Notes See the end of the work for notes Katsuki’s first memory of meeting Deku is a bit hazy, but he definitely remembers it involving his Quirk. He’d been sat by the stream near his house, the soothing sound of trickling water crystal clear in his mind. He’d been playing alone that day because Satoshi was visiting his grandparents, and Takeshi and Kento had both come down with a bout of the chickenpox. Katsuki had already suffered through that ordeal earlier on in the year, and so he’s immune against it now. Still, his mum for some reason doesn’t want him playing with them they’re ill, so he’s essentially forced to play in isolation. It’s fine, Katsuki tells himself as he holds up his palms some width apart. He can entertain himself. It’s not like he needs anyone else to have fun. His little forehead scrunches up and his tongue sticks out of his mouth as he concentrates on his hands, trying his hardest to get some explosions going. His Quirk had developed a few months back, but the newness hadn’t worn off. Katsuki’s brows deepen, beads of sweat trickling down the side of his temple. Finally, the sound of crackling sparks join that of the stream, and Katsuki watches in awe as tiny flashes of fire break out from his palms. Once they die out he shrieks with glee, clapping his hands together. “That’s so cool!” A voice exclaims, but not Katsuki’s own. He halts his self- applause and turns to the source. He finds it in the form of a small boy about his size with bushy green hair and even greener eyes staring in his direction. The boy looks as if he’s just emerged from some bushes, his clothes askew and his hair such a mess it would be an insult to call it a bird’s nest. “How did you do that?” The boy asks, ambling forward. Katsuki instantly gets to his feet, suddenly on guard. “Who are you?” The boy comes to a stop a few steps away from Katsuki, grinning from ear to ear. “So cool.” He repeats. “How did you do that? Is that your Quirk?” Katsuki blinks at the boy, a feeling of pride growing deep in his chest. He absolutely loves it when someone takes an interest in his Quirk, and so he ignores every warning of ‘stranger danger’ his mum has tried to instil into him since he was able to walk. Besides, this kid doesn’t look like he could hurt a fly if a whole swarm of them attacked him. “Yep!” Katsuki grins widely, placing his fists on his hips. “It’s an Explosion Quirk.” The other kid’s mouth drops open, eyes twinkling with unadulterated excitement. His tiny hands grip at his own shirt as they start to shake. “That’s so, so cool!” “I know.” Katsuki agrees, like the very humble boy he is. * The first time Katsuki gets invited to Deku’s house is when Deku wants to show him his new All Might trading cards his mum had bought him. Katsuki had refused to admit he was jealous, but he wasn’t going to pass up on the opportunity to see the cards up close and in person. He’d only seen images of them on adverts plastered outside the sweet shops, but they cost an arm and a leg to buy. And Katsuki, at the prime age of four and with a total of some lint and two buttons in his pockets, absolutely could not afford the trading cards. Katsuki catches sight of Deku’s family name’s sign as they enter their compound, but because he’s only four and can’t read very well despite being ahead of his peers, he misreads ‘Izuku’ as ‘Deku’. Deku wails at him that that’s not how it’s pronounced, but Katsuki is firm in his decision that because that’s how he read it, that’s how it’s pronounced, and so he resolutely sticks to his decision. This isn’t the first instance Katsuki’s pride and stubbornness has caused him to make some foolish decisions, and it certainly won’t be the last. The first thing that strikes Katsuki upon entering the Izuku household is how spacious it was while being simultaneously messy. Scratch that, the living room is messy, but he can infer from the blanket and Pro-Hero magazine mountains around it that Deku is entirely the cause. Deku’s mum greets them as soon as they begin removing their shoes, and damn, if she doesn’t look like an exact copy of Deku. Or Deku of his mum. Both. Whatever. All he knows is that they’re definitely related. Deku’s mum kindly tells them she’ll be making hamburger steaks for dinner and both Deku and Katsuki thank her for it. Usually Katsuki wouldn’t bother, but he really fucking loves hamburger steak, and it can’t hurt to be polite in order to get some extra food. He manages to glance around the home as Deku leads him to his room, excitedly prattling on about the trading cards. There are some decorations spread around and the odd photo frame here and there, though strangely enough the photos seem to only show photos of Deku and his mum. Once inside Deku immediately runs to his bookshelf, chattering a mile a minute as he frantically pulls out a box from between his many Pro-Hero magazines (seriously, how many does he have? Can he even read or does he just look at the pictures?). Katsuki, however, has caught something else on Deku’s nightstand. Frowning, he points at it. “Whassat?” Deku follows the direction of his finger and beams. “That’s a photo of me and my mum! It’s when we went to the zoo and saw the penguins, but we didn’t get any photos of the penguins because they kept hiding.” Deku’s tone is oddly proud, and Katsuki thinks that’s a weird thing to be proud about. If he’d gone to the zoo he was sure he’d have managed to get a photo of the penguins. He’d yell them out of hiding if he had to. Katsuki looks over the other photos. “It’s all of your mum.” Deku nods with a smile. Katsuki scowls and turns to the boy. “Where’s your dad?” Deku’s smile slips off his lips and he looks confused. He scratches at his chest and shakes his head, green curls shaking. “I don’t know.” “You don’t know?” Katsuki repeats incredulously. Deku gives a nod. It’s suspicious. Too suspicious for Katsuki’s liking. He makes this known by crossing his arms across his chest and letting out a huff. “That’s stupid.” Deku tilts his head to the side like he’s not following. The idiot. “How can you not have a dad?” Katsuki pushes. “I don’t know.” Deku says again, this time more unsure. His brows knit together in worry. “How were you made? You have to have a mum and a dad to be made.” Katsuki argues. “Well,” Deku starts, avoiding Katsuki’s gaze. “Maybe I had one, but then he disappeared.” Katsuki opens his mouth to counter Deku’s point, but suddenly shuts it. He has a vague memory of his mum explaining family dynamics to him when he’d asked about why grandma grew up without a mum or a dad. Sometimes there was a mum and a dad, sometimes there was a mum and a mum, or a dad and a dad, and sometimes there was only a mum or a dad alone, or none at all. He remembered her voice softening towards the end, sounding very much unlike the mum he knew who spoke in sharp tones. When Katsuki had chanced a glance at her she’d looked kind of sad, and it had made him uncomfortable because he’d never seen his mum sad before. Katsuki clears his throat, suddenly sheepish. “Actually, maybe it’s possible to have just a mum. My grandma didn’t have one when she was little.” Deku’s eyes catch on his. “She only had a dad?” Katsuki shakes his head. “She had no one.” “Oh.” The brightness in Deku’s green eyes diminishes. “That’s sad.” Secretly Katsuki agrees, but aloud he scoffs. “It’s fine. She’s got us now.” The words seem to be the right thing to say, because Deku’s lips quirk up into a smile once more. “She’s lucky!” Katsuki preens at the words, chest puffing out. “Of course. We’re the best family. Now where are those trading cards you were gonna show me?” * The first time Deku comes over to his house his mum stares at him like she’s trying to solve a very difficult equation. “What’s this?” She asks, motioning at Deku who is now trying to hide himself behind Katsuki while simultaneously introducing himself. “H-h-hello, Mrs. B-Bakugou. My name is Izu-zuku Midoriya. Nice to meet y-you.” His mum’s eyebrows shoot up high on her forehead. Katsuki barely manages to suppress the growl working its way up his throat. She’s so embarrassing. So he’s never brought any of his friends home before, she doesn’t have to be so obvious about it. The only reason he hasn’t done it is because his parents mum is too loud and angry that she’d end up scaring away anyone he invites over. The only reason he’s even invited Deku to his house now is because Deku’s mum was going to be home an hour later than usual due to a dentist appointment, and so Deku was instructed to stay at school an extra hour after classes were over. Katsuki found that absolutely ridiculous. He couldn’t just leave Deku there on his own. The nerd had said he was gonna sit on a bench and just wait. Who the fuck just sits on a bench and waits for an hour? The very notion pisses Katsuki off. His mum places her hands on her hips, grinning widely. “Well, whatever it is, I like it. Hello, Izuku! My name is Bakugou Mitsuki, and it’s nice to meet you too.” Deku manages to send a wobbly smile her way, and her grin stretches even wider. Goddamn it, Katsuki thinks. * The first fight he and Deku have is over something completely miniscule and not important at all. Or at least, Katsuki doesn’t think it’s important. All he’d done was try and show Deku how to punch properly. Lately a lot of kids in their grade and beyond had been making fun of Deku, and Deku, being the useless Deku that he was, hadn’t done a single thing about it. It pissed Katsuki off and he’d decided to take matters into his own hands. He couldn’t always be there to protect Deku, so he’d do the next best thing and entrust his amazing fighting skills onto his friend. If only Deku would fucking learn. “Ow, Kacchan, it hurts!” He wails, hugging his hand close to his chest. Katsuki growls. “You’re not holding your hand correctly!” “Because you keep punching it!” “I’m trying to teach you how to throw a punch the right way!” “I don’t want to learn how!” Deku sniffles, the sides of his mouth quivering. Shit. He’s about to bawl big time, Katsuki can tell. That frustrates him even more. “I’m just trying to help.” He spits out, fists at his side. “Why are you being so stubborn about it?” “I don’t see why I have to learn how to punch when no one has punched me.” He argues weakly. “It’s just insults.” And that, god damn it, that pisses him off more than anything. His eyes are blazing red as he yells, “They will punch you, they’ll punch you soon enough! Because you’re weak, and you’re useless, and you can’t fight for shit! They know it, and they’ll come after you, and what’re you gonna do? Nothing! Because you refuse to learn, you fucking idiot!” He’s panting by the end of it, ire coursing through his veins as he stares Deku down. The boy is stunned into silence, frozen on the spot. Several seconds of nothing but Katsuki’s heavy panting fills up the silence before Deku’s brows furrow further and his bottom lip juts out. It starts shaking, and Katsuki’s eyes widen. Fuck, fuck. “Kacchan, you meanie!” Deku shouts and turns on his heel, racing away from him. It takes Katsuki a moment to realise what’s just happened, but once he does he’s hot in pursuit. “Deku, wait!” Age five is a very young age to know one’s royally fucked up, but Katsuki has always been an early bloomer. * Their first make up comes quickly after their first fight. Katsuki manages to catch up to Deku (because he’s fucking amazing, thank you) and wrestles the boy into his arms. Deku struggles at first, but when Katsuki starts repeating ‘I’m sorry’ like a mantra into his ear, he slumps into the other’s arms. He’s still shaking, and Katsuki can feel the wet tears staining his shirt. It’s disgusting, but right now he ignores it in favour of comforting Deku. He pets his hair and keeps up his litany of apologies until eventually Deku’s sobs dry out. He pulls himself out of Katsuki’s embrace, sniffling as he does so. His face is a mess, all blotch-red and covered in snot, but he’s not crying anymore which is good. Katsuki awkwardly pats Deku’s head, brushing his fringe out of his face. “’m sorry.” He says again. Deku rubs at his nose and gives a sharp nod. Seems he’s not ready to talk yet. Katsuki doesn’t hold it against him, just holds his hand out. “You wanna go home?” Deku gives a small nod and accepts Katsuki’s hand. It’s sticky, and Katsuki doesn’t want to imagine what kind of fluids it’s caked in. No, instead he straightens up and leads Deku back to his house, keeping up a steady, one-sided conversation of what he thinks starting school next year will be like. * The first fight Katsuki gets into for Deku (and he knew it, he goddamn knew it would happen) is because some kids from a year above start shoving Deku around in the playground. It’s been revealed that Deku doesn’t have a quirk, never will have one, and it’s all because of some bone in his foot. Katsuki thinks it’s dumb, but it completely destroys Deku, and he just sits stationary on the playground as the bullies circle him, spitting out nasty insults. They call him ‘quirkless’, ‘useless’, ‘waste of space’, and Deku obviously doesn’t fight back because he’s already broken. But the bullies’ words ignite a roaring flame of anger within Katsuki, and he rushes at them with both exploding palms out and a maniacal yell. Just because Deku won’t fight back doesn’t mean Katsuki won’t on his behalf, and he’s going in for the kill. He gets suspended, obviously, but it’s kind of worth it when Deku hugs him before his mum picks him up, uttering a shaky ‘thank you’. * Weirdly enough, Deku is present during the first confession Katsuki receives. They’re in middle school now, ten years old and still friends, though Deku has lost some of his weak-willed personality. Katsuki approves. The guy can banter back now, and even though it’s not as good as Katsuki, it’s better than nothing. The two of them are heading home from school as usual when a girl intercepts them. She’s got brown hair up in a ponytail and wearing another school’s uniform. “Um, Bakugou?” She begins, smiling nervously. “Do you mind if I could speak with you in private?” Katsuki’s eyes flick to the side where Deku is looking on curiously. His gaze returns to the girl. “Yes.” The girl beams. “I mind very much.” He adds on. The girl’s smile drops. “O-oh.” “Whatever you need to speak to me about you can say in front of Deku.” Deku turns to him sharply. “K-Kacchan, that’s not necessary—“ “Shut up, Deku.” Katsuki cuts off. “She either tells the both of us or none of us. Those’re the only options.” Deku winces. “Kacchan…” “Oh, um…” The girl murmurs, looking between the two with rapidly staining cheeks. “What?” Katsuki barks, turning to Deku. “You scared of girls or something?” “That’s not it— Kacchan, we’re in a class full of girls, why would I be scared?” Katsuki shrugs half-heartedly. “Dunno. You’ve always been weird.” “Just— I’ll leave you two to it.” He says, shooting the girls a reassuring smile. She brightens at the gesture, and that sets off alarm bells in Katsuki’s head. Just as Deku is about to leave Katsuki grabs his arm. “Hold up. Where do you think you’re going?” “Home?” Deku says it like a question, which irritates Katsuki further. “Why?” He demands. “Because I live there.” Katsuki rolls his eyes. “No shit, you live there. We’ll go together.” “I-I don’t think—“ Deku splutters, but Katsuki has already let go of his arm and turned to face the girl once more. “Alright, catch you never, what’s-your-face.” “Kacchan!” Izuku explodes, and Katsuki actually startles at the outburst. He stares at the green-haired boy who is now stood with his hands on his hips. So like his mum, shit. “Would you please just listen to her?” Katsuki scowls. “Why?” “I…” Deku begins, then falters. He looks perturbed, his frown wavering. His eyes dart over to the girl who is still waiting, and Katsuki finds he doesn’t like that at all. His eyes narrow. “What? Spit it out.” Deku heaves a sigh and leans in close to Katsuki, a blush coming over his features. Katsuki quickly thinks it’s rather fetching before he’s leaning in himself to meet Deku