Or: the sugar daddy AU nobody asked for. ***** How it Began ***** An encounter can change the destiny of more than a person, it just needs two people to meet in different circumstances for everything to change and shake the ties of fate. Josuke posed down the plate he was washing when his mother called him, hurriedly wiping his hands on a cloth knowing very well how much impatient his mom was. “I’m coming, mom!” He shouted, closing the running water and he gave one last look to the kitchen to see if everything was in order. He scrambled towards the front door - not before checking if his hair were in placen - and wondered what his mom wanted from him (it couldn’t be his horrible grade in math, she had already yelled at him enough for that). “Oh, there you are, I thought you were lost or something, I want you to meet someone.” Tomoko grinned at him, one hand on her hip. Josuke would usually glare at her annoyed because of that silly joke, but today he was a little distracted . Yes, because he couldn’t tear his eyes off from the gorgeous man on his front door. He was of average height, not too muscular, blond hair which was so rare to see in Morioh’s streets and sculpted cheekbones that gave him a feline look. It didn’t help that the pink suit he was wearing accentuated all the curves on his body and he really looked good in it. Josuke didn’t know how much time he had been staring to the man, but he finally snapped out his thoughts when his mom cleared her throat and stared at him with her hard gaze. His cheeks reddened in embarrassment and he looked away from her, deciding to settle on the man in front of him again, who was smiling at Josuke like he hadn’t just stared at him in completely silence for more than ten seconds. “Josuke, this is Kira Yoshikage, your grandfather and his father were good friends and he came here to give us condolences.” Josuke tried to ignore how her mom’s voice wavered when she talked about her father and instead offered his hand to Kira, whose smile didn’t falter not even for a moment. “It’s a pleasure to meet you, Josuke-kun.” Josuke felt a shiver running down his spine when Kira spoke his name with his deep voice. Kira took his hand without waiting further and squeezed it not too strong and not too weak, like he had been squeezing hands all his life and he had found the perfect balance for the perfect handshake. “My father told me so much about your grandfather, I’m really sorry for your loss.” Kira spoke calmly, his every word seemed calculated and that piqued Josuke’s curiosity more. At first glance he looked like a normal person, but there was something in this man that gave Josuke shivers. He didn’t know what that was but he really wanted to find out. Seeing how Kira’s eyebrows were lifted waiting for a response, Josuke quickly stuttered out a quick “thank you” and he felt his cheeks burn in embarrassment. And he had made fool of himself again, great. He looked down, not wanting to seem like a stupid again, and realized how their hands were still connected and he could feel the heat radiating from Kira’s body. “Ah… sorry…” He mumbled, letting go of that warm hand. He didn’t miss how Kira’s touch lingered for a moment on his skin. But that was only for a brief instant and Kira’s attention was snatched by Tomoko, who was addressing him with a serene smile painted on her face. “Kira-san, would you like to stay for dinner?” Tomoko asked politely, but her tired eyes told Josuke that she wasn’t really in the mood to. Thankfully, Kira shook his head, his eyes falling on the clock on his wrist. “I would love to, Higashikata-san, but I really can’t tonight… maybe some other time, when we’re all free?” Tomoko’s smile turned a bit genuine and her eyes shined in agreement. “Of course, Josuke and I would love to have you, right, Josuke?” “Ah… yeah, sure…” He nodded numbly, wondering how awkward that dinner would be if it actually happened. “Well then, I’ll be going, it was a pleasure to meet you, Higashikata-san, Josuke-kun.” Kira bowled politely and Josuke imitated awkwardly that gesture, probably making a fool of himself but Kira didn’t seem to be bothered by it. “Likewise, Kira-san.” Thankfully his mom had the ability to say the words he couldn’t tell. Without further words, Kira opened the door and closed it behind his back, not before giving Josuke one last look that made the boy weak on his knees. Damn, he was feeling so hot by just a stare. “He’s pretty normal, boringly so.” Tomoko spoke, crossing her arms under her wide chest. Josuke blinked a few times and turned towards her titling his head. “You think so?” Tomoko nodded solemnly. “Yeah, I remember him when our fathers met, he never stood out, always quiet, never bothered anyone but he never tried to make friends either. I’m surprised he came to give us condolences…” Josuke didn’t say anything but for once he disagreed with his mom. He wouldn’t use “normal” to describe