They belong to Rowling and I am making no profit.   The great hall was full of students at the beginning of the new school year. The four tables buzzed about the new students who’d just been sorted and about the summers away from school. A young trio sat at one far end where they could hear nearly headless nick talking to one of the first years about the fact he’d once again been refused by Sir Patrick Delaney-Podmore the leader of The Headless Hunt because he was only nearly headless. Harry shook his head at the tail. Before his first year at Hogwarts he didn’t believe in an afterlife, now he didn’t think too much of it if it remained the same fashion of ‘living’ as it was in life. He smiled as he caught Hermione rolling her eyes, obviously just as impressed as he was. It was Ron who wasn’t paying attention at all but wolfing down his food as if he hadn’t eaten in days, at least it seemed as if he was growing for all the food given to him. Harry was surprised to find out that the redhead was a full head and a half taller than him when he’d visited after a very short stay at his Uncle’s over the summer. “I can’t wait!” Ron said between bites, his mouth still full of food. He stopped long enough to wash the previous bite down with pumpkin juice. “The sixth and seventh years get to have a masquerade party at the end of the month as a welcome back to school schtick. I always envied them, why couldn’t the younger years join the party anyway?” “Because they are supposed to be focusing on their studies, just like we should be doing instead of partying,” Hermione replied with a curt nod in Ron’s direction. “Besides, I heard they get quite rowdy enough with just the two years attending.” “Come off it ‘Mione. Studying day in and day out makes a normal person go insane! A little partying is a good way to stop focusing on school work for once.” “Are you calling me abnormal?!” “Anyone who studies as much as you do is abnormal.” Harry shook his head and continued to eat only one ear listening to to argument that bloomed off of a topic that should have been fun to talk about. The two have been arguing about the silliest things all summer and he had made a good record of keeping his nose out of it, he wasn’t about to put it in now. He was excited about the party he’d heard so much about. It was supposed to be casual, dress robes not required and people were allowed to dress up in anything. During the course of the dinner he remained silent as the two found more things to bicker about and wondered idly why they didn’t just start dating already, perhaps there would be less bickering and more lovey-dovey type stuff. Harry hoped the lovey-dovey stuff would be better than the fighting. The rest of the night went normally, they sang the school song with a flourish of good and bad singing voices and Harry made his way to the seventh floor alone. Hermione and Ron as prefects had to guide the first years to the Gryffindor Common room and to their dormitories. Harry decided not to hang back with them and headed to bed instead, the first day of classes always seemed the most tiring. The one class the trio were not in together wasn’t a class he would be happy to forgo the bickering between his two friends. Once Potions was no longer obligatory Ron decided not to continue to put himself at the mercy of one Professor Severus Snape. Or so he put it, in reality he hadn’t made the grades to continue in the course set ridiculously high, Harry had barely managed to get the minimum himself. Parts of him wondered why he didn’t take Ron’s route, however he needed Potions to become an Auror he reminded himself. What’s another two years of potions? The class grew silent when the door swung open to admit the dour Professor with black greasy hair to his shoulders and matching eyes that swept over the Sixth year classroom of Gryffindors and Slytherins. With the impressive flourish of his black robes Professor Snape walked to the front without a word and those eyes swept across once more landing on Harry and a sneer made its way onto the man’s pale mouth. “Mr Potter, this is not the time to visit with,” Snape’s lips twitched a moment in an apparent way to point out Hermione distastefully. “Friends. I’m certain you have a class to attend.” “I do,” Harry replied glaring over the rim of his glasses at the tall man ignoring the snickering from the Slytherin side of the room. “I’m where I should be, in class.” “Indeed. Your potion work is below satisfactory, I wonder how it is you got Potions on your schedule.” Snape replied with another sneer before he turned and begun with the lesson leaving the Slytherins to snicker and whisper about the implied friendship he had with the Headmaster. Pursing his lips Harry ignored it, Dumbledore wouldn’t step in to ensure Harry got the courses he needed. Right? “Can anyone tell me what I might use Jobberknoll feathers for?” Snape questioned the class as he waved his wand at the chalkboard. A piece of chalk flew up to write out Jobberknoll Feathers and paused waiting further instruction. Hermione’s hand shot up with a few other tentative ones, Harry looked around wearily realizing he didn’t even know what a Jobberknoll was. “Draco?” “Memory potions,” Draco said in his smug drawl but there was a note of hesitation to his voice, yet the chalk wrote it down after a small nod from Snape. “Correct Mr Malfoy, five points for Slytherin,” Snape said and looked around the classroom at his Slytherins. “There are two things I might use them for however. Can anyone come up with the second?” Hermione’s hand tried to go higher into the air and Harry had to wonder why she bothered. However it seemed Draco’s answer was the same as everyone else’s. Snape looked over the class with only one hand in the air left and gave an audible sigh of disappointment. “No one?” Snape asked ignoring the hand trying to touch the ceiling. “Well it seems to me that perhaps none of you should have made it into my class. If you were worthy you should all know how to make Veritaserum, one of the ingredients is Jobberknoll feathers.” Hermione’s hand dropped to her lap and Harry could see a white rim around her lips from pressing them tight together to keep from blurting out that she did indeed know how to make Veritaserum. Snape continued talking about the potion and assigned everyone to review the chapter on the truth serum and be ready to make it for the next class. Harry and Hermione left the dungeons at the end of class with an earful about just how much they should know already, heaven forbid that they open the textbook an learn more outside of class that hadn’t been brought up in class at all. Hermione couldn’t let go that Snape will never willingly call on her to answer any of his questions and Harry was trying to point out he’s done it since day one as his own form of punishment for the smart girl who’s Potter’s friend. “It simply isn’t fair,” Hermione said for the third time heading towards the Great Hall for their study period. “I understand if someone else had their hand up to give them a chance at answering. He treats me like I don’t even exist when he’s asking the class questions.” “He knows it bothers you ‘Mione, why else do you think he does it?” Harry asked heading towards where a tall freckled redhead was waving them over. “He is the Professor who enjoys to torture his students in any way possible.” “Yeah ‘Mione, why else do you think I quit taking Potions as soon as I could get,” Ron said sticking his nose into the conversation. “The Greasy Git does everything he could to torture us Gryffindors and give the lowest grades he could give without seeming like he was doing it a purpose.” “You weren’t even there Ron.” Hermione said in an exasperated voice sitting down and pulling out her books. “I wasn’t there for a reason ‘Mione and yet I know that he ignored you again, the Git’s done it for years. I don’t see why you don’t give up trying to get his attention, he’s not even good looking.” Ron retorted with a shrug and Harry shook his head as another argument broke out, now about whether Ron really thought she was trying so hard to answer questions to get Snape’s attention because she was attracted to him. The rest of the month went by fairly quickly, many of their evenings was finishing up on homework and sitting in their claimed seats by the fire in the Gryffindor common room. The work seemed harder than earlier years and Harry and Ron were struggling to get everything completed without having to stay up when the should be abed to do the homework. The days were ticking by for the end of month Masquerade Party that was at the end of this week. Some had started talking about who their dates were going to be a week earlier but Harry didn’t bother worrying, it was a party and dance partners were not required. “What are you going to wear to the dance?” Ron asked hoping to take a break from the schoolwork. Harry looked up from his homework and gave a small shrug, he had an idea but he didn’t know what Ron would make of it. He seemed to be asking Hermione anyhow. “Nothing,” Hermione said looking up and blinking at the blank stares from her friends. Guessing correctly they got the wrong idea from her comment. “What I mean is I don’t think I’m going.” “What? You’ve gotta go, it’s going to be the first party of the year!” Ron said in a louder voice than needed and got people looking their way peculiarly. “It’s not as if it’s on a school night, you’ll have two whole days afterward to finish school work and study.” “I don’t think dancing is the best use of my time Ron.” Hermione said setting down her quill when she realized the redhead wouldn’t let up until she made her point. “You set aside time for Hogsmeade, what’s the problem with setting aside for another sort of entertainment?” Ron asked so reasonably both Harry and Hermione stared at him. Harry had feared this was going to turn out into another argument, which would have been the second that day. “You’ve got a point,” Hermione said finally seeming to come to an agreement point with Ron instead of nitpicking over every detail. “Perhaps it wouldn’t hurt, this once.” Harry rolled his eyes but returned to his school work. He’d picked out his outfit in Hogsmeade the weekend before, it would be only a few moments before Hermione started fretting about the fact she had to throw together an outfit from her clothes now that she decided to go after all. The night of the dance Harry made his way down from his dormitory wearing an emerald green vest with gold embroidery and a pair of black pants that hugged him like a second skin. For a mask it was a regular black one with hints of dark green shining when the light struck it and gold accents around the edges. He pulled at the hem of the vest that didn’t end at the pant line leaving an inch of his abdomen exposed. He was a little self conscious now that he was actually wearing it for others to see with no shirt beneath it. He smiled when he received an appreciative smile from Hermione, Ron had made fun of him for it when he was changing. “That vest is beautiful Harry,” Hermione said when Harry stopped next to her. She had managed a nice outfit for herself wearing a knee length pink skirt and a white spaghetti strap top with a pink sparkle flower as a print. The mask she wore was pink with a white leaf trim. “Can you see alright without your glasses?” “Hermione, you’re the one who put the charm on me to not need my glasses for the night, I would hope so.” Harry said shaking his head, it was odd not having to wear glasses but the mask made it less bothersome than having nothing on his face. He wished he could charm his eyes permanently at times but it would need him getting used to not wearing anything on his face. “You look very.. nice ‘Mione.” “Are we done complimenting the extravagant outfits?” Ron asked standing near the exit waiting impatiently. “We’re going to be late.” “What’s wrong Ron? Do you have a date you haven’t told us about?” Harry asked but he made his way to the exit with Hermione beside him. He watched the red creep away from Ron’s ears and gave a grin. “Who is it?” “I don’t have a date, I just want to get there.” Ron retorted and headed out without waiting for an answer. Harry shook his head and glanced at Hermione to see if she had believed him. “Hasn’t he heard of being fashionably late?” Hermione asked in a tone that said she didn’t like to be rushed. Harry felt the same but the made their way out of the common room together all the same. The entrance way was decorated with floating streamers and candles precariously close together. Harry looked to Ron and Hermione wearily, if Peeves decided to come to ruin the night it would be simple to set fire to the ceiling. The doors were open to the decorated grounds looking much like they always had during celebrations with hedges taller than the tallest person, Harry knew that there would be benches out there hidden amongst the hedges for privacy for lovers. It also made for a nice escape though from the noisy room that was the Great Hall. Harry nearly stumbled when he walked into the Great hall. Four steps led down into the altered room with the newly sunken floor, something that made all the newcomers nearly stumble over if they didn’t watch their feet and notice the difference. The room was decorated much like the entrance hall. Tables occupied half the room and lined the edges of the dance floor, on the other side of the room was a stage on which a band was playing. Many students were already dancing and the teachers wandered around the Hall keeping an eye on things. The trio headed to an unoccupied table finding themselves bottled butterbeer being offered to them on flying service trays. Helping themselves they sat down and listened to the music at first. As the night wore on Hermione was asked to dance, then Ron and Harry was left alone to watch his friends dance. He wasn’t certain if he minded or not, it’d look odd if he danced with the gender he preferred to dance with especially with the way things were in the wizarding world about homosexuality. He didn’t know if he’d be comfortable dancing with girls either. Still when a girl asked him to dance he accepted because he didn’t want to continue sitting there alone like some rejected loser. One dance turned into two, then five all with different girls hoping to get his attention. After the fifth he escaped with the reason needing fresh air and had to decline the offers of having a companion as he did so. Grabbing a fresh bottle of butterbeer on the way out, he went to wander the maze of hedges with the hush of muffled voices behind hedges hiding benches. The cool air was nice on his skin after feeling hot and sticky with sweat after so much dancing he enjoyed the time alone along the paved walkways of the grounds. Walking around alone was nice for a while, but soon he felt lonely and began to make his way back to the Great Hall lost in thought about things a common teenage boy thought about when there was nothing else to think about. He was distracted enough to forget the steps and this time did stumble down the steps and would have fallen to the floor if someone much taller than him hadn’t caught him, the person’s arms wrapped around him to keep him upright as he got his feet beneath him. It was then though that he inhaled the man’s scent and all of a sudden he didn’t mind being in the person’s arms and he felt the man stiffen when he nuzzled closer and his hands fisted in robes without noticing he was doing such things. Looking up to see who his savior was his eyes widened behind his mask and though his mind told him to jolt backwards his body didn’t want to. There was an odd look in those obsidian eyes before a look of disgust passed through them and the arms drew away, and Snape backed away from him instead when his own body continued not to listen. His cheeks flushed and his hands released the fistfuls of robes they held onto restraining Snape from going too far without causing a scene. Licking his lips he forced his eyes to look away and mumble a thanks for catching him as his mind reeled about the emotions that swam through his head and body. The scent of the man was intoxicating and made him want to return to the man’s embrace something he knew shouldn’t be the case. The two of them hated each other, why was it that he seemed to be developing some sort of crush over the man because of the way he smelt. He’s handsome in his own way as well, a lingering voice in his head reminded him of the time he might have been willing to accept the idea when he was just realizing his sexuality when it was Snape who first made him realize there was some beauty to be found in men. When he looked up again Snape was gone to Harry’s relief and he grabbed a new butterbeer and sat out the rest of the night declining invitations to dance and trying not to focus on the tall Professor making his way around the room avoiding anyplace near Harry entirely. He didn’t mind that at all, at least his rational self didn’t. The irrational self wanted him to walk over to the tall man and declare undying love. What was wrong with him? When the night was over and he was in his bed trying to sleep, unwelcome images of the dark haired man swam behind closed eyelids and when he did sleep it was dreams about the Professor with pale skin and dark obsidian eyes calling him to share his bed. When he awoke the next morning he headed to the privacy of the private showers to wash away the effects the dreams had over him. ***** Uncomfortable Truths ***** The dance was over long after the dark haired wizard wanted it to be as he stalked out after the last trailing students, his presence only making the students hurry to bed faster at the sight of the annoyed expression on the Potion Master’s face. His feet took him down into his dungeons to stop in front of a portrait of a large snake and speaking the password before stalking into his private suite. His dark eyes surveyed the room even when his wards told him no one but house elves had been in his residence since he’d last been there. Walking over to the liquor cabinet he poured himself a glass of Firewhiskey enjoying the burn of it down his throat and ignored the effects that it had on his person. Not many things would lead him to the drink because of the effects that affected him worse than it would humans as unlike food it was only partly poisonous to his body. Harry Bloody Potter being his mate was a damn good reason however to drown himself in the bitter tasting drink and hope that his system would reject the severe effects of the poison. With a low growl he sat down in a worn armchair that sat a safe distance from the fire, the heat still reached his unnaturally cold skin reminding him of how warm Potter’s body had been against his earlier that night. With another growl and look of disgust he drained the glass of Firewhiskey and returned it to the cabinet with a word before he decided to see if he could throw it there and watch it shatter. The one compatible mate he had in the world for the moment and it had to be the son of the man who’d made his teenage years despicable. Yet the part of him that wanted a mate was fighting with the note that it wasn’t so bad, that at least Potter wasn’t a weak wizard and the boy’s power spoke for itself in it’s right to suit Severus; even if the Potion making skills lacked substantially. “Of all students..” Severus muttered, uncharacteristically pursing his lips. That was another fact that he had to consider. Teacher - student relations were prohibited for all obvious reasons, but as it was until Potter passed away there still lingered the fact that he would be his one mate for years to come if he lived a long life. Severus pushed himself out of the seat and paced the room precariously close to the fire enough so that he had to watch that his robes wouldn’t catch aflame from some idle spark. Instinct and common sense battled on in is head outside the worry of the flames. He despised the insolent brat as much as he had despised his father yet after bumping into Potter that night his body yearned for that touch again the thought of the brief moments that the boy held him sent his mind heading in an inappropriate direction. With a swift turn on his heel, his robes brushing the stone mantle as he spun a purposeful distraction to keep his mind from wandering as his dark eyes made certain no smoke was coming from his robes. If the boy was even someone different than the one he despised he was still just that though a boy, who was about to be extremely confused about why he was longing for the detested teacher of the school. Instincts told him to ignore common sense. That in time the befuddled hatred that was trying to remain in place as he argued that the boy couldn’t possibly his mate, couldn’t possibly be remotely compatible with him would truly be replaced with the bubbly feelings of love that was trying to replace it already thanks to his instinctual drive. Gritting his teeth he denied himself from focusing on it. If he did he might find himself finding the boy in his dormitory and take him away to his home where he could serve as a wife. The only thing he could do was ignore it and avoid Potter at all costs, something that would be very hard when the boy was in his Potions class. He doubted the boy would have any self control, or any that he had would be lost to the instincts that would set him to want to jump