspaper lied on the table for the young master to read while eating his meal. Jungkook almost skipped to the business articles on instinct before seeing the headline. “Lord Robert Woods found dead at his home” The boy had to reread the words again and again until his brain processed the information. Lord Woods was one of his father’s loyal men as well as a shareholder of the company. He had always supported the late Lord Jeon no matter what. Lord Woods was a frequent guest at the Jeon estate so Jungkook met him often. The man always bought him candy and let him pull his white beard when he was just a toddler, laughing loudly all along. The article itself wasn’t really useful. Scotland Yard didn’t or couldn’t give out any details nor mention a suspect. At least there was information about the location and the estimated time of the murder. The murderous weapon was also unknown. “Taehyung,” Jungkook looked up from the paper. “we’ll make a visit to Scotland Yard today.” “As you wish my Lord. Shall I prepare something besides the carriage?” “Pack some clothes and necessities. We might spend the night at the Jeon villa in London.” “Yes, my Lord.” * * * The French lesson went by surprisingly fast today and before Jungkook knew it he was on his way to the lobby to meet his childhood friend, Heeyeon. The Ahn family owned the land next to the Jeons and Lord Ahn was also from the Korean peninsula so it was given that the two men will get on well with each other. Their friendship went way back before Jungkook’s birth so the boy grew up like he had two families. The Lord was also one of the biggest shareholders of Bangtan Toys. Lord Ahn married a beautiful English Duchess, Lady Elizabeth and had a daughter together. Heeyeon, or Hani as her close friends and relatives called her, inherited her Asian features from her father but she was just as graceful as her mother. She was also five years older than Jungkook so the girl had always called the boy her ‘adorable dongsaeng’ while he referred to her as ‘noona’. Back in the day when Jungkook wasn’t older than 10 years old he even had a crush on Hani. He had never told the girl of course. Jungkook had many beautiful memories with the girl and her family even after his parents’ death. Lord Ahn was like a second father to him who offered him to move in with them. Although the boy refused it he was immensely grateful. It was a shame really that he has to leave them when he gets his revenge and Taehyung takes his soul as well as his life. When he rounded the corner he was met with an impatient Heeyeon who was currently arguing with Taehyung about wanting to go to see Jungkook in his study. The butler dismissed her request which made her stamp her foot rather cutely. Her lady companion whined about how it wasn’t “very ladylike” making the duchess even more irritated. If Jungkook didn’t know better he would have laughed at his friend but he went to greet the guests instead. Even though Taehyung was a demonic butler an angry Heeyeon was a powerful opponent. “Noona! Long time no see!” He smiled at her gently. Hani immediately stopped arguing and skipped towards him, her long purple dress making her steps difficult. “Jungkookie! Since when do you have such a rude butler?” She pouted but her expression changed quickly when she noticed the eyepatch. “What happened to your eyes?” Heeyeon asked worriedly as she wanted to take it off but Jungkook stepped away in the speed of light. “It was just consequence of a failed surgery. You know how much I wanted to get rid of my glasses. They said the medicine nowadays is developed enough to do these kind of surgeries but as you can see the success rate is only 50% per patient.” The boy came up with the practised lie which was fortunately believable enough for Hani to stop asking any more questions. “What a shame. You looked good with glasses.” She said instead and ruffled his hair. Jungkook’s cheeks turned pink instantly so he opted for leading the way into the dining room where the lunch will be served. He caught a glimpse of Taehyung’s knowing smile in the process though. Just like in the morning the table was set beautifully only for three people this time. Jungkook took his place at the upper end of the table while Heeyeon was seated at his right, next to her sat Miss Allen, her lady companion. During the splendid meal the two friends had the time to catch up on the meantime events. They had last seen each other at the funeral and it would be an understatement to say Jungkook wasn’t very talkative then. This little chit-chat was refreshing after all the business talks at meetings. The seventeen years old boy started to realize how much of a burden leading a company was. A successful one at that. “Have you heard of what happened to Lord Woods? Dad was seriously