He lets the wolf hold him as if death itself isn’t kissing him when the wolf’s hot lips press against his neck. Notes This is a work of fiction so the terminology and logic behind many things are NOT TRUE/LEGIT. This was just an idea that I had since a long time so please keep in mind that I'm not well versed in biology or genetics, I'm still doing my research! Please don't look into this very seriously as none of this is possible in real life. This story will have dark, depressing themes so if you're uncomfortable with such aspects, please don't proceed further. READ THE TAGS VERY CAREFULLY. Plot is heavily based on Arranged Marriages/Relationships, marriages at very young ages, Age gaps (NO PEDOPHILIA, PLEASE DON'T CONSIDER THIS AS SUCH. It’s common for teenagers to have sex, please don’t look past that), some Dubious Consent (NO RAPE) and Strict Parenting because the former is something that I fear and the last one is something that I'm already very well used to. So this is just me trying to make a fairy tale about it AND FAILING MISERABLY. This story won't be perfect or cliché because sadly life isn't too. I'm sure you guys get the hang of it. I hope this will be up to your expectation. There will be mistakes that I will correct soon. ***** Chapter 1 ***** Chapter Notes See the end of the chapter for notes   It was the first week of summer but the temperatures were already scorching. Taehyung bursts into a convenience store, panting as sweat ran down his neck and back, making his button down shirt stick up to him like a second skin under his suffocating business suit. He had been in an important meeting earlier, actually interested in this new concept their team was introducing before his father, who was seated beside him had shattered the little peace he had found. “We will be meeting the family next week, Taehyung. Please clear you schedule so that…” Whatever else his father had later spoken was completely lost on Taehyung as his bloody angrily thrummed through his body, annoyance sizzling under his skin so intense, he was sure that he might burst a vessel. Well, that would be better than this bloody nonsense anyway. A sick, twisted feeling rose in his stomach as he abruptly stood up before he could throw up all over their important business documents placed over their squeaky clean glass table and promptly sprinted out of the room. And now after wandering the busy streets of the Gangnam-gu district for only half an hour, he felt like he was going to die from dehydration and maybe Taehyung should just sit on the concrete and let the sun suck the soul out of him so that someone else's soul could survive. He had once wanted to be able to choose, to be able to give his heart the freedom to love whoever it wanted. In a world like theirs, it is impossible. So it’s safe to say that Taehyung never read fairy tales, and having stumbled upon them only a few years back, he couldn’t believe that a long time ago -probably - people could choose who they love.  If only he could fall in love just once..  He further stalks into the shop, irritation itching at his skin at his unjust life while he unbuttons his blazer and pulls out a black headband from him pants’ pocket to push his sweaty hair out of his eyes. He takes in a deep breath, hand running through his hair as he turns his face towards the air conditioning unit above him. The cool rush of air is a comfort to his heated skin and he’s about to untuck his shirt, formality be damned because it’s too fucking hot—when he stills, fingers involuntarily loosening their hold on the fabric as he’s hit with a strong scent. He breathes in thorough his mouth and that maddening scent just sticks to the roof of his mouth, drips down the back of his throat and seeps onto his tongue. In his twenty two years, Taehyung had never smelled anything this heavenly. He snaps his neck towards the source and he swallows hard, taking a silent step back as his eyes land on black bunny ears softly bobbing behind a mountain of food held by thin, pale arms, their feet hurryingly stepping forward, but wobbly due to their obscured vision.  A tired huff is heard and Taehyung freezes completely, he doesn't know why he hid what he did but he keeps his feet nailed to the floor as he watches the bunny step forward moving right in his direction, and only a few more steps, some more, just one more and before he knows, they collide with a burst of colorful food packets and a clash of scents and classes.  Predator and prey. Wolf and bunny. Sin and Innocence. Taehyung gets into action in the last second after hearing the boy’s soft, surprised cry but manages to catch the bunny boy before he falls backwards and onto the floor. He grips the boy’s waist tightly, pulling his body towards himself to resist gravity’s stubborn pull. Taehyung’s breath is punched out of his lungs when the boy uncrosses his arms that earlier covered his face, slowly bringing them down to curl near his chest.  And he's shocked dumb, world suddenly tilting away from its axis because his heart is just thudding so fast, almost scared, shying away from the pure innocence in his arms as his lungs fill with the scent that his lungs seem to have fallen in love with. Whatever Taehyung’s feeling right now, he has never, ever felt that way. He takes in the boy’s quivering bunny ears, fluffy raven hair that falls as soft bangs, covering his eyes that Taehyung so desperately wants to see, then at his soft cheeks still chubby with baby fat, a cute twitching nose, pink parted lips, unmarked neck and his small, lithe body, soft but too bony at the same time. Taehyung stares, he stares like a hungry wolf staring at the juicy meat he had just found after starving for months, years, maybe all his life.  He waits for the bunny to look at him but he doesn’t, eyes not rising past Taehyung’s shoulders. The boy swallows, and Taehyung sees his Adam’s apple bob roughly, fear slowly seeping through his scent but instead of the sour tang Taehyung expects, the bunny only ends up smelling sweeter even when quaking with fear. The boy wrenches himself out of the wolf’s gasp, stumbling backwards as he repeatedly bows, apologizing while quickly picking up the items that he dropped earlier. Taehyung is brought back to earth when they separate and all he can think is-- I want him. I want him. I want him. He’ll take good care of him, give him whatever his wants and feed him well until he’s soft and healthy not so skinny. He’ll give him a home, a heart to keep and--   “I-I’m—I’m s-so s-s-sorry—I was-wasn’t l-looking. I-I couldn’t s-see..” As the boy trips over his words and increases the distance between them, he sees a tear slide down his cheek, shining like a crystal in the store lighting and Taehyung’s cruelly reminded of what he is. “P-Please, don’t h-hurt me— I’m-I’m M-Matched.“ A predator and prey. Again. Taehyung watches the boy who has shaken him up fear him and the wolf’s heart sinks, sudden grief swallowing him whole at the rejection like he has just lost the most important thing in this world and he’s shocked at having such a stupid, weak reaction towards a bunny boy, his prey, someone who’s already Matched and he’s ashamed, face heating up. But it’s the boy’s quivering frame that he follows with his eyes as the smaller boy briskly walks up to the counter and Taehyung keeps watching as the boy hurries to the glass doors but skids to a stop, slowly turning around and Taehyung spins on his heel before their eyes meet, walking deeper into the aisles, before he’s hurt even more. And just like that Taehyung learns his lesson again - he can never have what he wants. Taehyung wonders why the boy didn’t have a collar if he was marked. ~ Taehyung’s heart is being haunted. Since yesterday, he can’t seem to get the boy out of his mind and Taehyung had tried everything and anything to get his mind off him but he’s unable to forget his scent and his parents give him concerned looks when they see him moping around the house, sniffing his sweat stained shirt from yesterday like some kind of addict. Hell, Taehyung can’t even smell himself anymore, only that sweet scent remains and he’s ready to rush to the nearest psychologist when he gets the idea of licking his shirt. He’s going to lose his fucking mind at this rate. He’s down to hunt the boy, he was definitely able to pick up the scent yesterday right after he got out of the store and he had to control himself because the boy was Matched and so was Taehyung. As an Alpha, he has a strong sense of smell and he wanted to hunt the boy down, capture him and ravish him—Taehyung lets out a whimper at his train of thought, sick of himself and his animalistic desires. They’re hybrids – half animal but half human too.  Human. Human, human, human. Yes.. human. Definitely not the wolf he’s suppressing, not the animal that wants to claim that bunny and possess him, mark him up and have the boy pinned under him- No.  Taehyung doesn’t want to accept that he is a monster.  “Taehyung-ah. Come, sit.” He’s dragging his feet towards the stairs to reach his bedroom when his mother speaks, voice soft in request. Taehyung knows what’s coming but he still sits before him parents because he was raised like this, to listen to his parents, to give their words more importance than his feelings, to believe that their decision was the best for him.  Fucking bullshit. “Son, you can’t behave like this when we have a meeting in five days. It’s better that you start preparing.” His father starts. Don’t get Taehyung wrong, he loves his parents but they do a wonderful job at destroying his feelings. “I’m aware that you are not pleased with this arrangement but we have no other choice, last week’s test results have come and this is the best potential Match so far.”  There’s that feeling again, the bitter bile rising his throat as his eyes grow dim with every passing second. He hates this. Hates that the only purpose of his life is to extend their family further, pass on their surname and mate just for the sake of having pups. It’s not fair.  It wasn’t Taehyung fault - or anyone’s for that matter - that their wolf population was declining this quickly. And not only wolves, almost all predators’ population was suffering due to a numerous causes, the most concerning one being the rise in the infertility rates of the females. It started a few decades back and his parents always tell him that they were lucky enough to have him, an only child. Their government has taken drastic measures to help the predators since it was very necessary to maintain a balance. Taehyung doesn’t want to understand his role in this.. in this fucked up situation.  