Severus the moment he caught his scent once more. “Damn it..” Severus muttered pausing to set his forehead against the cool stone of the mantle his eyes staring into the dangerous flames that for a moment asked him to join them in their dance of strange beauty. He would have to keep up normal appearances, but he didn’t know if he’d be able if the boy acted on instinct and came in contact with him again. Turning away from the flames he went and poured himself another glass of Firewhiskey ignoring the fact it might cause him to lose his own self control over the night. Instead he strengthened the wards around his rooms, warding it against himself from leaving until the alcoholic poison was out of his system in case his state decided to act on instinct anyhow. He walked into his chilled bedroom of black and red decorations a mute opposite of the black and green in his living room. Undressing he smiled as he felt the cold begin to sink into his pale skin as his body temperature slowly began to return to normal as he sipped his quickly chilling drink. When he lay down for the night finally he fell unconscious as his body reacted violently to the poison but he didn’t know anything of it until he awoke when the alarms told him to wake. *~* Harry had gotten little sleep after returning from the party earlier than most. He found it disturbing to always constantly wanting to be watching Snape and even getting the nerve to leave had been difficult. What was wrong with him? It was like bumping into the man and breathing in his scent had put a spell of infatuation over him and every spare thought was on the teacher he should and did detest up until that point. Turning to Hermione on the way to Potions his body seemed to hum as he got closer to the teacher that claimed his thoughts. “Hermione, is there a spell that would cause a person to.. become infatuated with the person they bump into? Or say a scent of something?” Harry asked hesitantly. He wasn’t going to say anything about it being Professor Snape who he had found unexplainable feelings for so much that he was restraining himself from running ahead. “I can’t say I’ve come across such a spell Harry,” Hermione replied her voice thoughtful as Harry continued walking even when she stopped. It took him a moment to get himself to pause for her to keep pace with him again. “There are perfumes and colognes that are embedded with pheromones that cause the person who scents them to gain an unruly attraction for a short period of time so long as they smell the scent, but it would affect everyone who would be within range to smell them. Why Harry? Is there something wrong? I can’t imagine you’d be wanting to cast that sort of spell over a girl, it’s not right.” “No.. nothing’s wrong.” Harry said shaking his head with a sigh. If there wasn’t a spell to it and the cologne wasn’t long lasting and had affected only him what could it be? Biting his lip for a moment he gave a smile to Hermione who continued to look at him worriedly. “Don’t worry ‘Mione, spelling a person to fall in love with me isn’t my intention at all.. I was just curious.” Harry knew that Hermione was still watching him but he walked into the Potions classroom and took a seat. He didn’t understand the calling his body had to Snape’s, he felt the man approaching and bit his lip. There was no explanation of liking the man that tortured him so much over the past five years, going on sixth. He couldn’t ask anything more of Hermione he knew she would guess the problem was him he’d need to go to the library alone and try to find something on his own. His eye turned to the door even before it opened and he struggled to remain in his seat, he never had the best sense of smell but yet he could catch a whiff of the man’s scent that was so intoxicating as he walked to the front without a glance his way. Throughout class he fidgeted and even with all the mistakes he made, so far as his cauldron bubbling over and beginning to melt the wood table the Professor paid him no attention. Harry looked at Hermione rather confused at that point and though she had no answer to it Harry wondered if the man would know something of what was going on if it affected him. He could at least question at the risk of sounding stupid if there was a potion that would cause a person to become irrationally infatuated to a person just by the person’s scent. He wondered idly if that was just giving himself away though, if Snape was just ignoring the constant faults in hope Harry would give up trying to keep up in Potions he would be laughed out of the man’s classroom if the Professor was one to laugh. After class he managed to knock over his bag and make it seem like an accident. Hermione paused as he stooped down to gather everything that fell out but Harry could see she wanted to get to class in time, something he had been expecting. “Go on. I’ll catch up.” He told her, his voice raspy with nerves but there was nothing he could do. With a last glance at him though she nodded and left the classroom. “Hurry up Potter, if your work in this class is any evidence to the rest of your schoolwork tardiness wouldn’t be wise,” Snape said as Harry managed to stuff the last text book in his bag finally. Biting his lip he stared up at the Professor suddenly nervous and excited they were alone in the room together. “Sir, I have a question..” Harry began slowly his feet taking him closer to the man’s desk. He could feel those dark eyes on him and for a moment it seemed as if the older man was undressing him with his eyes. The man said nothing though and made no motion for him to go on. Licking his lips he was ready to just give up fighting and allow his body to do as he wanted. Severus watched Potter nervously, the boy waiting until after class to act hadn’t been something he’d expected but if something were to happen at least there’d be no witnesses. He kept his face in the emotionless expression waiting for the boy to continue, to question why he had all of a sudden began liking him the moment he bumped into him. The boy never spoke though and after a few minutes even his uncharacteristically patient self was slipping away quickly as the boy’s scent continued to lure him nearer and his self control was slowly failing. “What is it Potter?” He demanded finally, frustration making him at least sound like his normal self. Harry blinked, he’d spent the time staring at Snape wondering why it was so bad that he had begun to like him. He jumped a bit startled the man’s voice reminding him as to why it was so bad. “Is.. there a potion that makes it possible to fall in love with the person after merely breathing in their scent?” He was fighting himself from going closer knowing he might just jump the man if he allowed himself too close and he didn’t want that.. and yet he liked being alone in the room with the man anyhow. Severus’ lips twitched at the idea the boy had gotten. Probably thinking he’d gotten the one dosed butterbeer in the party as just his luck. At least the boy was muggle raised, he might have come to a different conclusion far too soon. A part of him remained impressed, he always assumed the boy lacked self control but he knew the feelings would be stronger for Potter than it was for him, annoying as they were. “No Potter there is not. You would know that love potions rely on the person’s essence being present in the potion, not a mere scent on idle passing would influence it. You’d know this if you read the section of love potions in your text. Now go before I decide to remove twenty points for stupidity.” Harry felt his spirits fall when Snape had given proof his idea had indeed been stupid. He paused for a moment involuntarily as he tried to fight with whatever control he had but he managed to flee before Snape came true on his threat. He ignored grumbles from Gryffindors as points were subtracted for being tardy to the class he had been missing while staring at the dark hair wizard in the dungeons. Hermione looked at him as if questioning where he had been but he shrugged and pretended to pay attention to the lesson but made plans of heading to the library after hours. When everyone was abed and Ron’s snoring told him his friend was asleep Harry carefully crawled out of bed and pulled a robe on over his pajamas. Grabbing invisibility cloak and map he left the common room. It was slow progress as he hunched beneath the cloak to keep his feet from showing and avoiding teachers and moving around obstacles. Biting his lip he let himself into the library and with a cautious look around and another glance at the map to ensure no one was around slid the cloak from his shoulders and sighed realizing he had no idea what to actually look for in a book. “Locator spell it is then..” Harry said in a small voice casting a spell looking for anything that would explain inexplicable infatuation. He moved through the shelving units of books picking up the ones his spell had pointed him to and took the small pile of books to a far table no where near the door. Setting the map in clear view he began to look through the book titles marking titles down for later if he didn’t get through the ten books that sate before him. He bit his lip when three of the four of the books was a book of some form on magical creatures, his curiosity peeked he began flipping through one of the four to find the entry that had brought this book and perhaps the others if there was a common creature in the four. He didn’t think it would make sense though, would it mean that Snape is a magical creature of some sort that has a spell over him? If that were the case why wasn’t Snape acting on it if he wanted him so.. His body was willing enough and when he was near the man even his mind couldn’t think up a protest. Severus wandered the corridors for students out of bed, unlike most teachers he didn’t mind the shifts of staying up. He didn’t need too much sleep and walking around the halls was far less constricting than pacing his rooms when sleep would not come. As he began to pass the library door however he paused his brow furrowing. He looked into the dark room his nose in the air, he couldn’t see any light but he knew Potter was in the library. Feeling a small sense of dread it was about what was affecting him, he walked into the library following the scent of his mate to a back corner where he was stooped over some book with his back to him. Approaching soundlessly Severus looked over the boy’s shoulder, or began to do so as Potter’s scent overwhelmed him. Biting back a sound as he closed his eyes he got control of himself once more to look at the page Harry was just flipping to the ornate writing above a blue eyed humanoid creature with sallow skin and sunken cheeks was the word ‘Vampire’ wondering how far the boy had read into it already part of him wanted to say this would be easier than explaining so it’d be simpler to claim him. Forcing himself to step a respectable distance to the side still giving him a good view of the title he narrowed his eyes trying to play the ass of a teacher he didn’t want to be with his mate, rather irrationally when he thought of it. “Late night reading on the creatures seen mostly at night Potter?” Harry jumped suddenly looking up from reading the beginning of the chapter on vampires. He stood up awkwardly as Snape waved his wand an the books shut and went flying to their places on the shelves. His body’s reactions seemed to have stilled in his concentration on trying to find the answer he hadn’t noticed the man’s presence. Now though as he stood staring up at Snape admiring how handsome the man was rather than worrying about being caught out of bed. Those eyes narrowed at him further as he began to step forward and Snape stepped back as if purposely keeping a distance from him. “What has you so interested in vampires Potter that you cannot wait until daytime to look them up?” Severus snarled all too aware the boy was losing self control, he could smell the scent of arousal off the boy and it was harder to ignore instinct then. So whenever Harry approached he backed away acting far out of character but keeping himself from jumping the boy. “I was looking something else up I hadn’t wanted anyone to know about... I was trying to see why three magical creature books had come up in my spell..” Harry said feeling as if someone had slipped him veritaserum when he couldn’t keep himself saying more than he needed which was all of that. What happened to the simple lies he could make up around Snape. “Find anything interesting Potter?” Snape sneered at him and he shook his head biting back a comment that had to do until he had gotten there. “Then I suggest you return to your dormitory.” “Y-yessir,” Harry muttered grabbing up his things quickly glancing over to Snape longingly and he knew the older man had seen it for he had turned away. Harry again had to force himself to turn away from the man and get walking pausing when Snape called his name. “Potter, report to my office after supper tomorrow for detention,” Snape said and made an uncharacteristic shooing motion. Rather confused Harry nodded and left the library sliding beneath the invisibility cloak to avoid being seen by others. Never had he been so happy about getting a detention.. it was strange. But he’d get to be alone with Snape even if the excuse wasn’t the reason he wanted. Severus watched Potter walk away wondering what he was getting himself into by letting himself be alone with his mate. He sighed he’d simply have to make certain it was something that he didn’t need to be looming over his shoulder to supervise, if they didn’t get too close Potter might still hold onto self control and he could at least watch the object of his heart’s reluctant desire. “What do you know about vampires?” Harry asked Hermione over lunch. There was something that had bothered him about the night before about how Snape had been acting giving a vague form of interest if he found anything out. He hadn’t the chance to get to the library yet and probably wouldn’t that day unless he snuck out at night again. “They’re creatures that feed off of humans,” Ron said between mouthfuls of food and Harry shook his head. Leave it to Ron to give him the answer he already knew about. “There’s more to them than that Ronald.” Hermione said tersely turning away from the tall redhead to look at Harry once more. Her look once again was questioning, it wasn’t often Harry asked of things that would be considered extra work to both him and Ron and two days in a row was peculiar. “What is it you want to know?” “Well.. all I know about them is from Muggle depictions,” Harry said slowly, the paragraph he managed to read before being interrupted the night before a vague reminder of that because it was stating Muggle thinking was clearly wrong as it was with all things magical. Hermione just shook her head knowing too well he had yet to pick up even one of the magical creatures textbooks that they had assigned to them at the beginning of the year, nor even the Defense Against the Dark Arts books. “The only things that are correct about Muggle depictions is that they drink blood and the two solutions to kill them from a Muggle standpoint is fire or the chopping off their head, stake to the heart merely paralyzes them.” Hermione said falling into lecture mode to the dissatisfaction of Ron by the sigh the redhead given, yet Harry spotted some interest but perhaps it was because he was learning how Muggles seen the a Magical Creature that bothered both wizards and Muggles alike. “Sunlight has no effect on them other than an annoyance and too long in it speeds up the need to feed. In a human lifetime they only have one truly compatible mate, when that mate is turned or dies if the vampire is unable to find him or her at the time and moves on to another compatible mate. Of course it’s possible for them to fall for another but they don’t have the ease of their pheromones to dispel any negative feelings and ensures that they would be willing when in different circumstances they wouldn’t unless the vampire worked on it.” “In other words a vampires mate is a slave to lust over them and let them do what they like and they can still call it consensual because the human or wizard is begging for it.” Ron stated in a simpler way than Hermione’s explanation. Harry frowned, hadn’t Hermione mentioned pheromones the day before that would make a person irrationally infatuated with a person and is caused by scent? He looked up at the head table but Snape wasn’t in the hall for lunch, he never was. Why had the man been concerned about him learning any of that? Was it the Professor was a vampire and he Harry was his.. Harry shook his head. The idea was preposterous, whatever was going on with what he felt for Snape was just some annoying prank someone had pulled on him.. yet he couldn’t wait to be alone with Snape that night alone, even for detention. He really needed a better explanation. *~* Severus knew Potter was there but he waited for the nock before calling to the boy to enter. He looked up from his papers at set them down his nose flaring as his small office was filled with that enticing scent. He motioned to the pile of dirty cauldrons and returned his focus to grading papers doing his best to ignore the boy that was in the privacy of his office all to aware that if something did happen they were now in a lot more private place than the library. Harry glanced at Snape, any thought of self control was slowly slipping away as he tried to focus on the task set before him. The scent was overbearing in the small space and even without contact his body was reacting way too readily for Harry’s liking. Gritting his teeth he scrubbed at the cauldrons harder getting the greasy and oily substances off in hard scrubs purposely to stop anything he didn’t truly want from happening even if his body seemed to beg for him to climb onto Snape’s lap. Severus fidgeted as Potter’s scent became steadily more aroused the longer he was in his presence, the work made a sheen of sweat coat Harry’s skin as Severus watch his body beginning to react as he did wishing scrubbing cauldrons wasn’t what was making the boy sweat. Severus gouged his hand with his quill before he did something stupid realizing giving Potter detention was already a stupid thing, making it a reason to be alone in a private room. He wished the boy would stop cleaning those pots with such vigor, the sweat was only making the scent so much stronger for him. “Okay. That’s enough!” Severus said when he couldn’t take much more as he looked at Potter when the boy turned. His eyes lingered on the aroused and sweaty body for a moment again needing to remind himself with pain that Potter was off limits. When Potter only stared at him confused though he looked at the boy with an annoyed look. “Go. Your detention is complete.” Harry blinked realizing that Snape was letting him off early, he wasn’t nearly half way finished with the cauldrons but the man was letting him go. Shaking his head he wanted to stay longer but the man was annoyed about something and Harry did think he wanted to stick around and take the brunt of the man’s anger. Turning Harry hurried out of the office and made his way up to the Room of Requirement not surprised very much that when the room opened for him so he could deal with his arousal in complete privacy a portrait of Snape hung on the wall robes hanging open to reveal a pale chest. Staring at the dark haired wizard his imagination got away from him and he was making small sounds as he was enveloped by strong arms and was kissed so passionately. The longing was horrible though, the dream dripping away back to reality as his eyes focused the still portrait once more. Even as an imagining it felt as though it could become the reality he wanted, to be cared for unconditionally and never be alone again. Down in the dungeons Severus Snape growled as the spell broke, cursing Potter fluidly he flung the glass of red liquid against the mantle watching it shatter and it’s contents drip down almost beautifully. Somehow their minds had begun to bond with nothing more than being in another’s presence going against what he knew, of what his mentor had taught him. Severus had been locked in place living through Potter’s imaginings just as vividly as if they were his own, and perhaps in a way they were. Pursing his lips he waved his wand at the mess and stalked to the bathroom, he needed a cold shower before bed in hopes of ridding himself of another scene of his own. ***** Speculations ***** Disclaimer: I do not own Harry Potter or anything associated with it. They belong to Rowling and I am making no profit.   “Do you think Snape’s a vampire?” Harry asked his friends on day after he returned from the room of requirement after another evening spent in detention. Snape had again sent him away early. He had picked up his school books to try get homework done before bed but his mind returned to the everlasting question and he didn’t think airing it to his friends would tell them he was under some sort of spell. “He’s certainly pale enough,” Ron said looking up from the essay he was getting through slowly. The red head shrugged though considering the possibility. “He’s obsessed enough in black as well.” “Professor Snape might be a git, but there’s no reason to speculate he’s a vampire all of a sudden,” Hermione said glaring over at both of them over the top of a textbook. “Besides if you even read of anything about vampires after you first asked me, you’d know they have blue eyes, which turn a dull red when they fall into a blood frenzy if they don’t go feeding for too long.” Harry failed to see where he had the time to look up things outside his classwork when he’d been getting detentions, purposely however. He was doing anything to get alone with the professor but the man wasn’t making it as easy as he’d like. It used to be simple mistakes in Potions would land him detentions, now the man acted as if he ignored them or even attributed it to a common mistake when it was the man’s presence making him not concentrate on what he was doing. He’d resorted to pranks at times to get at least a couple night’s detentions but they were always cut short just as he couldn’t stand not doing anything. “What’s with your curiosity about the old git anyhow?” Ron asked him and Harry looked up at him looking slightly confused. “I may not be in Potions, but I’ve heard of some pranks. Are you trying to lose your head? Or are you following my brothers’ footsteps?” Harry looked away before the redhead would spot the tinge of pink that had covered his cheeks. Licking his lips he gave a small shrug. “It’s time he felt tortured some.” “Why couldn’t you do it when I was in class? I could have helped you!” Ron demanded making Harry look back at him startled a grin twitching at his lips. “I’d give anything to see the old bugger’s face after a really good prank.” “Perhaps you should have got the grades to continue then,” Harry said with a shrug. There was one trick he’d like to do but Snape is never seen eating or drinking anything. Though he is at the dinner meat at the head table if one watched him, and Harry did watch him, he didn’t touch a thing. Harry knew that teachers eating there for breakfast and dinner were mandatory or at least their presence but he wondered if the man was that careful. “Have you two noticed he never eats?” “What do you mean? He’s at breakfast and dinner all the time,” Ron said looking confused. “He’s there, but he never touches anything.” “Why do you think he wouldn’t eat anything?” “He’s had a rough life, you both know that. Perhaps he doesn’t trust food he himself doesn’t make.” Hermione told them with an exasperated sigh as he glared at them for gossiping on the hated teacher. “Of course if you want to continue on the vampire way of things food is poisonous to them. Alcohol is the only thing that vampires can drink without a dangerous reaction, presumably so it’d be easier to lure victims out of bars if they joined the social rank. Muggles might not notice them purposely not touching the stuff but wizards or witches would most likely notice it.” “Another point of him being a vampire then,” Ron said looking at her curiously once more. “The blue eyes can be hidden by a glamour, so the fact he doesn’t have blue eyes isn’t the only thing to base that he is not a vampire on.” Harry nodded his agreement and Hermione rolled her eyes to return to her book with a shrug, she’d brought it up again but there wasn’t any real proof it was just speculation. Ron was pulled over to think similarly to Harry but he looked at the fire as he thought. “You don’t think Dumbledore would have hired him if he knew he was a vampire would he?” “Why not?” Harry asked looking at Ron, if there were ways for werewolves to function normally in a society, why not vampires as well? “Lupin’s a werewolf and he’d hired him.” “There’s potions for werewolves though Harry,” Hermione said giving up on her textbook when she couldn’t go on ignoring the two. “To my knowledge there hasn’t been one created successfully for vampires.” “Snape is a Potion’s Master though,” Harry reasoned as he stood up to pace, his homework for the night was long forgotten. “If he were a vampire wouldn’t you think he’d try to create a potion for himself? He’s obviously got the capabilities.” “Why did you start thinking he was a vampire anyhow Harry?” Hermione asked when she didn’t have anything else to point out against the idea. She was still curious about all the interest in both vampires and Snape. “I don’t know,” Harry said moving to sit down again with a sigh. It wasn’t exactly a lie but he wasn’t about to tell his friends he had begun having feelings for the man. When he wasn’t near him he could think rather clearly and remember why he hated him, why he should hate him but whenever he was near Snape he couldn’t think anymore and the only thing stopping him from jumping the man was there were students in class with him and he forced himself to focus on the task Snape set him during detention. “Tell me Mr Potter, you’ve always been a rule breaker but tell me this. Why does it seem you are trying my patience on purpose?” Severus asked in his best teacher voice as he stared down his nose at the boy blatantly walking the halls without so much as his invisibility cloak. Severus has been putting up with all the messes and pranks and cursing Potter every step of the way while he was forcibly giving him detentions. Of course he knew the reasons, Potter’s body was tempting him to do anything to get close to him but the boy hadn’t done much but do the work he told him without so much as a word to him. If the boy’s plan was to get close and woo him he wasn’t doing a great job. “I’m sorry if you’re taking it personally Sir,” Harry said looking up at the tall man doing his best not to fidget beneath those intense obsidian eyes. Inside he was laughing to himself, he was catching an insight to the man who never asked for excuses before now. Perhaps the man was different than he’d thought he was, it’d be nice to be proven correct. “As you said I’m always a rule breaker, I gotta keep up that image.” Severus sneered down at the boy, he was hardly in the mood for Potter’s cheek and yet he was amused that he’d regained some function other than utterly staring. Something he wasn’t catching himself doing as his eyes roamed over the lightly tanned skin, took in those beautifully emerald eyes and full lips. His eyes slid over Potter’s neck and licked his lips as he listened in the silence the sound of the boy’s heart beat and the gush of flowing blood. With a blink he was back and realized Potter was asking him if he was alright. “Yes, yes Potter. Go back to bed and report for detention at the regular time.” He turned away and hall duty or not rushed to his rooms before making certain Potter did as he was told. Harry watched Snape leave with a startled look, one would think he was the teacher telling the man to do as he’d been told. He returned to the common room in deep thought, Snape was acting entirely different and what he’d seen he didn’t think it was exactly a good way. Harry could remember those eyes on him taking in every inch of skin exposed, Harry’s cheeks heated even at the memory of it. When the eyes had gotten to his neck though Harry had seen the need in the man’s eyes as he licked pale lips, a quick dash of pink breaking seemingly white skin in the eerie light emitted from their wands. That was when the man seemed to lose all composure and had taken a step toward him and Harry wanted to close the distance so badly but instead asked if the man was alright. He looked into the embers of the dying fire in the fireplace. If Snape was a vampire he knew the man was wanting to feed by what he’d seen, but even though he had his suspicions about the man he was wanting to go forward and let him feed. He shivered in the warm room as he imagined being held in those arms as teeth sunk into his neck. It was strangely erotic and he felt himself get hard thinking about it. He fell into one of the armchairs with a sigh, would he really be alright with dating a vampire? He shook his head, not in rejection but at his folly. Snape was a teacher and though ass he might be he wouldn’t get into a relationship with a student, life mate or not. Harry woke the next morning still in the arm chair and looked at the time and gasped it was middle of first period and it was potions. Why hadn’t Hermione waken him? He got up and ran upstairs to get changed and ran back down to spot Hermione walking in and giving a smile. “Oh you’re up good. I was just about to wake you if you weren’t. Why’d you sleep in the armchair anyhow?” “I wasn’t able to sleep and I didn’t want to wake the others,” Harry said looking at the girl rather confused, why wasn’t she in class. “Why didn’t you wake me?” “Potion’s has been cancelled for the day for some reason,” Hermione said holding him a napkin of cold toast which he accepted with thanks anyhow. “I thought you might’ve wanted to sleep in. Though I don’t know how comfortable an armchair could really be.” “Oh.. Thanks.” Harry mumbled taking a bite of toast. Potions was cancelled? Was Snape alright? He’d looked okay the night before, aside from the time he’d spent staring at him. He had also run from him, perhaps the man wasn’t alright. “Does anyone have any idea as to why?” “No Harry. Though I dislike missing classes, I didn’t think there was a need to ask around,” Hermione answered looking at Harry oddly. Was he really wanting to go to class? “Oh, sorry.” Harry mumbled again sighing, he wasn’t thinking straight. Perhaps he should go down to ask if his detention was pushed to the next day as well, ignoring the feeling that was telling him he was just wanting to make certain the man was alright. Shaking his head he pushed the idea aside. “Where had you been?” “Library,” Hermione told him as if he didn’t need to ask. “First class is almost over, we better head to Defense Against the Dark Arts.” Harry nodded slightly and followed Hermione out of the common room and towards class but he was still thinking of Snape and wondering the reason as to why class was cancelled. By the time classes was over Harry was anxious to be done with dinner. Snape wasn’t at the head table and neither was Dumbledore, sighing he stared at his food and ate quickly. He didn’t know why but he was more anxious to see Snape than usual since all this started, biting his lip he excused himself and left dinner early to head down into the dungeons. Harry stood at Snape’s office door for a moment and knocked, he was waiting for Snape to answer when he spotted Dumbledore walking out from behind a portrait from a room hidden behind it. Spotting Harry Dumbledore looked confused and paused. “Harry, my boy. Do you need anything from Professor Snape?” “Uh, no Professor.” Harry said glancing at the office door knowing already that Snape wasn’t in it. “I just have a detention with Professor Snape and wasn’t certain if it was cancelled as well.” “Oh, yes..” Dumbledore said giving Harry a look to say he shouldn’t be getting in such trouble still. “One moment Harry.” Harry stood waiting while Dumbledore disappeared into the room once more, the portrait swinging closed once more behind him. Biting his lip he realized the room must be Snape’s personal quarters, even if he hadn’t needed to come down for his detention he was glad that he had. Dumbledore reappeared and told him to come in. Harry looked around the small living room in colors of green and black and was surprised to see a small kitchenette with a muggle fridge. His eyes returned to the Potion’s Master who sat in one of the armchairs and for a moment he was uncomfortable remembering the night before he heard the portrait close behind him and Dumbledore was nowhere to be seen. Looking back to Snape the man looked well enough and those eyes weren’t focusing on his neck and seemed to try not to focus on Harry himself. He wondered idly if the man was attracted to him just as inexplicably as Harry was to the older man. Biting his lip his eyes looked around again as the silence between them grew. “Had you considered not showing up for your detention Mr Potter?” Snape asked him finally and Harry gulped as he walked forward until he was standing at the arm of the green velvet sofa. “Classes were cancelled, so I was uncertain Sir,” Harry said truthfully though the first part would have been known already to the man. He shifted uncomfortably, there was something different about being alone with the man in his office than being alone with him in his private quarters. “I had thought perhaps you were... unwell.” “I am not sick Mr Potter,” Snape said sneering at him, the look made his stomach clench each time he’d seen it and biting his lip he nodded his understanding. Snape stood and motioned for him to follow. Harry didn’t press further about what had kept him from teaching classes when Snape didn’t elaborate but he’d wanted to. Snape lead him through a door and for a fleeting moment he thought it would be the man’s bedroom, but instead he was greeted by the sight of a work room. Cauldrons were bubbling in the middle of the room and shelves lined the walls holding ingredients. There were boxes on the floor in one corner and Snape walked over to them. “This is my private work room Potter, you are not to go near or even look into the cauldrons. I do not need the work spoiled by your folly,” Snape said his dark eyes looking down on him. Harry realized the man was only giving him this job because he’d probably run out of things to give him, licking his lips he nodded. “In the boxes are ingredients, the shelves are marked on where each ingredient goes and the ingredient containers are also marked as to what they are. It’s a simple job Potter, I’m certain even you cannot mess it up.” “Yessir,” Harry mumbled as the man waited for an affirmation. The man nodded and left with another warning of not to go remotely near the bubbling cauldrons less he want a month with Filch cleaning out the grimiest parts of the castle. Harry shivered and turned to the boxes to get to work. The job was tedious and long since he couldn’t take direct routes to cupboards on the other side of the room. Even without Snape’s warning or order would Harry go near the cauldrons less he trip and knock something over or even drop a loose ingredient within the batches. Every once in a while Snape returned to stir the potions but this was the first detention that the man hadn’t sent him away early, and the first one he wasn’t sent away with longing to jump the man. Before he left though he turned to Snape back in the man’s living room. “Sir?” Harry began questioning even his reason to stop, he’d never thought about this before and yet here he was. The man stood there waiting for him to continue with an impatient look in his eyes. “Would.. would it be possible to get private tutoring from you in potions?” Harry looked away suddenly blushing some and his mouth yammered on. “As you know I’m horrible at them.. but it’s not purposeful and I try to do it correct they just don’t turn out proper.. and I was thinking with a .. little more tutelage I might gain more skill than I have.” “You have a lack of skill Potter, anything would aid you to improve.” Snape interrupted in a harsh voice making Harry flinch. He knew he’d been babbling but the man’s proximity was again taking it’s effects on him. Looking back up at the man he expected to see anything but the opposite of disgust on the man’s face. The look was quickly replaced by the cold mask he sported but Harry spotted it even if for a moment he thought he’d imagined it. The man must be feeling the same effects, right? “However much I might dislike it Potter, you do need something I’m tired of tables and floors melting or spilling messes that might cause boils or something worse.” Snape’s nose wrinkled as he agreed with Harry and accepted his request. Harry gave a brief smile to the man and for a moment he had the overwhelming urge to hug his Potions Master he held it off but just barely. “After dinner Potter every night and Saturday afternoon you will come to my office for your additional lessons. Don’t be late or they’ll be cancelled.” “Thank you sir!” Harry said enthusiastically in replace of the hug and other things he’d like to do to the older man. He hurried out of the man’s rooms before he allowed himself to do anything of the sort and made a slow way up to the Gryffindor common room. Severus watched Potter go with a curious look wondering about what he had just gotten himself into. That was all he needed was more reason to be in the same room with Potter alone but a reason to need to be near the boy. Too many things could go horribly wrong if either of them lost their self control and it appeared the boy was having harder luck each time they were near. After last night’s episode it was only evident that things just might go wrong on another level if he wasn’t careful. Both Hermione and Ron looked up when he walked into the common room in a happy mood. He went up to grab his school bag and returned to sit in their place beside the fire as the two continued to look at him expectantly and he looked at them confused. Ron finally asked what had been on both of there minds. “Where were you?” “Detention.” Harry said raising his eyebrows, he’d thought he’d told them where he was off to after dinner but both of them looked at him blankly. “I’d gotten one for wandering the halls last night and bumped into Snape.” “You served detention with Professor Snape? I thought classes were cancelled,” Ron sad his turn to look confused and Hermione sat forward expecting an explanation as to why the man had cancelled classes. “It didn’t state detentions so I’d gone down to check, he made me restock his private workroom’s ingredients cabinets,” He said with a shrug as he pulled out neglected homework with a sigh he caught Hermione’s questioning gaze and gave another shrug. “I didn’t notice anything wrong and he’d said he was not sick. I didn’t press the issue as to why he’d cancelled class.” “You mean he actually shared personal information with you?” Ron asked incredulously his eyes widening. “He didn’t just state ‘It is none of your business Mr Potter’ or something?” Harry shook his head ‘no’ and looked at what had added up with a sigh, he wondered how he was ever going to keep up this pace if he added on a private tutoring session with Snape. “I won’t be around after dinners or Saturday afternoons now. I’d asked him if he’d tutor me privately and he agreed.” Both of them were staring at him. Hermione looked startled, whether it was because he was going for help or Snape was giving it he wasn’t certain. Ron was a mix of startled and horrified as he stated what was on his mind. “Why would you want to spend more time with his abusive ass? Or in other ways why’d he say yes? I’m certain he was enjoying watching you fail and trying to get you to quit.” “You both know I’m as horrible as he says I am, I’m trying to improve my record.” Harry told them reasonably. If he wanted to be an auror he had to be good at Potions to be on the safe side, the way he was going he’d be dead quick if someone decided to try poison him. He didn’t mention that he liked spending time with Snape. “Good for you Harry,” Hermione said with a small nod and smile. “You’re finally taking initiative to get better at your worst subject.” “I still can’t see why you want to put up with his abuse for a minute longer than you absolutely need to. ‘Mione is good at potions, she probably could have helped.” Ron said. Harry sighed knowing his friend wasn’t going to let up at all and trying to ignore it as the redhead continued. “From day one he’s singled you out with his verbal abuse and now you’re opting in for more? You’ve finally lost your mind that’s what.” “I want to have the extra time with him so lay off,” Harry muttered darkly glaring at the redhead, pausing to realize what he’d blurted out as his friends stared at him once more. Biting his lip he looked away and started to work on his homework that was being left undone the more they talked. “Do you actually like him?” Ron asked in a strangled voice when the silence had stretched far too thin. Harry glared at him once more and bit his lip harder. “You do, don’t you!?” Harry put down his quill sharply and gritted his teeth, Ron really didn’t know how to let something go. Especially when a person didn’t want admit one thing or another. “I can’t explain it,” Harry said finally his eyes shifting to look into the fire because he couldn’t find himself to face looking at either of his friends as he said it. “But..” He paused to watch the fire dance with beautiful grace. “I think I love him.” ***** Alienation ***** Disclaimer: I do not own Harry Potter or anything associated with it. They belong to Rowling and I am making no profit.   