shocked when he heard the news.” Heeyeon looked up from her steak. There were some leftover sauce in the corner of her mouth and if Jungkook were braver he would have wiped it away with his thumb. “Yeah I’ve read the news too. It’s horrible. Me and Taehyung will go to London after this to offer our condolences to his family. You know how close Lord Woods was to our family. He was like an uncle to me.” “That’s a very kind and mature thought. Our Jungkookie grew up well.” She said but her smile was somewhat sorrowful. After the dessert Jungkook personally escorted the two ladies to their carriage. The weather was especially cold that day making Jungkook want to wrap Hani into warmer clothes. He could have offered her an extra jacket but despite spending all of his childhood with her he was still too shy to take the initiative. “Have a safe trip back to the estate. I send my greetings to Lord Ahn and Lady Ahn.” Jungkook said as the two women took their place inside the carriage. “I’ll tell them you said hi. Be careful on your way to London. You know how dangerous the routes are in Winter.” Heeyeon smiled at him. The boy stood in front of the mansion and stared at the carriage until it disappeared into the woods. He hadn’t noticed when Taehyung came to stand beside him, only when the butler draped a coat around his smaller frame. “You should be more careful not to catch a cold my Lord.” He said in a worried tone. “Are you truly worried about your master’s health or you only care about my soul that won’t be that delicious if my body is weak?” Jungkook asked nonchalantly. “I doubt your soul or body could be anything but enticing my Lord.” The butler said and his voice was laced with something dark that Jungkook couldn’t decipher. It made the young master’s cheeks burn so he just pulled his coat closer together and went back inside. * * * They set off not much after Heeyeon left. Although Jimin and Hoseok were begging to let them go with him and Taehyung-Jungkook was adamant. He had important matters to take care of in the city so he didn’t have time to babysit the two servants. The Jeon villa was located in the wealthier part of London surrounded by many similar buildings. The red three-story building was big itself but it also had an enormous garden with trees, bushes and many kind of flowers. Of course they weren’t blooming in that season. The whole property was bordered by two metres tall fences for security purposes. The only ones who had the keys were Jungkook himself and also Mr. Lloyd who was in charge of the property while the young master was away. Thomas Lloyd was the butler of the late Lord Jeon Jungsuk so Jungkook trusted him enough to leave the villa to his care. The old man was more than reliable and he also acted like Jungkook’s grandfather. When Jungkook got off the carriage in the late afternoon Mr. Lloyd was waiting for them in front of the property with a candle in his hands. He bowed deeply before the young master before escorting him and Taehyung into the building. “I didn’t have much time to prepare for your visit so the dinner is not ready yet but the fireplaces are burning in the lounge and your bedroom young master.” Lloyd informed him. “Thank you. Taehyung bring my luggage to my room then help Mr. Lloyd with the dinner.” “Yes, my Lord.” The butler bowed. Because of yesterday’s snow the roads were almost completely unusable which slowed them down a lot. It was past 6pm when they arrived to London making it impossible to start the investigation. Jungkook wasn’t really keen on spending much time in the city but he had no other choice. The two servants prepared a wonderful dinner for the young master who ate it deliciously. The cream pasta tasted heavenly if Jungkook’s satisfied moans were anything to go by. It made Taehyung watch him eat more intently creating a tense atmosphere. There were always some kind of electricity in the air around them and it intensified whenever they were left alone. Just like now. When Jungkook was finished with eating Taehyung couldn’t miss the leftover cream on the boy’s lips. He remembered the young master’s expression from lunch with Heeyeon and before he knew it he leaned closer instinctively to wipe the splotch off. Jungkook was visibly taken aback by the butler’s action but his face quickly turned red when Taehyung licked the cream off of his finger then winked at him. “Delicious.” The demon said with a smirk then grabbed the empty plate and disappeared in the kitchen before the boy could have said anything. Chapter End Notes Sorry for making you wait for so long, university is much more difficult than I've thought T^T I hope you liked this chapter tho, I'll do my best to update more frequently! ***** Chapter 3 ***** Chapter Notes See the end of the chapter for notes