It’s not like Taehyung doesn’t want a mate. He does, he wants a mate too, want someone to love and care for all his life. But given the current circumstance, things have turned more practical and methodical. Right before the mating, the carrier is given suitable supplements and hormones to push them into a mating cycle, the couple are then given two to three weeks’ worth of time for the impregnation. If the results are not positive by the given time, the couple are separated and the process begins again. And what terrifies Taehyung the most is the interbreeding itself, the whole concept.  When he was first registered in the mating program, Taehyung was seventeen and he had cried in relief when no possible match for interbreeding was found for him. He had heard hundreds of horror stories about the mating gone wrong and a hundred more about miscarriages and death of the carries. And don’t get him started on changing Matches over and over again. He couldn't take it, the knowledge that he could possibly kill some innocent carrier because predators were decreasing in count just didn't sit well with him. There's a deep sadness in his heart and he prays that the meet next week doesn't go well. It's his first time getting a Match and he wants to reject them. But no matter how much he protests, he knows that things won't work his way. Damn the government. "There's nothing to worry about. Their base animal is capable of having many off springs at once. If this works, them we're set for, Taehyung-ah. The officials will be impressed and you'll never have to work a day in your life for the compensation they will give you--" Taehyung's mother is kind. She's kind, she has to be because she probably saw the agony on his face but as Taehyung bolts from the couch and into the nearest bathroom to puke his guts out, eyes watering from the burn in his esophagus as well as from the terror, he thinks that kindness died the moment their biology started fucking up. How could his parents think about the money when he was forcing someone to mate with him and carry his children? He muffles a scream by pressing his face into his knees, sitting on the cold tiles of the too large and spacious bathroom and he has never felt this alone, this weak. He can't do this, he's just not strong enough to do something like that, to mate with someone and watch them die when their biology rejects his. No amount of injections could support life when it wasn't mean to be. And the worst thing that could ever happen would be the forced mating that so many prey go through and no one fucking listens, not a single soul. Taehyung would never stoop so low as to force himself on someone. But then again, consent is a words that almost doesn’t exist anymore.  The wolf is so tired, so done with keeping his feelings all bottled up if his alpha father saw that breakdown of his, he would have slapped some sense into Taehyung. When Taehyung gets out of the bathroom, everything is dark and only the small motion sensing lights flicker as he slowly pulls himself up the stairs. He wants to plan something and get out of this mess but his mind stays blank, and he knows that their department would hunt him down if he tried something funny. Wolves don't like it when they don't get what they want, after all.  He stares at his ceiling all night, lying motionless on the bed. There's only one thing that still has a home in him head. That bunny boy.. Though he would probably be mated with someone else, he hopes that his predator won't be harsh on him. He wishes that he will have a painless mating and be happy with his mate and children.  Taehyung turns to his side, curling into a ball as he lets a few bitter tears fall, when he’s reminded that his life ahead would be full of horrors. But a part of him is happy that he won't kill the boy since he would never be his. With the given mortality rate of carriers involved in werewolf interbreeding, the bunny’s soft, frail body won't be able to carry the wolf's pups at all.  Taehyung's happy that at least, boy will live.  . . . Apparently, Taehyung's parents want to show off in front of his Match because they are dressed to the nines, an extravagant display of jewelry adorning his mother's frame while his father dons on a crisp suit and a watch that costs a fortune. Taehyung adds this to the list of fucked up things he has encountered so far. In this world, you belong to any one status - Predators, the rich and Prey, the less fortunate. "What's the need to rub our wealth in their faces? They're going to feel more inferior than they already do." Taehyung's deep voice cuts through the silence of their car and his father gives him a warning look. "Darling, don't put it that way. We're just assuring your Match that we are capable of taking care of them." There she goes again and Taehyung's caught between loving his mother and hating her. She has a way of speaking that calms others but that doesn't affect Taehyung anymore. He turns his head away, looking out of the tinted window with a grimace. He tries to understand where they are and from the looks of the amount of vegetation surrounding them, Taehyung tries to guess who his Match could be. Taehyung is reminded of a time just a decade ago when predators tried breeding with different families, a stupid thing called pride making them try such thing. It failed, the off springs were born weak or not born at all since the clash of dominant genes from two different classes and species was impossible to balance. Maybe they were all meant to die, Taehyung thinks, grinding his teeth. But no, these sadists turned back to the prey because their traits are recessive, successfully enabling the predators to dominate the off spring’s genes and the world had been ecstatic, breathing a huge sigh of relief as they stole the preys' basic right to choose who they mate with, taking away the chances of them giving birth to their own kind. So maybe the bunny boy would never hold his own kit and it saddens Taehyung to the point that he has to take in a shuddering breath to not lose his cool. What was happening to him? Being brought up as an Alpha, he was strictly forbidden from showing any weak emotions. The elders didn’t seem to understand that emotions couldn’t be controlled and with the amount of emotional whiplash Taehyung was receiving the past week, he’s bound to lose it. Taehyung never believed in love, so love at first sight? He wants to scoff rudely but then again, why was he so into that boy from last week. Taehyung refuses to name the emotion suddenly rooted into his being. While he's lost in his head, he doesn't notice that they have arrived, jerking when his father lays a hand on his shoulder. He tries to give Taehyung an assuring smile but Taehyung is still angry, so he breaks out of the car, slamming the door shut with a loud boom. His mother doesn't even bat an eye, linking her arm with her husband and starts leading the way. Taehyung looks around and sees... lumps. He cocks his head to the side, narrowing his eyes at the clearing in which he's standing in. If he was passing by on any normal day, he would have thought that this was a beautiful meadow with lush green grass and tiny flowers growing in strategically placed bushes.  He glances around and spots a wooden sigh that says, The Burrow. Taehyung blinks at the sigh then sweeps his gaze in amazement, having never seen a rabbit's burrow. Then.. Then, could it be possible that his bunny boy could live here somewhere? Taehyung's gaze jumps around, only catching family name plates stumped into the ground. If only he knew his name.. But what would he do anyway? The boy was safe and Matched, not in the wolf’s league. Taehyung's heart bounces in his chest as he takes long strides to where his parents were standing, gingerly looking down at the stairs of the burrow entrance. With a shaky smile, his parents start descending, Taehyung's father holding up his mother's long gown for her and the wolf just follows behind the pair, eyes quickly adjusting to the dark. As they get deeper, it gets cooler and Taehyung is so grateful for that. There's a door a few feet away from the bottom of the stairs and he throws a look back, squinting at the sunlight that falls inside, illuminating the passage. The entrance is covered with stone tiles, giving it a neat, open look and Taehyung had actually though that they were literally going underground, wrestling through mud and dirt. The door suddenly opens while Taehyung wonders what it must feel like to live here away from the people, away from the sun, the rain and the cold. He quickly focuses on the couple who open the door and the wolves bow in return after a deep bow from the rabbit family. The wolf first notices the couple’s white ears, a part of him relieved that it’s not the boy’s family – they would have black ears like him, wouldn’t they? Taehyung's mother starts her magic, letting the soft caress of her voice put the rabbits-- Taehyung glances at the family name, not wanting to refer them according to their base animal, the Jeons - under her spell and they get wide smiles, eyes crinkling at the corners. Taehyung wonders if his Match shares this feature as well. They are ushered inside and for a second Taehyung can pretend that they are old family friends with how quickly both the couple fall into conversation and he's surprised when both the woman hug but then Mrs. Jeon speaks and Taehyung feels as if he’s hit brick wall. "Taehyung-shi, it's nice to finally meet you. We were very eager to see you and you never came all the time your parents visited earlier." The woman has a kind smile, meaning no harm so Taehyung directs his glare to his parents who happened to go behind his back and meet the family before him. His alpha father brushes the look off with a chuckle. "Don't give us that look, son. We had to start preparation early because apparently it's Jungkook's first Match too." Taehyung sees red, his buried down wolf instincts coming up to the surface faster than he could control after knowing that his father, although a mated alpha knew his Match's namebefore Taehyung did. Taehyung's mother, noticing the change, rubs a hand down the wolf's back before hell breaks loose, trying to soothe him. "Calm down, Taehyung-ah." She pleads with her eyes, whispering. "You'll scare them." Oh, Taehyung wants to scare them, all right. He knew something wasn't right when there was not a flicker of fright in the Jeons' eyes and guess he was right all along. But he sucks it up because if his life has been even a little bit easier, then it was because of those few times when Taehyung blindly followed his parents' - mostly his mother's - instructions. So he plasters on a smile, bowing again in apology. Mr. Jeon claps his back, with a smile on his face as pulls Taehyung inside for a tour, into a few tunnels and Taehyung's head hurts from the number of rooms - nests, as Mr. Jeon had called them - they passed. They were mostly empty except one – hismate’s! Taehyung panics – as the other Jeon kits were supposedly already mated, healthy and alive withchildren. Taehyung doesn't miss the special emphasis and smiles stiffly. Did this man not care about his children at all?  "You would be the first wolf in our family, Taehyung-shi." When Taehyung hears this, he loses all hope. No wonder all his children survived. They never mated with a wolf. Taehyung's feet hurt from the tour of the too big burrow and he doesn't know if this is a rabbit thing, meaning all the burrows being of similar size or maybe this family was doing better than the rest. From the looks of the expensive furniture and interiors, they were well off. While they walk back the way they had come, Taehyung catches a whiff of something sweet, something—“What's wrong, Taehyung-shi?" Mr. Jeon asks, curious as to why the wolf stopped walking although he might have an idea why. Taehyung just shakes in head, mumbling a flustered 'nothing!' and walking ahead. He’s getting fucking delusional. Taehyung doesn't even conceal his sigh of relief when he finally plops his ass onto the soft cushions of the couch, leaning back against the backrest, knee bouncing as he slowly turns anxious when both the couple start whispering from the doorway of the living room, completely ignoring him. The women's laughter rings in the silence and Taehyung's parents walk over to sit beside him.  His father grips his wrist suddenly and Taehyung's eyes shoot up to meet the older Alpha. When he speaks, Taehyung is shocked at hearing the authority in his voice. His father never uses that voice in their home and had only used once on Taehyung to reduce his hysteria when he had hurt himself when young, having fallen off while climbing a tree in their backyard. Back then it was to assure him, comfort him and now to dictate and control him. "You're not going to ruin this, alright? This is the most perfect Match you could ever have. You don't even know how much we invested in this. Rabbits are expensive, Taehyung and you will mate with your Match. No matter what." Of all the things said, in Taehyung's forced submissive state, the last three words ring in his head the loudest. No matter what. No matter what his Match says, no matter how they didn't want this, no matter how much they screamed and no matter how much they cried. So Taehyung had to sin. Fine, then. Something inside Taehyung changes in that moment and a part of his brain switches off, shutting down his emotions, the innocent part of his heart tears itself away from the rest of his blackening heart and gets lost somewhere in his ribs. His father seems satisfied by his change in the demeanor but his mother clutches the fabric of her gown in white knuckled fists, not meeting his eyes. She's scared, Taehyung realizes. For a second, her mother was scared of her alpha and Taehyung knows that his Match would probably fear him from the moment they see him. Taehyung's looking at his feet and his father must not be pleased with the lack of dominant display but the Jeons bring in his Match at that moment and Taehyung is not ready, was never ready and never will be. It was a long way to hell and every moment would stain him some more, make him unholy, only worth of-- Nobody told Taehyung that sometimes, we need not die to go to hell. Hell will come to us because maybe we were not even supposed to have some meager amount of peace in our lives, cursed from the start. His resolve goes flying out of the window. Taehyung's hell is personified with a scent that drives Taehyung crazy, that he absolutely cannot refuse. So with his emotions going haywire, heart suffocating his throat and eyes red, he lifts his head up slowly unable to even pray for a miracle because he knows that it's too late. The bunny is already in the trap, struggling but it will still get devoured because hunger empowers morality and humanity. No. no. no. no. no. no. no.. This wasn’t supposed to happen. Everything was going so, so wrong. It was never supposed to turn out this way.. The wolf doesn’t know how he held back his sob but through the blurry vision, he sees the boy being pulled until he’s seated right in front of Taehyung, almost disappearing into the plush loveseat. “Taehyung-shi, our youngest kit and your Match, Jeon Jungkook.”  Fate works in a funny, stupid way - cruel most of the time. Taehyung doesn’t understand. Everything was just fine five minute ago – no, it actually never was – and now his world is crashing all around him, leaving him bare and vulnerable, the walls of his heart are seizing painfully and now Taehyung whishes his lungs were too, until his veins stop pumping blood. Their parents leave, claiming – ‘Why don’t you two get to know each other while we plan a few more things, hmm?’ and they’re left alone, a melancholy wolf and a terrified bunny. The bunny ears that had Taehyung mesmerized right from their first meeting are limp over the boy’s small shoulders, twitching in fright. They sit like that for minutes, silent while Taehyung stares at the boy with blank eyes and the boy – Jungkook, continues to ignore looking at the wolf. The boy is clearly not dressed up for the occasion, wearing a grey checkerd shirt over a red t-shirt and black shorts, fisting the black fabric tightly, unintentionally exposing more of his pale skin. And Jungkook is so very pale probably because of his home being a burrow, unlike Taehyung whose skin has taken a golden hue from the sun’s constant love. Such a lovely boy.. Looking at Jungkook, the wolf thinks that he wouldn’t have to wait till hell for punishment, hell would be living with him in a few days and he will be existing in constant fear that any day could be their last one together. He would have to mate with the only one he could ever possibly love, making the boy hate him for taking away his freedom from his at such a young age--  Taehyung gasps, gripping the fabric of the couch to ground himself. “How- How old are you?” The boy jolts, ears stiffening once, clawing at his thighs and biting his lip, head cast down, bangs hiding his eyes from Taehyung again and the wolf wants to hug the boy and tell him that everything was alright and nothing would hurt him. But Taehyung doesn’t want to be a liar too.  “Jungkook-shi, look at me.” The boy stills, sniffs once and quickly lifts his head, meeting Taehyung’s eyes and oh, he’s so lost. The wolf doesn’t know how much time passes, minutes, hours or eternity as he’s sucked in a void, a black hole that are Jungkook’s wide doe eyes, so dark and deep, adorned with thick, slanted lashes.  For the first time, Taehyung looks, absorbs every little detail that he can see from his enchanting eyes to his nose, to the flushed cheeks and to his bitten red lips and finally taking him as a whole because Taehyung’s memory didn’t do even a little justice to the beautiful, otherworldly creature sitting before Taehyung. “Seventeen.” The bunny might as well as hop over and drive a sword into his heart and it would hurt less. Taehyung stands abruptly, shocked out of his wits and shaken out of his morals when he hears that single word and his nightmares come out to dance around him, screeching gleefully into his ear. “No, no, no.. No, I reject you, I can’t do this—You’re just a kid—“ Jungkook eyes widen in alarm, expression morphing into something akin to fear and in a second the young boy is on his knees, before Taehyung’s boots, bowing until his head touches the ground. Then, he looks up. Taehyung sees terror. “Please—Please, I’m s-sorry. I can- I can—I’m not a child. Please, accept me. I’m r-ready. I can- can g-give you.. please d-d-don’t l-leave me h-here. I know what you want--I’ll do any-anything..” The boy heaves, begging like his life depended on it. Taehyung feels the words burn as they slap against his skin, seeping through his clothes to scorch his flesh raw, leaving him a bloody, burning mess. “Anything, any-anything, anything. Pups, you w-want p-pups, I'll take them-- I can, I s-swear I’ll give y-you—“ Jungkook chokes over his sobs, probably spitting the forcefully rehearsed words, shuffling closer to rest his forehead against Taehyung’s thigh for two breaths and Taehyung stumbles back, gracelessly falling back on the couch. “I’m good, really- I k-know how to cook, how to- I'll k-keep your house clean, I.. I.. I can, I’ll—I’ll be good..” “S-Stop, stop it!” The wolf will be forever haunted by those words as he belatedly realizes that the younger boy is brain washed, completely gone from having his mind stuffed up with all kinds of fucked up things, probably taught these things since his parents found out that he would be a carrier. He has to get out of here before his wolf takes over, the kind of wolf that can’t resist the boy offering himself to Taehyung. Jungkook looks up from his spot, standing shakily and throws a look at the still empty doorway, hurriedly wiping his tears away and turns towards Taehyung again. And the wolf knows that something is very wrong as the bunny hugs himself desperately.  “Please.. T-They’ll- They’ll.. please—I d-don’t want to s-stay here. Please, I can’t, can’t, can’t, just can’t—Don’t w-w-wanna.. Please,Alpha.” Taehyung ignores his body's reactions, concentrating on the important matter at hand. Jungkook's parents..? “What will they do?” The boy tugs at his t-shirt, trying to maintain eye contact with Taehyung. “I’m-I’m the last kit.. smaller and weaker than all my hyungs.. They don’t exactly.. like me. And,” The boy whispers, unconsciously reaching up to pinch his black ears then quickly withdraws his fingers, as if just realizing his actions and Taehyung’s wolf is slowly beginning to take over, him human side withdrawing, unable to cope up with the disturbing scenarios. “No one w-wants me so—“ “I do..” Taehyung whispers. It’s not him anymore, he's sure because he almost doesn’t feel his tongue move. The bunny’s ears jolt upright again, wide eyes staring at him unblinkingly, tears brimming.  “Really? Because I-I’m of no use to t-them..” “You’ll have to be mine, then.” And that’s how the bunny boy gasps in relief, the heavy words falling on deaf ears as a million watt smile crinkles his eyes. “Yes, yes, yes! Anything.” Taehyung bets that Jungkook doesn’t really know that he literally consented the wolf to breed him and it breaks his heart. “I’ll take you.” Taehyung almost purrs. He'll take him.Again and again and again and again. He doesn’t know how long he can pretend to be human when he’s far from that. His nails tingle, and he needs just a little more of the right kind of the ‘wrong’ stimulation and his claws would come out to play. He presses his tail against his back, ears almost pulling back as if he were hunting.  “Thank you.” There’s devotion bleeding into those two words and Taehyung doesn’t deserve it when he’s a minute away from leaping on to his Match. Jungkook steps forward, maybe trying to initiate some kind of skinship. The wolf’s teeth ache, desperate to bite into such a potential, willing mate who’s a mere foot away from him.  “Don’t come any closer.” Taehyung grits out, closing his eyes so that he doesn’t scare the bunny away from his red irises and canines sharp that are pressing into his lower gums, body tense. He opens his eyes when he hears a sniffle and he feels like shit as he watches the bunny’s ears droop, smile falling away as he steps back, bowing hastily before backing away to sit back in his seat again, with a small, ‘I’m sorry.’ The wolf groans softly, running a hand through his hair and tugging at his ear sharply to get some sense back. “Listen, don’t apologize.” Taehyung doesn’t have to explain because Jungkook is clearly affected by the changes in the wolf, sinking back into his cushions further. “It’s just.. a little hard to control my wolf sometimes. I won’t hurt you if you don’t catch me off guard, that is, no sudden movements please.. That will make me want to—want to h- hunt.” Taehyung whispers the last part, letting his chin drop to his chest in shame. “Please don’t run.” Jungkook just nods with wide eyes, fidgeting with those damn shorts of his again and this time Taehyung shamelessly ogles his thick thighs, licking his lips subconsciously as he imagines biting into the obscenely thick, soft looking muscle and his mouth waters.  Jungkook squirms, then crosses his legs but that only makes his shorts ride higher and Taehyung forces his gaze away. The last thing he wants is to pop a boner and scare the bunny away for good. Their parents choose this moment to come back, Taehyung’s mother holding a red velvet box proudly. Oh.. The collar. They seat themselves and this time the wolf notices his Match’s body language. The boy is looking down, refusing to meet anyone’s eyes, hands folded in his lap and shoulders curled inward, making him look smaller than he already is. Whatever is happening, Taehyung wants to take the boy away, keep him safe with him, locked away in their home. “Taehyung-shi, I hope our son didn’t disappoint you.” Mrs. Jeon come up to stand behind her son, a hand on his shoulder pulling him back harshly until he’s sitting upright, daring to go further and pulling the shaky boy’s droopy ear, making Jungkook jolt before he catches up and looks at Taehyung again. Anger claws at Taehyung like a demon, feeling threatened at how vulnerable the boy looked, his wolf growling and snarling like a rabid animal because how fucking dare these filthy prey treat his soon to be mate like that— He can see the flash of pain in the younger’s eyes, the painful bite of his lip and the beginning of tears. Taehyung wants to rip everyone who’s turning a blind to this mistreatment into pieces. God knows how else the boy was tortured.  “Don’t touch him like that.” Taehyung growls, standing up to snatch the damn collar from his mother’s grip. He opens the box roughly, throwing the lid away when it rips off and pulls out the black metal collar. He stalks towards the pair, eyes narrowing at the woman who still had a grip on her son. She lets go of him quickly and Jungkook looks up at Taehyung, alarmed at the aura emitting from him. Taehyung presses a knee into the cushion, just beside the boy’s thighs. The boy jumps, round eyes making Taehyung’s heart beat faster as he tilts the bunny’s head back gently, running his thumb over the boy’s Adam’s apple, feeling it bob underneath his touch. He unclasps the choker and places it where it no belongs, the sleek, black metal contrasting sinfully against Jungkook’s pale throat. The sound of the collar – their Pack’s collar - clasping and tightening into place makes Taehyung realize that he just marked his Match in one of the many ways he had to. Jungkook’s hand flies to his throat, fingers gliding over the cool metal that’s just tight enough to remind him who he belonged to all the time. A sick satisfaction curls sweetly in Taehyung’s stomach, making it clench pleasantly. When Taehyung sits back, his body is positively tingling, wolf howling proudly at the small marking event.  “Finally!” Their parents rejoice and despite himself, Taehyung grins at the blushing bunny who has a smile of his own, front teeth poking out in a way too cute manner for the wolf to handle. He doesn’t know what he’s getting himself into, protect him – his body and heart. Surprisingly, it’s his wolf that feels protective to point that it’s bound to turn aggressive at any trigger.  Their parents launch into discussions about the mating ceremony and Taehyung zones out, shamelessly staring at Jungkook with his chin propped up on his fist. It will be alright, Taehyung will treat him like his queen, will put the world at his feet, and worship him like a god. “—‘s tomorrow. Jungkook has to spend a few hours in the hospital—“ Taehyung jumps, the words ‘Jungkook’ and ‘hospital’ pulling him out of his day dreaming, now worried at the possibility of something being wrong with his mate. “What? Hospital? Why? He’s perfectly fine.” Taehyung shoots the questions and Mr. Jeon chuckles as his mate starts explaining. “Jungkook has to get his hormonal injections, Taehyung-shi. He needs to get his first heat in a week or ten days to get the results in two weeks, after all.” It feels like someone dropped a million gallons of freezing water on his head and he feels hot and cold at the same time.  “F-First heat? You’re telling me that he didn’t get his first heat yet? That he still didn’t present and you’re already selling him off to me?” Taehyung snarls, claws ripping past his nails and his ears pull back, teeth bared. He had assumed the boy to have been matured by now, since Taehyung himself presented when he was seventeen. But he’s livid now, burning with the need to kill, bloodlust simmering right under his skin. “Do you even know what wolves can do, huh? He’s a bunny for fuck’s sake! Do you want him dead or something? You all are behaving like imbeciles. Just look at him – a child. A small child of seventeen and—and—you’re giving him off for mating? He won’t be able to—“  Taheyung’s father cuts him off with a warning growl but what makes his blood run cold is the bored look in their parents’ eyes as if his outburst had not mattered to any of them, as if they were expecting it and his words are falling on deaf ears for the second time that day. “He already had his second dose yesterday. You can’t do anything now.” The sick glint in his pack alpha’s eyes makes Taehyung’s stomach churn unpleasantly. His shoulders slump, his human and wolf blank with the shock. No wonder Jungkook smelled so much sweeter than last week. “Just shut up and mate him.” “Jungkook-ah,” The lack of honorifics from his mother reminds Taehyung of their status again. And with status comes responsibility. “I’m sorry about my son. He’s like that probably due to the moon. Please do not doubt yourself as his Match. You both have a ninety seven percent of compatibility. Everything will fall into place. Don’t upset yourself, dear.”  “He has to be ready after tomorrow’s appointment, Taehyung-shi. ‘Ready to give him off for mating’ as you put it.” From the way these nut jobs are talking, Taehyung is not so confident that they will take proper care of Jungkook. “I’ll take him.” Taehyung blurts out. All eyes rest heavy on him, waiting, waiting for the words they secretly want to rip out of the wolf, having played with Taheyung’s instincts and morality. “I’ll take him to the appointment tomorrow. You don’t have to come. Any of you.” He grits out, their satisfied smiles don’t make any sense. “Wonderful, son!” His father beams at him, moods switching in an instant and clapping him on the shoulder. “Jungkook can come with us right now. What’s the point of staying here, right? The hospital is closer to our home, anyway.” Everyone agrees with elated looks and words, wide smiles and satisfied eyes. “Jungkook, pack up. Quick. No slacking.” Mr. Jeon barks and the boy shoots up to stand, bowing quickly before hurrying towards a tunnel. When he see Mr. Jeon following him, Taehyung is on his feet, already stopping the man. “I’ll go.. Make sure he’s quick.” He follows the bunny and they go further deeper into the tunnels and reach the nest. The boy’s room is the last one in the hallway and Taehyung has to bite back a sad whimper when they step inside.  The room is spacious and big, painted a soft yellow but there’s barely any furniture except the metal bed, a desk by the window and a wooden wardrobe. A few drawings and pictures are taped to the wall, fairy lights hanging from the low ceiling. The boy looks painfully small, running around his room and packing his bag, throwing in whatever he can find.  “Jungkook-shi, let me do it. Go sit on the bed.” The boy stop in his tracks, looking between the small mountain of folded clothes on his bed and the wolf. “Please.” Taehyung insists and Jungkook slowly sits on the mattress, legs dangling off the side.  Jungkook watches Taehyung get his clothes from the wardrobe and try his best to shove them in the bag neatly. Jungkook giggles at Taehyung’s pathetic attempt, moving to kneel on the bed and shuffle closer to fold his clothes properly. Taehyung watches his mate make more space by what looks like shuffling the clothes around and the bag is magically only half full. “Do you know magic or something? That bag was literally full just a second ago.” And just like that, Taehyung makes fool of himself, face warming at his stupid choice of words but don’t blame him, he was actually impressed. Jungkook laughs, shaking his head quickly in denial. Taehyung doesn't force the bunny to talk, considering the shy blush coloring the boy's face prettily. It's when Taehyung is rolling the bag towards the front, that Jungkook stop him, just shy out of the tunnel with a hesitant tug at the hem of Taehyung's jacket.  "Taehyung-shi.. I can't.. can't thank you enough for what you're doing for me. I--I'm not the best my parents could offer b-because.. I'm the only one left. I'll try my.. best to adjust. So.. So please take care of me." Jungkook bows, ears falling forward, flustered by his incomplete speech and Taehyung is staring again, a sad tug pulling his lips down. He reaches out to pat the silky strands of fluffy raven hair but stops an inch from the base of Jungkook's bunny ears. He hesitates, because he doesn't exactly have the verbal permission to touch the bunny's ears and considering that their ears were sensitive, Taehyung would only end up crossing a line that they're not supposed to.. yet. Instead, he lightly tugs at the boy's bangs, shuffling forward a little and that gets Jungkook to stand straight again. Taehyung is beginning to accept the possibility that his mate's cheeks would probably stay pink for a while and the wolf isn't complaining at all. No, because Jungkook looks adorable like that, like he probably tastes as sweet as he smells, like a ripe fruit that Taehyung just wants to bite into. “I'll be.. human.” Taehyung nods to himself. He has to be, there's no other way to keep the younger boy safe because for the first time, Taehyung wants this boy to stay. To stay and to love and to grow together because.. Jungkook is just seventeen and Taehyung can't wait to take care of him, to help him grow into a healthy, beautiful adult, without any pain and suffering. And while he still can, he wants Jungkook to enjoy his youth, his freedom that Taehyung is ready to offer him. “Human is what you deserve, baby.” The shy pink stays on the bunny's cheeks for a long time, only growing in intensity whenever their eyes meet and that happens a lot because Taehyung can't stop staring and he won’t. Taehyung feels like he can finally breathe, having reached a conclusion within himself, peace made with his wolf. He hopes – prays – that as long as he doesn't touch the boy, the bunny will be safe. He understands how difficult this is going to be when they're back on their way with Jungkook sitting beside him, though on the other side of the expanse of the leather seat, face almost pressed to the window. When Taehyung suddenly smiles, only Jungkook notices the red irises and the sharp teeth peeking through his lips. So Taehyung can't be blamed when thinks that everything was under control, with no clue as to how feral he looked when the bunny smiles in return, so sweetly. Taehyung's wolf had always been a sneaky bastard, coming out to play when least expected.   Chapter End Notes Wattpad: kookismiine ***** Chapter 2 ***** Chapter Notes I feel ashamed that I write this horribly. It feels so.. empty. Sorry, guys. AND YOU GUYS ARE SUCH SWEETHEARTS, LIKING THIS TRASH AND GIVING ME LOVE. TT I want to bang my head against my table right now.. Also, a few things came up so I might update mid-March or something. Y'all give me life. THANK YOU SO MUCHHHH (;W;) See the end of the chapter for more notes   Everyone has a different coping mechanism, a different self-help technique, a different way to face the darkness because sadly, at the end of the day, you are all alone and helpless, unable to run away from yourself. You either accept your nightmares or pretend that you don’t even have them in the first place. If you shove your pain under your skin instead of brushing it off, it will only seep into your veins and grow a million tiny saplings in your heart. If only pretending wasn't so painful. Taehyung’s wolf is smarter than he is sometimes, it’s an animal that completely works on instincts and needs, making the world simpler, basic. Want it? Take it. Consume it. But Taehyung is also human – a morally rich being that refuses to give in to its wild desires. And being a hybrid, Taehyung has a choice to make. Human or animal? After all, no one would look at him for a second longer even if he went beastly. Taehyung is afraid that the hunger in his blood will get to him. To overcome the trauma, Taehyung needs an abundance of comfort. His wolf senses this and provided him with whatever it could, which turns out to be snatching the reigns for itself. And just like that, slowly but surely, Taehyung’s senses numb and his grasp on control slips like sand from between his fingers. Taehyung’s nodding off when his chin slips off his palm and he jolts, catching himself at the right time before he face plants himself on to his work desk. Good thing he’s in the privacy of his office though, and his employees didn't see this embarrassing little accident. He rubs a hand over his face roughly, trying to force the sleep away but his eyelids feel so heavy that he’s ready to sleep on the damn carpet if he can.. The wolf couldn't get a wink last night, having the bunny room with him despite them having two empty spare rooms. His parents reasoned that since there were no beds in the guest rooms, the soon to be mated couple were to share a room because, ‘There’s no way in hell that Jungkook-ah will sleep on the couch. You have a bed enough to fit three damn people Taehyung!’ His father had roared and Taehyung had just pressed his lips into a thin line, eyes tight and promptly rolled the boy’s bag into his room with Jungkook following behind hesitantly. It’s all so stupid, while being forbidden to date or experiment all his youth but when his Match comes home, everyone wants them to fuck. Still, Taehyung’s heart had wept in joy after seeing the bunny move around his room in amazement, ears straight and alert, twitching with every sound made in the room. He was fascinated with everything in the wolf’s room, round eyes stuck on the objects of his interest until Taehyung handed the said items to him. The wolf pretended to be normal and nonchalant about the whole thing but shit hit the fan when the bunny stopped hopping around and sat on the edge of the bed, occupying a very small area. Taehyung won’t lie, but he felt sad in that moment, looking at the boy drowning in his blue silk pajama set, so uncertain and uncomfortable in this new home, around a stranger – a predator at that. How unfortunate that carriers abandon their children, without a concern. He always had a soft spot for small, cute things so without a second thought, he got off the bed, clutching at his pillow and a blanket to unceremoniously fall onto the couch. Jungkook had protested, face flushed claiming that he was smaller and that it would be comfortable for him even if he slept on the couch. Taehyung ignored those pleadings, turning his back towards the bunny and wishing him a goodnight. ‘Let us b-both.. sleep on the bed’ Jungkook had whispered and Taehyung didn’t move for some time, before slowly twisting around to face the bunny who was clearly avoiding his eyes. Now, Taehyung is not one of those people who practice impressive self-control. No, he always got what he wanted and it only takes a few seconds for his patience to snap. “Are you not afraid of me?” Taehyung sits up, genuinely interested in the boy’s answer, wondering what the hell was actually going through the younger’s head that he offered such a.. dangerous thing. The answer he got was not something that he liked. “No. I.. I was prepared to.. I was told that—“ He takes in a deep breath, fisting the silk of his shirt between long, thin fingers, another hand tugging at his bangs – must be a nervous habit of his - and Taehyung nods encouragingly, literally on the edge of his seat. He really wanted to know about all the shit that the boy was told. His eyes are glued to the boy’s hands. They’re pretty, soft and smooth looking and Taehyung wants to touch them once, hold them forever. “I was told that.. I should p-please you when we start living together.” Taehyung’s stare is blank when he looks up trying to keep the incredulity out of his features, vacant eyes holding onto the boy’s endless ones. Maybe everyone wanted him to lose control, considering that he was getting ticked off since this morning and his parents know that he has almost none and here he was, trying not to eat the boy alive. He’s fucking pissed. “So they told you that I’m going to fuck you when I take you home?” Taehyung flicks his tongue against the roof of his mouth, teeth clenched and he notices Jungkook flinch at his choice of words but the wolf feels.. wild right now, and he doesn't realize that he was taking out his frustration on the younger. He’s been bottling up his anger and frustrations since the past week and it all comes out now. Taehyung stands up slowly, imposingly taller than the other boy. “Are you ready to get fucked then? Is that why you offered the bed? I didn’t know that you wanted to be taken that badly.” The wolf’s lip curls over his teeth and right now he knows he looks like Jungkook’s worst nightmare and he is. The younger’s face pales, bottom lip trembling as he takes a step back but Taehyung is having none of it so he wraps a hand around the boy’s thin waist and roughly pulls him close until they’re glued together, not space between them. His wolf is giddy, licking its teeth in satisfaction because they’re just so close and Taehyung had never touched anyone like this before. “Do you have any idea how much I hate myself for wanting to do those things to you? We’re not the same, bunny. I’m a wolf and you’re a bunny, just so..” So destructible. “Tell me, Jungkook-shi..” Taehyung sees Jungkook’s ears droop, landing on his shoulders with no sound at all and his words change when their eyes meet. “You’re so eager, aren't you? And that fucking maddening scent of yours..” He brings a hand up to run his thumb over Jungkook’s metal collar. “I don’t know what you think of me but I’m far from good, far from whatever fantasies you've had of me.” Taehyung closes his fingers gently around Jungkook’s throat and the boy jumps. “I promised that I’d be human but if you go on behaving like this and saying things like this then..” Taehyung jerks his chin to the side, letting out a humorless chuckle. “Don’t touch me, don’t offer yourself to me, don’t look at me like you want me to eat you up, just don’t—“ because I’ll ruin you. Jungkook interrupts Taehyung, eyes glossy and when he grip Taehyung’s shirt, twisting it between his