Yoshikage Kira, his movements were too calculated, too precisive for being natural. He may look like a prey but deep down Josuke was sure he was a predator, like a cat playing with a mouse until he grew bored of it and decided to eat it. And then there was that last look and that lingering touch which still burned on his skin that gave Josuke shivers. Okay, maybe those were his hormones talking but he was sure as hell that his interest had been piqued. “By the way Josuke, have you cleaned your room?” Shit, he knew he had forgotten to do something. “Hmm… I did the dishes?” Josuke nervously laughed, taking a step back when Tomoko’s eyes darkened. “So you’re saying that you still haven’t cleaned the room I’ve told you to clean a week ago?” Her threatening tone didn’t pass unnoticed and Josuke knew he was in big trouble. His mom never was kind with punishment. “ JOSUKE. ” Yep, time for running, he was already feeling her foot on his back and he wasn’t really in the mood to get his ass beaten. Maybe he could be interested in Yoshikage Kira another day. ***** Rainy Day ***** Chapter Notes See the end of the chapter for notes Josuke couldn’t believe how unlucky he was today. First, he had woken up late and didn’t have any breakfast before running out to arrive in time at school. Then, after he had stumbled in his classroom just two seconds before the teacher arrived, he noticed he had forgotten his japanese textbook and his teacher had screamed at him for five whole minutes and Josuke had to suffer the snickers and giggles of his classmates for all the morning classes. And since it was still not enough, the caffetteria had finished the bentos and had to stick with the most tasteless bread in existence. But of course, the day hadn’t ended yet and when he thought he could finally go home and relax, a drop of rain hit him straight in the face. “Oh no- fuck!” Josuke yelled, covering his perfect pompadour with his bag. It was useless, the rain poured from the sky in a few minutes, destroying his hair and soaking his uniform. “I can’t believe this.” Josuke moaned finding a refuge under the door of a closed shop. He hadn’t got an umbrella with him and it was the only where neither Okuyasu nor Koichi could accompany him at home. Josuke took his hair in his palm and squeezed, feeling the water ran between his fingers and drop down on the floor. His pompadour was completely ruined and Josuke wanted to cry but there was nothing he could do now, he just had to wait until the rain stopped. Josuke wrapped his arms around himself, feeling the soaked uniform stick against his skin. His body shuddered when cold air hit him, he clenched his teeth and leaned his back against the wall trying to protect himself from the rain as much as he could. “Fuck my life.” Josuke muttered, clattering his teeth together, his body shaking for the chilling weather. Nobody paid him any attention, they walked past him like he was invisible, they didn’t even spared a glance in his direction. No one took pity on him, they were all busy to run away from the atrocious weather than care for a teenager who looked like a shivering punk. Josuke’s eye caught a flash of pink at the end of his vision and he swiftly turned his head at his right and thought it was a mirage at first, but the approaching silhouette looked more familiar the more it walked towards him. Josuke couldn’t believe his eyes, but the man who was passing beside him didn’t seem to have noticed him and was continuing his walk towards whatever direction. However, he was the only one who Josuke knew and he reallyneeded help, so he did the only thing he could do in that moment. He shouted the man’s name in the middle of the street. “Kira-san!” Kira stilled his body and looked around him, brow furrowing in search of the voice that had called him with such fervour. His eyes met Josuke’s soaked figure and he looked surprised to see him there, water dripping down his hair and uniform against the marble floor. “Josuke-kun,” Kira nodded in acknowledgement, swirling his pink umbrella - was this man obsessed with pink? - in his hands and tilted his head to a side, observing the state Josuke was in. “Are you alright?” Josuke laughed nervously and shifted his weight on his other foot. “Well, I’ve been caught up in this horrible weather, like you can see.” He shuddered when an icy water drop travelled down his spine and his pleading eyes found Kira’s. The man in front of him walked towards him, his blue stare roaming on Josuke’s shivering form. He shifted his eyes to his right, like something had caught his attention, before it returned to Josuke. “I would give you a ride home, but my car has been broken since yesterday…” Kira sighed, tightening the tie around his neck as a nervous reflex and he seemed to be genuinely sad about not being able to help Josuke. The boy’s lips curled in a forced smile and leaned his head down in an awkward bow. “Don’t