halfway. In a whisper, as if sharing a secret, Deku reveals, “I think she’s trying to confess to you.” A long, drawn-out moment of silence drops over them. He doesn’t recall the memory very well, but he swears the wind was laughing at them. Finally Katsuki manages to pull himself together enough to be coherent. “Hah?” He whips around to the girl who jumps at the loud exclamation. “You trynna confess to me?” He must hit the nail on the head because she turns beet-red and avoids his gaze. “Y-Yes…” What the fuck. A confession? From a girl? Katsuki furiously shakes his head. “Forget it. I don’t want it.” With those final words he turns on his heel and heads in the direction of his home, leaving both Deku and the girl in his wake. He’s walking faster than usual, refusing to admit to even himself that the interaction had panicked him slightly. His heart’s beating faster than usual, and he doesn’t understand why. Is he scared? Nah, Katsuki Bakugou doesn’t get scared, that’s just not a thing that happens. Was he happy? Definitely not. He can’t even remember what the girl’s face looks like, that’s how insignificant she was to him. Then what? What was he? Why was he— ugh. Katsuki hurries his steps, hoping that’ll somehow help him outrun his thoughts. He hears footsteps closing in from behind, and turns to see Deku coming to a stop beside him. He’s breathing heavily, glaring at Katsuki through his green fringe. “What on Earth, Kacchan? Why’d you just leave like that?” “Conversation was over.” Katsuki grunts, averting his gaze. “She was crying.” Deku says, disappointment evident in his tone. “Not my problem.” “You think?” Deku spits out. When Katsuki resolutely doesn’t reply he lets out a huff and hoists his backpack up further. “That was mean, Kacchan.” “So?” “So next time you should let them down more gently. It’s hard confessing to someone you like, and even harder to have your feelings be rejected.” Katsuki places a hand over Deku’s chest. “Hang on. What do you mean ‘next time’? Did you tell her to try again?” “N-no!” Deku denies instantly, holding his hands up in a placating manner. “I just quickly apologised and told her she could do better—“ “You said what?” “—but you know there’s going to be more people who’ll confess to you, right? I mean around now is the time a lot of people discover their romantic feelings.” “Wrong.” Katsuki interrupts. “Puberty is when people discover their romantic feelings.” Deku frowns. “Are you telling me you haven’t experienced any feelings of love yet?” “Nah.” Katsuki says easily. He looks to Deku. “Have you?” A faint blush rises on Deku’s cheeks. Katsuki quirks a brow. “What the fuck?” “I haven’t.” Deku murmurs, looking down at his shoes as they begin walking again. They’re obscenely red and the nerd doesn’t wear any other shoes but them. Katsuki spares a quick thought as to why, it’s not like Deku’s family is poor or anything. “I’m just confused. Figuring out this whole feelings thing is difficult.” Katsuki hums. “That’s why I avoid it completely.” Deku chuckles. “You gonna do that forever?” Katsuki ponders the question for a moment. “Ask me again when I hit puberty.” * The first time Katsuki realises he has non-platonic emotions towards Deku is when he’s just hit puberty. He’s all skinny and gangly, there’s hair popping up on odd patches of his body, and his voice seems to be in a state of perpetual breakage which has his mum howling with laughter. Really, he’s not doing so fresh at the prime age of fourteen, and so he just shoves this newfound realisation and emotions deep down to add to the Molotov cocktail he’s already got brewing, then goes home and burns a bunch of old books until his mum yells at him to ‘stop his Fahrenheit 451 bullshit before he starts an actual house fire’. * The first time Katsuki witnesses first hand that Deku most definitely is not ‘quirkless’ is during the entrance exam at UA. It’s a sight that’ll be ingrained into Katsuki’s memories for the rest of his life. Deku… His power is insane. It’s large, and bright, and almost destroys Deku’s own body when he uses it. Katsuki can’t wrap his head around it. He’s torn between joy, wonder, and bitter anger. He and Deku have been friends for as long as he can remember, they tell each other everything. Well, barring on any romantic and sexual interests in the other, but that’s just to preserve their friendship and not make it weird or anything. The matter still stands that Katsuki doesn’t know how to feel about the revelation that Deku has a Quirk. He’s happy because Deku had always been in awe over Katsuki’s own Quirk, and always wished deeply, more than anything else in the world, that he could have a Quirk too. He’s astonished because this… this power isn’t small. It’s not like being able to heat up a cup of tea by touching it, or having webbed feet and webbed feet only; no, this power is much bigger than that. It’s mighty, forceful, and all those things he’d never associate with Deku as a person, but definitely Deku in spirit and mind. He’s also fucking pissed because how dare Deku keep this from him. * Katsuki’s first kiss also happens to be with Deku. It occurs before he’s even aware of it, and ends just as abruptly as it started. He and Deku had been killing time in town after school, not really wanting to go home yet and begin their homework for the day. It was true that the work at UA was gruesome, but what was worse than physical work was written work, and this week it seemed like every single teacher of theirs had a personal vendetta against their class with the amount of written work they’d been assigned. Katsuki heaves a sigh. He’s really dreading wrestling the heaps of papers weighing down his schoolbag. “You alright?” Deku asks, ignoring the green sneakers in the window in favour of checking on Katsuki. He’s got half a cracker hanging from his mouth, and it looks ridiculous. Katsuki tells him just that. “You look ridiculous.” “Well, sorry.” Deku says, munching up the remainder of the cracker. “This is the only face I’ve got.” Katsuki emits a deep, low grunt. “How unfortunate.” It’s really not. The years have added some muscles and height to Deku, but it’s not much. Katsuki still has a few centimetres on him, though it’s hard to tell with how Deku’s wild hair stretches in all directions. It’s dark and unruly, and Katsuki often gives in to his basic urges and runs his fingers through it. Deku will usually hum in pleasure, tilting his head further into Katsuki’s touch, and fuck if that doesn’t do things to him. Never mind the fact that Deku’s green eyes seem to have somehow gotten greener as they got older, but more freckles have appeared on his face, and even more on his body. Katsuki knows this because Deku is completely unabashed when it comes to changing in the locker rooms, and even though Katsuki is too, it’s somewhat more difficult to remain unruffled when his childhood friend and very serious crush undresses mere metres away. Basically, Katsuki is struggling like a motherfucker. Deku punches his arm lightly, lips curving up into a smile. “Piss off.” “Make me.” Katsuki counters, a hidden challenge in his tone. A challenge Deku immediately picks up on, his smile turning sharp. “Oh yeah?” Deku presses, pushing against Katsuki with his shoulder. “Oh yeah.” Katsuki returns, bringing his hands up to shove Deku away. The guy stumbles back a bit, but comes at Katsuki with renowned vigour. Their hands meet in the middle, fingers lacing tightly as they try to press the others wrists back. It used to be one of their favourite games as children, pushing their opponents’ hands so far back until their wrists ached and they begged for mercy. Deku’s hands are warm in his, and scarred. The sight bothers Katsuki, but he can’t exactly say anything about it since he also busts his own body till it almost breaks. They’re so not good at taking care of themselves. The push against his hands are strong, but Katsuki is stronger, and his strength has Deku faltering a bit. “Give up?” Katsuki asks with a smirk. Deku’s bright eyes jump to his. “Never.” The direct eye contact has Katsuki’s stomach flipping wildly, and he belatedly realises how close they’re standing. He immediately decides that he’s old and mature enough not to care if he loses against Deku, and so he weakens his wrists and allows the guy to tilt his hands back. “Ow.” He says in a monotone voice, releasing Deku’s hand and letting their fingers slip apart. “You win.” Clearly Deku doesn’t buy it because he raises an incredulous brow. “Really now?” “Yup.” Katsuki says, lazily looking around. Anywhere but at Deku. "It hurt." “Where?” “Uhh…” Katsuki glances down at his hands and holds up his left one. “This one, I guess.” Deku huffs out a laugh. “You guess?” With a shake of the head he reaches for Katsuki’s hand and presses a kiss to the knuckles. It’s something they used to do as kids whenever they hurt themselves, administering kisses left, right and centre after every fight, adventure or shenanigan they got into. But now, as teenagers, the gesture has a completely different meaning attached to it. At least to Katsuki. He swallows as Deku pulls back, not letting his exterior reflect the joyous yelling his interior is doing. Deku looks up at Katsuki through dark lashes, lips tilting up into a smile. “Better?” Katsuki wets his suddenly dry lips, and utters, “Gay.” The exclamation sits heavily between them. Deku hurriedly drops his hand and his face turns red, avoiding Katsuki’s gaze as he mumbles something about ‘sorry’ and ‘thought it was funny’. Katsuki inwardly curses his slip up, but is quickly distracted by the sight of Deku flushed and muttering under his breathe. It’s so goddamn endearing that before Katsuki realises what he’s doing, he’s leaned forward and pecked his childhood friend on the lips. It’s only when Katsuki pulls back and comprehends the searing flush on Deku’s face that he realises what he’s done. He’s internally screaming at himself for being a fucking idiot, but the voice is swiftly quenched when Deku begins stuttering. “Y-y-y-you…” He gathers himself and catches Katsuki’s eyes. “What d-did you do that for?” “Because I wanted to.” Katsuki says intelligently. Really, he’s proud of himself for even being coherent at this point. Deku’s mouth opens and closes in quick succession, making him look like a fish. A stupid, dumb fish Katsuki for some reason still wants to kiss silly. Fuck, he fucked up. “Um.” “Is… Is that okay?” He asks, nerves shaking his thoughts. He’s not really sure what he’s doing, or what he should do, or if he should run far, far away and legally change his name to Kakugou Batsuki for the unforeseeable future. All those weird, insane options are silenced when Deku smiles at him sheepishly and scratches the back of his neck. “It’s… Yeah, it’s okay.” * Katsuki’s first date is with Deku (shocker), and it’s so simple and easy and great that he doesn’t know why he was ever nervous in the first place. It’s just Deku. Old, same, Deku who he’s known since they were in diapers and who always looks at him with bright eyes, a brighter grin, and all in all is the brightest thing Katsuki has ever encountered. Their first date goes brilliantly because it doesn’t break off from their usual plans, which involve either training together or playing video games at either his or Deku’s place. Obviously they have a meal beforehand (McDonald’s, like the classy pair they are) and because Katsuki is sometimes gentleman-y when he fancies himself to be, he offers to pay for both of their meals. Deku only agrees to it if he can buy the snacks for tonight when they attempt to play ‘Until Dawn’ until dawn, but Katsuki still feels oddly proud of himself over the gesture. They decide to play the game at Deku’s place because his mum is a heavy sleeper, so even if they make some noise while playing the video game they won’t get into trouble for it. They end up playing about mid-way through before Katsuki’s closeness and random touches throughout the night gets to Deku, and he tosses the controller to the floor in favour of tackling Katsuki to the ground. It’s fucking amazing, and it becomes even better when they spend the rest of the night necking and making out until they fall asleep right there on the floor, game still on and mocking them in the background. At least Katsuki had the good sense to drag down Deku’s duvet atop of them before drifting off to sleep. * The first time (but not the last time, somebody please kill him) All Might gives Katsuki the ‘treat Izuku well or else’ conversation he almost combusts right on the spot. When the No. 1 Hero and universal Symbol of Peace had asked to speak with Katsuki privately after his last lesson of the day, Katsuki had assumed it had to do with some serious business. Turns out it was, just not in the way he’d thought. It’s possibly the most mortifying experience of Katsuki’s life, having his childhood hero tell him to treat his childhood friend the way he deserves to be treated. He says possibly because there was that one time he accidentally ate an entire bag of prunes without knowing that their sole purpose was to expel everything in his body from all ends, but when All Might begins talking about how Deku is ‘a delicate little flower when it comes to emotions’ the moment immediately jumps to being the number one most mortifying experience of his life. Katsuki takes some small, small relief in the fact that he himself is not a delicate flower when it comes to emotions, but rather a cactus covered in pricks, with him being the biggest one. * The first time he and Deku have sex is in the middle of the night during their second year. Katsuki’s been ready to have sex for months, he really has, but Deku has been hesitant. Obviously Katsuki isn’t going to force him into something he doesn’t want, he’s not a monster, but honestly, it’s a struggle keeping his thoughts and hands from wandering. It’s not as if they haven’t done anything, because they have, it’s just that they’ve done pretty much everything but full-on, penetrative sex. And, Katsuki might sound like your average hot- blooded, hot-headed, teenage boy, but truth of the matter is he really, really, really wants to fuck Deku. Like, seriously. Every time he catches sight of the guy in class, doing something totally and utterly ordinary, he feels his stomach fluttering in adoration. It could be a ruffle of the hair, a bark of laughter, or just scratching his muscled thigh, but whatever it is it sets off something warm and affectionate in Katsuki, and he doesn’t know how to handle it at all. Part of him wants to hold Deku close and never let him go, another part wants to just idly lie with him as the world passes by, and another part, this new, growing side of him, wants to kiss the breathe out of Deku’s lungs and touch him all over until he’s a weeping, crying, shivering mess. Goddamn, he needs to chill the fuck out. So in summarisation, Katsuki is really fucking excited about eventually, hopefully, getting to bone Deku. Still, he’d be lying if he said he wasn’t nervous at the prospect of having sex. Katsuki has at least tried to be sensible about it and look up information online beforehand, focusing on information pertaining specifically to homosexual sex and relationships. He takes some comfort in the fact that he knows Deku’s doing his research too, and he only knows it because the guy’s got a brand new notebook with ‘XXX’ on the front of it (fucking hell, can the nerd at least try to be conspicuous with that shit?). Even though Katsuki is trying his hardest to approach this whole sex thing in a logical and understanding manner, it still doesn’t change the fact that he’s a teenage boy reaching the end of puberty, he has a boyfriend who he wants to possess to a disturbing degree, is explosive in more ways than one, and isn’t exactly known for his patience. For Deku though, he tries, he really does. That is until one late night when a knock at his door rouses him from his sleep. Katsuki originally plans on ignoring it and going the fuck back to sleep, but an incessant rapping