But the Avatar changed drastically, and suffered under an old enemy. Asami walked through the busy streets of Republic City, looking for some groceries, when she randomly crossed paths with her long time friend Opal Bei Fong. They didn't saw each other for months now, and it is even more surprising for her to meet her in Republic City. She lived normally in Zaofu together with her husband, and Asami's friend Bolin. Asami began to wave at her, to get noticed by the other girl, who did it after a moment. The two friends walked upon each other, gave each other a small hug, and began to talk. "Hello, Opal, I didn't expect to see you here. What brings you to Republic City?" "Your birthday is in three days, we came to surprise you. It didn't work out that well though.", Opal giggled slightly. "Yeah, looks like it." "How's Korra? And your son, Hakoda?" "Hakoda is fine, wild and crazy as always, but Korra is... Well, she changed a bit." "In which way?" "I don't know. She became more quit, and in the night, she often stands up, and goes into the bathroom, where I hear her screaming and crying. And on the next day, she can't remember anything." "Ouh. Maybe nightmares?" "From what? She hadn't anything like this for three years, and suddenly she get's those nightmares again? Sounds crazy." "I know. Maybe you should visit a healer." "Maybe. But other topic, how's Bolin? And your daughter Yin?" "Both are great, we've settled down in a hotel in downtown." "Alright, maybe I'll come and see you tomorrow or so, but I need to get home now, bye Opal." "Bye, Asami." Asami walked back home to the Sato mansion, where Korra, and her son awaited her. She opened the door, and Hakoda instantly ran to her, and hugged her. "Mama, you're back! Did you bring something for me?" "No, Hakoda, I'm sorry. I just bought some food. How's mom?" "Don't good, she lies in bed all day, and says, that she has a headict." "Oh, alright. I'll look after her. Can you bring this into the kitchen? Just lay it down on the table, I'll sort it later." "Of course, can I go play with my friends after that?" "Sure, but be home at 8, alright?" "Ok! Thanks mom!" Hakoda ran into the kitchen with the bag full of groceries, and left the building shortly after that. Asami walked into the bedroom, and found Korra leaning against a wall, soaked in sweat, and heavy breathing. "Spirits, Korra!" Asami ran to her, but was rejected by her girlfriend immediately. "Everything's fine. I'm good. Just a small headict." "It doesn't look like a simple headict, Korra. You need to go to a healer, now." "No... I'm fine- Ahhhh!" Korra screamed, stumbled back from the wall, and fell to the ground. She wind herself around, and screamed uncontrollably. Even though the Avatar covered her eyes with her hands, Asami could see, how they flickered strongly. Korra screamed louder, held her head, and winded herself around. "Please, stop!! Make it stop!" She screamed in her pain, until, out of nowhere, she stopped. The water tribe girl spread her arms and legs away from her, and looked to the ceiling, with glowing, red eyes. "Korra...?", asked Asami whispering, but she gave no answer. Korra stood up, and looked at her girlfriend, with those red glowing eyes. She walked upon Asami, with an movement, that remembered to an undead. Korra and punched her right hand against Asami's throat, and lifted her up in the air, so that she couldn't breath at all. Korras nails dug into Asamis soft skin, and penetrated it moments later. Small lines of blood were running down her throat, and with her last breath, she managed to bring out only one word. "Korra..." The Avatar knocked Asami against the wall, still choking, and answered in a very deep voice, that wasn't Korra's anymore. "Avatar Korra is no more. I have control over her body, now. Say goodbye to her!" "Vaatu? But how... She destroyed you..." "In every light, there's always dark. I took my chance, when I got it, Raava is finally gone. I created finally the dark Avatar." She pressed against Asami's throat even harder, and she began to squeak. Her head began to turn red, and she almost passed out, when the door opened. "Mom, I wanted to ask you if-" "Hakoda... Run!...", Asami had a hard time, to squeak out those two words. "Mom!" Korra turned around, letting Asami fall, and bend a fireball in Hakoda's direction. He could barely dodge it, and ran away. The kid bursts open the front door, and ran into Opal and Bolin, who wanted to visit Korra and Asami. "Hakoda, my boy! What's up?" "Run!" "Wait a minute, what is it?" "Mama has completely gone crazy!" "What do you mean?" But before Hakoda could answer, stood Korra in the door, and looked at them with her intimidating red glowing eyes. Bolin asked carefully. "Uhm, Korra, is.. Is everything alright?" She didn't answer. Korra just attacked straight away. She bend the metal from Opal's dress, into a dagger, for her, and impaled Bolin with it, who wasn't expecting this. Korra began to heat the metal blade up with fire bending, so that it burned his insides. Blood dropped to the ground and Opal was shocked, when she saw, how her husband was killed just like that, but knew, she couldn't do anything anymore. Bolin said his last words with his last breath. "Opal... I... I... Love... You... Run..." Then Korra pulled out the dagger, and the dead body of Bolin fell to the ground. Opal took Hakoda by her hand, and ran away, but wasn't fast enough to outrun Korra. The Avatar bend a solid earth wall in front and to the side of them, blocking all of their possible escape routes. They turned around, and saw Korra standing there. Looking at them. Opal moved Hakoda behind her, and readied herself to attack, but Korra was faster. She bend an large sinkhole, in which Opal fell into. The water tribe girl closed the hole, tightly, and Hakoda could only hear Opals desperate screams, which slowly went silent. Asami stumbled out of the door of the mansion, holding her throat, and saw what was happening outside. She saw the body of Bolin before her, and Korra with Hakoda a couple feet away. She didn't trust her eyes, of what she witnessed. Korra moved her hands slowly around, and formed a air bubble around Hakoda's head. Asami knew what was about to happen, but couldn't do anything against it. She could just watch, how her child was strangled by her girlfriend, and hear the last words of him. "Mama... Why?..." He finally fell motionless to the ground, after the act was finished. "Pesky kid.", Korra said. She turned around to Asami, and ran to her shocked girlfriend. They stood against each other, looking each other deeply in the eyes. Asami felt, how tears rolled down her cheeks, and the glowing blade inside of her stomach, that slowly bend it's way through her muscles, bones and organs. The shocked non bender, looked at Korra with tears in her eyes. "Korra... I know you're somewhere in there. I know it." "She's dead. Like you." "And I want you to know, that I still love you. It wasn't you, who did this. I know that. I love you, Korra. Forever." "Shut up!" Korra moved the blade upwards, and cut through Asami's flesh. The blood ran out of her like a river, and the further Korra cut, the more blood it was. Asami fell to the ground, and her eyes shut. Korra, the real Korra, looked at the bodies, and her hands, and cried inside. She had noticed anything, that happened. She just couldn't control herself. Vaatu had took over her entire body, and had reached his goal. He had created, the Dark Avatar.   Please drop_by_the_archive_and_comment to let the author know if you enjoyed their work!