worry, Kira-san, thank you anyway.” Josuke groaned internally. If even Kira couldn’t help him, then all he had left to do was to wait until the rain stopped and who knew when it would… if it continued until night Josuke was fucked. “Josuke-kun,” his head snapped up when Kira called him and was surprised in seeing that the man in front of him had leant his umbrella towards him so that it would cover both of them. Josuke was touched by that small gesture, but he furrowed his eyes in confusion, not understanding what Kira wanted to do. The man smiled and pointed beside him, making sure that his suite wouldn’t be soaked by the falling water. Josuke cranked his neck to see what Kira was pointing at, but his vision was blurry because of the rain and the colours mixed together like they were making fun of Josuke. Kira kept talking, his eyes shining in amusement at Josuke’s confused expression. “My house is five minutes from here, if you want, you can stay until the rain ends.” Josuke focused his attention on Kira again, he briefly wondered if the man was making fun of him but, even if Kira’s lips were twitching in a smile, his eyes made it clear that he was serious. He was tempted, if Josuke stayed outside any longer he knew he would have a cold for at least two weeks and being in a warm, dry house with comfortable clothes and maybe having a shower too was really something Josuke yearned for. Was Kira dangerous? Or was he just kind? Josuke didn’t know but he was willing to take the risk for a hot shower. “If I don’t disturb, I would like that, Kira-san!” Josuke timidly stepped under Kira’s umbrella even if, as he quickly noticed, only half of his body managed to fit and his other shoulder was hit by the pouring rain. Cold wind made his entire being shudder and bit the inside of his cheek to force his teeth to not clatter. Kira kept his gaze on him, waiting patiently to Josuke to adjust and Josuke was grateful that he didn’t say anything to him. He didn’t trust his own voice, his throat was dry and he hid his cold neck under the thin layer of his uniform. It wasn’t much, but that was all he could do for now. Josuke nodded at Kira and the man began to walk towards their destination, his hand steady wrapped around handle of the umbrella. Josuke noticed how Kira’s steps seemed to be slower than before, his peace matching perfectly Josuke’s. The boy’s cheeks coloured in a deep red when he realized that Kira had slowed down for him and that made his heart throb in a pleasant way. He had never met someone as gentle as Kira and it felt good being treated well by someone without being asked anything in exchange. Josuke’s shoulder bumped against Kira and he only needed to shift his eyes on the other man to see the soaked stain that had formed on Kira’s suit. Josuke took an instinctively step back but when the cold rain hit his naked nape, he quickly scrambled under the umbrella again, nearly throwing himself at Kira. Even in that icy weather, Josuke’s cheeks felt like they were on fire and he wanted to punch himself with Crazy Diamond for how stupid he must have looked in front of the older man. “I-I’m sorry, Kira-san, I’ve wetted your suit…” Josuke apologized, bowing his head to hide his utter shame. He was tired, embarrassed and it seemed like anything he did ended up terribly. What a horrible day had been for him. “Don’t worry about this, Josuke-kun, we’re nearly at home.” Kira’s voice shooted some of Josuke’s worries and he lifted his head again to keep walking. He didn’t know how Kira did that, but he seemed to have the power to make everyone at their ease. Maybe he had Stand? Josuke nearly chuckled aloud for that stupid thought. Yeah, like everyone he knew had a Stand, what now? An alien? No more words were exchanged, they kept walking in utter silence, but it wasn’t awkward or embarrassing, Josuke actually felt good in Kira’s presence. Maybe it was because he finally found a normal person after all that mess with the Stands? Or was it because he thought that Kira’s features gave him a handsome look? Josuke couldn’t ponder on his thoughts much longer because Kira suddenly stopped in front of a big, traditional house, once of those Josuke had only seen in old movies. “We’re here.” Josuke’s jaw nearly hit the floor when Kira said those words like that fact was the most boring thing in the universe. Sure, Kira had struck him like a rich boy, but he had never imagined a house this big! Noticing Josuke’s surprise, Kira’s lips curled in a smile and fumbled with the keys to open the gates. “This is my family house, the Kira’s family had inherited it for generations.” There was a bit of pride in his voice and small smile ghosted on his lips. Josuke could only nod, not trusting his mouth to not say something stupid. The sound of the gates shutting down behind them was lost in the pouring rain. They walked fast towards the entrance, splashes of water wetting their