fist, the wolf’s knees go weak. “You’re.. b-being bad.” “I am.” Jungkook sucks n a breath after that. “Taehyung-shi.. I’m-I’m doing this because you’re good to me and I.. I wanted to be good too. You’re the f-first person ever to show me this much kindness a- and.. and I don’t know how to t-thank you b-but you—“ Taehyung’s heart pathetically bleeds near his feet when he sees fat tears rolling down soft cheeks and there’s panic slowly bubbling in the wolf’s chest. “Y-You.. Why are you being mean t-to me now? What do I do to d-deserve kindness? I’ll do whatever you want.. You can, you c-can.. please—“ The bunny bites his lip and shoves his face into Taehyung’s chest, bawling loudly. “Please don’t hurt me m-more. I can’t—I can’t take it..” The boy hiccups and the wolf’s feels the ground sway under his feet. “It’s scary..” Taehyung would remember this moment years later, regretting over one of his huge mistakes. He steps back and Jungkook turns hurt, confused eyes to meet Taehyung’s and he’s suddenly unable to swallow, throat throbbing with words that he wants to say but he doesn't because he’s not the bunny’s hero and he’ll never be. “I’m sorry.. I.. I can’t-can’t be human. I take my words back.. I lied, I.. I can’t be good to you. I can never treat you good, I can’t be a good mate, I—“ Taehyung keeps stepping back and Jungkook seems to be getting smaller and smaller, the hope in his eyes dimming as the seconds pass. They're practically strangers and even if Taehyung might feel something for the younger, as the bunny grows older he would realize how he was treated so unfairly and will hate Taehyung forever. “I can never love you.” Taehyung huffs out a laugh, hysteria setting in. He’s completely trapped, nowhere to escape. “I don’t think you fucking understand.. We’re going to get married because my parents bought you for millions.. for me. I behaved well because you're innocent. And I’m supposed to mate you, fuck you and breed you and you’ll give me pups again and again. That’s it. There’s no fucking time for love and all that fairy bullshit. You'll.. You'll hate me, Jungkook.” Jungkook’s face is as pale as a ghost. “You won’t l-love me?” And Taehyung doesn’t know whether to scream or cry when Jungkook pulls at his lower lip until it’s trapped under his bunny teeth and Taehyung can see the tiny exposed mole. He stays silent, watching emotions flash across the younger’s face. No, I already do. Taehyung can’t get attached, he doesn't even know if they will work out in the end and they’ll be ripped apart if the results aren't positive. What to do? Protect himself or protect the helpless? He closes his eyes, bringing a hand up to rub at his throbbing forehead and he thinks. When he opens his eyes a few seconds later, the bunny steps back because of the red eyes and Taehyung should have known something was wrong with himself from that reaction but he’s under a warm haze, senses heightened and there’s just so much sweetness in the air, he wants to stick his tongue out. Jungkook’s lips quiver and tears pool in his fascinatingly big eyes and Taehyung feels hungry. His head feels messed up as he walks up to the younger again who seems to have started crying all over again. “Bunny wants my love?” Taehyung didn’t know how sharp his teeth really became, his sole focus being the bunny. He reaches up to wipe the tears falling down his lashes and the skin is so smooth, Taehyung wonders if all of Jungkook is as soft and smooth. Jungkook nods. “I w-want i-it.” Oh, you already have it, Baby. “I won’t talk this rudely ever again.. I’m sorry, baby.” Lies, lies, lies. Jungkook only seems to cry harder, as if he knew, locking his arms around the wolf’s middle and Taehyung’s mind runs a millions miles per second to come up with something that will soothe the bunny. A part of him dances around in sick satisfaction that Jungkook craves for his attention. “Baby, look at me. I’m sorry.” After another hiccup, the boy finally comes out of the safety of the wolf’s chest, looking at Taehyung with a wet, pink face, something that Taehyung should never want to see again but tries to ignore the fact that he would see this exact expression on the boy many more times.. maybe when he’s fucking him into the mattress. He wipes the tear tracks off the younger’s cheeks again, rubbing circles into the skin, marveling at the softness. “It’s-It’s okay..” Taehyung doesn't deserve to be forgiven this quickly.  “What are you doing to me..” The wolf mumbles to himself instead, feeling sadness and pain creep into him slowly. He regrets what all he said, and he just knows that it will happen again. “Tomorrow, after your appointment, let’s go to a café. I know a good one that you’ll really like and we can talk.” Jungkook wipes a few stray tears away, lips twitching as he tries very hard not to smile. “We’ll uhh.. We’ll go shopping as well, if you want..” Jungkook’s ears shoot up and Taehyung is fragile, when he’s the focus of glittery brown eyes. . . . They did end up on the bed but Taehyung couldn't sleep, didn't allow himself to because knowing himself, he’d probably bite the bunny in his sleep and mark him, too soon. They talk, Jungkook speaking softly about his favorite hyung who got mated four years ago and how he never met him again. “I miss him.. He was a really kind hyung and he taught me a lot of things. He was going to tell me about mating too but then his Match showed up the next day.” Jungkook’s eyes are glossy, distant. “Who was he matched to?” Taehyung is on the couch, resting his chin on his knees, looking at the bunny resting on the bed. On his bed. “A lion.. Ah, that hyung was scary. A little.. not so much but he was so big and strong and handsome.” Jungkook pouts and Taehyung sits straighter because was his mate fawning over someone else right in front of him? Jealousy spikes through Taehyung in strong jabs and he leans forward to rest his elbows on his legs. “Handsome, huh?” Jungkook hums absent mindedly, now staring back at Taehyung with unfathomable eyes. “But you’re not.. you’re not scary, Taehyung-shi.” Jungkook curls into a what looks like a happy ball, a lazy smile on his lips and pink, swollen eyes crinkling shut, and those bunny teeth are the final blow and Taehyung would have dropped to the floor if he wasn’t sitting. “I’m not?” The wolf doesn’t feel his lips move but he hears his own voice ring in the room. “No.. not really. You do scare me but.. it’s a different fear.” Pink scatters over soft cheekbones and Taehyung feels so lucky to have this beauty as his mate and he’ll do anything to keep him to himself. “Different how?” “You look like, like you w-want to.. eat me—“ “I do.” Jungkook innocently squeezes his hands between his thighs and Taehyung’s gaze is drawn by the movement. “You have no idea.” “When.. will you, Taehyung-shi?” Soon. “Ah, please drop the honorifics. I don’t mind. Call me whatever you want – Taehyung, Tae, whatever.” Jungkook squirms a bit more, pressing his cheek into the pillow before looking at Taehyung again. “Can I.. Can I call you ‘hyung’?” Taehyung’s cheeks burn because that sounded like they were really close but he couldn't say no to the bunny boy. “I mean.. I’ll call you hyung only.. sometimes.” “Whatever you want.” Jungkook’s happy smile is something that Taehyung might not see anytime soon. The younger falls asleep quickly after that and Taehyung is tempted to mount him so he sits on the carpet, facing his floor to ceiling window, watching the darkness slowly bid its goodbye, and letting the light spread itself slowly but surely. He leaves before Jungkook wakes up, controlling himself before does something to the younger boy that he might later regret. And currently, he’s pulled out of his misery when his phone blares loudly and he glances at the ID before swiping his thumb on the screen to answer. “Hyung.” Taehyung groans into the phone, pushing himself away from his desk and spins on his cushioned chair, eyes staring at the ceiling. “What ‘hyung’? You shouldn’t be complaining, you’re at your office, completely ignoring your responsibilities.” Namjoon’s deep voice seeps into his ear and the wolf just sighs, grimacing. It was too early for an admonition. “What responsibilities? I’m so tired already, hyung. I couldn't fucking sleep. It’s like I can’t even stand him but at the same time I want to eat him up so bad. I don’t think I can do this.. fuck my life.” Taehyung grits his teeth and he’s lost count of how many times he was irritated in the past few days. “Oh.. Is that why you didn’t come to the appointment? Ah, Taehyung, really? Jin hyung would be so mad to know that you’re treating someone of his kind like this.” The lion starts his rant and Taehyung frown, lips parted as he waits for a pause in the older’s speech to cut in, though it never comes. “I told you how emotionally unstable and vulnerable carriers feel when they’re going through the procedures. And how much of an ass can you really be that you leave your soon to be mate all alone, huh? Jin hyung and I raised you better than this…“ Taehyung tunes out everything out because for once, Namjoon was speaking with too much concern and seriousness as if Taehyung had actually done something wrong and he’s not going to take this verbal beating without any reason. “What the hell? Hyung, why are you going off at me like this? I’m not doing anything! I’m just at work—Why did you even call me?” Taehyung huffs, ticked off for being at the receiving end of things for so long. “Yah, this kid..” Namjoon growls and it’s so out of character that Taehyung is a little worried right now. And wait, what appointment? He still had two hours to go before he had to pick up Jungkook. “No. Hyung, listen. Is everything alright with you? What are you talking about? The only appointment that I’m concerned about is two hours from now and I have to pick up Baby from home in like, an hour—“ “Are you telling me that you didn’t know that your ‘Baby’ has been in the hospital since three hours already? Your mother told me when I called her earlier. Jin hyung and I wanted to visit you two.” The lion now sounds confused, uncertain. Taehyung stays quiet for a moment, running the words over and over again in his head. “Hyung, this is not funny. Are you fucking with me or something because this isn’t—“ “Goddamn it, Taehyung. If I’m not wrong, your mate is getting fucking drugged while you’re screaming at me so shut the fuck up and go. God knows that it shouldn’t take this long.” Taehyung cuts the call, dashing out of the room and he loses track of time, he doesn’t remember getting into the parking lot, or getting into his car, doesn’t bother that he violated at least ten different traffic rules but he doesn’t fucking care because the only thing that he’s thinking is that what if Namjoon hadn’t called? He would have been completely unaware, and completely helpless. The interior of the car reeks, his fear permeating through the suffocating air and the wolf has never felt panic this strong, ever. As he stumbles into the hospital and rattles off Jungkook’s name to the receptionist, he can smell fear in the whole building as if there were too many carriers suffering right now and it makes him sick to the stomach. It’s as if they’re all calling out to him, to help them escape from this hell. Taehyung takes the stairs when the elevator takes too long. 603.. 