starts up instead and he’s forced to pull himself away from his cocoon of warmth. He’s grumbling as he stumbles out of bed, swearing horrendous torture to whoever has dragged him from his sleep. He wrenches the door open with vigour, face contorted into an irritated snarl, but that promptly bleeds away as soon as he realises who is on the other side. “Hey.” Deku whispers, smiling shakily. His hair is just as untamed as ever, and he’s clad in a horrendous All Might hoodie along with plain sleeping shorts and his signature red shoes. “Whu?” Katsuki rasps, mind still sleep-addled and a little bit focused on murder. “Can I come in?” Deku asks, pointedly looking behind him. It takes a moment for the request to register with Katsuki, but when it does he nods, stepping aside to let Deku in. He shuts the door behind him and flicks on the lamp, light filling up his room. There’re random pieces of clothing draped across his desk chair, but the floor is impeccably clean and void of any dirt. Deku turns where he stands in the middle of the room, hands in the pocket of his hoodie and smile still uneasy. Katsuki’s brows furrow. “What’re you doing here?” Deku hesitates. “You want me to leave?” “I didn’t say that.” They lapse into a deep silence, neither of them moving for several moments. Katsuki reaches up to scratch at his bare chest, trying to keep his eyes open and focused on the guy before him. Deku’s gaze jumps to his hand, then back to the floor. He worries at his bottom lip, a distracting habit of his, and eventually says, “I wanted to see you.” Katsuki remains quiet, having an inkling that there’s more to come. Sure enough, Deku licks his lips and looks Katsuki straight in the eyes when he announces, “I want to have sex.” Katsuki freezes. He’s… he’s not entirely sure he heard correctly. “What?” Deku blushes and averts his gaze. “Stop that.” He mumbles. “Are you sure?” Katsuki asks, his mind trying to catch up to the words. He drops his hand to his side and takes a wary step forward. Deku shrugs helplessly. “I wouldn’t be here if I wasn’t.” Katsuki can’t argue with that. He swallows once, then twice, because his throat is still dry, and asks, “Do you… want to lie down?” Deku snorts out a laugh, shaking his head in good humour. Katsuki can’t help it. He doesn’t know why he’s being so cautious about this. This. Having sex. He’s been thinking about it non-stop for literal days on end, but now, when the moment is here, he fumbles? What the actual fuck is wrong with him. “You’re so smooth.” Deku laughs, stepping up to him. He gently takes Katsuki by the wrist and leads him back to the bed, a small smile playing at his lips. “Don’t worry, I’m new at this too.” “You better be.” Katsuki growls out of nowhere. The sound causes Deku pause, and he lets out a sudden bark of laughter. “Are you seriously this possessive?” He asks through bouts of giggles. “No.” Katsuki denies instantly, then clenches his jaw. “I don’t know. No? I just would’ve hated it if you had sex and didn’t tell me... Actually, scratch that— I would hate it if you had sex and it was with someone that wasn’t me.” “I thought so.” Deku hums, sitting himself on the edge of the bed. He pulls Katsuki forward, leaning back as Katsuki crowds over him. Deku’s braced between his elbows, the two of them lying prone, chest to chest, legs to legs, hips to hips, growing erection to growing erection. That last point of contact has Katsuki emitting a groan and his eyes slip shut. This… this right here is good shit. He feels Deku’s fingers card through his hair, the movement of his breathing lifting his chest up and down. His other hand comes up to Katsuki’s face, and Katsuki’s eyes slowly open up. Soft, green eyes gaze into his own, lust evident in their depth, in the way Deku’s cheeks heat up, in the way his lips are parted. He looks gorgeous, and Katsuki just wants to ravage him to his heart’s desire. Deku’s thumb runs down his cheek and stops on his lips, gently pressing against the seam. Katsuki opens his mouth slightly, allowing Deku to press his thumb inside. He licks at the digit, relishing the way Deku’s eyes slip shut and his head lolls back with a moan. “I want you to fuck me.” Katsuki’s brain short circuits. “What?” Deku gazes at him through half-lidded eyes. “I said I want you to fuck me.” The words have Katsuki crumbling, and he pants out a ‘yes’. Yes. Alright. He’d thought they’d be discussing that aspect of sex more thoroughly, but apparently Deku has already made his mind up. Still, there was some… business, that needed to be taken care of first. Swallowing, Katsuki clears his throat. “Need… need to prepare you.” He manages to get out, his voice rough. It must be doing something for Deku, because a shiver tears through his body and his thighs clench around Katsuki’s waist. Goddamn, if that isn’t sexy. Deku has marvellous thighs, muscular, toned, and strong thighs. They could break a man’s neck easy, and really, that shouldn’t be such a turn on. “Already… I already have.” Deku pants, a heavy flush working its way down his neck. “I bought an enema online, and already used it. There’re condoms and lube in my hoodie. I’m— I’m ready.” Katsuki gazes down at Deku in pure awe, seeing him as the wonderful being that he is. So reasonable, so smart, so prepared and fucking ready for anything. He’s the absolute best and Katsuki tells him that by giving him a slow, torturous kiss. He meant for it to be a simple peck on the lips kind of kiss, but when Deku tugs at his bottom lip with his teeth, Katsuki’s a goner. He presses Deku further into the mattress, hands grabbing at his shoulder as he catches the other’s mouth with his own and pries his lips opens. Deku moans at the intrusion and grips the back of Katsuki's hair, pulling at the strands and making him keen. It takes all of Katsuki’s effort and restraint to pull away from those sinful lips. He holds Deku down with a hand across his chest when the other tries to follow. Deku whines, the sound high and needy, and Katsuki can’t help but roll his hips against Deku’s. “Fuck.” He spits out, licking his lips. “Wait. Fucking wait.” “Why?” Deku complains, hands grabbing a hold of Katsuki’s thighs and rolling his hips up to meet Katsuki’s downward thrusts. “Fuck.” Katsuki curses, unable to stop himself from rubbing against Deku again. God, he has no self-control whatsoever. “I want to— I want to— shit, I want to know how it was?” “Hmm?” “The enema.” Katsuki says, grabbing a hold of Deku’s wrists and pinning them to the side. “How did it feel using it?” Deku doesn’t appear put-together at all, not with the way his cheeks are darkened and his panting fill up the room. Also there’s the very obvious bulge in his trousers, but Katsuki is trying his utmost to ignore it in favour of having his question answered. Believe him, there’s nothing he would love more right now than to put his face to Deku’s crotch and mouth at the hardness, but seriously, he does want to know for future reference. Deku clenches his fists and lets out a sigh, seemingly trying to gather his thoughts. “It.” He sniffs, and scrunches up his face. “It was weird.” “Bad weird?” Deku shakes his head. “Just… weird.” Katsuki’s eyes soften, and he strokes his knuckles down Deku’s freckled cheek. He leans down to kiss him on the forehead, a very uncharacteristic gesture, but what’s even more uncharacteristic is the ‘sorry’ Katsuki murmurs against his boyfriend’s hair, placing a second kiss on his temple, down on his nose, and finally on his lips. Deku smiles into the kiss, wrapping his now free arms around Katsuki’s neck. “It’s fine,” He murmurs when they pull apart. “I wanted to... I want you.” Katsuki deeply wishes he could recall how their first time having sex went, but honestly, he’s such a goddamn secret sap that he remembered the vulnerability of their conversation more than the act itself. He remembers bits and pieces here and there, like how tight Deku had felt when he’d fingered him open, how scorching hot his body had been. He remembers Deku whining his name, choking out commands and revealing himself to be incredibly pushy in bed, but Katsuki didn’t mind. He liked seeing this forceful side of Deku, liked being ordered how to move, where to touch, how fast to go. He liked how Deku’s fingernails had dug into his back and hair, tearing cries of pain and pleasure from Katsuki as he’d pounded into Deku beneath him, gasping into his mouth through open- mouthed kisses until they both cried out in completion. He really wishes he could recall the memory better, but all he remembers is that they were crazy good at sex. Like crazy good for being first timers. * Their first morning after was sadly ruined by the fire alarm going off in the dorm (courtesy of Kaminari, thanks for that, asshat), but Katsuki will treasure the memory of Deku scrambling out of bed to hastily pull on his clothes for a lifetime. * The first person Katsuki tells about him and Deku turns out to be Kirishima, and it’s more of a spur of the moment confession than an actual planned one. Kirishima had been over at Katsuki’s place playing video games, the two of them trying to enjoy their summer of freedom for as long as they can before the gruelling responsibilities of UA came hounding after them. Kirishima’s an alright guy, if maybe a bit too hard-headed and… red. But, he’s not bad. Certainly not the worst out of the bunch in their class. He’s a bit too loud for Katsuki’s liking, but Katsuki’s self-aware enough at this point to know he can’t complain considering he’s got quite the reputation at school for being an even louder-mouth when incensed. Kirishima drops the controller to the ground. “Damn it!” “Suck it, bitch.” Katsuki chuckles as his character strikes victory poses onscreen. “Unbelievable. There’s no beating you!” “Course not. I’m the best.” “So modest.” Kirishima tuts, leaning back on his arms. He cranes his neck left and right in an attempt to sort out the crick in his neck. They’ve been playing non-stop for almost two hours on end, so it’s no surprise the guy needs to loosen his muscles. Actually, Katsuki should do the same thing. He’s stiff as a board. Katsuki lets out a soft sigh as he rubs at the back of his neck, firmly working his thumb into the flesh of his shoulder. “Hey, Izuku’s on there!” Kirishima exclaims suddenly, pointing at the screen. Katsuki’s eyes snap up, and sure enough, there’s Deku’s name blaring in the third place spot on the scoreboard. “Oh, and he got a better score than you!” Katsuki snorts. Sure, Deku did get a better score than Katsuki’s previous attempts, but that’s still his name shining brightly in the number one and two slots. “Yeah, nerd’s not bad.” “Didn’t know the guy had it in him.” Kirishima chuckles. “You two play often?” Katsuki nods distractedly as he switches the screen to start up a new game. “Yeah. We uh, we play quite often.” “That’s cool. Glad to see you’re getting on better.” Kirishima says, reaching for his controller. And really, that’s where the conversation would naturally come to an end in favour of some more ass-whooping, but a sudden flash of courage has Katsuki pressing on. “Deku used to come over often, though not so much lately. It’s easier meeting in the dorms than outside of it, and it’s safer now that we’re…” Katsuki clears his throat. “Now that we’re kind of… dating.” Katsuki steadfastly stares at the screen before him, thumbing along the controller’s buttons to choose a new location as their fighting arena. He tries really hard to focus on nothing but the options displayed on the screen, but the unnerving silence finally gets to him and he chances a glance at Kirishima. He really wishes he hadn’t though. The guy is looking at him with tears in his eyes and both hands over his mouth. He sounds choked up when he stammers, “I think I’m gonna cry.” Katsuki awkwardly turns back to the screen. Yep. This is a moment of Instant Regret. * The first ‘lovers quarrel’ they have, though Katsuki prefers to call it a ‘couples fight’, has to do with Todoroki of all people. Actually, never mind ‘of all people’. Todoroki was the cause of their fight because Todoroki was a goddamn pain in the ass and refused to admit it. He was being too close to Deku for Katsuki’s comfort, and Katsuki had simply made it known to Deku in a very vocal manner. He thought they’d be able to have a rational (one-sided, that is) argument about it and settle things quickly, but surprisingly Deku actually gets heated up about the subject at hand. “I’m not going to end my friendship with Torodoki just because you feel threatened.” “I’m not threatened.” Katsuki bites out, shoulders tense. “I just don’t like how close he is to you.” “I have other friends who are close to me, why don’t you worry about them?” Deku retaliates, holding up his fingers as he tallies off his friends. “Why don’t you worry about Iida? Or Uraraka? Or how close I am with—“ “Why the fuck would I worry about—“ Katsuki halts suddenly. “Wait. You… you’re not gay?” Deku pauses in his counting, thrown off course by the question. Suddenly his cheeks grow furiously red and his expression turns thunderous. “Of course I’m gay! I wouldn’t be dating you if I wasn’t!” “I mean, are you bisexual? Or pan? Or whatever, I mean do you like women?” Katsuki shakes his head, trying to get back on track. “No.” Deku grits out, scowl darkening. “Then why would you bring up Round Face?” Katsuki spits out tightly. “You damn near gave me a heart attack.” “It was just an example.” Deku huffs with a roll of the eyes. “Fine, let’s not use Uraraka here. Why aren’t you jealous of Iida?” Katsuki can’t explain it. In his mind it makes perfect sense, but trying to translate how his mind works into words is frustrating as hell. Glasses guy is unimportant. He’s non-threatening. He’s goody-two shoes to a tee and Katsuki’s almost, 100% positive the guy is straight. That other bastard though… Katsuki takes a deep breathe, then slowly tries to explain through clenched teeth, “I think that Half-N-Half bastard might not be so straight.” Deku raises a single eyebrow. “So?” “So, what? He clearly likes you!” “As a friend!” “As more than!” “How do you know?” Deku challenges, crossing his arms over his chest. Katsuki’s hands fly to his hair, tearing through the strands. “I don’t know! Okay? I don’t know! He just… he pisses me off.” Deku shoots him a glare, unimpressed. “Not a good enough reason.” Katsuki barks out a bitter laugh. “Who said it had to be ‘good enough’? It’s just my reason, okay? Fucking deal with it.” Deku shakes his head. “No. This is… I’m too tired for this.” He emits a sigh and drags his hands down his face. He stands still for a moment, allowing the very beginnings of an awkward silence to grow before dropping his hands to his side and turning on his heel, leaving a gobsmacked Katsuki behind. He gives a final look over his shoulder and announces, “You can come find me when you’ve stopped being childish.” Those word kick Katsuki into action, and he rushes through the door after Deku, yelling after him as the guy calmly walks away. Katsuki is panting where he stands against the doorframe, red-shot eyes blazing with anger. “I’m being childish? I am? Fuck you Deku, you worthless piece of shit! Fuck you!” * The first time Katsuki and Deku make up as a couple is several days after their first fight as a couple. It’s been a tense few days where neither of them would speak to the other inside or outside of the classroom, not even during practical exams or activities where they were paired together. They were told off more than once about how thick-headed and idiotic they were for jeopardising their education over something as stupid as a lovers quarrel (‘couples fight’, Katsuki would snarl), but even the teachers’ reprimands wouldn’t budge the two. If Katsuki was stubborn to a fault on a daily basis, Deku was stubborn to death on the rare occasion he decided to be. That is exactly why Katsuki is the first one to approach the other despite his obvious displeasure. Sure, Deku’s been insufferable during these last few days and Katsuki still truly believes his