Do- Over fiction (Kind of). Harry is Daphne. FemHarry in a way. Maybe Dark!HarryasDaphne, probably Grey!HarryasDaphne. Still- Slytherin!Daphne. HarryasDaphne/Lucius eventually. Notes Okay, so this crazy idea came to me this morning and I just couldn't resist writing it. In this story Harry is reborn three years after the final battle, but instead of being reborn as himself or in another time as someone else, he's reborn as Daphne Greengrass. No particular reason there except that she's a pureblood slytherin whose family remained neutral during the first war (and maybe the second too?) though she was still in Pansy Parkinson's clique at Hogwarts during Harry's years and of course her sister married Draco Malfoy so why not? I just thought that it would be cool to have Harry reborn but as someone else and not himself, with a version of himself still around and he trying to stop bad things from happening but as someone else it's more complicated (especially if that someone is a pureblood slytherin) and I thought it could be great fun. The great thing is that we don't know much about Daphne from Canon so I can be as creative as I want. Anyway, I imagine DaphneHarry as Ginta Lapina (though curvier in the chest department when she grows up). The pairing will be Lucius/ DaphneHarry. I've chosen Lucius because I think they could have an interesting dynamic. Harry knows stuff about Lucius and though he's not exactly Harry's favourite person, I think he understands him better now that he did when he was eleven so I think it would be interesting to see how a love story develops. Of course Lucius is married, things that complicate things even more, but I think that makes it even more interesting. Hope you like it. ***** Prologue *****   THROUGH_DAPHNE'S_EYES Prologue Harry opened his eyes slowly and realized immediately where he was. King's Cross or better, the empty, impossibly white King's Cross he had woken up in when he died before defeating Voldemort. Now here he was again, after only three years. He's almost relieved to be back here, finally able to join his parents and the people he loved. His life after Voldemort didn't go at all like he had expected. He broke up with Ginny after only one year, his job as an Auror consisted mostly of paperwork and following the Ministry's directions which he often didn't agree with and even his relationship with Ron and Hermione wasn't the same anymore after the two of them got married. He didn't begrudge them their happiness but he felt like a third wheel every time they were together and so he had started to avoid them. He spent most of his time alone now or with Neville and sometimes Luna. In short, he felt empty and unsatisfied with his life. Maybe that was why he had gotten careless lately while on raids – the few that he got to participate in. Maybe that was why a death eater that hadn't even been in the Inner Circle was able to get the best of him and kill him. Maybe he had simply stopped caring if he lived or died. Harry shook his head at those thoughts and got up, looking around himself. The place hadn't changed one bit since the last time he had been there but this time he was alone. There was no horcrux writhing on the ground or Dumbledore to greet him. There was only he and a train. Harry shrugged and figured that that was it, he was supposed to take the train. He started walking and got on the first coach he found in front of him. There was plenty of space since the train was empty. The train started moving as soon as he had sat down and Harry relaxed on the seat. Soon he his vision and all his body was enveloped in a blindingly white light and the surroundings disappeared. He couldn't even see where he was sitting anymore. He closed his eyes and felt himself lurching forward. Soon he felt like he was falling before being squeezed into a tube and then…cold hair that made him shiver. He tried to say something but his mouth didn't form words, only a loud screech and he realized he was crying, though he didn't understand why. He also felt weird, like he was really small. He tried to open his eyes but could barely see, everything was grey. What was going on? He realized then that someone was holding him in their arms and wondered how it was possible. It almost felt like…but no…was he…was he a baby? The answer came in the voice of a woman whose face he couldn't see. He heard her words perfectly though, even if he wished he didn't. "Welcome to the world Daphne Greengrass, my beautiful daughter." Well, shit. ***** Chapter 1 ***** Chapter 1 Being a newborn baby was weird and uncomfortable. All he…well, she actually though it was still extremely weird for Harry to get used to this fact – anyway, the point was, all she did was sleep, eat and poop. Unlike muggles, who used diapers for their children, magical people used special underwear that banished everything once it would get dirty, which was, at least, a relieve. Still, it was awful. Not only because she couldn't talk or barely move, and because she was forced to drink milk from a woman's breast, but also because she was extremely bored. The days passed slow and empty and Harry felt like she had ended up in hell after all. The only respite – if it could be called that – were the visits from people – beside her new parents – who at least were a break from the routine. Everyone who saw her would coo at her like she was some rare specimen and she felt a little like an animal in a zoo but it could have been worse, at least they weren't allowed to pick her up. Only her mother would do that and sometimes her father. Clementine Greengrass was a beautiful platinum blonde woman with sparkling blue eyes and a kind – though a little cold at the same time – face. Her father – Elmer Greengrass – was a stern man with dark hair and dark eyes though his expression would soften when looking at her. Harry still hadn't completely accepted the fact that he had ended up in Daphne Greengrass's body. She wondered how it was possible. Was it some sort of mistake? How come his soul didn't pass on once he died – the second time – but instead ended up here? And where was the real Daphne? Had he inadvertently kill her? The first few months he kept hoping that it had in fact been a mistake and that mistake would be rectified soon enough. But after weeks and weeks passing without a change he was forced to accept the fact that he was somehow stuck there. Once the desperation at the injustice of her situation started to fade, she started to see the good that could come out of it. She was in the past – her past – and though she wasn't Harry Potter anymore, she still knew what was going to happen. That meant that she could change things and save all those people that died because of Voldemort during the second wizarding war. Not only that, she knew about the Horcruxes and where they were, therefore she could destroy them much quicker. Some were pretty easy to get to like Slytherin Locket, the Ravenclaw Diadem or the Gaunt ring. The Diary was in Lucius Malfoy's possession but all she needed to do was wait for second year and let things happen exactly as they did before – after all Gryffindor sword and the basilisk fangs would be needed