Words: 1475 ****** Crazy Little Thing Called Love ****** by kawaiikaikuu Summary "Crazy Little Thing Called Love" tells the story of Castiel Novak, a young teen with a lot on his plate. With his religious and strict father, Father Jimmy, and the pressure of being on not only the school's football team, but also the track team, this teen's got a lot on his mind. His life feels like Hell on Earth, until he meets a handsome punkish farmboy named Dean Winchester. Castiel's life is turned upside down, flipped around and spun as he discovers this crazy little thing called love. A soft, chilly breeze blew through the open windows of the small church, giving all that were inside the time of day.  All whom lived in their community knew that a chilly breeze meant that it was nearly five o'clock. The sun wasn't setting just yet, but it was getting fairly close. That had meant the Thursday tutoring session was coming to a close. "Ah. We should finish tomorrow, Isaac. I'm sorry I couldn't do much more to help you with the test." "That's okay, Castiel! Thank you for doing your best! I'm gonna go home and tell my mama that I'm definitely gonna pass the test!" A small young boy leapt up from his seat in the pew and raced down the carpeted walkway, carrying his books and backpack close to his chest. A fairly young- looking woman approached him and smiled at the teen who'd been teaching him, and waved before walking off with her son. Castiel sighed in relief and looked to the clock on the wall nearby. He had only an hour before supper, and he didn't want to waste it in the church. He had plans to escape to his old treehouse in the nearby wooded area, and listen to his favorite tapes without any interference from his siblings, or his father whom hated his choice in music. But, before he could even stand, the faint sound of the door opening, followed by the hum of a familiar tune made him jump. He peered over the pew's backside and saw another teenage boy approaching him with a somewhat cocky stride. It made Castiel raise an eyebrow as he stood up, wiping his pants of dirt before approaching him. "Excuse me? Can I help you?" He asked, placing his hands over his belt buckle as he stood there, looking the male up, down and sideways. He didn't look like he was from the area. He was wearing a leather jacket that was tattered and torn, a light green flannel shirt underneath, and some very dirty looking boots. The male pulled the earbuds from his ears and he too stared at Castiel, which was a little unsettling. "Uhm.." Castiel didn't really know what to say. He was a bit confused, and even a little scared. "Is there something I can do for you? Or are you looking for Father Novak?" He smiled and shook his head. "I ain't here cuz I wanna be. Dad said I gotta get better grades or I won't be gettin' his sweet ride. So uh.. Are you the tutor or whatever?" This boy's accent was a little difficult to determine what he was saying at first, but Cas eventually understood what he wanted. "You'd like me to tutor you?" Castiel was surprised by this. He didn't expect any new students. He already had quite a few, but he could consider adding another. "I guess I can add you to the list. But you're late." "Late? Shit. I had to walk from school here." The other teen groaned in dissatisfaction. "That shit took forever! Can't ya add me to an extra time slot?" Castiel raised a brow. "Another time slot? ..I'm not sure. I only get an hour before dinner after these sessions." He didn't want to waste his precious time with another student, since he barely had any time to do the things he liked already. With his father breathing down his neck about church and college, he could barely even breathe without being yelled at. He just wanted an hour a night to himself so he could listen to his music in peace. "C'mon man! I'll pay ya or whatever." The scruffy-looking boy pulled out fifteen dollars out from his pocket. "I was gonna buy the new Queen album with it, but uh-" Castiel cut him off with a gasp. "You.. Like Queen?" The other smiled wide and nodded. "They're the best, dude! I've even got concert tickets for July." He said with an even wider grin. "Sick, right?" Castiel nodded and was suddenly struck with an idea. Maybe this other boy would be alright with listening to music while he tutored him? That way, he could get his fill of Queen and AC/DC, and the other could study. "So uhm-" Cas didn't exactly know his name, and yet, he was a little nervous to ask. He didn't want to offend or pressure the other teen into becoming familiar with him if he didn't desire to. "Dean. Dean Winchester. Sorry, I uh.. should'a mentioned that." Dean said with a sultry laugh, scratching at the back of his neck. "You're Castiel, right?" Castiel nodded and extended a hand out for a shake, in which Dean shook vigorously. "It's nice to meet you, Dean." "You too, dude." "Anyhow.. I believe we can come to a compromise, if you're willing." Castiel said, in hopes that Dean would agree to his terms. "Shoot." Dean said with a smile as he kicked back in one of the nearby chairs, rocking on the legs slightly. The creaking of the chair itself was driving Castiel mad, but he took a deep breath before speaking again to calm down. "Well, as I said before I only get an hour to myself at night before I go home, which is usually five to six o'clock. During this free time, I listen to the music my father doesn't allow in the house and tend to my plants. Sometimes I'll study if there's a test and-" "Hey, Cas, buddy, get to the point." Castiel twitched at the nickname but sighed and tried to get himself back on track. "I apologise. What I was going to ask was if you'd be fine with being tutored in my old treehouse nearby. That's where my radio and tape player is. We'd listen to my music.. If that's alright with you."  He closed his eyes tightly and crossed his fingers, nervous. He couldn't believe he was trying to ask a stranger to listen to music with him. "As long as you don't mind my stupid dancin', I think I'll be alright. You're a Queen fan too, ain't ya?" Dean said with a soft laugh, smiling at him again. But this time, it was much more genuine. Sweet, almost. "Cute.." Cas couldn't help but feel his face heat up from that. He nodded in reply. "Then no problem! You and I'll be good buds if you like the rest'a the music on my mixtape." Dean chuckled, throwing his arm over Castiel's shoulders. Cas felt small compared to the other. Dean was not too much taller than him, maybe and inch or so, but his muscular body and stance was a little intimidating.  "If you.. don't mind me asking, what else do you listen to?" His voice was small, mostly because he wasn't used to such close contact with others. He was barely hugged or even touched by the members of his family. His little sister was the only affectionate one. "I like all kinds'a music! Iron Maiden and AC/DC are killer! I can't get Back in Black outta my head!" Dean said, his arms and fingers transforming as he began to play air guitar. It made Castiel laugh and smile wide. Dean looked at him once he heard Cas's laugh and he nearly froze. He had the cutest laugh Dean had ever heard in his entire life. "You're quite the 'rocker', Dean." Castiel said once his voice was calm. "But you're lucky that I'm your tutor. I love those bands as well.  But Queen is my favorite." "Totally dude, I understand. They're real bad." Dean said, needing to shake himself out of his trance. Castiel stuck out his hand for a formal handshake. "To seal the deal. I'll tutor you, and you'll listen to music with me. Deal?" "Hell yeah! Deal!" Dean smiled and eagerly shook his hand with a force Cas wasn't expecting. His hand was twitching after. "Well, shall we head to treehouse before it's too late?" Cas glanced down at his watch, seeing it was almost five thirty. He didn't want to miss out on listening to the new Queen song he'd heard on the radio. "Yeah, let's go. Can ya show me how to use that CD player thing?" Dean asked as he stood back up, throwing his backpack over his shoulder. Cas smiled and chuckled softly, nodding. "Sure, Dean. Just don't break it." He said, leaving the church and heading out towards the woods nearby with a slight smirk on his face. Dean grumbled and raced after him, his boots stomping against the newly fertilized grass. "Hey! I might be strong but I don't break every damn thing I touch!" Castiel laughed and kept walking, slowing his pace so Dean could catch up. He had a good feeling about this. ..Whatever "this" was going to be. Please drop_by_the_archive_and_comment to let the author know if you enjoyed their work!