Jungkook stormed up the stairs angrily with a blush high on his cheeks. The boy liked to think that the latter was also a product of his anger but deep down he knew that his butler made him extremely flustered. That bastard played with him and he wanted to punish him severely. How dare that filthy demon mess with him like that? He was Jeon Jungkook the head of the Jeon household, one of the most powerful noble families in England! As he was pacing up and down in his room he tried to come up with the perfect revenge. He could be brattier than usual and make his butler’s life living hell but Taehyung is already used to his tantrums. Jungkook has to step his game up. That’s how Taehyung found Jungkook already in the bathroom when he was about to prepare a bath for the young master. The boy was standing in front of the bathtub naked and trying to figure out the perfect water temperature. The demon’s gaze lingered on the boy’s muscled back and ass before getting into his character again. “What are you doing young master?” Taehyung asked huskily, his tone gave Jungkook more confidence. “What do you think? I’m having a bath.” The boy answered, looking back at his butler. Without the black eyepatch the demon could see his purple eyes and the seal of their contract in it. “You shouldn’t have done it alone. It’s my job to prepare it for you.” The butler objected. “As you can see I’m doing fine by myself.” Jungkook shrugged then lowered himself into the rose scented water. Taehyung bit his lower lip as he watched the scene, the young master’s porcelain white, unmarked skin made him want things he shouldn’t even think about. “I wasn’t doubting it for a second. However as the butler of the household I should take care of my master.” He replied dutifully. “So what you did in the dining room was taking care of me too?” The boy raised his eyebrows questioningly. “Did my master not enjoy it?” The butler stepped closer to the bathtub as he gained more confidence. “Why would I enjoy a filthy demon’s touch?” Jungkook scoffed. “I’m not sure… Maybe because my young master is wise and knows how great are demons at pleasuring humans.” Taehyung leaned down and buried his hand in the boy’s dark, silky locks. “That could be a lie.” Jungkook glanced up at him with an unreadable expression. “Should I prove you how true it is?” The butler whispered, his lips were mere millimetres away from Jungkook’s. The boy let him come closer but he turned away at the last moment so the demon’s mouth brushed his cheeks. “Get your hands off of me. A lowly servant can’t touch his master like that.” Jungkook lay back gracefully in the bathtub with a triumphant smile on his face. “Bring me my pyjama then get out of my sight for today.” “Yes, my Lord.” Taehyung bowed and did as he was told but his face contorted into a bitter grimace. Jungkook was more than pleased with the result, his bunny teeth were showing as he grinned contently. * * * The morning came with another snowstorm but Jungkook couldn’t allow himself to stay indoors. After he was finished with breakfast, Taehyung helped him into his warmest clothes and they took off to Lord Woods’ house. The mansion was quite far from the centre but that’s not much of a distance if you have a demon butler. Although Jungkook felt rather uncomfortable as Taehyung held him bridal style on the way. The area was restricted for the public but again the boy had a demon butler who could easily get them inside. The members of Scotland Yard have already left the scene so it made things even easier. After they were inside the building Jungkook could finally stand on his own two legs which was a huge confidence booster. He started the investigation right away, his boots clicked as he ventured into the living room. According to the sources, the body was found in there and the bloodstained carpet confirmed this statement. Jungkook scrunched his nose upon smelling the congealment. Taehyung was right behind him, his red eyes gleamed as he was inspecting the crime scene. Besides the bloody carpet nothing referred to murder. There wasn’t even a broken vase nor any weirdly angled furniture. Everything was unusually well organized; even the newspapers on the coffee table. The valuable antiquities stood on the shelves, the gold and silver cutlery was in it’s place in the kitchen and there weren’t missing valuables in the rooms either as far as the boy knew. “This wasn’t a burglary that went wrong. Whoever did this clearly had the intention to kill Lord Woods.” Jungkook hummed as the both of them returned to the living room. “I share the young master’s opinion.” Taehyung said. “As the Lord was also a businessman he must have had a lot of enemies. This could also be the reason why the authorities doesn’t have a single suspect.” “Maybe we would