A/N: Ron Weasley fans might hate me on this one. All I can say for my reason is that he's never been a favorite character of mine and though he's like a brother to Harry I always imagined he was a bigot and if he learned Harry was gay (in any of my fics -had written more long ago but they were lost when aff did the move years ago under same username-) he always turned a homophobic arse. Never remained so but I don't know exactly where this fic is leading me. -------------   Harry ignored the looks he received from his Gryffindor schoolmates and even some from the other houses. Since breakfast it seemed everyone knew to his admission of his unexplained feelings for Snape after Ron yelled at him in disgust. Hermione had a look of dawning over her face understanding why he’d been questioning her but she was the only one who stood by him. He stared at his lunch wondering idly why he’d ever thought Ron was a good person, he heard pointed whispered around him as people walked passed and he shoved his plate away no longer hungry. “I’ll see you in class ‘Mione,” Harry said standing up and leaving the Great Hall. He had a double period of potions next and even that didn’t raise his spirits temporarily. Chewing his lip he flinched when he felt a person’s hand on his arm, but it was only a gentle touch. “You didn’t have to follow me Hermione.” “I’m not Granger Potter,” a smooth voice drawled and Harry turned to the blonde warily taking a shaky breath as he looked into those grey eyes and waited for the boy to say something. “What do you want Malfoy?” Harry asked finally when the boy stood silent a hand still holding his arm. He tried to pull his arm away but the hand tightened, he wasn’t in the mood to fight so he gave up. “I’ve heard the strangest of rumors Potter,” Draco said to him his eyes narrowing in disbelief rather than disgust. “Are you truly in love with my godfather?” “Everyone else believes it, why not you?” Harry asked he was done denying it, the moment the words left his mouth he couldn’t take them back and say he was joking. The damage was already done. If it made Malfoy hate him more, what was the harm? Malfoy smiled though and Harry glared when the boy did the opposite of what he expected. “You find it amusing then. That I’d fallen for the man that has picked on me from day one, who I wouldn’t stand a chance with in even normal circumstances.” “No Potter, I’m just happy for him,” Draco retorted letting go of Harry’s arm and patting his shoulder gently as the brunette looked at him strangely. “You don’t understand it of course, but only one thing would make you change your mind about Uncle Sev so I’m happy it’s finally come up. He deserves to have someone, even if he doesn’t think so.” “Would you explain it to me then?” Harry asked hating the way the boy was holding it over his head that he didn’t know what had made him like Snape but he did. “I can’t, I have to leave him to explain it.” Draco told him shaking his head. Putting his arm around Harry’s shoulders he lead him towards the potions classroom to walk in on Snape bent over a cauldron. The dark eyes looked up and narrowed at the sight of Harry beneath Draco’s arm and Draco pulled away for the older man’s comfort if not Harry’s. “Hello Uncle, we thought we’d turn up early for a change.” “Since when are you two buddies?” Snape asked watching Harry shift nervously in the doorway before heading to his seat. Harry couldn’t answer it and glancing at Draco he was curious as to why the boy’s attitude changed all of a sudden, but he was surprised to hear dialogue that didn’t hide a sneer beneath the words. “Since a rumor is causing animosity towards our little Savior,” Draco said looking at Harry with raised eyebrows. Harry looked away confused by the changes in personality and didn’t know what to make of it. Harry wasn’t about to blurt it out to Snape even if there was some sort of connection between them that Draco had been hinting at. “What sort of rumor would this be, Mr Potter?” Snape asked waving his wand setting it under a stasis spell and it disappeared to his work room. Harry looked up at the man who walked closer trying to ignore Draco who was leaning against the table he was sitting at as he stared up at the dark haired man. His cheeks pinked and he tried to look away but his eyes were locked with Snape’s, his body stood up and approached to a few inches away from the older man when he tried to get himself under control. “Just.. a silly rumor Sir.” Harry mumbled trying to ignore Draco trying to hide a laugh behind his hand. So close to Snape he could breath in the man’s scent so readily and his mind was beginning to feel fuzzy as if he couldn’t think. “You know how kids are..” Severus’ eyes narrowed as he watched Potter draw closer, trying not to draw away in case it made his godson begin to laugh more. He had an idea of the rumor at the mere fact Draco seemed to know what was going on between them. His lips pulled back sharply as he tried to think. He hadn’t thought about this predicament but as he stared down into Harry’s eyes he recognized the glazed look in his eyes and frowned. “Indeed..” The man’s hand drifted up lightly ghosting over Harry’s cheek and jaw bone. Harry shivered at the barest of touches and he remained standing where he was staring up at the older man waiting for him to make his move. Harry couldn’t move if he wanted to, towards Snape or away. He was locked in the man’s gazed and it was up to the man to let him go, the helplessness sent another shiver up his spine this time it wasn’t of pleasure and Snape caught the small scent of fear and he broke eye contact releasing Harry to stumble into a table. A small whine escaped Harry as pain shot up his side from his hip, but it wasn’t the pain that made the sound escape but the need for something. Snape looked towards the door warily realizing the boy wouldn’t return to himself before the class started and there was one way to bring him back to his right mind. Draco got up silently and closed the door recognizing the wary look on his uncle’s face. Severus stepped forward drawing Harry against his body ignoring the shiver and anxious excitement that ran through him as Harry looked at him expectantly lost beneath the spell that had hold of him. He leant down the small distance and pressed his lips to Harry’s possessively, kissing him rough and hard as his arms tightened around the too thin body and felt his robes tug as the boy grasped for a hold to return the kiss just as roughly, lips moving all too willingly. Severus knew it was the need for a mate making him feel this way, and the scent of pheromones making Harry so willing but at the moment it felt so right. Those lips left all too soon and his hand gripped at the table as the body pulled away. Harry felt faint and as if someone had put a jelly legs curse on him as he watched with a sinking heart as Snape walked away up to his desk without a glance towards him. Harry heard the door open and somehow he managed to make it back to his seat too focused on the memory of Snape’s arms around him and the feel of the man’s lips to care about the looks of disgust he received and whispered gibes sent his way. “Come eat at the Slytherin table Harry,” Draco told him after class without a glance at Hermione who was watching him suspiciously. Harry glanced at her though nervously, he was tempted to do so if only to have some sort of appetite. The Slytherins weren’t throwing gibes his way this time around, she shrugged and walked away with a last worried glance at Draco. “She could have joined if she wanted to stay with you so bad.” “She’s just upset about everything.” Harry told Draco cautiously he was still uncertain about trusting the Slytherin who worked just as hard as Snape had to make his school years miserable. So far though Draco was being kind, and it was something he needed. “She mothers me too much and she doesn’t trust you.” “Do you trust me?” Draco asked his near invisible eyebrows rising towards his hairline a true sign of curiosity. “No,” Harry said truthfully a final thought on the matter but a person could hardly blame him. Draco only grinned though and Harry knew the blonde had already known the answer. “At this point though.. I’m willing to get to know you as it seems I’ve little friends now.” Draco set his hand on Harry’s shoulder with another innocent look. How quickly a person could end up on the wrong side and in the wrong House when it comes to this sort of thing. “We’re not all bad Harry.” Harry nodded and followed Draco to the Slytherin table ignoring the dirty looks that turned sour when the Gryffindors realized where he was heading. He sat down beside Draco slowly realizing not all the Slytherins were looking at him with welcome, but suspicion. Biting his lip he ignored it and looked at the empty platters as students continued to stream in to sit down. As he listened to Draco joke with his friends he picked at his food but still ate very little. He smiled some as Draco turned to him as he spoke knowing the boy was welcoming him to join in but he remained silent. Perhaps if he’d allowed the Hat to sort him into Slytherin he’d be truly comfortable in this group, but he had said no to it and it sent him to Gryffindor instead. “Is everything alright?” Harry blinked realizing the blonde had whispered the question in his ear. He give a small nod as he glanced over at him, his friends were watching but didn’t say anything. “You should eat then, don’t let them see it’s bothering you.” “Yeah.. you’re right,” Harry mumbled and had to chuckle when Draco’s response was his expected acceptance of the fact. Harry was anxious though, what if he’d lost his friends for nothing? He looked up to the head table where Snape was sitting and caught Snape staring at him in the process. The man’s eyes darted away but Harry’s cheeks warmed as he made another attempt at eating. If it was for nothing he was having a hard time placing the nothing part, the man was showing interest in him if the kiss hadn’t told him so already. He began to focus on what was being said and was soon talking animatedly with Draco’s friends. He didn’t have to be a Slytherin to be accepted by this circle now that he was already invited to join and he realized that though he lost the friends he had in Gryffindor for the time being, he was making new ones in Slytherin. When Dinner was over he got up with the rest and made his way back down to the dungeons for his private lessons with Snape. Draco gave him a last pat on the shoulder and Harry spotted Snape walking down the hall and past his office to the portrait. “Come along Mr Potter,” Snape told him and walked through the door behind the portrait. Harry following obediently behind. “You seemed very at home at the Slytherin table tonight Potter,” Severus mused leading Potter back through the door to his private workroom where an empty cauldron sat awaiting his first lesson to the small brunette. After the kiss that afternoon it was harder to keep himself restrained around Potter when the memory of the sweet taste of his lips made him want to taste so much more. Harry felt his cheeks warm, he knew the man had been watching but there was a difference with the man admitting it. He walked up to stand a small distance away from Snape and the cauldron remembering he wasn’t supposed to be near the cauldrons in that room. “Oh.. well I had a chance to be in Slytherin once.” “Come closer Potter, I can’t teach you from there.” Snape ordered and smiled when Potter obeyed immediately. He couldn’t help but notice the natural submissive beneath the stubborn exterior. Snape blinked though at the admission and his brows furrowed as he took the young hero in. “You were to be sorted into Slytherin?” There was something he didn’t know about the boy. Severus had just assumed he’d been sorted to Gryffindor because both his parents had been, he had the Gryffindor qualities after all. Harry nodded blushing deeper at the look he received from Snape and he looked down at the open book that sat on the work table. “The hat wanted to put me in Slytherin, but at the time I heard only dark wizards wound up there so I asked it not to.” Harry wondered idly if the man would have been different to him if he wound up in Slytherin rather than Gryffindor. It wouldn’t have changed what his father had done to Snape while they were in school, but Snape had always favored those in Slytherin. Harry looked up at Snape when the man remained silent and his hand reached out to brush the man’s arm gently. Snape blinked at him for a moment than pulled away clearing his throat as he motioned to the text book which Harry focused on again. It was opened to a simpler potion than the ones they were working on now, but held a fatal key that everything needed to be put in at the right time and the correct order. “We’ll start out with this one Mr Potter, any small mistake might have dire consequences so I hope it’ll teach you to pay attention to the directions given.” Taking a deep breath hadn’t been the best of ideas as he breathed in the scent of the older man. The scent made him flush as he tried to ignore the instinctive pull towards Snape and begin to work on the potion set before him with Snape’s constant supervision stopping him from making foolish mistakes. One time Snape’s hand darted out to grab his wrist to keep him from dropping in a pinch of the next ingredient. “You only need a small pinch Mr Potter less you want your arm to be covered in blood blisters from that mistake.” Harry shivered beneath Snape’s touch and he looked up at the man. So far he had done fairly well with keeping himself under control but the sudden touch took him by surprise as he tried to shift closer as his wrist was dropped. He put the ingredient back into it’s bowl and looked at the man expectantly. Snape stared down his nose at him. “Get back to work Potter, we’re not finished yet.” “Can’t we just.. take a break. Sir?” Harry asked reaching out to take that long fingered hand. He felt the man tense as he brought his hand to his lips kissing the top of his hand and slid down to a finger tip. The hand was quickly pulled away and gave Harry a gentle shove back towards the cauldron. “That’s highly inappropriate Mr Potter,” Severus said trying to sound teacherly, instead his voice seemed like a hesitant school girl’s. He couldn’t focus on that now though, the boy could turn out rather seductive if Severus allowed him to continue. “Are you wanting to learn potions or not?” “Y-yes sir,” Harry stammered looking away from Snape realizing he’d almost lost control of himself. Turning back to the cauldron he took a small pinch of the ingredient and dropped it into the potion that was for once looking like it should with help from the Potions Master. He took the spoon to stir it in like the book had told him to do in a slow clockwise motion but Snape took the spoon with his hand and all and guided Harry’s hand to move a little quicker and going counter clockwise every fourth stir until the potion turned the violet color that the text book was saying should come next. “Professor, that is the third time you’d corrected my stirring to something that is different in the text. How am I to know when it’d be more useful to do it in the way you shown me?” “The extra counter clockwise turn speeds up the process Potter,” Snape told him his hand releasing Harry’s quickly before Harry returned to the seductive state he’d slipped into for a moment. “It’s not safe in all potions mind you. Going too slow with this one though could make the potion turn wrong though so even if you continued it might not have turned the color.” Severus watched Potter nod once more with the beginnings of a glazed look. Taking out his wand he set the potion under a stasis spell. He himself was having a harder time keeping himself away from the young sixteen year old that was stinking of arousal already knowing that the kiss was a mistake when he felt Potter’s body seem to call to his own to rid him of it’s arousal. Gritting his teeth he ignored it. “That’s all for tonight Mr Potter, we’ll continue on the morrow.” Harry nodded an gathered up his bags and walked out of the work room a step after Snape. “Sir.. thank you again.” He was stalling because he didn’t want to leave the man’s presence. Snape merely nodded though and he had to leave so he made his way back up to the Room of Requirement for privacy. He smiled at the painting on the wall as he set down his bag and pulled off his robes. The room was getting well used to these visits it seemed because it seemed to add a more comfortable chair for him to sit in as he stared up at the painting smiling some as he felt the cold eyes watch him as he unzipped his pants. He wished they were the real set, that it was Snape standing before him and touching him rather than his own hands. This time he could truly imagine what it was like to be in strong arms as those pale lips claimed his, the feeling of melting in that strong grasp as he allowed the Snape he imagined to do anything and everything. He came with a small cry when he knew it was only his hand making the pleasure. In the dungeons Severus was driven to his knees gasping for breath. Unlike the few times before this one was different when he lived through Potter’s fantasies. The boy had been calling him to come to him and make the fantasy real. It had been painful to ignore and had taken everything in his power to keep himself from going up and finding him to give him what he needed. His eyes drifted shut as he felt the slight coolness of the stone floor against his forehead waiting for the effects to pass. Harry was greeted in his common room by a fight going on between Hermione and the boys of his dorm. The loudest was the tall redhead who was standing before a trunk that he recognized as his suddenly realizing what the argument was about. Clenching his fists he took a step forward as the boys quieted when they noticed him, Ron turned to him and made a face of disgust. “Gryffindor not good enough for you anymore Potter?” Seamus asked in a cruel voice that cut deep as the others around him nodded. “Slytherin more your style now that you’re in love with their head of house, right?” “Why don’t you take your things and go to your precious Potions Master? We don’t want a fag sleeping in the same room as us.” Dean sneered and Ron pushed his trunk towards him with a foot. Harry looked around the room hiding his hurt behind a mask. Ron couldn’t look at him without disgust written over his face and all but Neville seemed to be worried that he’d molest them in their sleep. Harry glanced at Hermione whose face was red with anger and tears coursed down her cheeks. He gave her a grim smile and picked up one handle of his trunk and pulled it through the portrait hole without a word to any of them, it was no use to argue. The question was though.. what was he going to do now? Looking up he heard Ginny’s voice explaining what was going on to someone and as footsteps approached Professor McGonagall appeared to be the one the redheaded girl was talking to. The tall brown haired witch looked at him with a sigh and looked up at Hermione who made her way out of the Gryffindor common room wiping her eyes and saying apologies to Harry. “Come along Mr Potter,” Professor McGonagall said waving her wand at his trunk and it levitated behind them as they walked. “You’d think the same generation would be much more accepting. We’ll have to speak to the Headmaster about this and figure out what to do with you. Ms Granger, you’ll remain with us to explain what happened back there to the headmaster, Ms Weasley you could return to your dormitory.” “Yes Ma’am,” Ginny said and ran back to the portrait with a worried glance towards Harry. “Harry, I’m sorry I was trying to end the folly before you returned,” Hermione said quietly as they walked. She looked horribly upset and Harry patted her shoulder awkwardly. “I know ‘Mione, it’s not your fault.” Harry said with a sigh. They reached the stone gargoyle by now and were on their way up the revolving steps to enter the headmaster’s office. “Minerva, Harry and Ms Granger,” Dumbledore said looking surprised to see them and the trunk that had followed them in. “What is it that has brought you three up here tonight.” “We have a little predicament,” Professor McGonagall said stepping out from in front of the two students. “It seems Mr Potter’s dorm mates no longer want him in their dorm room.” Dumbledore’s smile fell at this news and he waited for an explanation in silence. Taking a shaky breath Harry stepped forward to explain. “They’ve learned that I’m gay Sir. They seem to think of me as a threat if I remain.” It wasn’t the entire truth but he didn’t want to get Snape in trouble. Hermione nodded going along with his story and explained what happened while Harry was taking extra lessons with Snape. Dumbledore sat in silence throughout the tale asking a few questions, one of them was why he’d sat at the Slytherin table that night. “Ron had learned of it last night Professor and I was uncomfortable by the looks I was getting from him and the others. Draco had invited me to sit with his friends so I didn’t have to hear anything they were saying.” “Hm.. this is quite the predicament,” Dumbledore was saying to no one in particular as he stood up and paced the room. “I may be able to give you a private room but others might complain about the special treatment..” “Sir, I’ve a suggestion if I may,” Harry said interrupting the older man and apologized for it quickly. Dumbledore nodded for him to continue and Harry explained about the sorting hat his first year. “It was going to put me in Slytherin.. so I thought that Draco and his friends didn’t mind me and they know the truth so perhaps I could change houses?” Dumbledore seemed to ponder about the idea and walked to the shelves where the sorting hat sat. Setting it on his head he seemed to deliberate with the hat silently and with a nod set it back on the shelf once more. “Alright, it seems you do have the abilities needed for Slytherin as well. Ms Granger can you go get Professor Snape for me and ask him to bring along Draco. He should be in his rooms by now.” Hermione nodded and was about to turn to ask where she was heading when Harry smiled. “The portrait of a snake near his office is the entrance