outburst was justified, but he isn’t happy with how things are. He doesn’t like the fact that Deku ignores him whenever they’re in close proximity, and it hurt his pride when Katsuki accidentally catches Deku’s gaze and the other deliberately turns his nose up at him. It’s downright infuriating, but more than that it makes Katsuki miss Deku. The guy is a pain in the ass from time to time, he’s naïve to a fault and mutters too much during trips to the cinema, but he’s still Katsuki’s, and Katsuki’s still his, and this is not how their relationship was going to end, damn it. He corners Deku in the recreation hall of their dorms and kindly (or as kindly as Katsuki can) tells his friends, which also includes fucking Half-N-Half, to ‘get fucked’ because he has to talk some sense into Deku. Deku presses his lips together at that exclamation, and all of his friend exchange knowing glances before heading off, leaving Katsuki to deal with a Deku that’s glaring daggers at him. This is going to be fun. Heaving a deep sigh Katsuki plops himself down next to Deku, throat constricting as he tries to form his thoughts into reasonable, coherent sentences. “I fucking hate Half-N-Half.” Katsuki catches Deku shaking his head in disbelief. “Are you fucking serious right now?” “You didn’t let me finish.” Katsuki grumbles, clearing his throat. “Don’t you want to know why I hate him?” “Are you gonna be an ass about it?” Deku deadpans, a fatigued look in his eyes. He must’ve not been sleeping well lately. Katsuki holds himself back from sneering some harsh insult, though the need is great. “Yes. But you’ll understand if you just hear me out.” Deku thins his lips, appearing to be weighing out his options before finally giving Katsuki a nod of approval. “Go on, then.” “Right.” Katsuki starts, gathering himself. “Right. I… hate Half-N-Half—“ “Todoroki.” Deku interrupts. “His name is Todoroki.” Katsuki’s jaw clenches. He’s a pain. He’s such a fucking pain Katsuki can’t believe he actually wants to make up with this pedantic asshole. Inhaling deeply, Katsuki justifies to himself that he needs to remain calm and civil if only to help lead him to his point faster. He can’t handle all this interruption, he knows he can’t, and if it happens again he will most definitely blow. “Torodoki.” Katsuki relents, the admittance hurting him deep in his bones. “I fucking hate Todoroki because… he… is better…” Deku patiently waits for the end of the sentence, but when nothing comes he prompts, “Better at what?” Katsuki steels himself for the answer and replies, “He is better than me. In many. Many ways.” He avoids Deku’s gaze, choosing instead to stare right ahead while spilling out his insecurities like he’s at a goddamn therapist’s office or something. “He treats you better than I do. Much better. He’s nicer to you. He doesn’t argue with you. He treats you like a prince. His temper doesn’t go off like a fuse every five goddamn minutes, and he’s not… he’s not bad- looking.” “He’s gorgeous.” Katsuki’s eyes sharpen and dart to Deku. “Thanks for that stab at my ego.” Deku’s cheeks colour slightly. “Sorry. I’m just. He is, y’know?” Katsuki drops his head with a sigh of defeat. “I know.” His shoulders feel stiff and his back aches from sitting tightly during the entire conversation. It hasn’t even been five minutes but already Katsuki feels drained. A hand settles itself onto his back and slowly begins rubbing circles into the muscle, dragging a low moan from Katsuki. “That feels amazing.” Katsuki murmurs, continuing to keep his head down. Deku hums and works his hand further up his back, pressing into his shoulder blades. Katsuki tilts his head to the side, inviting Deku to advance his ministrations further up. Instead, the hand works its way over his shoulder, past his neck, and begins gently caressing his cheek. Katsuki leans into the calloused touch. His face is lifted up and turned to the side. Deku looks him in the eyes, a fond expression settling over his features. “Todoroki may be all that you said and more.” He starts, but that’s all he gets to say before Katsuki clenches his jaw and whips his head away from Deku. Almost immediately it’s turned back to green eyes glimmering with amusement. “He may be all that and more, but there’s no one I like more in this world than you.” * Katsuki soon finds out that make up sex is the fucking tits, and possibly even more explosive than regular sex. As soon as the door slams shut and signals the start of their privacy, Deku releases whatever pent-up sexual frustration he must have held in for the last couple of days and full-on launches himself at Katsuki. He tears his clothes off with urgency, mouth never leaving a single part of his boyfriend’s body as he distractedly peels off his own garments and tosses them haphazardly to the side. The primal way Deku attacks Katsuki as if he wants to devour him whole has Katsuki shivering with anticipation, and he gives back as good as he gets. When Deku tackles him to the bed Katsuki holds his head between his hands and kisses him deeply, drawing whimpers from his boyfriend’s mouth. When Deku crawls atop of him and starts grinding his erection against Katsuki’s hip, Katsuki licks the flat of his palm and grabs a hold of both of their erections. The action has Deku throwing his head back with a gasp, shedding light on the veins in his neck. Katsuki hungrily licks his lips and leans forward, digging his canines into the flesh of his boyfriend’s neck. Deku emits a loud moan and his hips stutter, fingers digging into Katsuki’s arms. “Katsuki, Katsuki, Katsuki,” He gasps like a prayer, and it drives Katsuki fucking wild. “Come on, Deku,” He murmurs, voice dark and coarse. “Let me fuck you.” Deku nods furiously, sweat plastering his hair to his forehead. He looks like he’s in goddamn heaven already, but there’s no way in hell Katsuki’s letting him get there without his help. They’re both riled up already, having neither the time nor patience for foreplay. Katsuki wrenches himself away from Deku long enough to rummage through his nightstand drawer and pull out the necessary items; condoms and lube. He’s just about to rip open the condom when Deku bats it out of his hands. “What the fuck, Deku,” Katsuki growls, staring after the discarded condom packet on the floor. “No.” Deku murmurs between kisses pressed to Katsuki’s face. “Do me raw.” Katsuki hisses. “No.” The utterance has Deku pausing. “What?” “I said no.” Katsuki repeats, pushing Deku back on his lap. He’s panting hard, but not gone enough to be incapable of speech. “You’ve not prepared for that, and we don’t know what it’s like cumming inside someone. Haven’t read up on it.” Deku blinks at him, a frown forming. “So pull out before you come.” Katsuki shakes his head with a shaky smile. “Deku, trust me when I say that once I slide into you bare, I will not for the life of me be able to pull out until I empty myself inside you.” Deku blushes hard, his breath quickening. “Um. Wow.” “Yeah.” Katsuki agrees, letting his head fall back against his pillow. “So we can’t,” Deku begins, swallowing. “We can’t have sex?” “Not penetrative sex. But we could do other things, like—“ Katsuki suddenly sits up on his elbows, a wide grin stretching across his face. “Turn around.” Deku blinks in confusion, sliding further down Katsuki’s thighs. “Huh?” “Trust me. You’re gonna like this.“ He assures, eyes glinting with promise. He can fucking sense Deku’s pulse increasing at the statement, and his lips pull even wider. He watches as Deku does as he’s told, pushing himself off Katsuki far enough to comfortably turn around and place himself back onto his thighs. Deku peers over his shoulder. “Like this?” “You’re not fooling anyone with your innocent act, Deku.” Katsuki scolds him half-heartedly, administering a swat to his ass. Deku gasps and jolts at the contact, thighs squeezing around Katsuki’s own. Fuck yeah. “You know what to do.” Deku nods and gingerly moves himself back until he’s sat on Katsuki’s stomach. Katsuki’s hands fall to Deku’s thighs, rubbing up and down them at a leisurely pace. They’re so goddamn toned and muscled, Katsuki just wants to bite into them until Deku wails. Or fuck between them until he comes all over his ass. Speaking of… Katsuki’s hands trail up Deku’s thighs until they land on his ass. Round, gorgeous ass. He grabs a handful of cheek in each hand and spreads Deku open. “K-Kacchan!” Deku stammers, fingers tightening where they’re holding onto Katsuki’s hips. “You know what’s about to happen, Deku?” Katsuki hums, voice hot like liquid gold. “Y-yeah.” Deku murmurs, thighs trembling. God, he’s a sight. “Tell me.” “You… you’re gonna eat me out.” “That’s right.” Katsuki confirms, and leans forward to place a light kiss on Deku’s hole. It twitches in response, and Katsuki lets out a guttural moan. “Fuck, that’s hot.” “Kacchan…” Deku’s voice is shaking. “That’s dirty.” “Mm…” Katsuki hums, thumbing the hole. “Don’t care. No way I’m letting this go to waste. And you, Deku; what’re you gonna do?” “Me? Wha— what am I gonna do?” He sounds delirious, beads of sweat already sliding down his back. Katsuki’s feeling generous today, and so he spreads his own legs slightly, jostling Deku where he’s sat. The nerd seems to realise what he’s hinting at, because his thighs tighten around Katsuki’s shoulders, the pressure something magnificent. “I’m going to swallow you whole.” Deku says with awe, and shit, if that tone doesn’t just lick pleasure up Katsuki’s spine. “Yeah, you are.” He pants, already leaning up again to place his mouth over his boyfriend’s hole. He can feel Deku seizing up at the action, but relax soon after. Katsuki takes his sweet time pressing kisses to Deku’s hole, occasionally licking at the rim and stimulating his boyfriend into choking out moans. The torture is made all the much better when Deku takes Katsuki’s cock into his mouth, tentatively at first with just the tip, then slowly works his way down to his pubes with every bob of his head. Katsuki can feel Deku sucking him down at a steady pace, his hips lifting up to meet that wet heat. It’s fucking fantastic and propels Katsuki into rewarding the nerd as well as he can. His licks become less delicate and hold more pressure. He stops using his mouth and instead makes use of his tongue, and his tongue only, spreading Deku’s cheeks wider so he can circle the rim and spear into the heat of his asshole. Deku shakes in his hold, he can feel it from the way his thighs quiver and his hole twitches around Katsuki’s tongue. It’s goddamn amazing and he pushes his face further between Deku’s cheeks, eyes slipping shut as he eats his boyfriend out like he’s the best thing he’s ever tasted. The stimulation must affect Deku something fierce, because he’s frantic in his actions, head bobbing up and down at a quicker pace now and entire body wracked with sobs. Katsuki can feel him crying around his cock, hot tears dripping down onto his pelvis, and fuck¸ that’s fucking hot. It drives him insane and Katsuki can’t help but snap his hips up into that wonderful mouth. He hears Deku gag at the action, but instead of pulling off and recovering from it, Deku seems to renew his efforts and changes his speed to meet Katsuki’s upwards thrusts. Katsuki has never felt luckier in his life than he has now. He continues his own ministrations on Deku’s hole, eating him out until he can feel the tell-tale sign of his impeding orgasm. Deku’s balls tighten where they hit Katsuki’s chin, and the guy himself keeps pressing his ass further into Katsuki’s face in an effort to get himself off. Katsuki growls deep in his throat and gets a better grip of Deku’s ass cheeks, holding them tightly in each hand as he forces his tongue inside while simultaneously surging up into Deku’s mouth. He can feel the guy’s throat constrict around his cock, can feel how hungry he is for it and how hard he’s trying to take all of it down his throat. The image sends a full body shiver through Katsuki and has his vision blurring. The final act that sends Katsuki over the edge is when Deku reaches down to fondle Katsuki’s balls, rolling them in his hand as he gives one long suck around his cock, and fuck¸ he’s gone. He’s a fucking goner. Katsuki unloads into Deku’s mouth, breaking away from his asshole and heaving for breathe when he feels Deku trying to suck him dry of every drop of cum. “Fuck, Deku.” He hisses. Deku pulls off his sensitive cock with a pop and peers over his shoulder, sweaty hair plastered to his temple and panting. “Finish me off.” Katsuki’s eyes clench shut. He can’t ignore a command like that. With renewed vigour and a sharp smile promising to follow through, Katsuki leans back up and attaches his mouth to Deku’s spit-slicked hole. Deku throws his head back with a cry, spreading his thighs further to allow Katsuki better access. Katsuki presses close and licks inside Deku, digging the nails of one hand into the flesh of Deku’s ass while the other absently moves to his cock. He gets a firm hold of Deku’s cock and begins jerking it a steady pace, his hand sliding up and down Deku’s length. The double stimulation sends Deku into a frenzy, and Katsuki can feel Deku’s hips stuttering and his balls tightening before he comes with a shout. His hole clenches tightly around Katsuki’s tongue and his cock gives a valiant effort at getting back up, but no deal. Katsuki can feel Deku shuddering through his orgasm, his cum splattering onto his stomach. It’s still hot from release, and Katsuki shivers. It feels dirty, but he so loves being marked up. “Fuck.” Katsuki gasps, dropping his head back against his pillow. Deku follows suit quickly after, toppling over onto his side. He wiggles on the spot, spreading his arms and legs out over the bed. Deku always says he gets too hot during sex, and this is the best way for him to cool down. The two of them lie together, their heaving breathing the only noise filling up the room. They take a well-needed moment to recover, simply laying amongst the sweaty bed sheets. Gross. Katsuki will have to wash those as soon as he’s able to. Deku weakly kicks at Katsuki. “Hnn.” Katsuki grunts in response. Deku lifts his head up and throws Katsuki a cheeky grin. “We should get into fights more often.” * The first time Katsuki says ‘I love you’ to anyone other than his family is when he and Deku are hauling ass to catch the train back to their dorms. They were supposed to be at the station with five minutes to spare, but midway through the walk there Deku realised he’d forgotten his keys at the ramen stall they’d had dinner at. Of course that meant they had to rush back and find the keys, and then absolutely leg it back to the station before the train left. It was a good plan while it lasted. The two of them are left staring after the train’s image as it became smaller and smaller in the distance, disappearing in the dark of the evening. Katsuki and Deku are both hunched over with their hands on their knees, gasping for air. “We missed it…” Deku pants, straightening up. “No shit, Deku.” Katsuki grunts, rubbing an arm over his temple. He really needed to work on short-term, intense workouts from now on. If a ten minute sprint to the station could get him winded then he was in no shape to become a Pro-Hero. “If only you hadn’t forgotten your keys.” “I already said I was sorry about that.” Deku murmurs, heading over to check the train timetables. “This isn’t a one-off thing, Deku.” Katsuki says, trailing after him. “You always do this. You’re so damn forgetful. If it’s not leaving your keys at a ramen stall, it’s losing your phone at Round Face's home, forgetting your notebook in a bookshop, or even leaving your Pro-Hero costume in the changing rooms.” “Those only happened once!” Deku whines. “That last one has happened at least five times.” Katsuki reminds him. Deku’s cheeks stain red and he pouts. “Well, I’m sorry. I’m awful at remembering materialistic things. I promise it won’t happen again.” “You say that now.” Katsuki scoffs and mutters, “Can’t believe I love you.” Deku whips around to stare at