to destroy the horcruxes since Fiendfyre was too dangerous and unpredictable. The only problem would be Hufflepuff Cup but she had robbed Gringotts once before, she could probably do it twice. At two years old her mother gave birth to her sister Astoria who Harry remembered was the one who married Draco Malfoy after the war. Astoria was a weak and sick little thing and Harry learnt that it was because of the Blood malediction one of the female ancestors in her family had been cursed with and that had resurfaced on her. Astoria was also dark-haired and brown-eyed like their father which it seemed had somehow disappointed her mother. Clementine had in fact been ecstatic when Daphne had inherited her coloring and was hoping her second daughter would be the same. Harry had heard more than once how unusually beautiful she was for a child – Clementine said that she would grow up to be more beautiful than her – and it seemed that both her parents didn't miss any occasion to point out how the beauty that should have been divided equally between both sisters had somehow missed Astoria completely and had instead went all to her older sister. Harry didn't agree. Astoria was really pretty but her beauty was unfortunately marred by her pale and sick-looking appearance. Both Clementine and Elmer had an evident preference towards her which made Harry (Daphne) extremely uncomfortable. Daphne knew that it wasn't all due to her physical appearance or Astoria's sick constitution. It was also because her parents were convinced she was some sort of prodigy. As soon as her body had started to develop more in fact, she had forced herself to relearn how to walk and talk as quickly as possible because she couldn't stand not to be in control of her own body anymore. At three years old she convinced her parents that she wanted to 'learn' how to read and at four she was already going through the books in the gigantic library in the Greengrass Manor. Her new parents were filthy rich, probably not as rich as the Malfoys but pretty close. They were pureblooded aristocrats who of course bought the whole 'muggle and muggleborns are scum while the pureblood are awesome and the only ones worthy of having magic' thing. Still, they were less extremist than – let's say – the Blacks, reason why they hadn't sided with Voldemort during the first War but had remained neutral. They didn't approve of the violence and the raids against muggles that risked exposing them. Harry took full opportunity of this second chance she had been given to learn everything she could get her hands on. She wouldn't make the same mistake again, she would be prepared this time so that she wouldn't be useless when she would have to face deatheaters or Voldemort himself this time around. At six years old she convinced her parents that she wanted to learn magic. Though pureblood children were usually taught before Hogwarts they wouldn't learn much more than theory and a bit about potions. After all, no child was allowed a wand before their eleventh birthday. Daphne though asked her parents to be allowed to use a wand – one of the old wands they kept that belonged to their ancestors – and learn some spells because 'she wanted to be the best student Hogwarts had ever seen'. Daphne knew that her parents appreciated ambition – one of Slytherin's traits – and therefore she knew that if she showed them how 'ambitious' she was they would grant her request. Learning spells she had already learned in her old life proved to be both easy and difficult. Easy because it looked like it wasn't only Harry Potter's soul that moved into Daphne's body but also her magical core which had been rather impressive to begin with, in addition to Daphne's own magical core – that wasn't as impressive as Snape's or Mcgonagall's but still more powerful than normal –. This probably made her as powerful as Dumbledore and Voldemort if not a little more. The difficult part stemmed from the fact that her body was still developing and therefore her magical core as well. Still, it was better this way because her parents would have probably started to be more suspicious than amazed if she had learned those spells on the first try. Instead it took at least six or seven tries before she could learn spells such as alohomora, lumos or wingardium leviosa. Another thing she practiced was wandless magic. She knew it was possible because Voldemort was able to control his own accidental magic though it was because Voldemort was more powerful that practically everybody else on the planet. Still, she had a huge magical core now, almost double the one she had in her old life so she was rather sure she could succeed. It took a lot of energy but she learnt to move objects without touching them, opening locked doors without uttering a single spell, change the color and size of things, make flowers bloom like her mother had done in Snape's memory, levitate in the air a little (she wondered if she would be able to fly like Voldemort and Snape were able to with a little practice), break and repair things, light candles and summon a ball of light in her palm. It was rather exhilarating though it was little more than parlor tricks. She hoped once she would get older she would be able to do more. The years before Hogwarts once she started practice magic passed rather quickly. Her father taught her potions as well and though she still wasn't a natural at it, she was still much better than she was before and since Snape had no reason to hate her this time around because she wasn'tHarry Potter, she hoped she would be able to actually learn from him and who knows, maybe even earn an O in her NEWTS. And talking about the actual Harry, every time she thought about the fact that she would actually meet…well, himself, her mind shut down because it was too weird to contemplate. It was the reason why she had started to think of herself as Daphne because otherwise she was afraid she would go mad. She also got to meet little Draco, Pansy Parkinson, Blaise Zabini, Crabbe and Goyle and Millicent Bullstrode. It was weird because they were so young but also kind of refreshing. Draco was still the usual arrogant little prick but Daphne had gotten used to him over the years and she was surprised to find he was rather witty and funny once you actually get to know him. Pansy was stuck- up and arrogant but she could be sweet and kind as well with a strange mother- en streak. Blaise was charming and handsome even at such a young age though cold and egotistic as well. Millicent was rather shy and withdrawn but also smart while Crabbe and Goyle were dumb sheep like they had always been. Of course all of them talked like their parents about the importance of keeping the blood pure etc and even if Daphne still thought it was all crap, she bit her tongue and kept silent. It was important that everyone thought she was the perfect pureblood child and that she kept these children as friends. At Hogwarts she would make sure things would change but it would take a while. In the meantime, her first goal was to befriend Harry Potter on the Hogwarts train. Please drop_by_the_archive_and_comment to let the author know if you enjoyed their work!