to his rooms.” She nodded after giving him a strange look but left to do as she was asked. Harry looked towards the entrance as he felt Snape near and gave a weary smile as Hermione returned with Snape and Draco. Dumbledore thanked the two for coming at this time and explained the situation to the both of them. “Draco I asked you here to make certain that you and your dorm mates will be fine with Harry there so long as Severus accepts Harry into his house.” “Mr Potter is welcome of course Headmaster,” Snape said courteously. Dumbledore didn’t expect any less even if Snape still had the animosity towards Harry still. Harry gave a small sigh of relief and he looked at Draco. “If anyone has any problems with him however they will answer to me.” Harry blinked and hid a smile, if one didn’t know any better there was a hint of protectiveness in Snape’s voice. “I don’t think there’ll be any problems Professor,” Draco said with a small nod of his head glancing up at the Potions Master. “They all seemed to accept Harry at dinner.” “It’s settled then,” Dumbledore said with a nod and Harry gave a small sigh. He was angry at the Gryffindors but he was still a little upset at having to leave the House he’d been in for five years and a month of his sixth. “Harry will be settled in to Slytherin from now on. Draco, Severus. I’ll leave it to you to show him the way to his new dormitory.” Snape waved his wand at Harry’s trunk and it flew out ahead of them as with a last smile to Hermione he followed Snape and Draco to the dungeons in silence. He felt a hand on his shoulder and he looked over to Draco with a thankful smile as they lead him to the portrait that hid the Slytherin common room set beneath the lake. “Draco, go ahead for a moment and explain that we’ve got a new addition to our House I’d like to speak with Mr Potter for a moment.” Draco grinned and with a password he was inside the common room with a wink to Harry. Harry looked up at Snape cautiously wondering what the man would say about the events of tonight. “Sir..” “Mr Potter, know that I expect the best of efforts from the students in my House,” Snape told him his long fingered hand lifting Harry’s chin so those dark eyes were staring into his emerald ones. “There’s no excuse for anything less. You had better be on good behavior from now on, no more detentions.” Harry nodded dumbly as he stared into those obsidian eyes and smiled as Snape leaned down to kiss him once more. His lips returned the kiss hungrily as he felt himself pressed back against the wall his arms slid up and around Snape pulling the man’s body against him and marveling at how great it felt to be so close to the older man. Snape’s lips pulled away far too soon and a whimper escaped him. “Shh Harry..” Snape said calling him by his first name for the first time. “Another time, now it’s time to head in to meet your new House mates and head to bed.. Understand?” “Yes Sir,” Harry said but he couldn’t help but dislike it when Snape drew away but he followed Snape into the Slytherin common room and was greeted with friendly smiles from the group he’d been speaking with over dinner. Snape made a quick speech about if the Slytherins wanted to put on a similar show like the Gryffindors that they could all expect to be sleeping in the Forbidden Forrest and Harry could have the rooms to himself. The smile Harry wanted to have on his lips was hidden as he silently realized he was already mastering the emotionless mask that was famous to the Slytherins. Snape left and Draco led him up to the boys dormitory and helped him unpack his stuff around his new green and black bed. “I’ll help you change your robes to the Slytherin colors tomorrow, but you look exhausted so I won’t keep you up. My bed is the next one over if you need anything.” “Thanks Draco.” Harry said after a moment and the boy smiled before moving to his own bed and changing into pajamas. Harry did the same and crawled into his new bed. He was out like a light to uneasy dreams. ***** Let the Blood Spill ***** Disclaimer: I do not own Harry Potter or anything associated with it. They belong to Rowling and I am making no profit.   A/N: I realize that Draco actually is a bit out of character even in my own mind.. However I blame lack of sleep and reading a fic where he's nicer to play into what he's turned to be. I blame the reason on the fact he's happy for his godfather.. that's all I can do at this point. Sorry if I'd upset anyone by it.   ---   The few moments before full wakefulness. The moments that you forget what happened the previous day, about why he was waking in a strange dormitory decorated green silver and black instead of the red and gold he was so used to was almost bliss for Harry. When the memories returned though he wished they’d remain forgotten, he was even willing to forget those two kisses if things had returned the way they were before he admitted he was gay and in love with Snape. Harry would never have thought the red head could turn against him so quickly simply because of his orientation, it really wasn’t that big of deal. Was it? Harry turned to his back to stare up at the ceiling in no hurry to get up. It was a Saturday, he had nothing to do. His mind wandered to Draco’s kindness and only now found himself getting surprised by it, perhaps because he’d latched on to one of the few who were being kind to him the day passed. Was it because he was happy for his godfather? Why was it he seemed definite that Harry would be getting together with Snape? All besides the two kisses he’d received.. He smiled at the memory, okay perhaps he wasn’t willing to forget those. They proved to him Snape wanted him as well, that he wasn’t the only one feeling the effects of whatever had come over him. “Potter wake up,” Draco’s voice called into the room before he appeared. Harry turned his head to him with a confused look. “Uncle just informed me you have private potions lessons with him this afternoon, you better get going.” “It’s that late already?” Harry mumbled. He hadn’t checked the time but he had idly forgotten that he did indeed have something to do and it was with Snape! He quickly slid out of bed and grabbed a set of clothing and slid them on with a sigh, it was only the weekend so he didn’t need to wear House robes but he had to remember to change them. “Yes Harry, you’ve slept quite late today,” Draco drawled sitting down on the vacated bed, chuckling at how fast Harry had moved to get dressed. “Of course, that might be because you were tossing and turning half the night.” “Oh.. Sorry,” Harry mumbled finger combing his hair to some semblance of neatness before grabbing his potions textbook and hurrying out leaving an amused Draco Malfoy in his bed. “The effects on the mate certainly are strong...” Draco mused to himself as he stood up and spelled the bed neat. He glanced at the trunk that had been left open in Potter’s hurry and smiled sweetly kneeling down he got to work changing House colors and emblems from Gryffindor to Slytherin. *~* ‘What’re you so nervous about?’ the snake in the portrait asked Harry as he waited for Snape to allow him in. His attention focused on it for a moment and he gave a small smile to the snake who slid seemingly closer to get a better look at the one who seemed to understand it. “I don’t know.. I’m just anxious to see him.” Harry replied in parseltongue just as Snape opened the portrait to him. ‘Come visit next time, I haven’t spoken to anyone in ages.’ “Forgotten had you Potter?” Snape asked in his silky voice as Harry walked passed into the private suite. “Sorry sir, I’d just woken up,” Harry said wetting his lips some with a dart of his tongue. It seemed harder to ignore Snape and that intoxicating scent that he gave off after those two kisses, he was having a harder time from wanting to step forward to claim a third and some more things that flitted passed his mind. “The workroom hasn’t changed places Mr Potter, unless you no longer want private lessons,” Snape replied coolly when Harry didn’t move passed the few steps into the living room. “This is taking up my personal time as well that should be like a day off of teaching so decide.” “No, I still want the lessons. Sorry.” Harry murmured with a blush hinting at his cheeks and he hurried through the door to the workroom they’d been working in before. He stood away from the cauldrons as Snape took his time to follow in a less hurried manner. “Very well.. lets begin Potter.” Snape said giving Harry a light push towards the cauldron sitting off to the side from the others. Severus was feeling the same stronger effects and he knew the kisses were a mistake, the second wasn’t even necessary any further than trying to ease his frazzled nerves after the call Potter had sent him an hour earlier. Severus was trying to ignore the boy’s scent but the longer the lesson went on even the boy’s incompetency wasn’t enough to override the longing to touch him and so much more. His eyes had fallen to the tanned expanse of neck that he was able to stare at as Potter bent over the cauldron. Harry shivered as he felt hands slide along his sides and the tall form of Snape’s body slide in behind him. He stood up slightly and paused when he felt Snape’s breath against his neck, his face nuzzling closer to the flesh as arms encircled his waist and held him firmly against Snape’s body. A small gasp escaped Harry as he felt the telltale signs of arousal poking at his back through their clothing, letting his eyes close briefly as he stopped fighting it. “Sir..?” Harry whispered when all the man was doing was nuzzling at his neck. Severus licked his lips, the scent of Potter was so sweet and he just wanted to taste him. He grabbed the boy’s chin and turned his face towards him pressing his lips to Potter’s possessively, his lips twitched in a brief smile as the boy’s responded perfectly to his own. He turned the boy in his arms and gently guided him into a shelf lined wall as his tongue was admitted between those perfect lips. He explored the boy’s mouth as far as his tongue could reach before running his tongue over Potter’s and played with it possessively claiming the boy’s mouth as his own. “Potter..” Severus breathed out as the kiss came to an end, his craving barely satiated. He looked into Potter’s eyes and noticed the surprise and he chuckled, the glamour had fell long before the kiss had started. His blue eyes met those beautiful emerald and held them as he ran his hands over the body pressed against him. “Harry..” Harry muttered hating the sound of his last name in the man’s voice as he tried to come to terms that Snape’s eyes had turned a bright blue. “My name’s Harry..” “Harry then..” Severus replied with a smile his fangs peeking out passed his lips but Harry didn’t recoil at the sight and Severus wondered if the boy had already suspected. He leaned in kissing at the boys neck easily scenting the fresh blood flowing in the boy’s veins. Harry stiffened some but didn’t fight him, fisting Severus’ robes in his hands was the only other sign of nervousness escaping him as the older man bit down his teeth sinking easily into the flesh and relished in the taste of blood that swarmed into his mouth. It tasted so splendidly sweet so similar to his scent and yet so different than any of the blood he’d ever tasted before. Harry gasped at the pain, at first he tried to push the tall vampire away but he stood his ground and fed. Slowly Harry stopped and he felt the man’s grip on him loosen and gentle strokes pass over his sides successfully beginning to calm him and he began to actually enjoy the idea of it. He leaned against the wall slowly more as time passed and finally the man drew away licking over the wounds and closing them. Harry’s eyes opened to look into those blue eyes a small smile pulling at his lips even as a look of horror passed across Snape’s face. Harry lifted an arm and touched Snape’s cheek trying to smooth away the new lines of emotion on that usually emotionless face. “Potter.. Harry.. I..” Severus stammered as he realized what he’d allowed himself to do. He remembered the boy’s hands pushing against his chest to try stop him and rewarding him when he’d stopped fighting. He tried to pull away but those hands stopped him and the sight of Harry beginning to slide to the floor stopped him. “I shouldn’t have done that..” Harry gave a small shake of his head, but stopped himself when his lightheadedness worsened. He gasped when he felt himself lifted up and he clung to the taller man as he was carried out to the living room and sat down on the couch. Snape sat down a small distance further on the couch as if to keep himself from following through with other temptations. “My apologies Harry.. I’ve never allowed myself to lose control like that.” “So.. that’s it,” Harry muttered not minding the apology as he looked at Snape shifting closer to him on the couch. “That’s why I’m all of a sudden .. attracted to you.. You’re a vampire, and I’m your.. mate.” Severus’ blue eyes watched Harry curiously as the boy shifted closer, he expected the boy to show some fear. The fear he’d scented in the moments after he had bitten, even the lust that his scent forced on Harry for him still would leave him open to fear him even a little as had been proven. “You’ve known, haven’t you Potter?” “I told you, it’s Harry,” Harry retorted a hand lifting to touch Snape’s cheek lightly beneath the eye. The man didn’t look so bad with blue eyes and he smiled. “I suspected the moment you shown interest in what I’d learned of vampires.. I was never certain. I was wanting to disbelieve my assumptions though, even allow ‘Mione to prove me wrong.” “Granger knows?” Severus pulled away his lip pulled up in a sneer causing Harry to pull away some. He’d spent his whole life trying to hide the fact he was a vampire, the headmaster knew but only because of the dangers he stood to the students when he was still a kid and when he became a teacher. It seemed the secret was about to get out fast. “What about Weasley?” “They knew I suspected..” Harry said cautiously shifting uncomfortably again under the look he was getting and had to look away. “I’m sorry.. If you’d just told me instead of letting me try to figure it out on my own..” Severus sighed, there was nothing to do about it now and Harry was right. If he hadn’t been in denial about the fact Harry was his mate no one else would have known. He shouldn’t have expected Harry to ignore it quite as much as he had, he knew the boy was looking for answers and he refused to give them to him. “No Harry.. I apologize for not being forthcoming.” A simple touch was all that it took for Harry to close the space between the two of them and was in Severus’ lap leaning against his chest with a content smile on his face. Once the two were through with ignoring the temptations they enjoyed the closeness and Harry was enjoying the comfort being in Severus’ arms. He turned his face up and smiled as he was kissed once more as the kiss turned from passionate to needy Severus pulled at his clothes and Harry let him. Harry was on his back shirtless with Severus leaning over him kissing and nipping at his neck lightly those long fingered hands made easy work of his pants and underwear and Harry was left nude and blushing as he looked up at the vampire. Harry knew what was happening and something in the back of his mind was saying it was going too fast but Harry couldn’t get himself to say no, to call a pause in the activities. He was aroused but he was beginning to get nervous as any first timer would be, and the look in Severus’ eyes though lustful looked almost foreign to him. Severus’ body pulled away from him, the man quickly shed his black robes and his clothes but was leaning over Harry once more crushing their lips in a bruising kiss. Harry let his hands wander over the bare chest feeling the muscles flutter beneath his fingers, he was no less nervous though as Severus parted his legs. Harry cried out painfully when the man thrust into him swiftly sheathing himself with no preparations. His emerald eyes widened as his hand pushed at the man as he found his voice to cry for Severus to stop. “Stop! I-It hurts...” The man seemed deaf to his cries though as Severus slid out and slammed back into him pulling another cry of pain from Harry. His pleas continued until he was voiceless from crying out. It felt as though he was on fire it was so painful and each thrust was harder and more vicious than the last, tears had sprung from his eyes and were free flowing as he wished for the man to finish and get out of him. With a shuddering gasp from the tall vampire the time had come and with a sick feeling he felt the man’s seed fill him and the man slumped over his body. “G-get off me..” Harry’s raspy voice whispered trying to push at the man. Now he seemed to hear him and looked at him confusion apparent in his eyes. “Please.. get off of me.” Severus blinked his confusion a gentle thumb brushed at Harry’s tear streaked cheek and frowned when the boy flinched. His nose began to pick up the stench of fear and pulled away to do as the boy requested but his nose flared at the scent of blood, his eyes widening as he looked where the scent was coming from as he pulled out to find himself covered in the boy’s sweet blood. Severus stared at himself and then Harry in horror as he realized slowly that he’d failed to do right by Harry and prepare him, the cries came back to him slowly as pain filled not pleasure. Harry pushed himself away from the dark haired man ignoring the pain that flared through his body as he tried to sit up to find his clothes. He wanted out of here and away from the man before anything else could happen, but he certainly wasn’t lost beneath the scent the man was still producing it was easily ignored this time. Harry flinched when he felt the man’s hands on him and he tried to fight the tight grasp he had on him. “Harry stop.. I’m sorry..” Severus was fighting the temptation to pin the boy down to keep him from fighting, it wouldn’t help to stop him from fearing him. “Let me clean you up.. I.. I need to heal the damage.” “Don’t. Touch. Me.” Harry spat each word out slowly, fear and disgust evident in his voice and Severus let him go. His body told him he should allow the man to heal him at least so he wouldn’t be hurting quite as bad but his mind screamed not to let him near enough. He grabbed his clothes and forced them on quickly but when he tried to stand his legs gave out on him and he fell into Severus’ waiting arms. “I told you to stop..” Harry whimpered as he lost control pushing himself away from Severus even if he landing on the floor. Tears fell again and he clenched his fists, why couldn’t he just get up and run? “Begged for it... Told you it hurt. You didn’t listen..” “Harry.. I.. I’m sorry..” Severus said, he had no real excuses he could have kept himself under his own control so he wasn’t leaving instinct to do the work. He hadn’t though and now he managed to hurt Harry. “I didn’t mean.. It wasn’t supposed to happen this way.” “Y-you raped me Snape!” Harry spat out against his apologies, anger taking over after he listened to those words. There was no such thing as apologizing to the one you raped, now was there? “I couldn’t even get myself to tell you to slow down.. it wasn’t until it hurt that I was able to say anything to get you to stop and you didn’t. The bloody spell that was over me as your mate wouldn’t allow me to and you took advantage of it!” Severus recoiled at the accusation and the sick feeling in his stomach worsened as he realized it was the truth. Once Harry was under it’s full effects the boy wouldn’t have managed to voice anything against what was happening until something like pain or fear broke the spell. He looked away ashamed of himself and sickened about what he had done, his eyes spotted the stain of blood on his couch and it made him want to vomit. He’d done wrong by Harry and there was no way to fix it.. Severus looked back to where Harry had been on the floor startled when he heard the door close, proof that the boy had regained the strength in his legs to flee from his rapist. Harry found his way back to Slytherin and up to his dormitory, ignoring the strange looks that he’d gotten as he’d rushed past. He fell into his bed and let himself cry, pulling the pillow to his chest. He’d never felt so helpless in his life, even when he was stuck at his relatives over the summer and having to deal with them without the threat of magic making them leery of him. “Harry?” Draco had gotten news of him running through the common room and was concerned about what happened. Even more now that he realized the boy who always managed to get out of things without breaking down was crying. “Are you alright?” “No..” Harry said without looking at Draco, he didn’t want anyone around him and squeezed his eyes shut further. “Leave me alone..” Harry expected Draco to give him some snarky remark and leave him be. That was the Draco he knew so well, but the one he didn’t know was the one that had been showing himself yesterday and today. Harry stiffened as he felt his bed shift beneath added weight and he tried to slide away, this really wasn’t helping him. “What happened Harry?” “Please.. leave me alone.” Harry whined trying to ignore the fact Draco wasn’t moving away from him and if he moved any further away he’d fall off the bed. “I.. don’t want to talk about it.” “Is it because you found out what he is?” Draco asked cautiously. There was nothing his godfather could say to insult the boy and make him break down even at his nastiest so Draco was at a loss at what could have happened. He sighed when Harry shook his head and bit his lip. “You know he’s a vampire?” A nod, so it wasn’t just because he now knew or didn’t know. “Harry.. I want to help but I can’t if you won’t tell me,” Draco said slowly hardly believing the boy who thrived in attention wanted to be truly alone. “I don’t want to tell you.. and I already told you what you could do to help me.” Harry said anger building as he turned around to glare at the blond, but not before the blond noticed a look of pain cross Harry’s face. “Leave me alone.” Draco sighed and nodded as he stood up, whatever it was he wasn’t going to get any answers from Harry. He left Slytherin in attempts to ask his godfather to see what had happened but the portrait wouldn’t accept the password. Furrowing his brow he knocked instead but Snape didn’t answer and Draco was left at a loss of what to do to help the two who seemed to want to be alone. Harry remained in his dorm for the rest of the weekend barely touching the food Draco brought up for him. He didn’t want to face anyone as if people would know upon looking at him that he’d given himself to Snape and had gotten taken advantage of. Only Draco knew he had been with Snape that afternoon and he watched Harry worriedly having no idea what had gone wrong between the two. -- A/N2: I know it's a lot shorter than the last four, but I want the aftermath to be pushed to further chapters and this one came to an end early. My apologies but the next one will be longer, I promise!! ***** Vampires 101 ***** Disclaimer: I do not own Harry Potter or anything associated with it. They belong to Rowling and I am making no profit.   