him, mouth agape. “What did you say?” Katsuki’s glaring in Deku’s direction, still displeased at having missed the train. However, when at Deku’s question he remembers his words, his glare immediately wilts and his face heats up. Fumbling, he stutters out, “I-I said I evolved you. I’m better than you.” Deku’s lips tilt up into a knowing smile. “At telling me you love me?” Katsuki’s cheeks flare up even more. “You shut your fucking mouth.” Deku’s delighted laughter pierces the air, his face open and clear. He shakes his head with a fond smile, eyes glimmering as he catches Katsuki’s gaze. “I love you too. So much.” Hearing those words makes Katsuki inexplicably happy. He can’t explain it, but his stomach does several quick somersaults in succession and electricity courses through his veins, alighting him from within. It’s just words, they shouldn’t make him as ecstatic as he is now, but they do. Simply said, they do. Katsuki nods stiffly and turns back to the train timetables, muttering out a low ‘I love you the most’ because damn it, he never loses. * The first time Katsuki introduces his boyfriend to his parents doesn’t exactly go as planned. They don’t even manage to have the initial meeting, something like a dinner, or just tea at the Bakugou residence, before his mum susses out who it is. In fact, it happens during the very phone call Katsuki makes to his mum where he’s going to set up a day his parents can meet Deku. His mum’s prattling on about how he should visit more often as it’s been several weeks now since he stayed at home, and every word grates at Katsuki’s nerves. Not just because he feels guilty for letting it go so long without a visit home (and really, there’s no excuse with UA being only a half hour walk away), but also because she doesn’t allow him to get a word in edgewise to propose bringing Deku over. Honestly, it’s a miracle his dad is able to hold a single conversation with her without fading into the background of her monologuing. “I am coming home, I’m coming home soon!” Katsuki snaps eventually, just punching through whatever topic she’s on about. “And I’m bringing my boyfriend over too, so you better behave.” His mum jumps straight back into conversation, ignoring the break in favour of distractedly saying, “Sure, sure, honey— wait, boyfriend?” Katsuki’s lips tilt up into a smug smirk. That shut her up. “Is it Izuku?” Katsuki’s smirk instantly falters and his eyes slide shut. He can feel a headache coming on. “Honey, is it Izuku?” “Oh my God, shut up!” Katsuki barks out, grinding his teeth. “It is Izuku!” She exclaims with delight. He can hear her shouting in the background at his dad, but he’s had enough of this conversation and hangs up with a particularly violent press on his phone’s ‘end’ button. A string of curses fall from his lips, causing Deku to peer up from his book. He casts a curious looks Katsuki’s way, and receives a heated glare in return. “She knows it’s you.” Deku drops his book in the process of hunching over in rambunctious laughter. * Their first birthday celebrated together as a couple happens to be Katsuki’s in April. Katsuki hasn’t told anyone it’s his birthday, but somehow he keeps receiving text notifications on his phone with strangers wishing him a happy birthday. Okay, fine, maybe they’re not strangers, but Katsuki most certainly didn’t give his number out to everyone in his class, so how they’ve all been able to get their hands on it somehow reeks of something suspicious. If Katsuki could hazard a guess, he’d place the culprit as being red, extremely red, and with guts of steel (probably body too). He’s excited to lounge around with Deku though, and even though they’ve not explicitly stated they’ll be spending the day together, it was expected from both parties. Thankfully Deku knows better than to attempt any cooking beyond toast, and so he orders in food for the both of them. It’s from Katsuki’s favourite takeaway place, and Deku orders all of Katsuki’s spicy regulars (Szechuan beef, triple chilli rice and veggie blend, and two cans of lychee juice) as well as something his palate will be able to handle. Once the food has arrived they settle themselves in bed and prop up Katsuki’s laptop, starting up Netflix and tuning in to ‘Rick and Morty’. Katsuki’s already seen all the episodes, they both have, but they enjoy re-watching the episodes and talking about theoretical shit and hypotheticals about science they don’t understand. Eventually they set their food aside and snuggle up on the bed, though that doesn’t last for very long before they’re both all over each other. Katsuki’s pulling off the outer layer of Deku’s outfit of the day (kid’s learning how to layer nowadays, good on him) when Deku breaks the kiss. “I’ve actually gotten you a present.” He says, licking his kiss-swollen lips. “Yeah, I know.” Katsuki says, gesturing at Deku’s semi-undressed state. “Pervert.” Deku chuckles, lightly shoving at Katsuki before getting to his feet. “I mean there’s another present.” “If it’s not you naked in the next ten seconds then I don’t want it.” Katsuki huffs. Deku pats Katsuki on the shoulder and gives him a quick peck on the lips. “You’ll like it, trust me.” He heads off to rummage through his bag by the door, leaving Katsuki to forlornly stare down at the erection in his trousers. Katsuki tries to console it to the best of his ability, assuring it that soon it would be released from its prison. When Deku returns he thrusts a wrapped parcel at Katsuki. “Ta-dah!” Katsuki blinks down at the parcel, gingerly accepting it. It’s about the size of a thick book, but definitely not as heavy as that. Katsuki holds it up to his ear and shakes. “Open it, dummy.” Deku giggles. Despite himself Katsuki’s curiosity actually grows, and he tears into the parcel with nimble fingers. He rips away the neat wrapping paper to reveal… Two dolls. Of himself. Katsuki blinks down at the items, picking up the individual boxes stacked atop of each other and holding them up. He squints at the dolls and surmises that, yep, that’s definitely him dressed in his Ground Zero costume. “Do you like them?” Deku inquires, practically vibrating with glee where he’s sat. Katsuki flips the boxes over, briefly skimming the text littered across the back. He turns them over again and looks to Deku. “The fuck is this?” “It’s an action doll of you!” Izuku blurts out excitedly, grabbing one of the boxes from Katsuki’s hand. “Officially they won’t be released for another two weeks, but there was an early midnight release for some items on Thursday and I decided to line up for that in order to get my hands on a few items, but my God. Kacchan. You have so many fans. Seriously, you have no idea. It’s insane.” Katsuki’s brows knit together. He’s not following this at all. “But… why would you do that?” The exuberance Deku’s been radiating since the parcel was opened dims slightly, and he suddenly looks uncertain. “Because I thought you’d like it.” He hesitates briefly, then asks, “Do— do you not?” “I like it.” Katsuki replies instantly. Deku’s shoulders sag in relief. A proud smile plays at his lips. “I’m glad.” “I have to ask, though,” Katsuki says, casting an inquisitive glance down at the box in his hands. The features are really well-done, he must say so himself. “Why’re there two?” Deku holds up the box in his own hands and exclaims like it’s the most obvious thing in the world, “Because one of them is for me! Because I’m Kacchan’s number one fan, have been and always will be despite all the new fans you’ve gotten.” He sets the box aside and leans forward, suddenly serious. “Honestly, Kacchan. You have no idea how many fans you have. And you’re not even a qualified Pro-Hero yet, can you imagine the mobs you’ll have when you actually get signed by a company?” Deku doesn’t get a chance to chatter on about the what-ifs and can-you-imagines of the future, because Katsuki grabs his arm and pulls him against his chest. Katsuki wraps his arms around his boyfriend and hugs him close, burying his nose into Deku’s mossy green hair. He smells a bit sweaty and the strands of his hair tickles his nose a little bit, but he never wants to let go. He wonders if Deku can feel his heart beating hard where their chests are touching. He wonders if Deku knows how much Katsuki loves him. * The first birthday Katsuki plans is for his boyfriend (obviously), and even though he knows exactly what Deku wants, he’s reluctant to go through with it. Someone as wonderful and friendly as Deku, with the social skills of a sloth but somehow still managing to charm everyone he comes across, definitely, absolutely, most certainly, deserves a surprise party. God, Katsuki hates himself. He loves Deku more, but God, hating himself right now comes so, so close. The only consolation to pulling off this feat is that he'll get to ride the ‘best boyfriend’ high for the next few weeks to come. Obviously he doesn’t go about putting the party together alone, he’s not an idiot no matter how much his actions may betray him. No, Katsuki knows his strengths weaknesses, and instead of taking on the responsibilities of the surprise party all by himself, he enlists the help of Deku’s nearest and dearest friends. Uraraka, Iida and Todoroki (yes, he fucking asked Todoroki, okay, Katsuki knows when to be petty and now is not the time) are all more than willing to give Katsuki a helping hand at orchestrating the whole event, and shit, is he glad he asked them. They’re all able to organise the more miniscule details of the party that Katsuki hates, like balloons, and banners, and the invite list. Katsuki only has one requirement for the list and that is that everyone who is invited should be someone Deku knew personally. Iida’s confused about the request until Uraraka takes him aside and explains that sometimes people will invite themselves to a party as long as there’s free booze there. Obviously there won’t be booze at this party because they’re all underage and under the constant watchful gazes of whoever mans the dorms’ reception on the night of the party. Still, that doesn’t mean they can’t have an amazing array of food and beverages, and yes, there will be food, because when it comes to holding a party for his boyfriend Katsuki will go all out. He’s appointed himself as head chef for the party, and takes on his responsibility to a worryingly serious degree. “Why would there be food at a party?” Todoroki asks, interrupting Katsuki’s browsing on his phone for party platters. Katsuki doesn’t even spare him more than a second's glance, immediately resuming his search of recipes. “Usually there’s not, but tell me, if you showed up at a party and they had three different types of lasagnes, wouldn’t you think it was a dope party?” There’s a moment of silence where Todoroki seriously considers Katsuki’s words, then gives a single nod of agreement. “I would. I would think it was a dope party.” The party turns out to be a major success. They’d decided to hold it in the dorms’ recreation area, and had even devised a plan to keep Deku out until they were finished prepping. With All Might stealing Deku away for some impromptu Pro-Hero exercises which was very clearly a bullshit excuse, the rest of them would be able to complete all of the setup and cooking (courtesy of Katsuki and Jirou, because, okay, damn, she was actually fire with cooking). Close to the time of the party’s ‘reveal’, people start trickling into the dorms. The entirety of class 1-A had been invited, along with several people from other classes, like that weird innovation freak Hatsume Mei, and even the creepy guy with the wild hair who looks perpetually tired. “Hitoshi,” Uraraka scolds, elbowing him in the ribs. “Stop doing that,” Katsuki grunts, throwing her a menacing look. “We’re not friends.” “I’m Izuku’s friend, and I know you’d do anything to make him happy.” She singsongs, grinning in his direction. “So really, it’d be in your best interest to be nice to me.” Katsuki stares her down with a look of absolute venom, positive the malicious intent wafting off of him will send her cowering to the opposite side of the room. Instead the fucking asshole laughs. “Don’t even try it, Bakugou, my boy,” She tucks her hair behind her ear. “Izuku’s told us all about how sweet you really are, and gotta say, we’re all very impressed.” Katsuki clenches his eyes shut. He wishes the ground would just open up and swallow him whole. Goddamn nerd spilling his guts out to his friends like they’ve all got some sort of healthy and stable relationship. Who the fuck does he think he is? A tentative touch to his wrist has Katsuki cranking one eye open. Uraraka’s lips are tilted up into a soft smile. “He’s very lucky to have you.” Katsuki feels his throat tightening at the compliment, his intricate need to deny any and all evidence of him being a decent guy boiling up. He tries to shake her off his wrist but she just grins wider, freely swinging her arm with the motion. The sound of someone hushing the rest of the room signals the arrival of the birthday boy, and Uraraka and Katsuki both ignore their childish spat in favour of diving for cover in the room. Kaminari clicks off the light and hides by the switch, listening out for approaching footsteps. Katsuki holds back a huff where he’s crouched behind one of the couches next to Yaoyorozu and Iida, the two of them murmuring quietly to each other. He hunches in further on himself and steadfastly keeps his eyes on the entrance. There are far too many people here for his liking, far too many strangers he doesn’t know, which means far too much social niceties he has to keep up in order for the party to remain civil, and goddamn it, far too many people have eaten from the party platters, leaving less than half of the food on the plates for Deku. It’s all too fucking much for Katsuki, but when the door opens and Deku jumps a mile into the air when everyone shoots out of hiding and yells ‘surprise!’, he thinks he’ll be able to manage to grind through this night. * The first time Deku tells him about how he obtained his powers is when they’re in bed. Katsuki vividly remembers his head being cradled against Deku’s chest, the other reading through his notes for their upcoming written exam. Katsuki doesn’t bother. He’s more of a cramming-the-night-before kind of guy anyway, and it seems to work for him because he always ends up nailing those exams. Small puffs of warm air hits Deku’s stomach where his shirt has ridden up, exposing his toned stomach to the room. Katsuki adjusts his head and wraps an arm around Deku’s waist, allowing his eyes to slip shut. He hears the flutter of pages, then Deku asking, “Did I ever tell you about my powers?” Katsuki’s forehead scrunches up, though he doesn’t open his eyes. “No.” “I got them from someone else.” Deku reveals, and Katsuki slowly opens his eyes. “Actually…” He begins, frown deepening. “I vaguely remember you telling me that.” “I thought so.” “Was after the UA exam.” Katsuki turns his head so he can peer up at Deku. All he gets is a view of his jawline and nostrils as the guy stares up at the ceiling. “Yeah.” Deku nods. “You didn’t believe me though.” “I didn’t not believe you.” Katsuki counters weakly. “I was just busy thinking about my own problems.” He really had been though. It was during that exam that he’d realised how insignificant he really was in the Pro-Hero world. His entire childhood had consisted of people praising him and telling him how brilliant he was, and that fed his ego and bolstered his arrogance. But that exam. Damn. That exam had knocked him off of his pedestal and right down to the ground. He’d been reminded how little he truly knew about the Pro-Hero world and was prepared for it. Todoroki showcasing his remarkable ice powers reminded him there were other Quirk users with insane abilities, Yaoyorozu using her tactical finesse to extrapolate the meaning behind the UA exam had reminded him there were people with much sharper minds than his own, and Iida with his level-headed behaviour during the exam reminded Katsuki there were people