expensive shoes. They stopped when they were under the wide roof, Kira carefully posed his umbrella in the old umbrella stand beside them and fumbled his keys to find the right one. Josuke wanted to scream at Kira to hurry up and unlock the door, he was freezing and he felt his thighs trembling in his pants. He wrapped his hands around his torso and rubbed them on his body, trying to create a bit of heat. Never in his life the clicking of a door being unlocked sounded sweet in his ears like it did in that moment and Josuke had to restrain himself to not run in the house. Kira entered and took of his shoes, urging Josuke to follow him with his stare and the boy didn’t let the other repeat himself. Once the door shut down behind him, a pleasant moan left Josuke’s lips that would normally make him embarrassed, but right now he didn’t care about anything. His skin shuddered in pleasure when warm air his his cold flesh, it felt so good to finally stop shivering after god knows how many minutes. Josuke took out his soaked shoes out of politeness, but even his socks were dripping water on the wooden floor. Josuke caught Kira’s stare, which was glued to the large puddle that was forming under the boy’s feet. Josuke felt his cheeks heating up at the intensity of those eyes on him, they didn’t make him feel uncomfortable, they just… unsettled him, it was difficult to know what Kira was thinking and his icy eyes didn’t help at all. “Sorry for this, Kira-san…” Josuke mumbled, casting his head down, his tussled hair falling in front of his face half-covering his bright eyes. Kira shaked his head and struggled off his jacket, hooking it under his arm. “Don’t worry, Josuke-kun, I’ll clean it, the bathroom is the third door down the hallway, please use what you like, I’ll bring you dry clothes in a minute.” “Ah, thank you Kira-san, I owe you.” Josuke grinned before hurriedly ran towards the bathroom. His clothes were sticking against his skin and were giving him an uncomfortable sensation, like he was suffocating. Josuke closed the bathroom door behind him and sighed in relief. He looked around himself and saw that the bathroom was… normal. There was a small tub, a shower and a sink. Nothing fancy, nothing strange, everything was perfectly clean and in place, not even a hair was seen anywhere. Was Kira a cleaning maniac? Well, even if he was, it wasn’t Josuke’s place to judge. He shrugged off his uniform, letting it fall on the floor with a small thud and quickly took off his pants, which were his most soaked cloth. Josuke’s body shuddered when warm heat hit his naked flesh. It felt good, but it wasn’t enough for his shivers to die down. He eyed the tub for a moment but then he went straightly for the shower. A bath seemed wonderful, but it would take too long to fill the tub and he was too impatient. Josuke opened the water tap and, while he waited for it to become hot enough for him, he rolled his underwear down his ankles. He leant one of his hand under the stream and lowly moaned when the warm water hit his skin. Josuke swiftly entered in the shower, closing the curtain behind him and let the stream hit his face. It was good, the water was rolling down his skin deliciously, healing his shivering flesh. Josuke wrapped his arms around himself and turned around so that also his back would warm up. He felt like he was in heaven, there was nothing better than a warm shower in this world. Well, maybe luxurious shoes were tying with it. Josuke spent some minutes just enjoying the hot stream, then his eyes caught Kira’s products on the shelf beside him and wrapped his fingers around one of the bottles. He snapped the cap open and inhaled slowly. “Ah… perfect.” Mint scented, one of his favourites. He guessed that Kira wasn’t really the type for something like “strawberry” or “peach” but that was perfectly fine, it gave him a more “masculine” scent. Josuke poured some of the liquid on his hand and started to rub it on his body, his nostrils filling with the pungent scent. He was going to enjoy this. ===============================================================================   Josuke may or may not had taken half an hour to finish his shower, but when he finally stopped the stream, he felt like being born again. Once his naked feet hit the cold floor, he suddenly wished to return in the shower again, but forced himself to be a man and keep going. He dried himself quickly, not wanting to create another puddle of water in Kira’s home and rubbed the towel against his hair, giving particular attention to the tips, even if they remained still damp. Josuke immediately noticed the dry clothes beside the sink and slowly walked towards them. There was everything he needed, a shirt, pants, a pair of socks and, surprising, even a pair of underwear. Josuke felt the tips of his ears heating up, but swallowed down his embarrassment and thanked Kira mentally for giving him something