find out more if we see the body.” Taehyung suggested. “Indeed. We should pay a visit to Scotland Yard then.” Jungkook nodded and in the next moment he was in his butler’s arms again. “As you wish, my Lord.” * * * It was almost two months ago since Jungkook first stepped into Scotland Yard’s office. He was a scared and angry teen then demanding the authorities to investigate his parents’ death. The boy was positive it was a murder but the officers closed the case almost immediately and labelled it as an unfortunate accident. He felt humiliated back then but he got more confidence in the form of the demon butler by now. He strolled into the hall as if he owned the place and went straight to the inspector general’s office. Lord Randall wasn’t expecting company much less Lord Jeon and his butler to show up in his room. The boy’s eerie aura filled up the space making the officer uncomfortable. Still he steeled his nerves and looked at the intruder calmly. “I’m afraid I don’t have time to chat with you, Lord Jeon.” “Oh it won’t take much time. I just want to take a look at the files from Lord Woods’ case.” Jungkook gave the man a tight lipped smile. “Excuse me?” Lord Randall blinked visibly taken aback. “The Lord Woods case. I want the files.” The boy repeated in a patronizing tone. “And who are you exactly to ask for them? Go away and play detectives with your butler somewhere else!” The officer snapped after he regained his composure. “You’re being awfully uncooperative, Lord Randall.” Jungkook tsked. “Let’s go Taehyung.” “What are your plans now young master? I’m afraid the officers won’t assist to our investigation.” The butler commented. “If they won’t hand them over to us we’re going to get them ourselves.” Jungkook looked at him as if it was the most obvious thing in the world. “Quite a mischievous boy you are, my Lord.” Taehyung chuckled. “Shut up and follow me.” The boy rolled his eyes. Jungkook’s impeccable sense of directions made it easy for him to find the record office which was at the end of a dark hallway. It was a deserted part of the Scotland Yard so there were slim chances the officers would catch him. “The door isn’t even locked. They make it too easy for me.” Jungkook mused as he stepped into the room. The place itself was huge but the large shelves and bureaus made it extremely crowded. Not to mention the documents scattered around messily all over the room. The boy doubted the officers could find anything in there. “Look through the drawers, the file should be here somewhere.” Jungkook commanded and while Taehyung was searching with inhuman speed he plopped himself down on one of the chairs in the corner of the room. Approximately two minutes later when the young lord was already leafing through the file the door opened and a tall blond man with Asian features appeared on the doorstep. He looked around with wide eyes before his glaze landed upon the boy. “What are you doing here mister? Only officers are allowed in the record office!” The man asked wide eyed. “Don’t mind me I’m almost done.” The boy asked as he glanced up at the newcomer. “Jeon Jungkook!” The officer exclaimed surprised but after one harsh stare from the boy he corrected himself. “Lord Jeon. What are you doing here?” “I’m just looking into things but as I see Scotland Yard doesn’t have the answers to my questions.” He said as he closed the file and handed it over to Taehyung. “Which case are you talking about exactly?” “Lord Woods’. You have no suspect, can’t identify the murder weapon… what do you even know?” Jungkook scoffed. “I know Lord Randall too well. If he can’t find any evidence he’ll say it was a suicide so he won’t have to deal with this case anymore. He did the same after my parents’ accident. He gave up. Or he was blackmailed.” The man stood numbly for a few seconds before looking at the young lord with fire in his eyes. “I want to help you!” He exclaimed. “Why would I want your help?” Jungkook asked with a condescending smile. “I could give you informations about the process of the investigation! Please, let me help! I was an assistant officer under Lord Randall when the Lord and Madame died and I firmly believe it wasn’t an accident but I couldn’t lead an investigation myself back then. I still don’t have much more power or influence but I have access to the files and the corpse. I want to solve this case and catch the murderer!” “I don’t even know your name Mr. Officer. How could I be sure you won’t trick me?” The boy raised his eyebrows. “My name is Kim Namjoon and I’m not that type of a person! I wouldn't be a police officer if I didn’t believe in justice!” The man stated. “Maybe you will be actually useful in the long run. It can be beneficial if we have eyes and ears at Scotland Yard.” Jungkook hummed. Namjoon’s