604.. 605. It is one of those rooms which scream ‘This person is real valuable and we’ll fuck you and your damn hospital if anything goes wrong.’ When he shoves the door open, he’s surprised that it didn’t come off its hinges. The scene is as heartbreaking as it should be. His eyes land on the bed first where Jungkook’s frail frame rests, eyes closed with an IV dripping beside him. There are covers pulled up to his chest and the point where the needle sinks into the skin of his arm is reddening. He walks inside, past the elders who are sitting to his right on a few expensive couches, having refreshments and moves towards the younger boy. He frowns when he sees faint red marks on his arms and he hitches the sleeve of Jungkook’s hospital gown up and to his horror, there is a bruise forming there. “Why did you bring him here? I told you that I’d take him by myself.” The wolf is getting tired of this honestly, the constant fighting, the iciness between them and the secrets. “The sooner the better, Taehyung. It’s already over.” Again, the lack of permission and the forcing mates him wants to go mad. He hates being kept in the dark and by now, Taehyung is beginning to question their safety. “Also, why do you care that much? It’s standard procedure.” Now, everyone has a breaking point and Taehyung turns out to be ready to snap. If only he could kill. “Every carrier has to go through that, don’t make a big deal out of it. I know both you are growing close, the boy didn’t want to come here without you.. Good, good—“ “Leave. Just fucking leave. Right now.” The wolf snarls, eyes flashing red and claws itching to sink into the flesh of those who went against his wishes. His parents have the audacity to look sheepish and it must not be healthy for him to be this livid. “I swear I’m going to kill every single one of you—“ “How dare you, Taehyung—“ The stupid Alpha who he calls a father interrupts him and oh, the fucking nerve. What did these people think of themselves? Fucking up his life for their fun. “Shut the fuck up! Just get out. Don’t ever touch him again, he’s mine and if I ever see any one of you around him.. I’ll bury you alive.” Taehyung’s panting, barely concealing his rage but even as he wants to destroy everything in this room and set the building on fire.. Jungkook is still here. “We had to do this because you were not even interested in your Match. We had to make this work, Taheyung-shi. We apologize that our son couldn’t meet your standards..” The wolf doesn’t care who spoke that, it’s all white noise for a while. He sees stiff faces, moving lips and cold, emotionless eyes as he wonders when the world has become so indifferent that they’re willing to be inconsiderate to their own children. Since when have children become toys that could be displayed, poked and prodded for fun and money? Taehyung knows what they want to hear. He doesn’t want to say it and wasn’t planning on saying those words but then he catches a glimpse of Jungkook, sleeping peacefully while being flooded with those filthy drugs into his system as he lays there innocently, with no idea as to how these drugs would change his body. Or maybe he did and still went with it because he knows that he can’t get out of this until and unless he died. “I swear on the Moon to mate him when his heat starts. I’ll mail you the p- positive results in two weeks after the.. the.. the m-mating. So please..” Taehyung bows, for the sake of the unconscious boy, throwing his pride aside. “Please let us be.” Taehyung was expecting humiliation to flood him whole but what he feels instead is prickling cold seeping in from his head to his toes. “As you wish.” Taehyung straightens when their parents leave and he’s disgusted with himself for promising something so important without Jungkook’s consent. The wolf waits for an hour, mind fuzzy as he waits for the bunny to wake up and more times than he can count, he had reached for the IV to rip it off but stopped just the last second because he doesn’t really know the repercussions of incomplete drug dosages. When Jungkook wakes up, he blinks slowly and when he looks at Taehyung, his eyes crinkle, pupils blown alarmingly wide - like daisies - and bunny teeth poking out when he smiles. It takes fifteen minutes for the younger to function normally again. The wolf swallows against his cotton like throat, helping Jungkook to sit up. He stokes the soft cheek of the younger boy, lungs filling up with his heightened, sweeter scent.   “Were you scared?” A nod, smile turning watery. “Did you think of me? Did you think of calling out for me?” Taehyung doesn’t expect an answer to his stupid question. “I did. You didn’t come.” I cried, I screamed, you didn’t come. You left me.Somehow, Taehyung knows what Jungkook means to say. “Didn’t know what they were doing.. The doctor said that since my dosage was increased, my heat will start in a week at most.” “A w-week?” Taehyung asks in a wobbly voice, hoping that he heard it wrong. “A week.” “Forgive me.” That seems to be the only thing that Taehyung could spit out these days. . . . “We’ll move in tonight.” Taehyung keeps his eyes on the road, his words filling the silence softly, reassuringly. That act itself would seal the deal but since they’re running away from everyone else, Taehyung supposes that they have no other choice. He’s scared that a time will come when they can’t run away from anyone, or even each other. “We are? Where will we go?” Jungkook shouldn’t sound this excited.   “Yeah.. We have a pent house suite to ourselves. And we can move into a house of your choice when we.. when you after we m-mate—“ How should he say this? Taehyung runs a hand through his hair, words failing him. “After I give you pups?” The wolf is sure that Jungkook didn’t mean anything at all by his words, didn’t think of the ways that Taehyung could interpret them in a million poisonous jabs to his heart. ‘Give you’, huh? Taehyung swallows, heart drumming in his chest and when he glances at Jungkook, the boy turns to look at him too. You don’t know what you’re offering to give me, Jungkook. Taehyung is sure that the bunny doesn’t know what he’s implying when he still has that smile of his, pupil taking up most of his iris. For a flashing second, the boy looks scary, abnormal and a streak of fear slashes through Taehyung. He looks like a ghost – empty and vacant. Would the boy become lifeless as the days pass, as Taehyung takes his innocence away and rips his angelic wings away to push him into the pits of hell? Would he.. would he become an empty shell that just can’t be filled again? Too cracked to hold anything inside. “Baby.” Taehyung sucks in a pained breath through his teeth, breathing fast. “Can I.. Can I call you Baby?” “Yes.” A small, three letter word but Taehyung shivers, wants to keep hearing it again and again because he’s never felt this high on getting consent. Jungkook wants this too, he likes it. “Do you know what it means? What you said earlier, about.. pups.” Taehyung’s face is uncomfortably warm, even with the A/C blasting in the car. “You will.. help me with my heat and only then I can give you pups?” It comes out as a weak question. “That’s it? You don’t know more?” Taehyung wants to hear a ‘yes’ again. Wants the bunny boy to laugh and say that he was kidding, that he does know what all he has to go through. But— Oh, he remember the talk last night and how his hyung couldn’t tell him anything. “No.. sorry.” The wolf sees the bunny’s ears droop from his peripheral and it feels like someone kicked him in the stomach. “No, no! Don’t apologize… It’s alright. I’ll tell you, or..” Seokjin hyung. “Do you know about mating? The physical act, I mean… the sex.” “No.” “What?!” Taehyung squeaks like a squirrel, ego thrown out of the window because things were just getting worse. This won’t do at all. “Hyung was going to tell me! But he left..” The sad lilt to his voice makes Taehyung gloomy too. “Baby, can you call Namjoon hyung from my phone? Please it on speaker.” In a minute, the ringing fills the air, as Jungkook holds out the phone towards the center with both hands, closer to Taehyung. The wolf smiles at the unintentionally cute act, reaches out to poke Jungkook’s cheek and when the younger looks up at Taehyung, he doesn’t know how he managed to not crash the car. . . . Taehyung has known Namjoon since they were both seven and nine years old respectively. They had been family friends, meeting every few months or so and even if he doesn’t like to admit, Namjoon helped Taehyung overcome his teenage angst and shot down his rebellious streaks – well, he tried. The wolf now admires the older as a dorky, precious but clumsy hyung. It didn’t matter that Namjoon was a lion, no. Didn’t matter that their base animals were not exactly supposed to be best friends because Namjoon was more of a family to Taehyung than his own. When he mated Seokjin, Taehyung didn’t talk to him for a year. He was being childish, being only eighteen years old, he was livid that the hyung he admired so much had taken part in the Matching and also mated. He refused to meet him or his mate, didn’t show up for gatherings, didn’t pick up his calls or respond his texts. Then one day, Namjoon showed up at his doorstep with his three, tiny cubs and Taehyung burst into tears at the implications – no, he didn’t think that the cubs were the most adorable things he had ever seen till date. Not at all. Seokjin was – still is – the epitome of beauty, the wolf admits. He couldn’t believe that the cubs were here because of him because he just didn’t look like a bunny who just gave birth to lion cubs. That gave Taheyung a little hope – maybe his own mate would be healthy