to cover himself up. The clothes… were tight, Josuke couldn’t lie, they didn’t fit him, but he wasn’t really surprised. He was bigger and more muscular than Kira, of course his clothes wouldn’t fit him perfectly. It wasn’t so bad though, at least he had managed to dress himself and they were uncomfortable only on his shoulders and his ass, but Josuke could live with that. He looked at his blurry reflection on the mirror, where steam because of the shower was still clinging at it. Josuke’s fingers combed his hair sloppily, he ran them between his wild locks in order to tame them, but without his hair gel it was proving to be a quite difficult task. “Fuck…” Josuke huffed and decided to comb them in a loose ponytail. He didn’t like it, but there wasn’t anything else he could do. Right after he went out the bathroom, his thoughts went to Kira. He had been really quiet when he had brought the clothes, Josuke hadn’t even noticed he had came in the bathroom, he hadn’t heard the door opening or closing. It was strange, but he quickly tossed away that thought. He had been probably enjoying his shower so much that all the other sounds except for the warm water hitting his skin were mute to his ears. Josuke looked around him. The house had nothing particular, it was one of these you see in a movie. There were a few tropes and some photos attached at the wall, but expect for that nothing stroke Josuke’s interest. He didn’t find a single thing that made him know something more of Kira, not a hobby or if there was someone’s special in his life. It was… empty. Josuke couldn’t find another word to describe that house, like no one lived there. And maybe it was that that fueled the fire in Josuke’s chest. He wished to solve the puzzle that Yoshikage Kira was, even if he still didn’t know how. A sweet scent caught his interest and Josuke’s feets turned towards that direction instinctively. He entered in a small kitchen where only the essential was present, the only thing that gave colour to that room was a little table with two chairs where a yellow cup was carefully posed. Kira was sitting down on one of the chairs and he seemed to be reading a newspaper while blowing the stream that was leaking from the cup in his hands. Josuke stepped closer, fidgeting in his clothes and kept his gaze steady on Kira’s figure, who looked relaxed and had his eyes glued to one of the articles. “Was the water enough?” Josuke nearly jumped when Kira opened his mouth to speak at him without lifting his gaze from the newspaper, seemingly really engrossed in his reading. “A-Ah… yes… thank you for letting me using it, Kira-san.” Josuke said, taking a seat beside Kira who finally decided to lift his gaze to meet the boy’s. Kira’s lips curled in a smile and Josuke suddenly felt the air in the room heating up. “That’s so? I’m glad.” Josuke coughed awkwardly and joined his hands together in his lap. He looked at the cup in front of him and kept shifting his gaze from it to Kira’s eyes, not knowing if it was alright for him to drink that. Noticing his inner struggle, Kira took a sip of his own hot drink and spoke. “It’s tea with honey, I hope you like it.” Josuke nodded a bit awkwardly then wrapped his fingers around the ceramic. He nearly dropped the cup when his fingertips burnt but he somehow managed to bring it to his lips and take a mouthful of tea. It was good, so, so good, the hot liquid ran down his tongue and the flavour of honey filled his mouth. Even if he wanted to gulp everything down, Josuke wanted to savour every single drop so he posed the cup on the table again. Kira followed his movements with his gaze, lingering on his hands for a moment. “Kira-san,” he called and the man’s eyes immediately snapped up on him. “Do you live alone? I mean… your parents aren’t here?” Kira closed the newspaper and took his cup between both of his hands, flickering his gaze on his reflection before turning it again towards Josuke. “No, they’re dead.” Josuke wanted to punch himself in the face for asking Kira such a delicate question. Of course they were dead and of course Josuke had to be curious. “I-I’m sorry…” He mumbled and casted his eyes down embarrassed. Nice, now the air was tense and awkward, great impression, Josuke. Kira shaked his head and took another sip of his tea. “Don’t be, it happened years ago.” Josuke didn’t know what else to say and gulped down another mouthful of tea, ignoring how his tongue stung because of the hot liquid. Now that he could, Josuke observed Kira’s hands, they were elegant and steady, but he didn’t wear any rings or bracelet, only a watch around his wrist that seemed very expensive. “Aren’t you married, Kira-san?” The question left Josuke’s lips before his brain even processed it and the boy felt himself flushing. Kira didn’t seem to notice - or he just plainly ignored it - Josuke’s embarrassment and replied to him without baiting an eye. “No, I’m single, I’ve