Sans convinces his brother, Papyrus, to take him to visit some of these other universes and/or timelines, only problem is....their first destination was an accident, and a very unpleasant one at that. Notes Thank you for reading my work! This is my very first fanfiction I have ever written, and I actually have the ENTIRE story planned out already! I've just taken a very long time to actually get this from shitposting outline to written work. Timelines. It had to be timelines, why couldn’t his sweet little brother learn about literally anything else aside from timelines? Stars, it was timelines and alternate universes! Papyrus cursed the queen under his breath as he tried to keep his cool in front of his excited little brother, Sans, whom was currently bouncing up and down begging him if they could vacation to other universes. He knew it was too good to be true when he’d been rescued from ERROR that thorn in his side not only exposed his dear sweet little Sansy to the anti-void but he’d told him everything about the other timelines and other versions of themselves. “papyrus come onnn pllleeeaasseee?!! how am i going to know if i’m destined to become captain of the royal guard if i don’t see other versions of me succeeding as well?!!“ sans flashed only his most colorful and gleaming of puppy-dog eyes, knowing his tall brother would be unable to resist their cute charm, and he was correct as always “Fine, fine! We’ll go to another universe, not like you haven’t been to the others before while you were with Error, I’m sure, you may have not realized it brother but they aren’t that different from our own, heh.” and with that, Papyrus scooped up Sans into his arms and shushed the sniggering skeleton, who was overly pleased with himself at his brother’s willingness “You’ll want to hold on tight, bro.” Papyrus chuckled as he fished a box of cigarettes from the bottomless space that seemed to inhabit his brightly colored sweatshirt, flicking out a single stick and clicking it between his teeth, lighting it, and taking a drawn out and relaxed pull much to Sans’ displeasure. “papyyy what did i tell you about smoking near me?! i know i can’t get you to stop but you promised you wouldn’t get the smoke near me, it smells bad!!” the petite skeleton frowned as much as his perma-grin would allow him to, pounding his fists lightly against Papyrus’ sternum in a nagging- loving-brotherly way despite the light coughs his chest gave him. “Nyeh, heh heh sorry bro, part of the travel procedure, you know, rules and stuff, you understand eh?” amused at his brother’s antics, Papyrus grins widely before removing the cigarette from his mouth and snubbing the tip, returning it to his pocket for later use when Sans wasn’t around to bully him out of it.  Before the smaller skeleton could voice his protest, Papyrus pulled him close against his torso, muffling the little trainee against his worn sweatshirt and with a snap of his bony fingers, a shortcut was initiated.   “ Nyeh heh, you can open your eyes now Sans. You know we’re here, right? “   Sans hadn’t even realized anything had happened, much less that they had already traveled, he peeled his face away from his brother’s sweatshirt and blinked up at him in confusion, tilting his head to the side as he squinted his eye sockets incredulously at his smug-faced brother  “what do you mean we’re already here?! papy you’re lying to me there’s no way you just snapped us into a whole other universe, i’m not some easy to trick babybones, i am the magnificent sans and you should know that i am quite skilled at seeing through such japes and –mmpf!!” sans was cut off when long, bony fingers slapped lightly against his teeth, his brother had silenced him! Of all the rude things--!! “Hush, bro, something’s wrong, tibia-honest I don’t think we’re in SunnedOut anymore.” the taller skeleton spoke quietly, keeping his voice far lower than it normally was as he murmured close to Sans’ skull urging him to be quiet, something was indeed very, very wrong. Papyrus had meant to take Sans into another timeline of their own universe wherein he was loved by all and honored as the finest royal guard in history, but where they currently hid amongst the trees, there was snow on the ground, and everything felt….dead. Sans was still none the wiser to their situation, his senses blurred by his exasperation with his brother’s strange behaviors and horrible joke, he didn’t take the hint and pried his brother’s hands away from his teeth only to begin shouting louder than he had before, not sensing the danger like his brother had “PAPYRUS! YOU ARE BEING QUITE RUDE WHY ARE YOU MAKING JOKES AND FORCING MY SILENCE?!” he yelled, echoing off the hollow trees in the forests.   Little did Sans know he’d just made a horrible mistake, for a Papyrus similar to his own, but not quite his, had heard his name from within the forest form what sounded like…another Sans? “HMM. . .HOW  CURIOUS,   PERHAPS  I  SHOULD  INVESTIAGE. . . UNDYNE, THERE’S  SOMETHING  IN  THE  FOREST,  LET’S  HUNT  IT  DOWN.” the captain of this universe’s royal guard sneered at his subordinate, growing bored with watching Undyne suplex boulders simply because she could; he was pleased they finally had a distraction from his boring routine of babysitting these blithering fools, anything to avoid making up petty tasks to keep the dog squad busy. It was always either that, or dragging his worthless sibling out of taverns and throwing him back into his sentry post, the bag of bones would be more useful as a toothpick some days.    Papyrus immediately tried to silence his loud-mouther brother once more, only this time more urgently, he could feel that someone had most definitely heard him that time, and it wouldn’t be long until they encountered a hazard if this universe was a dangerous one. “Sans, we need to go, right now, we can’t stay here. We’re going home.” he tried to pick his miniscule brother back up once more, but Sans thrashed and squirmed his way out of his brother’s arm and protested to being held, crossing his arms across his chest plate and tapping his foot impatiently “ PAPYRUS TELL ME WHERE WE ARE WHY ARE YOU TRYING TO MAKE US LEAVE!!” Sans began yelling at him, insistent on being given a valid point on why they had to get away from here so quickly when they’d just arrived, they hadn’t even met anyon—  schlik, the sound of a weaponized spear slicing up through the earth’s crust caused Sans to shriek in absolute horror as he scrambled to step back, falling onto his coccyx with wide, surprised pupils locking onto the spot he’d just been standing, where a large teal spear stood erect. “heheh we FOUND you, you little SHITS!!!” the voice of what sounded like Undyne to the skeleton brothers rang out across the clearing, startling them both equally, there was no way that was their Undyne who was charging towards them, shredded layers of armor scraping against each other with every step, the sound was the sound of their fate being sealed with every passing second.   Papyrus only had time to push his brother harshly, urging him to get moving before he had to face the assailing monster, throwing up a wall of bones to deflect her jousting; “SANS, RUN!!!!!” the pure brute strength behind her attacks cracking Papyrus’ defenses in a matter of seconds, something about the way this version of Undyne fought reminded Papyrus of a far more merciless and determined version of his Alphys back home. He needed his brother to be safe; he needed Sans to get away from her. As if his body was controlled by another, Sans found himself shakily coming to a stands before breaking into a sprint, barreling through the forests and ducking beneath branches here and there, he could feel his soul hammering in his ribs, would Papyrus be okay? Where were they? Where was he even supposed to run to? Did his brother even know how to fight why wasn’t he staying to help he was the one who had trained for moments like these! Sans didn’t look back, he kept his eyes forward, narrowed in pure focus on finding safety, as excellent an idea that was it left him unaware that he was being trailed by a silent predator far more dangerous than Undyne had been.   “NYEH  HEH  HEH, I  FOUND YOU,  LITTLE  BLUE. “ Please drop_by_the_archive_and_comment to let the author know if you enjoyed their work!