not crippled by emotions like himself. Deku hums. Katsuki turns onto his back, his head lolling back onto Deku’s chest. “So what about your powers?” Deku stills briefly, and if it had been anyone else but Katsuki with him they wouldn’t have noticed. But it was Katsuki splayed out onto bed with Deku, and he had noticed. Katsuki narrows his eyes. “Deku.” There’s a brief moment of silence, then Deku shuts his book and carefully places it on the nightstand by the bed. Katsuki sits up, sensing that this is going to be a serious conversation. He turns around and faces Deku who has crossed his legs, gaze directed down at the duvet. Katsuki waits, impatiently, for his boyfriend to say something. When he finally does, it’s— well, putting it lightly, it's the fucking shock of Katsuki’s life. “I inherited my powers from All Might.” Deku says in a rush, gaze briefly darting to Katsuki to gauge his reaction before looking away again. Katsuki simply stares at him. His first instinct is that it’s a joke, but the atmosphere of the room heavily implies that it’s anything but. His second instinct is to call Deku a fucking bitchass liar, but again, the tone of the room doesn’t lend itself to that truth. So, with his first and second instincts basically being void, Katsuki actually has to think and process the admittance. He takes it slow, repeating the sentence to himself several times before he’s got a hold of them. His mind turns the words over and over in his head, carefully analysing them from every angle until he finally concedes that, okay, there’s no other way to interpret them except for what they actually mean. Katsuki brings his knuckles up to his lips, deep in thought. He can hear Deku pulling at the duvet cover, the gesture exhibiting his nerves. Right. He’s nervous. Deku is nervous. Deku. Katsuki looks up and catches Deku’s gaze, halting his ministrations. “Right.” He states. “All Might.” Deku gives a miniscule nod. “Y-yeah.” “Right.” Katsuki repeats. “What the actual fuck?” Deku drops his head with a groan, his wild curls bouncing from the action. Katsuki immediately shoves his head back up, red gaze piercing into green ones. “Deku, seriously. What. The fuck?” His voice drops to a deep growl, any semblance of calm he had violently thrown out the window. “It’s…” Deku stutters, looking helpless. “It’s complicated.” “So explain it to me, fucktard.” Katsuki demands, snagging the little shit by the front of his shirt and shaking. “How the fuck did you get All Might’s power? How did you inherit it? Deku, tell me!” “I will, I will, just stop shaking me!” He yelps, loosening Katsuki’s grip on his shirt. Deku thrusts him back and scoots back, making sure to put some distance between the two of them. Katsuki is still riling with emotions; anger, incredulity, curiosity, all those strong feelings battling it out inside of him as he’s reminded once more of what Deku’s just revealed to him. All Might. Quirk. Fuck. His boyfriend has inherited All Might’s power and he’s only now finding out about it? That’s some bullshit. “Well?” Katsuki snaps, any patience he has rapidly bleeding out of him. If Deku doesn’t say something pretty fucking soon Katsuki’s going to tear the building down in his rage. “Right.” Deku starts, wetting his lips. “It’s… it’s really very easy. You see, I accidentally ran into All Might back before we began high school. Literally the summer right before our first year, and he and I… well, we kind of got talking after the sludge monster incident— that’s how we met,” Deku hurries to explain at Katsuki’s quelling look, knowing how much he hates being reminded of that time. “I swear, it’s not a dig at you, it just— that’s how we met. Honest. We met during that incident, and he, I don’t know? Must’ve seen something in me— or so he claims— and he, well, he gave me a piece of his hair.” “Wait, what?” Katsuki interrupts incredulously. “That’s… that’s not even the weird part.” Deku assures him with a wobbly smile. It makes him look ill. “I had to eat that piece of hair.” Katsuki’s jaw goes slack. Seconds trickle by as he just stares at Deku, not uttering a single word. Deku fidgets on the spot, looking anywhere but at Katsuki. Eventually the silence becomes too much for Deku to handle, and he mutters, “I’ve eaten worse things.” That snaps Katsuki out of his reverie, and he returns to his usual line of questioning. “Deku, what the fuck?” “That’s how I inherited his powers.” Deku explains hurriedly, wanting to push all of the explanation out in one go. “By ingesting some part of All Might I was able to inherit his Quirk, and now I’m working on making it my own.” Katsuki’s having trouble wrapping his mind around it all. Deku ingested All Might’s hair and inherited his Quirk. His boyfriend, the previously useless Deku, had been chosen by All Might. All Might, the universal Symbol of Peace, had seen something in Deku and granted him his Quirk. Had passed it on. Katsuki runs his hands through his hair, exhaling deeply. “What the fuck…” He grumbles to himself, head hurting from how hard he’s trying to examine the situation. All Might. Deku. Quirk. Shared Quirk. Passed on Quirk. The fuck. “Are you… are you okay?” Deku ventures carefully. Katsuki lets his hands fall to his sides with a cackle. “I don’t know, Deku. I don’t fucking know. Do I look alright to you?” Deku’s face contorts into a wary look, his eyes slowly dragging over Katsuki. “I know it’s a lot to take in at once—“ “No shit.” Katsuki sneers. “But it’s—“ Deku breaks off, rubbing a hand over his face. “It’s not like I deliberately kept it from you. I mean, even from the start when I inherited my Quirk I told you, you just didn’t believe me. And also I was under strict instructions not to reveal it to anyone. I still am.” Katsuki’s ears perk up at that. “Hah?” Deku scratches at his cheeks, face heating up. “I’m not… I’m technically not supposed to tell anyone about how I got my Quirk.” He looks up into Katsuki blood-red eyes, maintain full contact as he admits, “Ever.” “But… you told me.” “I know.” Deku bites at his lip. “And you can’t tell anyone. You absolutely cannot tell anyone I told you, okay? Swear it to me.” “Then why did you tell me if it’s such a fucking tight secret?” Katsuki bites out, his anger rearing its ugly head again. Deku pulls his legs up to his chest and hugs them close. “Well… because I love you. And I trust you.” Fuck. Those words. Those fucking words. Deku sure knows what to say in order to simmer Katsuki’s ire. It’s still present, very much so, but it’s been pushed to the background in favour of Katsuki trying to actually fucking relax for once. He breathes in deeply, attempting to centre his thoughts. Right. Deku shared this secret with him, his utmost protected secret, because he trusts Katsuki. Really trusts him. Loves him. And Katsuki loves him back. He truly does, even if Deku makes it difficult sometimes. No, focus. The matter at hand. So, Deku had inherited his Quirk from All Might the summer before they began their education at UA. That would explain the sudden appearance of Deku’s Quirk, or as the nerd had claimed at the time, ‘a late reveal’. Shit, Katsuki can’t believe he actually bought that. He thought he was smarter than that. Fuck it. So Deku hadn’t had a Quirk until their admission into UA, and he’d been endorsed, literally and figuratively, by All Might. A sudden thought occurs to Katsuki. “Is that why All Might keeps doting on you?” Deku’s eyes flit to the side as if he’s considering his next words. “He’s just making sure I’m handling it alright. I wasn’t… exactly good at it when I first started out.” “You mean when you busted your bones several times over trying to control it?” Katsuki remarks flatly. Deku’s face burns up from embarrassment, but he still manages to frown in Katsuki’s direction. “That’s the time. Though I wasn’t the only one.” Katsuki nods absently, not deeming that last comment with a response. He bites the inside of his cheek, leaving Deku to once more to stew in uncomfortable silence as he returns to his own thoughts. So, Deku had no idea how to use his Quirk prior to receiving it. Not his Quirk, All Might’s. He’d been a newbie and struggled with controlling it at the same everyone else in first year honed their own Quirks. That would explain how he’s advanced faster than anyone else in their class; since he started at the literal bottom just that summer, he was going to develop at a much faster rate than the rest of them who’d had their Quirks since they were kids. Katsuki’s resentment towards Deku’s quick learning at the time seems stupid now. It was stupid then too, but his stupidity is really highlighted now in hindsight. Deku has tried his best to get to where he was now. He’s tried so fucking hard, literally tearing his body to pieces to the point of almost no return, in order to stand where he is today. He’s proud of his progress, is proud of being able to stand side by side by the very heroes he’s idolised since childhood. The heroes they’ve idolised since childhood; together. Katsuki has been with him since they were able to fully walk on their own two feet without falling over, and he’s still with Deku now. Katsuki knows more than anyone how much Deku has yearned to become a hero, documenting Quirks and all things involved with them in his battered notebooks, buying every Pro-Hero related magazine he could get his hands on, watching every TV show pertaining to Pro-Heroes and the responsibilities that comes with the role. The guy could write a fucking doctorate in Pro-Heroes from how much he’s studied them. He deserves to be here. He deserves to be where he’s standing today. And if it so happens that his Quirk isn’t even his own, but an inherited one, then… well, Katsuki can’t really say anything about it. He can make a fuss all he wants, he can cuss up a storm and out Deku to the world as the fraud he is, but that won’t change the face that Deku has a Quirk now. He has a Quirk that he’s slaved to control, has bled, and sweated, and cried over until finally, finally, he’s able to handle it. He’s taken the Quirk he received from All Might and made it his own. Deku’s Quirk. Not All Might’s-Passed-On-Quirk, but Deku’s. Katsuki drags his hands down his face, groaning loudly. “Are you okay?” Deku voices his concern, tearing Katsuki from his introspection. His hands drop heavily onto his lap. He stares at Deku with tired eyes. Deku. Fucking Deku. Started as a nothing and grew into something. Has kept evolving and is most definitely not done evolving. He’s constantly changing, bettering himself, working on himself; he’s always a work in process. Katsuki nods slowly. He can see the relief rush through Deku as a small smile blossoms on his face. “I’m… That’s good.” Katsuki inclines his head once more, then taps Deku on the knee. “Lie down. I want to rest on your chest again.” “Y-you don’t want to know more about it?” Deku asks, but he’s already moving into position. He’s so eager to please his boyfriend any way he can right now he’d do anything, and really, Katsuki’s a saint for not taking advantage of that right now. He could make the most inane requests and Deku would probably rush to complete them for him. “I’ll think of more questions to ask.” Katsuki assures him, laying his head back down on Deku’s chest. It’s firm, warm, and Katsuki’s head keeps rising and falling with each breath Deku takes. Silence envelopes the room once more, encasing the two boys in its hold. It’s not a bad silence, but not comfortable either. It just exists. Katsuki remains quiet and unmoving, letting his eyes slip shut. He can hear Deku breathing softly, his heartrate thrumming beneath Katsuki’s head. Eventually the nerd picks up his book again, flipping through the pages until he’s found the spot he left off at. “Does this make All Might your father?” Katsuki voices suddenly. There’s a pause, then Katsuki feels Deku’s arms fall limp and a sigh of resignation. “Kacchan, please.” Katsuki’s rumbling laughter filters through Deku’s chest. “It’s an honest question, Deku.” “No, All Might is not my father.” He deadpans, shooting Katsuki an unimpressed look. “Sate your curiosity?” “Nah,” Katsuki turns on his side, facing Deku’s chin and getting a view up his nostrils from this angle. “If you ingested All Might’s DNA, does that mean you’ll grow to have a body like his?” Deku actually considers the question seriously before answering. “You know what, I’ve been wondering that myself. With the way I am now it’d be impossible, I mean, from a genetic standpoint. But whether All Might’s Quirk would grant me the ability to completely change my body into something, well, mightier, I’m not sure.” “So your answer is you don’t know?” “…Yeah.” Katsuki nods and turns back over to look up at the ceiling. A sudden yawn wracks through him, and he tries to stifle it by covering his mouth with his hand. “You tired?” Deku inquires, his fingers gently carding through Katsuki’s hair. “A little.” Katsuki grunts, eyes falling shut. “Wanna sleep?” “Later.” “Okay.” Deku continues to pet Katsuki’s hair, his warm fingers sliding between his strands and digging into his scalp. It’s extremely relaxing, and Katsuki can feel himself teetering towards sleep. “One last question.” Katsuki murmurs, forcing himself awake for a tiny bit longer. Deku hums, keeping up his steady pace of petting Katsuki’s hair. “Do you call All Might ‘daddy’?” “Katsuki, please!” Deku splutters, withdrawing his hands from Katsuki’s hair and shoving at his laughing form. * The first time Katsuki moves in with Deku is right after they graduate from UA. As they’re no longer students nor current alumni of the school, they’re forced to move out of the dorms to make way for a fresh batch of Pro-Heroes in training. Since neither of them want to move back in with their parents, nor live somewhere too far away from one another, they naturally decide to move in together. Their first move in together also happens to set off their first unfortunate trip and shopping experience to IKEA together, and Katsuki almost burns the whole shop down in a murderous rage and declares war against Norway. “IKEA’s Swedish.” Deku corrects him, perusing a white, minimalistic lamp. Katsuki doesn’t give a shit. He’ll declare war on all of Scandinavia if he ever has to step into another IKEA again. “Knew we should’ve gotten a furnished flat.” He grumbles, shooting daggers at some piece of design called the ‘Fluktstol’. * The only good thing that comes out of going to the hellhole that is IKEA, and Katsuki really stresses the only aspect of that confession, is that they now have a bed. Sure, it takes them almost the entire morning to decode what the images on the instruction sheets are meant to represent, and the rest of the day to put the fucking thing together, but in the end they have a bed. An actual, king-sized bed with a memory-foam mattress. They instantly christen it. Deku rides him hard, using all his strength to push himself up and down onto Katsuki’s cock buried deep inside. His powerful thighs shake from the exertion and Katsuki can’t help but dig his nails into the flesh, eliciting a hiss from Deku. It’s fucking magnificent, the sight of Deku sat atop his cock and using Katsuki’s body to wrench out his own pleasure only fuelling Katsuki’s desire. Lust thrums through his bloodstream, eyes never straying from the beauty that is Deku with his head thrown back and moaning like a goddamn whore. He licks up every tremor wracking Deku’s muscled body like his life depends on it, snapping his hips up to meet Deku’s downward thrusts to create the most amazing sensations. Once they both complete Deku falls forward onto Katsuki, stopping his descent by holding himself up with shaking arms. Katsuki’s lips twist up into a slow, dirty grin. Deku pants down at him, eyes gleaming with desire, and leans down to kiss him deeply. Katsuki barely gets to enjoy it before Deku sits back up, still gasping from their activities. He lazily reaches forward and pats the headboard. His lips quirk up into a teasing smile. “Pretty sturdy. Not bad, IKEA.” Katsuki’s