had girlfriends but it never lasted long.” Josuke nodded, registering that piece of information for later use. So Kira wasn’t one for a long-lasting relationship? Josuke thought he had at least a girlfriend, he was handsome and had a nice personality, it wouldn’t be strange if girls flocked around him, maybe he hadn’t still found his match? It seemed that he had been staring at Kira for too long because the man tilted his head and furrowed his eyebrows at him. “Do I have something on my face?” Josuke snapped out his thoughts and counted how many meters were from there to the window for him to jump out. That was so embarrassing, why was he always like that? He had made a fool of himself once again in front of Kira. “N-No! I’m sorry, Kira-san!” Josuke started to blabber, moving his hands around him in nervousness. “I was just thinking you’re really nice and handsome! I’m surprised you don’t have a girlfriend! And- oh god, I’m making this awkward, aren’t I?” Josuke buried his face between his hands when Kira chuckled amused. Why couldn’t he shut his mouth for once? What had he done for being punished like this? He hoped the rain would stop soon so he could go back home and forget about all of this. “Don’t be embarrassed, Josuke-kun.” Josuke felt soft fingers lightly touching his shoulder like he was a precious doll and he finally decided to drop his hands. He nearly fell down the chair when he noticed howclose Kira’s face was to his. Their noses brushed against each other and Josuke could barely see anything else other than the man’s features. It wasn’t… a bad vision, it was really good. Josuke felt the knots in his stomach tighten. He noticed how some of Kira’s hair had fallen on his forehead and, instinctively, lifted one of his hands to tuck them under the man’s ear. It was something he always did with his mom when they watched a movie together on the couch and she fell asleep against his shoulder. Doing that to Kira, however, was more than embarrassing. Josuke thought that the man would have told him to stop, that it was creepy or something between those lines, he never imagined for Kira to close his eyes and lean his head against Josuke’s palm. Josuke stilled his hand for a second, unsure of what to do, but when Kira started to nuzzle his head against him, he hesitantly began to stroke the man’s hair. His fingers ran in Kira’s blond locks carefully, Josuke noticed how soft his hair was and bit his lower lip when Kira hummed in pleasure, the vibration of his voice gave him goosebumps. A warning bell went off in his head when a familiar heat polled in his stomach. “Kira-san.” Josuke called, his throat dry and his heart felt like it might explode in his chest. Kira’s eyes fluttered open and caught Josuke’s stare. Never in his life someone had looked at him with such an intensity, Josuke’s heart sweeled in pride and his guts twisted pleasantly. “You have… really beautiful hands, you know Josuke-kun?” Kira’s fingers wrapped themselves around Josuke’s wrist and brought it in front of Kira’s face. The man started to massage the knuckles and he looked like to be in trance, his stare glued to Josuke’s soft hands. The boy gulped, feeling his palms starting to sweat under all that attention. “I-Is that so? I’ve never really noticed…” Kira nodded, turning the hand to get a better look of the palm. “They are, I’ve never met a man with hands as beautiful as yours, I assure you.” Kira leaned closer to inspect Josuke’s palm and the boy had to refrain himself to not jump when he felt the man’s warm breath against his skin. Kira was looking at the lines of his palm while his fingers worked on his wrist to massage the soft flesh. Josuke had never thought that his hands could be worshipped so eagerly, but he was glad that Kira was doing it. Pleasant shivers ran down his spine and Josuke wished that Kira would never stop. He rubbed his thighs together when he felt his dick twitching in interest. He couldn’t help it, his heart was beating so fast he was sure even Kira could hear it from where he was. “Josuke-kun.” Kira’s voice called him softly and Josuke’s head snapped up. “You seem to be a little flustered, do you need help?” If it had been any other situation, Josuke would have thought Kira was kidding, but then he saw the redness that was covering his cheeks and swallowed heavily. Kira was older, more mature and he was sure it wouldn’t be okay if someone found them out. But… Josuke wanted to feel his skin against his, his mouth pressed on him and he yearned to hold Kira. It would be a secret only between the two of them. Josuke felt a shiver run down his spine. He nodded slowly, never leaving Kira’s eyes. The man in front of him smiled and stood up, helping Josuke do the same. His legs felt like jelly and his thighs were trembling in the thigh pants, but his determinate expression made up for them. “Come with me.” Never in his life such words sounded sweeter.