A/n: First I want to apologize to those I upset with the last chapter and the rape scene. It was one of the few things I had planned though which is why non- con was in the warnings. The story continues though and I hope I have not lost you because things will get better! Sorry for the small wait, I was having troubles with the chapter because I had a lot of ideas of how to work this chapter. So I've come to a decision and then still parts of it took longer than I would have liked to come to me. But here it is ready for you to read!! ----   “I wish you’d tell me what happened,” Draco said to Harry for what felt like the hundredth time in the span of a couple days. They were staring at a sign stating Potions was cancelled until further notice. “He won’t come out of his rooms, you won’t say anything.. Was it so bad you learned what he was?” “I don’t care about what he is Draco, I don’t care that he had fed on my blood,” Harry retorted in a quiet voice as they left the crowd of students wondering the reason why potions was cancelled or cheering for it. Harry’s hand brushed over the bruise that had formed on his neck with a shudder however as he thought of it, the mark only making everything so much more real. “I told you I don’t want to talk about it.” Harry was glad there was no potions, he knew the dark vampire was avoiding him and it was so much the better for Harry. He pulled at his robes self consciously though as they walked up to the Great Hall for breakfast, as if he expected the man to be sitting at the table. It bothered him just how much he’d been so helpless with Snape that afternoon, wasn’t there more that he could have done? Even so far as remind the man it was his first time? Harry shuddered, it was definitely not how he wanted to remember his first time but it was all that he could think about. “It’s not right..” Draco was saying when Harry realized someone was talking to him. He looked over to Draco with a frown, the blond really didn’t know how to mind his own business. “Their mates only lose interest and show animosity when something was done to anger or hurt them.. or fear of them. I really do want to help Harry.” “You’re just bothered because you thought your godfather had a perfect mate and now he’s lost it,” Harry spat his hunger quickly diminishing as he pushed at his food. Confusion swept through him though as he thought about not seeing Snape anymore. He hated what Snape had done to him and the next time he would see the dour Potions Master would be too soon. However another part of him disliked the idea making Harry shudder, the spell of being a vampire’s mate was not yet over by a long shot if he still had an inkling of a craving to be with the man who had raped him. “I just want to know what was so bad that it set you against him?” Draco told him, his eyes going cold as he met Harry’s eyes. “I’m trying to be a friend here and get things right between the two of you. What would it take to get you to forgive whatever he’s done?” “I can’t forgive him,” Harry retorted truthfully pushing away his plate, he was beginning to feel sick and couldn’t look at food anymore. With morning class cancelled Harry headed out of the school and headed towards the lake sighing in relief when Draco didn’t seem to be following him. Sitting down underneath the shade of a tree Harry stared at the waters. His mind wandered back to the time and he cursed aloud banging his head back against the bark of the tree frustrated. No matter how many times he thought of it he couldn’t think of what he could have done, he was entirely under the spell once the man’s scent had overwhelmed him. It was Snape who was supposed to remember what Harry couldn’t say to remind him, it was Snape who didn’t stop when he’d begged him to. It was all Snape’s fault.. wasn’t it? Harry squeezed his eyes shut willing the tears to go away even as they slid down his cheeks. Why had he even moved closer to the man? Maybe it was his fault.. “Crying about it again Potter?” Harry’s head spun to glare up at the blond who’d found him. Why couldn’t he just drop it? He never used to care, he shouldn’t have started. “It might make you feel better if you’d just talk about it. What can be so unforgivable?” “The day’s just roses and sunshine for you isn’t it Malfoy?” Harry looked back out at the lake. Couldn’t he just make it all go away? “You think Snape being a vampire is great and all, especially now that he’s got the famous Potter as his mate. Only now are you trying to be friends with me but you fail to understand the meaning of leaving a subject alone.” “I would think finding a mate would be a good thing for both of you Harry..” Draco said sitting down beside Harry to stare out at the lake with a sigh. “My father wants me to be his mate, but once he has one perhaps the man would leave the subject alone. It might be selfish of me.. I used to want it as well, but my mind’s changed. It doesn’t mean I don’t want either of you to be unhappy.” “You’d probably excel at being his mate,” Harry retorted glancing at the blond cautiously. He knew the blond was trying to live up to his father’s standards, the amount he acted like him proved that much. He’d have probably fought off enough of the spell to be able to speak up against Snape. “Once you get used to just how helpless you are once you’re too close to him and all that you can smell is that scent that drives you to want things you normally wouldn’t want. It defeats your ability to think for yourself.” Draco was silent and Harry looked at him, he’d expected some sort of retort but instead the boy was staring at him a look of shock on his face. Harry quickly looked away trying not to come up with the conclusions Draco must be drawing in his head. “Being lust driven to a person isn’t all that great when you think of what you give up now, don’t you think?” “I didn’t know it reacted on the mate quite like that..” Draco said in a quiet voice. Harry picked up a nearby walk and threw it towards the water with a grunt. “Harry.. what happened?” Harry glared at the blond, he could already see the horror beginning to build behind those grey eyes and Harry knew Draco had already come to the correct conclusion of what had happened on his own. Harry looked away in time not to see the pity he didn’t want to see. He just wanted to forget about it and move on. Why couldn’t he do that without others bothering him? Harry stiffened when he felt arms wrap around him but he breathed out slowly forcing himself to relax. He looked at Draco and sighed as he gently pried the blond’s arms away from him. “Now you know why I can’t forgive him.” “How would he have known he was taking advantage of that?” Draco asked quietly and flinched beneath Harry’s glare. “I’m not taking his side.. but if you weren’t able to say something, wouldn’t he have thought you were alright when you didn’t move away?” He didn’t want to talk about this.. but Draco was fighting for an explanation of it just being a misunderstanding. Harry closed his eyes and took a shaky breath. “It’s not just that... He..” Harry swallowed, why was he telling Draco? “He didn’t even prepare me... It hurt, I was able to say no then.. to ask him to stop. I begged him to and he kept going .. harder each time I asked..” Harry shivered and wouldn’t look towards Draco now as he fought to keep himself under control as he remembered just what it felt like to be torn open. He felt a hand on his back and he lost the control and Draco pulled Harry against him. Harry cried on Draco’s shoulder wondering if he would ever stop crying about it. He still hurt because he hadn’t allowed Snape to heal him and it remained a reminder of the afternoon. *~* “Headmaster!” Draco called hurrying down the hall when the old wizard stopped in the middle of heading into Snape’s quarters. It’s been a week and a half Draco hadn’t seen anyone coming in or out of them since the password had been changed, since the incident with Harry. “How is he?” No matter how much he wanted to he couldn’t excuse Snape’s actions towards Harry. Snape was born a vampire, he would know the effects on the mate in theory and he should have been in control of himself. Draco wanted to hear Snape’s side of it, even if it didn’t help Harry any in coming to terms with it and that no matter how much he ignored and relished that Snape was in hiding that he would still have the pull to be with the man. “Come in Draco, the hall is not the place for it,” Dumbledore said after a moment’s hesitation. Draco followed Dumbledore into the rooms and looked around expecting Snape to be sitting on the couch but the man wasn’t anywhere to be seen. “He’s locked himself in his bedroom once the thirst began getting to him.” “He hasn’t been feeding?” Draco asked startled as he looked towards the man’s door. Who knew how long Snape would last before falling into blood lust, attacking and most likely killing anyone he got his hands on to make up for all the meals he’d missed. Thanks to blood banks the man had a constant supply of blood there was no use not to go on feeding. “Would you happen to know what made him this way Draco?” Dumbledore asked kindly sitting down on the couch and Draco slipped into the less used armchair he liked. ‘Yes’ his mouth wanted to say, but it wasn’t his tail to tell and neither Harry or Snape would be thankful if he told the headmaster. Knowing wouldn’t make the old man know what to do next. Shaking his head ‘no’ caused Dumbledore to frown and look into the fire as if trying to will out an answer from Snape’s enemy. Grey eyes drifted to the dancing flames anyhow wishing quietly that the mentor his father had hired to teach him the entirety about vampires were here, perhaps he would know what was going on with Snape aside from the guilt. “Excuse me a moment Draco, I’d invited Severus’ mentor here to try help him and he’s arrived,” Dumbledore told him and Draco blinked thinking it odd how he seemed to think of something Dumbledore had already thought of. Who would know his godfather more than the one who had taught him all there was to being a vampire? When Dumbledore had left Draco stood and moved over to the door of Snape’s bedroom standing outside it hesitantly. He wasn’t foolish enough to try go in after learning the vampire hadn’t fed in a week and a half but he knocked gently hoping to only get Snape’s attention. “Uncle? It’s Draco,” he fidgeted at the door hoping the man hadn’t set up silencing wards. “I.. I know what happened.” Draco laid a hand on the wood of the door waiting in silence for some sort of reply, at least a show of concern to know if Harry was alright. The man inside remained silent as the moments passed by slowly. Draco shook his head wondering if the man had even heard him. He turned at the sound of the portrait opening and blinked as he recognized the long haired brunette that walked in after Dumbledore. “Dom? You were my Uncle’s mentor?” Draco asked incredulously moving away from the door to greet the older vampire with a handshake. Draco was pleased when it didn’t seem as if the vampire was towering over him anymore. Draco grew over the years but Dom had reached his adult height when Draco was still a child. “Hello Draco, yes I was.” Domitan Hartrick said with a warm smile directed at Draco. The tall brunette easily matched Snape’s height or was even taller. Unlike Snape though Dom had gentle features compared to the sharp ones that Snape sported and even though he was older than Snape the man looked much younger. His smile came easily and made anyone’s heart swoon at the sight of it, man or woman alike just as it was affecting Draco at the moment. “I still consider him my student, even if he hasn’t needed my tutelage in some years though. I’ll be happy if I can help. Do you know what set it off?” The question was in the air for either of them to answer and Dumbledore responded before Draco could think up a lie the longhaired brunette would believe. Blue eyes met Draco’s though and Draco stopped trying to think up lies but remembered enough not to say anything while Dumbledore was in the room. Dom always was able to tell when he was over thinking a yes or no answer. “Professor Dumbledore, I’m terribly sorry but would you leave me to chat with Draco alone?” Dumbledore looked to Draco questioningly, only earlier he had told Dumbledore no but he was proven a liar in front of the old man. He had the disgrace enough to look away shamefully as Dumbledore nodded to Dom. Draco didn’t look back up until he heard the portrait door close and he was alone in the room with his former tutor on vampires, who happened to be one himself. “I take it, it was Severus your father was wanting to set you up with,” Dom said breaking the awkward silence and glided smoothly to the couch. Draco sighed with a nod and walked back to the small sitting room and sat down on the couch as well this time. “Is that why you are here? You’ve become lovers?” “What?” Draco asked startled and shook his head foolishly. He stared at the beautiful face of Domitan, when he was younger he never appreciated the beauty but Draco couldn’t help but staring for a moment. A gentle touch made him come back to earth and the vampire gave a small shake of his head. Blushing Draco continued. “No, I’m here because I’m worried about him. He’s my godfather after all, he’s been in here for a week and a half, and I just learned he hadn’t been feeding.” “Yes, I know the time span Draco,” Dom told him nodding some looking concerned before he pressed on asking the question he’d first asked with Dumbledore still in the room. “Do you know what happened to make him hide in his room?” “Yeah, I do..” Draco said slowly and still wasn’t certain if he should elaborate even though he trusted what he said to Dom wouldn’t make it’s way to Dumbledore’s ears. “Don’t know where to begin to elaborate?” Dom asked misjudging his continued silence. Draco gave a small nod anyhow even if he still wasn’t certain about telling he knew Dom would get it out of him one way or another. “Do you know if he’s found a mate yet?” “He has.. but..” Draco replied and paused watching an eyebrow rise and he knew he had to continue elaborating from ‘but’ and gave a small shrug. “He’s a student here.. Uncle’s mate. His mate no longer wants anything to do with him.” Dom looked confused and draco closed his eyes, it was hard for him even to say it but perhaps it was because he was still wanting to deny it happened. “Sev hurt him.. well raped him the day before he locked himself in here.” “That would explain it then..” Dom sighed and stood up looking towards the door that opened to the sanctuary the black haired vampire made for himself. “Honorable Sev would be guilty for it and try to help his mate get over the lure of his scent. Most vampires wouldn’t be so guilty knowing that the mate wouldn’t be able to resist returning once catching their scent once more. Can you go get his mate please?” “He doesn’t..” Draco began and fell silent when Dom looked at him. “Has he been feeling sick?” “Huh? Yeah.. he missed classes today because he got sick after forcing himself to eat breakfast.” “Tell him he’ll feel better when he returns here then,” Dom said and turned towards Snape’s bedroom and walking in without waiting for Draco to argue. Draco sighed and stood to do as he was told. he wasn’t going to refuse a vampire’s request. *~* “Where did you say we were going again?” Harry grumbled as he followed behind Draco growing nervous as they descended the stairs to the dungeons. Harry didn’t want to be walking around, he was feeling sick to his stomach and was growing a headache but Draco had said he knew how to make him feel better but now he wasn’t so sure he wanted to know his solution. “I didn’t say where, but there’s someone who wants to talk to you,” Draco said stopping in front of the portrait of a snake. Harry’s eyes widened and he shook his head to turn around to return to the library where he had been having a nice time with Hermione. He tried to pull out of Draco’s grasp when his arm was caught but struggling only made him feel weaker. “It’s not Uncle Sev, but he’s in here. I won’t leave your side, I promise. Sev locked himself in his bedroom so you won’t even see him.” Harry was leery, he still wanted to pull away and run but Draco was still holding onto his arm while he knocked with his free hand. Harry was going no where but into the place he didn’t want to go. Why had he trusted Draco? Harry wound up clinging to Draco’s arm as the portrait swung open to admit them and they stepped into the room. Draco led him over to the couch but Harry shook his head and sat down in the less worn armchair trying not to stare at the couch that was now stainless. Instead he stared at the fire bringing his knees to his chest as he fought the temptation to run now that Draco released him, it wasn’t too late yet. The sound of a door opening drew his eyes as a man he didn’t recognize walked out looking upset. He caught sight of them and walked over folding his tall form to sit on the couch next to Draco. “Harry, this is Domitan Hartrick. He was.. is,” Draco corrected after a look from the man. “Uncle Sev’s mentor in all things vampire, and when I was younger he was also my mentor.” Draco introduced the brunette to Harry and turned his gaze to the other man. “Dom, this is Harry Potter. Uncle Sev’s mate.” “I’m not his mate.” Harry said coldly even though he knew it was untrue when he said it he was trying to ignore the spell of a vampire’s mate had on him. He was hardly realizing he was feeling a little better than he had been earlier. “Harry Potter..” Domitan said his name quietly but it made Harry’s focus return to the man. “It would figure Sev’s mate would wind up a strong wizard, this might prove more difficult.” “I told you..” Harry began but was cut off with a wave of the brunette’s hand as the tall man stood and walked over to him he leaned back staring up into the same blue eyes that Snape had, knowing already the man was a vampire. “Yes, yes. That you are not his mate,” Dom continued for him placing his hands on the arm chair and leaning perilously close to Harry’s face. Harry couldn’t help but realize how beautiful this vampire was and licked his lips nervously. Dom chuckled and touched his cheek. “Of course you are his mate, you were once sick weren’t you? You look much better now. Even the remnants of his scent on furniture not been touched in a week holds enough of the lure to settle your stomach and remove the headache.” “I...” Harry began nervously now as he began to realize the man was correct but he felt sick to his stomach for whole other reasons now. “I don’t want to be..” “There’s a more truthful reply,” Domitan told him. Harry was getting confused as he breathed in the brunette’s scent, it didn’t hold the same lure to it that Snape’s scent had but it was still enough to make him squirm anxiously in his seat as he tried to fight off the effects. He was scared he might become as helpless once more if he let himself surrender to them. “Harry, I know what happened. In human terms it was rape and Severus is feeling horrible he put you through that, but vampires can fall to instinct too readily and it drives them without thought of what they are doing and everything else is muted. Understand that if Sev could have heard you, he would have stopped. The first time with a mate is always questionable if a vampire falls victim to instinct, especially with the first mate they come across.” “First?” Harry was trying to take in what Domitan was telling him, but there really was no excuse for