sudden good mood is replaced by displeasure as he growls out, “Deku, I swear to God.” Deku’s laughter rings through their bedroom, and it’s hands down Katsuki’s favourite sound in the world. * The first time Katsuki experiences a near death experience of a beloved one is when Deku is almost completely wrung out of his life by a villain. He can’t even remember much from it. It all blended together, leaving him depleted. He can’t even remember what the villain’s Quirk was, only recalls screaming at the top of his lungs whilst blasting off his explosions till his body burned up in pain. Everything after that is a bit of a blur. Is a bit of hazy memory. Honestly, he can’t remember anything. Everything he knows about it was told to him, not first-hand experiences. Apparently he went into a murderous rage and destroyed the scene of the crime even more than the villain did. Apparently his company and the police tried to hush up the incident but news reporters still somehow managed to catch wind of it and print it in the tabloids. Apparently his company threatened to fire him if he didn’t return to his work, but he refused to budge from where he was sat by Deku’s hospital bed. Apparently the police warned him they would arrest him if he didn’t cooperate and hand over his statement, but Katsuki had simply continued to stay by Deku’s side. Apparently he was a menace towards the hospital staff who notified him that if he didn’t behave and allow the doctor and nurses to do their jobs he would be kicked out onto the streets. Apparently he cried watching the hospital staff unbandage and re-bandage Deku on a daily basis, his broken body reminding Katsuki of how he wasn’t able to help. Apparently he’d sat there for days, refusing to eat, or drink, or even sleep. Apparently several of Deku’s friends had visited, his mother had visited, his own parents had visited, but Katsuki can’t remember a thing. All he remembers is when the one person he cares more about in the entire world blinks open his eyes, squinting at the fluorescent hospital lights assaulting his senses, and gingerly turns his head to face him. “Kacchan?” Katsuki falls to his knees next to the bed, grasping Deku’s hand tightly between his own and sobbing into the hospital sheets. * The first holiday Katsuki takes with Deku is to New Zealand, and it’s a destination they both agree needs to be thoroughly explored. It turns out to be wonderful and helps lull them into a sense of relaxation which is very much needed in their line of work. But by no means do they laze around though, oh no, no, no. They only have ten days to spend to freely wandering the natural landscapes of this island, and they intend to do it right. They end up going bungee-jumping over a gorgeous river (twice; once solo and once together), zorbing down steep hills in the countryside, swimming in the ocean and orca-sighting, hiking through the mountains, and even though they have difficulty understanding the accent and deciphering the words, they manage to make it through all ten days without suffering damage and having made a few friends along the way. Well, Deku does, Katsuki just watches. All in all, their first holiday together turns out to be a dream, and on the plane ride back home Katsuki kind of dreads returning to work. Damn, he’s starting to sound like his old man. * The first time Deku gets scared of him is… Honestly, Katsuki can’t even remember what it was about. He just remembers being in the midst of breaking decorations, a few plates, a few All Might memorabilia, when he catches Deku’s eyes and freezes. He looks absolutely terrified. It’s an expression of fear Katsuki has never seen in the two decades he’s known Deku. The realisation snaps him out of his rage. “Deku.” He utters, taking a step toward him. “I—“ Deku hurriedly stumbles back, head hitting the wall. He scrambles to stay upright, wide green eyes never straying from Katsuki. Katsuki halts. He takes in Deku’s stance. Distant, tense, body propped up as if to lash out in defense. Katsuki catches Deku’s eyes darting to their room, then back to him again. In a split second Deku uses his Quirk to blast off into their room, slamming the door shut behind him. Katsuki hears a thump against the frame. Most likely Deku planting himself against the door. Katsuki stares after Deku for the longest time, silence filling up the now empty room. He slowly turns on the spot, looking around the mess he’s caused. Shattered glass strewn across the floor. Torn up pieces of an All Might action figure. Deku’s reading glasses bent into an unrecognisable heap. That’s when Katsuki realises it. Everything, everything that’s been destroyed, everything that’s lying broken across their living room floor; it all belongs to Deku. The shattered glass belongs to Deku’s mug. The torn up pieces of the All Might action figure is one of Deku’s. The bent reading glasses are Deku’s. None of the things that’ve been destroyed belong to Katsuki. He feels sick. He feels like he’s going to be ill, he’s going to throw up. Katsuki’s trembling on the spot, stepping away from the crime scene that he’s created. He shakes his head, lips quivering. He didn’t meant it. He knows he didn’t mean it. He’s positive he didn’t mean it. But the evidence is clear as day. * The first time Katsuki actually swallows his pride and voluntarily does something he’s always vehemently opposed is when he signs himself up for anger management classes. The night he saw that gut-wrenching expression on Deku’s face made him realise he never, ever, ever wanted to see it again. And knowing he was the cause of that look meant that he had to change himself. He had to better himself. Katsuki knows he doesn’t want to hurt Deku, he loves him to bits, but if even in his blinding anger he’s able to determine what will cause Deku the most harm, then how far does his love truly translate? Katsuki thinks he just wanted to show that he was angry, but that’s no fucking excuse for scaring his boyfriend and totally unacceptable. And so Katsuki forces himself to actually go to the anger management classes and open himself the fuck up for doctors to poke at his deeply rooted issues. He hates it. He fucking hates it. The therapist is an idiot and doesn’t understand shit, just nods their head along to whatever bull he’s spewing with a look of faux empathy. The activities assigned are the fucking worst and so do not help with reigning in Katsuki’s anger. If anything they fan his temper which is the complete opposite of their purpose. The idiotic questionnaires that he has to fill in every time something causes him irritation mock him, and he ends up combusting the first two batches before he actually manages to scrawl out his problems into the little empty boxes. He tries, he really fucking tries, and even though he feels like he’s fighting his way through molasses with nowhere to go, he pushes himself for Deku’s sake. It’s always for Deku’s sake. * The first time Katsuki finds out he’s going to be godfather turns out to be a fluke. He’s sat at the kitchen table with Deku, filling out his anger management questionnaire of the day which is going terrible at best. Most of it revolves around some dumbass at the train station shop cutting in front of him in the queue, and just the memory alone alights something dark in Katsuki. Deku’s sat at the only other chair at the table, knees up against the edge as he happily chatters away to whoever is on the tablet he’s holding. Katsuki’s really not been paying attention to be honest, and he can’t really tell because Deku’s got headphones plugged into the tablet so as to not bother Katsuki. He’s such a sweetheart, Katsuki really doesn’t deserve him. He tries though, tries to be good enough for Deku. And this goddamn questionnaire thing is part of his progress, though he hates it with every fibre of his being. It requires every single ounce of his attention or else he’ll end up torching it out of frustration, but he’s forcing himself not to do so or else Deku will get upset with him. He’s midway through documenting in very excruciating detail how the guy’s ensemble looked like he’d been dragged through the mud when Deku gasps. Katsuki briefly glances up at the noise to find Deku staring down at his tablet, mouth agape. He quickly resumes his activity, trying to recall how much the guy sounded like a little bitch on a scale from 1 to 10. “Kacchan.” “Hmm?” Katsuki replies absent-mindedly, deciding the guy sounded like a 7 on the scale. No, wait. An 8. Definitely an 8. “You’re gonna be a godfather.” “Mm.” Katsuki nods, then halts. He snaps his head up. “Wait, what?” Deku pulls his headphones out and stands up, dragging his chair round to Katsuki’s side before planting himself down. He removes the headphones from the plug in the tablet and tilts the device towards Katsuki, allowing him full view of the screen. Katsuki scowls down at the image. “Is that…” Kaminari holds up a small, brown ball of fluff to the camera, tears streaming down his face as he announces, “Layla had puppies!” He’s crying his eyes out, prattling on excitedly like a proud mother as he goes on and on and on about the batch of babies that have graced this wonderful world. He makes it sound like he’s the one who gave birth and not his damn dog. Deku’s shaking distracts Katsuki from the screen, and he looks over to see his boyfriend failing to hold in his giggles. His eyes narrow in betrayal. “You knew.” “I got to name one.” Deku replies between fits of laughter, unable to keep the sounds down. “Are you fucking serious...” Katsuki grumbles, turning back to the screen where Kaminari is cooing at the pup in his arms. Its little tail is wiggling something fierce, and that just makes Kaminari weep even harder. “Oh God, he’s beautiful,” He sobs, gently patting its fur. “He’s so, so pure. So good. Too good for this world.” “It’s just a damn dog.” Katsuki points out. Deku swats at his arm, failing in his attempt to look disapproving while his mouth is still quivering into a smile. “Hush, you,” He scolds. “So Bakugou,” Kaminari’s tinny voice erupts through the tablet, snagging his attention. The shithead carefully holds the pupper back up to the camera and asks, “What’re you gonna name your godson? Katsuki sits back in his seat with a sigh of exasperation. “You’ve gotta be fucking kidding me.” * The first pet Katsuki adopts together with Deku turns out to be a stray from the streets, and surprisingly enough it’s Katsuki who brings them in. He hustles in a black kitten that he saved from a bunch of hooligans on Halloween night, Katsuki’s explosions forcing them to escape in the opposite way. The kitten had looked to be injured, and so Katsuki had wrapped it up in his jacket and taken it home to be cared for, ignoring its mewls of distress in favour of making sure it sat comfortably perched against his chest. As soon as he lets it loose in the flat the thing scurries off underneath the sofa, a flash of black tearing past Deku where he’s sat at the kitchen table writing his latest incarceration report. Deku’s gaze follows its path, swiftly turning back to Katsuki with a questioning brow. Katsuki just heaves a sighs and says, “We’ve got a cat now.” The two of them abandon their plans for the night and instead try to soothe the little kitten hidden beneath their couch, attempting to draw it out of its hiding spot. “She’s rather skittish, isn’t she?” Deku comments as he peers underneath the couch. Katsuki’s on his knees on the opposite side, also staring down the creature hidden underneath. He can see the kitten’s silhouette, its back curled into a ball as it sits in the corner furthest away from either of them, pressed up against the wall. “It was just chased by a bunch hooligans, I think it has every right to be skittish.” Katsuki reasons. “Also what makes you think it’s a she?” Deku shrugs, eyes never leaving the cat. “I don’t know. Just looks like a she.” Katsuki scoffs. The sound causes Deku’s eyes to snap to him, a look of irritation brewing. “Did you check?” Katsuki sits back on his haunches and folds his arms across his chest. “Why the fuck would the first thing I do be to check the cat’s genitals?” “I don’t know, I don’t question the things you do anymore.” Deku counters, returning to trying to coo the cat out by rapping his fingernails on their wooden floor. It’s easier to hoover, Katsuki had argued when they first checked out the flat. Katsuki’s jaw clenches. “What I do?” This leads into another argument between the two, and soon enough the kitten is ignored in favour of their heated spat which eventually leads into the bedroom. The kitten sits comfortably beneath the couch, unwilling to move from its spot for the entirety of the night. * Their first fight about naming a pet has to do with the kitten they decide to keep, and if it isn’t a fucking battle. “Shania.” Deku muses. “Lil’ Runt.” Katsuki counters. “Georgina.” Deku offers. Katsuki shakes his head vehemently. “No, no people’s names, that just fucking weird.” Deku shoots him an incredulous look, his expression saying more than words ever could. “Because cats aren’t people.” Katsuki argues. He points at the kitten underneath the couch (it seems to be their favourite spot in the flat) and exclaims, ”Look at them. Do they look like a fucking finance manager to you?” Deku sighs in exasperation and returns to suggesting names. “What about Veronica?” “Avocato.” Katsuki answers in retaliation. “Lucy.” “The Void.” “Henrietta.” “DeMarcus.” “That’s racist.” Deku pouts. “There are white guys named DeMarcus.” Katsuki argues. “Name one.” Deku says, placing his hands on his hips. Goddamn, why does he have to do that? Doesn’t he understand it makes him look like his mum and that freaks Katsuki out? Katsuki opens his mouth to retort, but nothing comes out. Deku smirks in triumph, and fuck it, that just pisses Katsuki off. “Now that’s racist, associating a name with a race.” He accuses. Deku suddenly pales. “Shit.” “Shit’s alright.” Katsuki agrees, crossing his arms in victory. “I’ve just won the right to name the thing unopposed.” “No, I wanna name it too!” “Tough, you should’ve thought of that before your little racist outburst.” Katsuki says, leaning back down to check underneath the couch. Yup. There’s the cat, still hiding like a little bitch. Deku splutters. “Racist outbu—“ He cuts himself off with a clench of the jaw. Katsuki chances a look up and sees his eyes are closed in concentration. Finally Deku opens them again, annoyance clear in his green eyes. “I wanna help name it.” Katsuki sits back up and emits deep sigh. “It’s just a fucking cat, Deku. Why’re you taking naming it so seriously?” He knows he’s taking it just as seriously, but in their relationship Deku’s the more mature one where Katsuki is the more frustrating one. That’s their dynamics, that’s how they’ve managed to last this long. Deku’s sudden blush halts Katsuki´s thoughts, and his sudden curiosity makes itself known. There’s no reason for Deku to blush in their current situation, so that begs the question, what’s the cause behind it? “What?” Katsuki prompts, ever the impatient man. Deku glances at him before quickly looking away, hand coming up to scratch the back of his head. “Well, it… um. It’s kinda weird, but I. It.” Deku’s hand falls back to his side, and the flush in his cheeks darken. “This might be the closest thing we’ll get to naming a child, and I want to be a part of it.” The confession has Katsuki stilling. “What.” Deku lets out a groan and buries his head in his hands. “I know! I know it’s weird, I’m sorry! It’s just that we’re not— we’re not children people, Kacchan. We’re not going to have one, ever, right? I mean you endure children at best, and I like them as long as they’re not my own. But the whole naming thing? I kind of… I kind of really like that. It’s the only aspect of having children I like, and because we’re surely never going to have one, naming this cat is the next best thing. Actually, it’s better, because it’s not a child.” Deku sniffs and finally drags his gaze up to meet Katsuki’s stunned ones. He looks vulnerable, and a little wary, but definitely, absolutely, one hundred percent adorable. Katsuki drags a hand through his hair and pulls at the strands. Goddamn he hates how weak he gets when it comes to Deku being all sappy. Fuck him and his big heart, seriously. Katsuki lets his hand drop to his lap and gets to his feet, dusting off his jeans. He looks to Deku with a tired expression, cheeks tinting pink, and motions to the couch. “What do you want to name it?” Katsuki’s heart almost stops dead in his chest when Deku’s eyes flick up to him and a shy smile graces his lips. No, seriously, fuck Deku. * The kitten ends up being christened as ‘Boop’, because Deku loves booping it on the nose and the kitten loves pawing at Deku when he does so. It’s also a good, gender-neutral name, because even after having the kitten for about a month they still haven’t figured out whether it’s male or female. They probably should soon enough so that they can prepare for when it reaches puberty, and Katsuki, having been through puberty himself, knows how harsh of an experience that is and wants to ready Boop at all costs. Boop ends up taking to Deku like a fish to water, and Katsuki feels like he’s third-wheeling them because they’re constantly cuddling in the evenings (even though Katsuki was the one who rescued Boop, the ungrateful little shit). Eventually though Boop warms up to Katsuki too, and will often take to sitting on his chest and purring loudly as he scratches them behind their ears. Deku and Katsuki both love Boop as if they were their own, but they show it in different ways. Deku will regale people with stories of Boop and their shenanigans while showing them accompanying photos on his phone, and Katsuki introduces Boop to guests at the flat by announcing, ‘This is Boop, they're black, ageless, and a fucking asshole.’ Really, they’re the perfect parents. * The first time Katsuki proposes to Deku almost gives him a damn near heart attack, courtesy of Deku. Katsuki reserves a table at the restaurant they went to for their first date after moving in together, justifying to himself that as it was where they went to when they began their previous stage in life together, it’s only fitting that it be the scene once more for the next stage of their life together. He makes sure to book it on the night of their anniversary, as that way Deku won’t be able to suss out that there’s an ulterior motive behind the location. The restaurant is a real classy joint by the river, expensive food and even more expensive wine which makes Katsuki want to cry whenever he checks out the menu. Still, this night isn’t for him, but for Deku, and he’s going to make sure it’s a memorable one. He makes sure to dress in his finest suit, wearing the cologne that has Deku’s eyes widening with lust every time he gets a whiff, and actually attempts to comb his hair into something other than an explosion. Best Jeanist had attempted it during his internship, but his hair seems to have a mind of its own, because even Katsuki isn’t able to gel it into anything other than its natural state. It’s fine, he tells himself, furiously washing off the disgusting gel from his hands. He doesn’t need his hair to look different for this night. He just needs to be himself. He’s not prepared anything to say before offering Deku the ring, but he thinks there’s no better way to approach asking the love of his life to spend of the rest of his life with Katsuki other than spontaneously thrusting it upon him. Katsuki’s always been more explosive than calculating, and Deku seems to like that aspect of his personality, so that’s what he’s sticking with. Really, everything that evening had been going brilliantly. They’d been led to their table in the corner of the outside area of the restaurant, away from peering eyes and ears, and right by the river. Katsuki knows how much Deku loves how dark the river looks at night-time, and so he’d made sure that he got to sit closest to the wooden railing, allowing him to gaze down into the dark abyss. Katsuki had even made sure to reserve not only this table, but also the surrounding ones in order to give them the utmost privacy. Tonight’s proposal wasn’t for strangers’ delight, but Deku only. They’d ordered, chatted, eaten, drank, and enjoyed the evening to the fullest when Katsuki decides to reveal the true intentions of the night. Setting down his glass of wine, Katsuki clears his throat. “So, uh, you know it’s our anniversary, right?” Deku’s eyes glimmer with amusement. “Wasn’t that the whole point of going out tonight?” “Well, yeah,” Katsuki confirms, his free hand falling to the ring box in his trouser pocket. “But you know, there’s… it’s…” He breaks off with cough. “You okay?” Deku inquires, worry colouring his tone. “I’m fine,” Katsuki assures him with a quirk of the lips. “I just. Um. So, you know I love you, right?” Deku chucles. “Yeah.” “And I think you’re pretty great, and you think I’m pretty great.” “Yeah?” Deku drawls, a single brow rising high on his forehead. “Right. And well, since we both think we’re pretty great, and I love you, and you love me, it’s— I think— I mean, will you marry me?” Katsuki forces out in a rush, hastily placing the box on the table. It’s closed, so he hurries to open it up and display the ring to Deku. It’s a silver ring, two bands circling into one and a glittering diamond decorating the top. Katsuki had fallen in love with it on sight, picturing perfectly how good it would look sitting snugly on Deku’s ring finger. “No.” Katsuki’s heart stop. “...what?” Deku shakes his head, lips curving up into an apologetic smile. “It’s a ‘no’ from me.” It takes a few moments for the words to process in Katsuki’s mind, but when they do he falls back onto his default and most familiar emotion. Anger. “Deku, what the fuck?” He spits, hands clenching into fists. “Are you serious?” Deku just shrugs his shoulders. “What’s that supposed to mean?” Katsuki hisses, sitting up in his chair. “I ask you to marry me and you just fucking shrug? You don’t know? You don’t care? What does the shrug mean?” “I mean,” Deku begins in a placating tone, “I guess I don’t really know why you want to marry me.” “Why wouldn’t I?” “Why would you?” “Because I love you!” Katsuki snarls, eyes blazing. “Because I’ve known you since we were in fucking diapers and I still don’t think that’s enough time spent together. Because we’ve been by each other’s sides since eternity and I want to continue doing that until one of us dies. No, fuck that, even in the afterlife I want to be with you. I want to be with you because I’ve had you for years, and you’ve always had me since as far back as I can remember, and I sure as hell ain’t giving you up anytime soon, and I’m certain you’re not planning on giving me up too, so we might as well get married and make it fucking official!” By the end of his rant Katsuki is panting, lips quivered up in a growl as he stares down the asshole at the opposite side of the table who is… wait, is he fucking laughing? During the entirety of Katsuki’s yelling Deku’s had his hands covering his mouth, his shoulders shaking from the force of keeping down whatever was about to erupt out of him. By the time Katsuki reaches the end of his tirade, Deku can’t handle it anymore and the laughter bubbles out of him, clear and loud in the air of the night. “Oh my God, Kacchan,” He gasps, eyes watering. “I’m sorry. I’m so sorry. I knew you were going to propose tonight.” Katsuki jerks back. “What?” “I knew.” Deku repeats, tears pricking the side of his eyes. “You knew?” Katsuki repeats incredulously. Deku nods frantically. “Yep.” “That’s impossible, I thought of everything.” Katsuki argues, glowering at Deku. “How the fuck could you have known?” Deku pulls his hands away from his mouth, the occasional giggle escaping him. “Kacchan, are you serious? None of the tables around us have any people sat at them. It’s a Friday night at a super popular restaurant and every table but the ones directly surrounding us are filled?” Katsuki’s face burns up. “I wanted us to have some privacy!” “Which is nice,” Deku agrees, placing his hand over Katsuki’s in an effort to calm him down. “But was a dead giveaway.” He looks considering for a moment then admits, “Also you were really nice to me all day which made me realise something was up.” “Are you serious,” Katsuki groans, throwing his head back. “All this work and it didn’t even fucking matter in the end.” “It did.” Deku cooes, rubbing this thumb over Katsuki’s weather hand. “I thought it was sweet.” Katsuki brings his head forward again and peers at Deku. “You did?” “Mhm.” “Then why the fuck did you say ‘no’ when I asked you to marry me?” Katsuki bites out tersely, brows furrowed in annoyance. Deku shrugs and shakes his head with that irritating smile of his. “I don’t know? I wanted to see your reaction, I guess?” Katsuki stares Deku down for several moments, his piercing red eyes never straying from the mellow green that hold their own. The silence lasts for longer than necessary, until finally Katsuki peers down at the open box on the table. He picks it up and shoots Deku a glare. “I am so tempted to skip this ring in the water.” “No, it’s mine!” Deku wails around a laugh, diving for the box in Katsuki’s hand. He manages to extract the ring from its soft bedding and happily holds it up in admiration. It really is a beautiful piece of jewellery, Katsuki thinks as he watches Deku examine it. Deku makes to place it onto his fingers, but Katsuki interrupts when he reaches forward and takes it from him. “Let me do it.” He murmurs, taking Deku’s left hand into his own. He carefully slips the ring onto his finger, the sight causing his insides to sing with joy. Deku holds his hand up and wiggles his fingers. “How does it look?” Katsuki’s lips curve up into a smile as his eyes soften. “Perfect.” * What follows in the coming months is a lot of firsts for Katsuki, and he prays to any and every God that’ll listen that they’re also his last. He and Deku hire a wedding planner for the first time, and when they turn out to be a greedy bastard who only wants to organise the most expensive wedding in history, is promptly fired. They try cake-testing for the first time together, and even though Katsuki hates sweet things he pulls up his bootstraps and suffers through the whole ordeal for Deku’s sake. His fiancé. His soon-to-be-husband. The love of his life who has him try out twenty-three samples of cake before Katsuki is sick into the bakery’s bin and Deku is forced to make the ultimate decision all on his own. Deku still picks out a smaller cake for Katsuki that’ll be sat apart from the actual wedding cake, the size of Katsuki’s palm and covered in dark chilli chocolate, and Katsuki is reminded once again why he loves this man. It’s also the first time Katsuki asks Kirishima to be his best man, and it becomes another moment of Instant Regret when Kirishima hollers and embraces Katsuki into a tight hug that almost cuts off his air supply. “I’ve been waiting for this moment my entire life!” He hoots, ignoring the worried looks of the civilians who’re wondering why the Pro-Heroes on patrol are fighting in public. Honestly, there’s a lot of wedding firsts to weed through, but thankfully Deku and Kirishima seem more than happy to handle the brunt of it. Katsuki’s never been good at the finer details of anything really, so he just sits back and nods along as all the specifics of the wedding are slowly but steadily sorted, the image of how the final event will look like becoming clearer with every wedding-related activity completed. Deku actually assigns him a wedding activity which Katsuki finds laughable, as it just involves him having some alone time with the instruction ‘try not to panic about the wedding’. Well, the joke’s on Deku, because Katsuki’s fucking pumped to get married and spend the rest of his life with him. It’s easy, he’s been doing it since he was two years old, he’s got this shit down to a tee. He’s even already taken care of his vows which Kirishima, Kaminari and Ashido have all sat through several times as he re-wrote it to perfection, even staying behind at the office after hours to critique his work. It was also the first and only time, Katsuki allowed someone to critique his otherwise impeccable work. It’s also the first time he gets a bachelor party. He and Deku decide to have separate ones since not all of their friends coincide, and sure, even though most of the people at Katsuki’s bachelor party will also be making an appearance at Deku’s one, he has nowhere near as many friends at his soon-to-be life partner. Still, the party ends up being the fucking shit because Kirishima somehow manages to get them onto a car demolition compound for the night where they’ve got free reign to destroy any and all cars in the vicinity. Katsuki full on howls with joy and jumps onto the task with gusto, laughing maniacally as he flies around the compound exploding shit left, right and centre. Todoroki manages to get a recording of this and sends it off to Deku with a single sentence attached: this is the man you’ve chosen to marry. He gets just two words in response: No regrets. * The first time Katsuki sees Deku walking towards the altar with both his mum and All Might of all people leading him down, Katsuki feels like he’s seen a new colour. He can’t fathom what it would be like to see a new colour, but he imagines it must be similar to how he feels seeing Deku dressed in a sharp black suit with an expression of utter elation completing the look. Katsuki feels like he’s seen a new colour, and it turns out to be his favourite colour, one he didn’t know existed until it was there, walking down the aisle towards him. His favourite. * Katsuki wakes up to his first day of married life with a yawn that almost cracks his jaw. He lazily rubs at his face, smacking his lips as he blinks awake. There’s a warm weight on his chest hindering his movement and he looks down to see Boop’s black form curled up into a ball. Katsuki grunts, but runs his hand through their fur a few times. He cranes his neck to the side where he spots Deku, his green hair spilling out onto the pillow. He’s migrated to the side of the bed again, like he always does for some reason. The duvet rises and falls with every breath he takes, and Katsuki watches for several minutes before he grows bored. He doesn’t like being awake all on his own, especially not on a day as important as this one, and so he gently reaches out and shakes Deku until he begins muttering that he’s up. Deku turns in bed and raises his arms over his head, stretching out his muscles at the same time a yawn escapes him. He looks rather lovely like that, hair all mussed up with sleep and eyes still dazed. Katsuki leans forward, careful not to let Boop fall off his chest, and plants a good morning kiss onto that enviable mouth. A small chuckle bubbles out of Deku, and he sighs happily. Katsuki retreats back to his spot, gaze following Deku as he turns onto his side and looks to Katsuki. There’s a mischievous glint in his eyes, the green colour dancing in the light of the morning. Deku wets his lips, then parts them to softly whisper, “Gay.” Katsuki shoves him out of bed, Deku’s laughter cutting clear through their bedroom. Boop wails in distress, whiskers twitching as Katsuki’s hands holds them close. Yeah, there’s been a lot of firsts for Katsuki, and as long as Deku’s the one sharing them with him he’ll be fine. End Notes Hello! First time posting in the BNHA fandom and not sure if it'll be my last, but hope this contribution makes the fans happy. I've had this sitting on my laptop for a while now and just been reluctant to post it because I've got other fics to take care of (I'm terrible with responsibilities, sorry my other fics) Anyway, I hope any and all of you who manage to get through this monster of a oneshot enjoy it, and as always thank you for taking the time to read it! :) Please drop_by_the_archive_and_comment to let the author know if you enjoyed their work!