face lit up upon hearing those words, even his dimples showed as he smiled. It was oddly charming. “Am I a part of the team then?” The man asked excitedly. “You’re on probation.” The young lord rolled his eyes. “But you must keep it from Lord Randall! I suppose you know the consequences if your boss finds out you’re helping us.” “Of course Lord Jeon.” Namjoon saluted. “Fine. Keep your eyes open and report me any thing suspicious or if there are any developments in the investigation.” “Yes, Lord Jeon!” * * * “That man could be a very powerful ally.” Taehyung commented as they were sitting in the carriage. “He does have potential.” The boy hummed as he started out of the window. “May I ask where are we going now?” The butler inquired. “To an old friend or rather business partner. My father used to meet them weekly and he brought me with him a few times. If you want to know something related to the underworld of London they know the answer.” The carriage came to a halt in front of an eerie looking building. On the frontage stood the words “Under taker” with bold letters. Taehyung raised his eyebrows when he got out of the vehicle but the young lord marched forward without a second thought. The shop was just as sinister inside as it seemed outside. Most of the room was occupied by various seized and designed coffins, not to mention the shelves full of jars with suspicious liquids inside of them. At the end of the room stood a broad counter with a short man next to it dressed entirely in black. Taehyung couldn’t see half of the man’s face as it was covered with his silver hair and the shadows casted by his hat also made the task rather difficult. “Lord Jeon. What a pleasant surprise. What do I owe the pleasure?” The man spoke in a low raspy voice. Taehyung found his cheshire grin highly suspicious. “I suppose you’ve heard of Lord Woods’ death. I’m sure you have some useful information for me.” Jungkook stepped closer to the man. “I do have some rather interesting observation about the body but I don’t see why I should tell them to you.” He mused. “What is the price you want, Undertaker?” The young lord asked impatiently. “You used to call me Yoongi so boldly when you came with your father. I guess you’ve matured my young Lord.” The man grinned. “Don’t change the topic. How much do you want for the information?” Jungkook huffed. “I don’t want money, boy. I need something more valuable than that.” His tone made Taehyung want to step between the two of them but he knew his master wouldn't be so pleased if he did so. Still the demon stepped a tad bit closer to his lord and watched the undertaker’s every move intently. The man was more than alarming. “What can be more valuable than money?” Jungkook blinked perplexedly. There was a beat of silence before the man answered. “Laughter.” Both Taehyung and Jungkook stared at the undertaker as if he lost his mind and maybe he actually did. “Laughter? You must be kidding me.” The young lord shook his head. “Now stop fooling around and tell me what do you want!” “But I already told you my Lord. If you can make me laugh I’ll tell you everything I know.” Yoongi sprawled out on the counter dreamily. Jungkook was still suspicious but after some seconds of thinking he turned to his butler. “Make him laugh. That’s an order.” “Yes, my Lord.” Taehyung bowed. “However I must ask you to step out for a bit.” “Are you trying to give me orders now?” Jungkook raised his eyebrows with a grimace. “I’m afraid I won’t be able to complete my task under my master’s watch. You need this man’s knowledge don’t you my Lord?” Taehyung questioned. “Fine. You have five minutes. Whether you’re done or not I’m coming in.” Jungkook huffed but still left the room. He was leaning on the building watching his breath turn into vapour in the early December weather. The sky was covered with grey clouds but the snow stopped a while ago. Before the young master could have grow impatient there was loud laughter coming out of the shop. It was Jungkook’s cue to get back into the building and he immediately did so. On the counter he saw Yoongi’s figure still sprawled out but now he had an enormous gummy smile on his face and he was still chuckling. Next to him stood Taehyung with his arms crossed, content smile on his face. “What did you do?” The boy asked full of curiosity. “I didn’t really do much.” The butler answered his grin still in its place. “I’ve seen the paradise.” The undertaker chuckled. “I think I can tell you everything I know now.” “Very well.” The young lord stepped closer to the man. “Maybe the most important thing you’d be interested in is that the murderer wasn’t even a human being.” Chapter End Notes Hit me up on tumblr! ^^ Please drop_by_the_archive_and_comment to let the author know if you enjoyed their work!