rape in his world.. but if it was an instinct of a breed to fall deaf.. Harry shook his head. It was better to try understand what he meant by first. “I thought vampires only had one life mate.” “Studying on us have you?” Dom asked with another chuckle and smiled warmly enough to make Harry feel his cheeks redden with warmth. “Yes, vampires only have one life mate in humans when the human dies it passes on to the next compatible. When vampires find their life mate though after a time they’ll turn them and once vampire the human life is over and mate compatibility moves on to another human. That’s why vampires are always misconstrued to live in covens, though that would be the most appropriate term for it or harem would be another good word. Vampires generally have and live with more than one ‘wife’ but as compatibility doesn’t matter with gender people don’t realize even the men or women in the following of the dominative vampire are also his or her mates.” “Wouldn’t turning the mate into a vampire mean that they’d have potential mates among the humans?” Harry asked, none of the texts he’d found even came close to explaining that part of vampire life. Perhaps there wasn’t much known about it and vampires weren’t wanting to help with the guides to be found out in human society. “Yes Harry they would, but the lure to look for them would be null as you’d still be under their mate’s control. Unless of course they were given permission from their mate,” Dom explained. Harry could hear an amused undertone of the man’s voice but the man gave him more to think about. Even when a vampire they’d still be under the control of the vampire mate, it really was too much to think about. In the beginning you become the slave to the scent and get potentially raped, and in the end you’re still a slave to the vampire. “Of course I can teach you more about vampires than you can learn in uninformed textbooks later. We do have to return to the topic of Sev.” Harry looked away, he didn’t want to talk about Snape. Instinct or not it was still rape in Harry’s books and he didn’t want to be put around the man to feel so helpless again. He looked back up into those blue eyes when he felt another touch to his face and shivered involuntarily, he almost fell back into the mind state he’d been in just by looking into Dom’s eyes. Dom frowned a moment but whatever the vampire was thinking was pushed away. “How had you expected your first time with him to be?” Dom asked startling a gasp out of Harry. The man smiled though his eyes never releasing Harry’s. “I’m sure you imagined about it before it finally happened. Had you fantasized about Sev taking you into his arms and kiss you passionately? He carefully strips you of your clothes as his hands take in your body, hands sliding over your warm skin and feeling your muscles seem to flutter beneath the strong hands as you arch into them so readily.” Harry was falling into a daze as Dom spoke of his fantasies, seeming to get them exactly right as if the man was pulling it from his memory. The vampire went on about how Snape would tease him as his long fingers slid into him cold with lube and stretch him out properly and when he was ready slid into him slowly. Dom’s voice was but a narration as Harry began to imagine everything Domitan explained in great detail, his body was aching for it to become real as Dom spoke of Sev making passionately slow love to him to push him over the edge more than once before the vampire managed to come filling him with his seed with a cry of his name and how much he loved him. The space between Harry’s face and Domitan’s closed in a bruising kiss as Harry surrendered to the vampire his body arching into the man’s touch as his hands roamed. The kiss left him breathless as Dom finally pulled his mouth away and yet Harry mewled displeasure anyhow causing the brunette to laugh and pull Harry into a hug. Harry smiled and wrapped his arms around the tall vampire blushing when he felt his arousal brush against Dom’s and heard the man’s gasp. Draco sat staring at the two horrified and yet highly aroused after listening to Dom’s voice explain such a scene in such great detail and wanted to receive such a kiss from the longhaired vampire. He was confused though, wasn’t Domitan wanting to get Harry to want to see Severus again? Why had he kissed him? “You can have that you know..” Domitan whispered in Harry’s ear, stroking the smaller man’s back gently to sooth the boy’s anxious nerves at having to breath in the pheromones he’d released and forced Harry to breath in with each breath as they had been speaking. Draco had also been affected by them but he’ll sooth the blond later. “But you will have to see him again. Do you want that?” Harry calmed slowly in Dom’s embrace but he didn’t lose the arousal he had after imagining one of his fantasies. Slowly he began wondering about Dom though, he’d kissed him and the man was being so gentle with him. It hardly occurred to him he’d kissed Dom while thinking he was kissing Snape. He made a sound of protest when Dom pulled away once more and lifted his face. “It’s not me you want Harry, I was just explaining the true Sev to you. Your body just reacted to mine as you had mistaken me for Sev because of the same dominative presence we both hold. Now.. do you want that sort of scene ever to play out?” “Y-yes sir,” Harry stammered staring into those pretty blue eyes. His body ached for something to happen even as his mind began to fall out of the fog it had been to think that he shouldn’t want it. He did though, he wanted the real thing even more than he wanted to fear Snape. “Good,” Dom told him brushing hair away from Harry’s forehead and sat down in the armchair that Harry had been sitting in before he pulled him up for a hug. He smiled at Harry’s confused look. “Are you ready to see him now?” Harry shifted on his feet even as his head nodded when a part of him wanted to say no. A larger part now wanted to see Snape and try to see if things could be set right between the two of them. “Yeah, I am.” Harry stood at the door way to Snape’s bedroom nervously after Domitan had explained to him that the man hadn’t fed since the incident and said he’d most likely go after Harry to feed before anything else could be done or said. Harry was nervous if the man was in a blood lust what would stop the man from killing him? He was having a hard time believing the man would have enough to of a fill on his blood to not need to drain him and would refrain from doing so as Harry was his mate. Biting his lip he took ahold of the door handle and pushed the door open. He was greeted by cold air brushing over his bare skin and shivered, it felt like winter in the small bedroom. He looked around the dark room for a moment and stepped in slowly spotting movement around the bed that was sitting against a wall. Harry blinked when he found Snape in front of him and shivered for an entirely different reason than the cold. From the light from the other room he could tell Snape’s eyes were changing from blue to a red, a sign of the blood lust he was told. “Harry..” Snape’s voice was raspy as if left unused for too long. Harry wanted to run out the open door taking a step back when Snape leaned closer. Harry bit his lip when he felt the chill of the wall at his back through his clothing as he watched Snape fight for control to not attack him. Harry frowned, he didn’t like seeing Snape this way and soon he no longer feared the fact that Snape was wanting to attack but to want to help him. Harry pulled at his collar to expose his neck and tilted his head to the side catching Snape trying to move towards him but still holding himself back. “It’s alright.. You can feed.” That was all the invitation Snape needed as self control was thrown out the window and Harry was pressed against the hard wall from Snape’s body. Harry gasped looking into those reddened eyes for a moment before exposing his neck further for the dark haired vampire and flinched slightly as teeth sunk into his neck. Harry sighed his eyes closing as he slowly began to think just how erotic being bitten can be and blushed lightly. Harry opened his eyes as he felt the man’s mouth pull away from his neck. Harry was extremely light headed and his hands held onto Snape’s robes even though being sandwiched between the wall and Snape’s body kept him standing. Harry blinked when he noticed a look of anger cross Snape’s face and Harry wanted to pull away suddenly even though he didn’t know why the man was angered so. The man lifted him and carried him back to the warmer rooms of his quarters and stood glowering at Domitan as Harry tried to understand why Snape was so angry. “Why the hell does he smell like you?” Severus demanded glaring at Domitan who had one Draco Malfoy in his lap. The brown haired vampire looked up and smiled looking completely unfazed by the angered Potions Mater, even as Draco pressed closer to Dom. “Dom.. why does he smell like you’ve had your hands over him.” “Because I did,” Dom responded nonchalantly running a hand over Draco’s back to try calm the boy who was suddenly afraid. “I was proving a point to him, but don’t worry.. he just thought I was you. I’ve no interest in your mate.” Harry realized that Snape was the possessive type quickly and wondered if the man was wanting to beat his mentor for even considering doing such a thing. Harry shifted in the man’s arms a little uncomfortably, he hardly wanted to know Snape’s reaction if Snape learned they had kissed whether he was thinking the man was Snape or not. He settled his head on Snape’s shoulder feeling tired from the blood loss. Snape grabbed attention at that and moved to sit down on the couch settling him in his lap still. “What point were you trying to prove?” Severus asked as he felt Harry shiver and summoned a blanket to settle over him. He needed to talk to Harry but the boy was half asleep and it wasn’t the time to try. He gave a small nod to Draco when he felt those grey eyes on him and Harry. “He’s alright Draco.. just tired from the blood loss. He’ll feel better when he wakes.” “That he still wanted you sexually,” Dom replied a little more cautiously than he had when he’d admitted to touching Harry. He was confident Severus wouldn’t attack him then but Severus knew first hand how he would prove a point sometimes quite physically. He watched his student bristle angrily and was pleased the man wasn’t willing to dump his mate. “I didn’t allow it to go far Severus, he was reacting to the scene I know would be on anyone’s mind when fantasizing sex scenes but as you could scent I added some persuasion to make him respond positively.” “You didn’t do more than that?” Severus asked with an untrustworthy look at the man, hardly believing the man had left it at that. Dom was a pervert, there was no way he would have released Harry with just that. “We kissed,” Dom responded with a shrug holding up a hand to keep the man from yelling. “That is all, we kissed and then just hugged him when he complained when I’d pulled away. I made certain he knew it wasn’t me who he was longing to kiss at the time, he shouldn’t feel any further after affects from it.” “Don’t expect him to react to you as readily as before though Sev, I might have proved to him he still wants you but he won’t be willing to try all too soon,” Dom said in a softer voice as Severus looked back down to the sleeping form of his mate. Severus nodded though, he already knew that and he didn’t want Harry to fall back to reacting like he had been if he responded the same way to him as the first time. “It’ll be alright Sev, you know what you’re prone to and now you’ll be less likely to let instincts take control.” Severus looked back of at Dom with a small smile at the older vampire his gaze falling on Draco who remained in Domitan’s lap and smiled. “You both make a cute couple.” Draco blushed while Dom laughed and pulled the boy closer to him gently patting the blond’s cheek. Draco looked up at Dom as if waiting for him to respond. “Poor Draco responded to the pheromones I was forcing on Harry quite readily.. He could wind up a compatible mate though.. “What do you say Draco? Are you wanting to become my fifth wife?” Dom asked the boy smiling gently at the boy’s surprise and eager acceptance anyhow. He chuckled and shook his head. “I’ll ask you again when you’re not still responding to the pheromones that still linger.” Severus sighed as he watched the two curiously. He looked down to Harry and frowned hoping to talk to him and apologize once again for what happened. ***** Take it Slow ***** Disclaimer: I do not own Harry Potter or anything associated with it. They belong to Rowling and I am making no profit.   Severus shifted beneath Harry as the boy continued to sleep on as Dom and him talked while Draco might as well been sleeping as well at how silent the boy had been. It’d been a while since him and his mentor had spoken and they had been close while the older man had been teaching him everything. He wished to be alone with Harry when he spoke with him when he woke but he didn’t feel the boy would be comfortable with it, he wasn’t comfortable with it when he thought about the last time they’d been alone together. Severus was disappointed in himself, he’d done what he’d promised himself he wouldn’t do and fell prey to instinct something Dom had warned him about in the beginning when the topic had moved to mates. He’d promised himself in front of Dom and that only made matters worse as he sat here with the brunette, called here to get him out of his self loathing after what he had done. He didn’t know what was worse, that Dom knew he fell prey or that he’d fallen to a common human emotion when he usually let things slip passed him easily whether they upset him or not and that Dom had found him in that way. He’d locked himself away for a simple reason, to stay away from Harry. The boy wouldn’t have been able to completely get over him, but enough that if they came within range of each other the boy wouldn’t have been feeling the same effects. He was making it easier for him and didn’t want to force himself on the boy after he hurt him so. Yet here he was sitting with the boy in his lap and having small talk with someone he hadn’t seen for years. Looking down at Harry he hadn’t expected the boy to sleep very long but they were running out of things to talk about and Dom seemed to be getting tired but wanted to remain until things were sorted out. Draco was there presumably to keep Harry safe and the fact that so long as he was around Dom he was still feeling the effects even hours later because he still continued to smell the man’s scent rather than the pheromones he had once released. “He hasn’t been sleeping very well,” Draco said speaking finally when he’d spotted the man watching the young brunette wrapped in a blanket. “Would lack of a sound sleep be the same sort of reaction as the sickness?” “Could be the sickness that had been keeping him awake,” Dom said smiling down at the blond and looked at the subject they were talking about. “Or memories that bothered him..” Severus’ frown deepened, he should probably move the boy to the chair before he woke in case waking in his arms would bother the boy. He knew the memories that disturbed sleep, he’d had little sleep for whenever he closed his eyes he’d seen the look of pain and fear that had been on Harry’s face, the scent of blood filled his nose remained locked in the memories. It wouldn’t be a leap if it bothered the boy more than it had bothered him, if not equally so. A groan interrupted Severus’ thoughts and all three of them focused on the waking wizard as emerald eyes fluttered open to stare into Severus’ and widened, his body stiffening in his arms. Clamping down on the feeling of his stomach clenching painfully at the scent of fear that came from the boy he lifted him and carried him to his armchair sitting the boy down within it still covered in a blanket and returned himself to the couch before the boy could say anything with words. Harry blinked at him though and shifted the blanket around him before seeming to relax some at the sight of Draco and Dom before returning those emerald orbs to Severus. “I’ve a question.. why was your room so damn cold?” Severus’ lips twitched up into a smile while Dom laughed for the both of them, the tension was still there but it didn’t feel quite as palpable. His eyes flicked over to Dom before he responded when the man’s laughing quieted to a chuckle. “Vampires natural body temperature is significantly lower than a humans Harry, but in regular temperatures our bodies heat up causing us to expend more energy than needed. It’s best to be able to lower it back down to normal temperatures at night, or during the day, in a chilled room or a muggle freezer.” “So some things in muggle media hints at the truth?” Harry said a little startled and spotted the confused looks from the three in the room. “In old movies vampires were found in cellars or places I’d imagine be rather chilly.” “I would imagine then that the muggles got one thing correct,” Severus said blandly as he thought of the films portraying vampires inaccurately to the muggle populace. “Perhaps the creators of those know of someone who had some semblance of knowledge by someone who’d come across a vampire and lived to tell the tale.” “You fed on me and didn’t kill me, is it rare for vampires to allow muggles to live?” Harry seemed to want to keep the topic away from what Severus was wanting to talk about, to perhaps put it off and Severus was willing to allow Harry that for a small while as he considered what should be said. “Normally no, especially not in the past. It’s admitting there are magical creatures out there that need to remain hidden or fictional,” Dom responded in Severus’ place giving a small shrug at the look of disgust he’d received. “It’s not that I approve of it, many look for a donor within the magical community to get their blood, others like Sev have connections in the muggle blood bank if they don’t mind it not being fresh.” Severus raised a brow at Dom knowing that it was only part truth but someone as steadfast as Harry wouldn’t like the third option some vampires such as Dom enjoyed for a meal if a donor wasn’t available. Severus returned to look at Harry and met those emerald eyes that were looking at him with a hesitant look to his gaze. Severus shifted away not wanting his scent to ruin any reasoning skills the boy had and to keep him from reacting to the scent of him as his mate. “Harry, I know an apology doesn’t take back what had happened but I want to apologize again..” Severus began when there was a pause in the topic of vampires and he had to take it. He feared if he left the topic sliding to different areas that he’d never get to work things out properly and have Harry remain fearful of him. “Domitan explained it to me, about why it happened,” Harry told him with a slow smile that looked sad. The gaze shifted and Harry was looking at his knees and Severus watched him fidget uncomfortably. “I still can’t consider it as anything but rape though, even if at the fault of your species.” Severus frowned and gave a small nod, he’d gone without a mate for this long knowing he had one might be hard but if Harry didn’t wish to follow the pairing Severus wouldn’t fight it. It was only lust he’d felt for Harry nothing more he knew but it didn’t stop the thought of going on until Harry’s life ended knowing he had a mate but not being able to do anything about it, he didn’t want to force anything more on the boy. “I have to accept though that I have to give this a try..” Harry said after a moment’s hesitation uncertain how to word it. Even after a week of not seeing the man he’d still felt the lure to see the man, no matter how much he’d hated what he’d done. Harry looked up to spot hope and confusion behind the half placed mask that had fallen and he gave a weary smile. “It doesn’t mean I want to have sex with you.. Not yet.. not after..” Harry closed his eyes shaking his head, he didn’t need to end the sentence so he let it hang. Even though Dom had proven to him he might actually want it he didn’t want to fall into the same helplessness, he still feared the same thing would happen once more and he wouldn’t be able to stop it just like before. It was rather his fantasies he wanted after all, Snape was just the one that was part of them. “No, of course not,” Severus murmured somewhat numbed by what Harry was saying. Perhaps over the years it was bravery the boy had been exhibiting, not stupidity with good luck that Severus had always thought of the boy and his adventures. To fear him but yet admit that he’d still push passed it would need the Gryffindor bravery even if the boy was originally supposed to be in Slytherin and was now in his proper place with Weasley’s stupidity. “Compatibility in mates does not include sex, it’s not a necessity and I don’t blame you.” Harry nodded his gaze was still troubled. He still believed he wanted to be around Snape more than he wanted to fear him but he needed to try see if it could be possible to overcome that fear. He didn’t want to have sex, he’d survive with his fantasies for the time being. He pulled his feet up onto the chair his knees pressed to his chest as he thought about it, perhaps the fact he still wished to have the fantasies was because he still wanted to have sex. He’d have to let that thought settle and simmer while in private. His eyes shifted back to the other vampire and the blond sitting in his lap. “Does this mean you two are mates now?” “No Harry, not mates in the terms of you and Sev,” Dom answered as Draco’s cheeks turned a light pink. The blond seemed to stare at Dom further about the answer and Harry was curious by what that meant. Dom only chuckled and tweaked Draco’s nose. “You’re almost unaffected by the pheromone blast I’d given the two of you but you should still remember my question to you.” “You weren’t only teasing? As you say, I’m not a compatible mate,” Draco said as Harry went from curious to confused. What exactly did he miss while he was asleep? “No, I wasn’t teasing. Vampires don’t need to restrict themselves to compatible mates, but many do so,” Dom responded a smile brightening his face as he looked at the surprised look. He hadn’t thought Draco would have been willing and knew the Malfoy trait was possessiveness so he was curious how it would play out if the boy agreed. “Besides.. I think I know my type enough that if you lived long and whatever mate is out there passes away you’d have a chance at coming in line of compatible. I know you well enough to know this. I do have four other wives however, are you wanting to share a lover with that amount?” “Don’t forget to include that after him there may be more added Domitan,” Severus added on concerned that his godson gets the entire truth from the older vampire, the man always found ways to keep from giving the full truth to get what he wanted. He didn’t want Draco to fall victim to heartache and knew the boy’s possessive gene as well. “Not until a century or two later, he would have learned of it by then.” Dom said with a pout but looking at the two clad in black he knew it shouldn’t have been something to withhold from the boy at all, not in the least before turning him. He gave a weak smile to the boy in his lap who looked at him accusingly and sighed. “If it’s not something you can live with, don’t feel the need to say yes because I asked. I do admit by the time I’m ready to add another to my belt that I do allow you to search for another mate for yourself if you wish it.” “So your wives have husbands or wives of their own?” Harry asked causing the three to look at him since he’d fallen silent when the new topic had started. He gave a weak smile, he now realized how Hermione might feel when she’s wanting to learn as much as she could on a topic. “Yes Harry,” Dom said with a kind smile not minding the question at all. His gaze turned to Draco for a moment, his eyes questioning if the boy was alright with him talking of them. “Just because I’ve got a taste to find another mate I won’t leave them to watch me with others. I dote my time as equally, but the newest addition normally gets a lot more sexual time with me in a way of training and enjoying the new companion. They are free to have mates of their own outside me at that time and enjoy themselves, they’re married, not slaves.” “You wouldn’t turn me right away would you?” Draco asked gaining Dom’s attention back with a hesitant smile. He knew the man had other wives, but he was attracted to him nonetheless. He would need to get used to the idea and see if he could get over the personality trait of possessiveness. “Of course not Draco, you’re not yet fully developed and I will not stop your growth here,” Dom responded with another easy smile and slid his fingers through Draco’s blond hair lightly still enjoying the thought of having another mate finally. “Those born vampire grow as humans do until the age of twenty then their process slows down drastically, though can be altered depending on the type of life lead. Those turned vampire though are halted in aging at the time they were turned. You would still have a few years yet until I’d truly bind you to me, plenty of time to make up your mind if you’d like to truly be turned and bonded to me for eternity.” “I’m willing to give it a try then, so long as I can back out if I find I can’t come to terms with sharing,” Draco said cautiously, he knew his mentor to some degree and knew the man could turn possessive as well. He smiled at Dom’s nod and leaned back against his chest wondering if he could learn to see Dom’s wives in similar positions with Dom. “Would I meet them before I’m turned?” “If you wish it,” Dom conceded with a smile stroking the small of Draco’s back and heard the soft sigh. “During the summer I could bring them to the Malfoy manor for you to meet.” Harry and Severus watched the two in silence both of them silently wishing it had turned out that easy for whatever relationship they could muster. Dom spotted the two and gave a soft smile towards them an arm curled under Draco’s legs and he stood carrying the small boy easily. “Professor Dumbledore said he’d added another bedroom to your quarters for me, I am tired and I believe the two of you would do well with some privacy.” Severus blinked and nodded carefully looking to see Harry’s reaction. There was nervousness but the boy looked almost thankful that there would no longer be further distractions. Severus looked at the doors that lead off the main room and pointed to the newest. “That one there should be it. Though if you plan to keep Draco with you to make certain he has a comforter to huddle under.” “Like I’d forget that Severus,” Dom said a hint of amusement to his voice. “I do not need my new mate dying of hypothermia.” The man carried Draco through the new door and now Harry and Severus were alone since the incident that happened upon the couch Severus was sitting on. Harry shifted uncomfortably and Severus was wondering if he should just suggest that perhaps that Harry leave if he was too uncomfortable to be alone with him yet. He looked up and caught emerald eyes watching him and couldn’t help but wonder what was going on behind that guarded face. “Are you wanting more than one mate?” Harry asked suddenly making Severus blink. Harry though it was an honest question before agreeing on even trying to make an attempt with the man. “Harry, understand I hadn’t even been looking for one mate at all until you bumped into me,” Severus replied cautiously. He felt foolish for the answer but though he knew the affects a compatible mate went through around him he still had the feeling no one would want him anyhow. “I don’t believe I’d ever wish to look for a second either, but vampires are essentially immortal aside from fire and beheading that could kill us. So who’s to say what either of us would want in the future if you do decide to stay with me and allow me to turn you, which will be your choice as well. If you decided to live a human life and still be with me I wouldn’t hold it against you though would hope you’d change your mind before death.” “I wouldn’t be willing to be that cruel to allow you to watch me die if we remain together,” Harry said the last part of Severus’ explanation hitting him the hardest, for the simple fact that if he had stayed with the man long it would be because he loved him and would not wish a loved one to watch him die if it could be prevented. He gave a small smile to the gentle one he received to his response. Harry shifted uncomfortably still rather uncertain about being alone with the man only a week after the rape. “Harry, if you wish to leave I won’t take it negatively. I know you must be uncomfortable being alone here,” Severus said slowly hoping he wouldn’t have needed to make the suggestion but making it anyhow. “No, I’m willing to stay for a little longer,” Harry replied as he considered the things he’d learned that night, wondering if there was anything else he had questions about vampires or Snape in general. Remembering idly about Sev getting his blood normally from the blood bank and how Dom had implied it wasn’t as good as fresh blood he gave another smile to the man. “Sir, would you prefer a donor rather than the blood you get from the blood bank?” “You can call me Severus Harry, or the shortened term both Dom and Draco insist on using, Sev,” Severus said with a small smile even as he wondered if he’d rather enjoy the boy calling him derivatives of ‘master’ instead. He shifted as he considered Harry’s question, it was no question that he preferred fresh and after trying Harry’s he wondered if the blood he got from the blood bank would ever seem as filling again. If he turned Harry though, they’d both have to turn to the blood bank anyhow, and he wondered if it would be better to not spoil himself on fresh. “Why do you ask Harry?” It was almost an answer to Harry already smiling briefly at the permission to use the man’s name. He remembered the times Severus fed off him vividly, and remembered the erotic thrill that had ran through him. He’d enjoyed being bitten and thought that so long as the man wouldn’t turn him or try anything else without permission he’d have no troubles. “I’d be willing to act as your donor so long as I remain human.” “Are you certain Harry? Being a donor can be rather.. intimate,” Severus said shifting in his seat at the prospect of having a reason to touch Harry even for a few minutes to feed. He watched Harry nod though and smiled to himself realizing that maybe the boy had enjoyed it. “I could survive with feeding twice a week, but it might wind up daily if I become as addicted to your blood as I can tell I might wind up with the two feedings I’d already gotten.” “Th-that’s fine,” Harry stammered slightly thinking about the prospect of being called to Severus daily to feed him. He’d already known from the two times it could be rather intimate and yet he already allowed him to feed after the incident, it would be rather hypocritical to say he wouldn’t be willing to be a donor for that reason. “I’ve one more question though Sev... How old are you really?” A snort escaped Severus at the last question even as he relished the shortened name on Harry’s voice. A smile broke out on his normally frowning lips and he resisted the urge to reach out and pat Harry’s leg as he answered. “I would think you’d be able to guess, as I did attend school with your parents Harry, as you well know. I’m thirty-six however, and I was born a vampire if that becomes your next ‘last’ question.” Harry smiled meekly wondering why he’d expected anything more to that answer if he’d remembered the reason Severus had hated him so much was because of his father, the man would have to have been a teenager then. He glanced at the door that Dom and Draco had disappeared behind and he heard a small chuckle from the older man. “Only Dom, and perhaps his first wife knows his true age. He’s much older than me but I cannot guess at how much, by this time no matter the age of his mate he’d be considered a cradle robber anyhow.” Harry grinned even though he continued to wonder how old the older vampire was, in physical terms he’d looked no older than twenty-five. Harry squirmed with anxious energy, he should be tired but he’d already slept most of the evening away so he was far more wide awake than Sev seemed to be. “How’s this really going to work anyhow? Teachers aren’t allowed to date students are they?” Severus frowned at the new question, until it had been asked he hadn’t considered it much passed the first time it’d crossed his mind. He still owed Dumbledore an explanation for the absences of last week, he couldn’t tell the entire truth to the old man but perhaps the old coot would allow reason. The man had been mentioning for a while he should attempt to find his mate, it would be fun to enjoy the look of surprise he would get from the man when he informed him he had. “No Harry, but Albus is smart enough to realize not to mess with a vampire and his mate.”   “Mint Humbugs,” Severus stated to the gargoyle sitting guard to the headmaster’s office. The gargoyle jumped out of his way and Severus stepped onto the spiral staircase making his way with slow ease, only the mastering his nervousness from not showing for years of hiding his feelings. It was the afternoon of the first day he’d come out of his locked rooms and though Potions was not to start until tomorrow he still needed to give the man an explanation, especially when he’d learned that morning that Dom had practically kicked him out of his quarters. “Severus, I’m glad to see Mr Hartrick managed to coax you out of your rooms,” Dumbledore said a pleased smile on his lips, presumably pleased with himself for thinking of inviting Domitan here. “Lemon drop?” “You know I must decline Albus,” Severus said, folding his long frame into a seat without bothering to wait for the old man to tell him. He drummed his fingers on the arm of the chair watching the old man in silence, wondering what would come of his news. “Of course Severus,” Dumbledore said with a nod and Severus wondered why the man kept up that appearance of being polite. “I hope there is a good reason for your unexpected vacation?” Severus’ lips pulled back into a grim line at the polite phrasing, it was hardly a vacation and he’d preferred if the man had used different wording. Wetting his lips he gave the briefest of nods frowning more when the wording he’d though of escaped him. “It appears fate had agreed with you Albus when you’d been prodding me to find my mate. I’ve found my mate in the most unlikely of persons.” Severus watched a look of surprise cross Albus’ features followed by a look of concern as the old man concluded what that would entail while stuck within Hogwarts walls until the end of the school year. “I hope you mean you’ve found them in Hogsmeade Severus, and why would that entail you to lock yourself away without feeding?” “You know I rarely visit Hogsmeade Albus, so it is quite obvious that it has turned out to be a student,” Severus said in an even voice correctly guessing that the man would have a look of horror, he wondered idly how he would look when he told him the identity of his mate. He’d already prepared an easily, and believable lie about the week absence. The man didn’t know as much about vampires as he liked to believe. “I’d locked myself away in hopes of lessening the effects on the boy that my scent would hold over him, in hopes to wait until he was of age.” “Who is it?” Dumbledore demanded sharply once Severus had fallen silent. The man was obviously in a panic he’d attack him and he was correct in that worry. “Harry Potter.” Severus said in a soft voice tensing only slightly as he said his mate’s name. He didn’t know what to expect from Dumbledore who was always so protective of his favorite student. He didn’t have to wait long to see a flash of anger slip across the man’s face but the man was holding it in quite well. “You are certain?” Dumbledore asked stupidly. Severus narrowed his eyes and Dumbledore caught himself with an anxious sigh. “Of course you’re certain. How long have you known?” “Since the dance when the boy bumped into me,” Severus replied honestly. The man was taking the news well, even as he caught another look of anger within those eyes when he mentioned the length of the time. “I’d no intention of following with it, however the boy was making a lot of advances and it was getting hard to resist which is why I’d tried to keep out of the boy’s range by closing myself in my rooms.” “Do you still intend on making a move once he’s of age?” Dumbledore asked standing up with the need to pace. “He knows I’m a vampire now Headmaster, as well as the fact that he is my mate,” Severus said more cautiously now as he watched the man uncharacteristically pace, he had the strange feeling the two of them changed personas for it was normally him who paced. Severus pressed forward continuing the lie to try get the man to know the boy was able to think clearly in his presence, not from the week break but because of the rape. “The week did as I expected it would and the boy is able to think clearly around me. He’s willing not to wait when it comes to simple relationship building, and I’m not keen on doing so.” “So what you are asking is to allow you to break the rules that prohibit teacher - student relationships?” Dumbledore asked, his voice losing the warmth as his feet stopped and he’d turned to look at Severus as if he were crazy. “What of the fact he is not of age?” “We do not plan to have such intimate relations until he is of age,” Severus replied in a calm voice. He rose to his feet now his hands smoothing the small wrinkles from his robes before he met Dumbledore’s too blue eyes once more, it was almost startling that the man was a human with the simple fact that he’d never seen that clear of blue on anything but vampires. “However I was not asking you, I felt obligated to inform you of it and I have. Harry is willing to speak with you outside my presence so you’d get clear answers from him, but you wouldn’t get anything different. If you would excuse me Albus I have some things to do to get ready for tomorrows lessons unless you mean to let me go because of these circumstances.” “Very well,” Dumbledore almost sounded defeated when Severus thought about it. Severus raised an eyebrow as the man remained silent for a moment. “Send Harry up after he’s finished classes, I do wish to speak with Harry to be certain his agreement hadn’t been coerced by the pheromones you produce around him.” Severus nodded and turned on his heel walking out of the office and down the spiral staircase with the impressive flourish of his robes. His tongue darted out over dry lips before he stepped out from behind the gargoyle and back to the hall on the seventh floor. Feeling rather triumphant he made his way back down to the Entrance Hall and after a moment of hesitation stepped outside onto the grounds to find Harry near the lake with Draco and Dom under the shade of a tree to share what had surpassed within the Headmaster’s office. *~* Harry sat before the headmaster anxiously, he’d never seen the man so bothered about something. He gave the briefest of smiles to the old man knowing it was the situation he was put in that had Dumbledore so bothered and almost angry. Harry didn’t know why the man would to angry so much as bothered, it was still Harry’s life this was happening to after all. “Severus tells me the news you’ve learned he was a vampire Harry,” Dumbledore said starting things off slowly rather than jumping straight to the point. “How had you learned of it?” “Since I bumped into Sev at the dance I’d had a strange attraction to him,” Harry said slowly. He hadn’t expected the question and fidgeted in his chair as he considered the truth that would underline his suspicions. “I’d been trying to find an answer to it, he’d caught me in the library after hours trying to find something and the locator spell I’d used had brought up books that pertained to vampires and he seemed almost nervous I’d found the answer. I’d had the suspicion since then.” “How’d you find out your suspicion was correct?” Dumbledore asked and Harry realized the man was looking for a reason to deem the man unsafe to work rather than firing him at the reason of the fact he’d found a mate. Clenching his fists he gave a small shrug. “I’d been taking private potions lessons with him, at some point his glamour fell.” Harry said cautiously, not pointing out the fact it fell while the man had fed on his blood. “After learning I was his mate I figured it was because he’d lost his concentration on the glamour while trying to ignore the urges being close to me put in his mind.” “Had he attacked you Harry?” Dumbledore asked, his tone was serious. “No, he didn’t.” Harry hoped that sounded as believable as it sounded to him, but he’d never quite lied to the old man before and he had to start now. Harry shifted uncomfortably as he heard the man sigh but the man seemed to have run out of questions to try to get Harry to get the vampire into trouble. Harry was glad because he didn’t think he could continue to lie and keep it believable when the rape still bothered him. Dumbledore looked at him with a concerned look now. “Severus is wanting to follow through with this pairing. He’s assured me after his week of avoiding you that you could think more clearly around him to give an honest answer. He told me you had agreed to it in his presence, but are you so certain now that you’re not near him?” “Yes Professor,” Harry told the man, holding his head still from nodding in case it went the wrong way and said ‘no’ in shaking his head. He was still nervous but he wouldn’t allow Dumbledore to know that. “Alright Harry,” Dumbledore said, his tone defeated and Harry wondered if the man was so concerned he was being forced into the relationship. “You may go.” “Thank you Professor,” Harry said standing up and smiled at the man, somehow he thought the man was having a harder time with this than he was. “You don’t need to worry sir.. after all the fact we were paired as mates, generally tells that we’d be good together.” “Yes, but the lust in the beginning isn’t actually love Harry,” Dumbledore replied, and Harry knew all too well it was true. “Just the reaction your body has to the pheromones.” “That’s how all relationships begin sir, even in humans though not quite as strong,” Harry said reasonably. He walked to the door and gave a small shrug. “The only thing a person can do is try something out and take things slow and get to know one another.” “You’re right Harry,” Dumbledore said in a quiet voice, the boy already gone from his office.