too, would survive. But now as he stares at Jungkook who’s curiously looking at the menu placed before him, glossy, bunny ears flicking once in a while, Taehyung understands how cruelly fate can work. Seokjin is taller, stronger and has a broader, literally life-saving frame. He had good body proportions to help him go through all the mess without any complications and just a year after their first born cubs, they had two more. The café is relatively calm right now, the odd hour giving them some peace. There’s so much that the pair should talk about, considering that Jungkook’s heat can hit him in a week but how was Taehyung supposed to tell the younger that he would literally have to mount him and breed him? He needs Seokjin to talk to Jungkook and maybe tell him what to expect without all the gory details and maybe give the bunny tips so that he would come out alive. Taehyung lets out a pained sigh, that is too loud between them and lets his head fall on his folded arms atop the table. “Taehyung-shi?” Jungkook sounds worried, and the wolf can hear his mate shuffling in his seat. “Are you okay?” Taehyung lets his ears stick to his head in distress. He wants to cry at the helplessness of their situation, how stupid this arrangement is and he wants to bail so badly, but he gave his word. He blindly reaches forward, stretches his palm out, fingers spread as an invite. Please take it. Hold me, hold me, please. Nothing happens for a few moments and Taehyung starts pulling his hand back, lifting his head up to see if Jungkook was even there or if he left the wolf like he should. Turns out, the bunny is staring at his hand with wide eyes, bottom lip caught between his teeth. His hand shoots out to grab Taehyung’s just as he’s withdrawing it and when Jungkook’s face turns pink after feeling the wolf’s stare, he starts pulling free so Taehyung tightens his hold, interlocking their fingers in a grip so tight, his knuckles turn white. “I told you to drop the honorifics..” He huffs, pulling Jungkook’s hand closer because if he’s not wrong, the bunny’s wrists are emitting a sickeningly sweet scent and when Taehyung presses his nose against the younger’s pulse point, he almost moans out, closing his eyes in bliss. Those stupid, stupid drugs. “A-Alpha..” Taehyung has his tongue pressed against the sweet point and his eyes snap open when he hears that broken word and Taehyung flinches, but still unable to rip his lips away from the soft skin. Maybe he should just bite for once and for all – his teeth will stop aching and he’d have the satisfaction of marking Jungkook as his own. But they can’t, the rules are strict. Biting is forbidden. “Who.. Who told you that word?” Jungkook seems surprised himself, as if his mouth moved against his will. “I.. I know what you are. Sorry, I didn’t mean to say it out loud..” Jungkook’s fingers flex in his hold and Taehyung almost lets go. He wants to let go of his humanity, this push and pull, the uncertainty, the need to control himself but he’s scared. Terrified of what he’d do if he sets his wolf free. “You scare me, Baby.” “Why?” Jungkook asks as if he wanted to add, ‘Me? How can you be scared of me?’ “Because you make me want to do things to you that I can’t imagine myself doing.” Jungkook’s lips part, tongue poking out to lick his lower lip. He shifts closer, pupils taking up most of the beauty of his dark brown eyes and the world around Taehyung fades out. There’s only Jungkook, the center of his universe, the reason for his existence. “Do you want to kill me?” And Taehyung is thrown off his axis, spinning and tumbling in the dark, vast space without a direction until he’s suddenly blinded, pulled in and devoured by the sun. It hurts, burns his skin and chars his bones. “I’d die before I let that happen.” Another flashing smile, bunny teeth, scrunched nose and disappearing eyes. Shoulders pulled up in delight before the drop down. Taehyung should have known that he was a goner since the moment he laid his eyes in the bunny. “Then don’t be scared.” No, Jungkook doesn’t understand. Taehyung doesn’t want to kill him but that doesn’t mean he won’t. He still can and probably will. “B-But.. But I can still ruin you, destroy you, and suck the life out of you. Please understand—“ Taehyung can’t breathe, not even when he moves closer until his ribs dig into the table’s edge painfully, even when he cups Jungkook’s face, running his thumb over a small scar on his cheekbone, and Taehyung chokes when they’re ripped apart suddenly and a threatening snarl rips out of his throat, teeth bared at the one who dared to separate them and he’s meeting Seokjin’s red eyes. “Kim Taehyung.” The older breathes, “What the hell are you doing with my baby brother? Tell me this is some fucked up prank of yours.” As Taehyung is stunned into silence, Jungkook gasps, shouting out. “Jin hyung!” Namjoon looks at Taehyung as if he wants to scream, ‘What have you done, Taehyung?’ And Taehyung has never felt so lonely, so cornered and hopeless as he did now. . . . “Move, you pup. I’m this close to strangling you.” “NO!” Seokjin stared at the stubborn wolf for a second before moving to drop himself on Taehyung’s lap. Taehyung gasps, scandalized that his hyung was sitting on him right in front of his mate. A look at Namjoon seated opposite to them tells Taehyung that he could be in trouble. “Hyung.. Taehyung-shi is a.. wolf, so..” Jungkook mumbles, wide eyes glaring disapprovingly at their seating style. “Yah, you make my baby brother use honorifics?!” Taehyung is too busy rejoicing at Jungkook’s uncomfortable demeanor at their proximity. Maybe he cares.. “Taehyungie, why don’t you come sit by hyung, hmm? I missed you.” When Namjoon crosses his arms, appearing to be friendly, the veins in his arms bulge out and Taehyung lets himself be pushed off from his seat. He slumps in beside Namjoon, defeated by his hyungs. Now with the drama aside, the older bunny has quietened, studying his younger brother. “My baby Jungkookie..” Seokjin had a soft smile on his face, hand ruffling the younger’s hair softly, sliding back to smooth Jungkook’s bunny ears against his head and Jungkook curves his head into the embrace, face peaceful. “Yah.. He’s my baby now, hyung.” Taeunhyung grumbles, lips pulling into a pout unwillingly. Namjoon sniggers, smacking down a hand on the wolf’s shoulder with a little too much force. Taehyung is so used to this, he doesn’t even flinch anymore. Jungkook opens his eyes, giving Jungkook a bunny smile. Then his eyes flick to Namjoon and his eyes widen, mouth opening in surprise. “Oh, you’re the hyung! Taehyung, this is the big hyung I was talking about.” When the bunny takes in their body language, he makes a soft, confuse ‘Ah.’ “Do you already.. know each other?” Namjoon displays his dimples and Taehyung watches on incredulously as the bunny’s eyes turn sparkly, a dazed look. What the hell? His wolf growls, unimpressed and a little angry. “Nice to finally meet you, Jungkook-ah. Yes, Taehyungie is my childhood friend. Jin hyung doesn’t stop talking about you. You’re even famous among our cubs.” “Hyung, you have cubs? Where are they?” Jungkook gasps, looking around excitedly and Seokjin smiles, pulling out his phone from him jeans. “Here,” He fingers slide over the screen and in a second, he turns the phone to face Jungkook. “Don’t be fooled, Jk.. They look cute but they’re a menace.” Seokjin throws a glance at Namjoon and the lion sinks down his seat, ears flicking self-consciously. Seokjin continues to point out each cub by their names and Jungkook’s gaze never once wanders away from the screen. Jungkook wordlessly hands the phone over to Taehyung when the older bunny is done with his speaking and the wolf smiles at the picture. The triplets have become older now and they have the twins squished between them. “Taehyung.” He looks up at the bunny who looks like he’s about to squeal, fists curled under his chin, eyes round and pleading. He scoots closer to the table and suddenly lets his bunny ears drop to the either side of his head and Taehyung’s jaw drop open at the sudden display of.. whatever Jungkook is doing. The wolf is not sure what to feel but all he wants to do is give the bunny whatever his pretty lips utter. “I want them.” Taehyung breathes out a sigh in relief, chucking at the determination shining in the younger’s eyes. “Of course. They’re just so adorable.” His boxy smile comes out to play and he turns to Namjoon who was studying the youngest with sharp eyes, frame tense as if waiting for something. “Hyung,” Namjoon meets his gaze and quickly shuffles, sitting straighter. “When can we come to see them?” Namjoon opens his mouth to speak but Jungkook cuts in on time. “No. Taehyung, I want pups of my own.” The wolf’s face slowly drains of its color as he turns to look at Seokjin’s unreadable expression from Namjoon’s shocked one. “Tae.. hyung, please.” The wolf sucks in a harsh breath, forcing air into his screaming lungs. Those words are a strong catalyst for Taehyung’s mind and he’s lost hold of his thoughts so they run wild and unrestrained, filling him up with images upon images of Jungkook, Jungkook, Jungkook. In the background, he can hear his mate talking to his brother but the concern seeping into Seokjin’s tone snaps him out of his haze. “Jungkookie.. Look at me?” Seokjin is frowning as he leans forward, frowning at the younger. He runs a thumb under Jungkook’s eyes and makes a confused noise. “Please close your eyes.” Jungkook follows and opens them when Seokjin tells him to do so. There’s a spike in Seokjin’s scent that makes Namjoon’s chest rumble. It’s a bitter tang in his scent that slowly increases as Seokjin sniffs the younger’s wrists and pulls at his arms until they IV puncture is visible. “What.. What is this?” His sharp eyes turn to Taehyung, anger burning in them like a wild fire. “Why are there needle marks?” Taehyung belatedly realized that Namjoon probably didn’t tell his mate about this and he has no reason to, considering he didn’t know who Jungkook was earlier to this meet up. “He had his last appointment today.” Taehyung speaks quietly, staring at the wood of the table. “You’ve got to be fucking kidding me!” Seokjin explodes after a minute of silence, slamming his hand on the table. Taehyung doesn’t flinch but Jungkook does and Taehyung’s immediately glances at his direction. “He’s seventeen, Taehyung. Just look at him! He’s so small. What the hell did you think you were doing?” Same words, only this time, someone else was screaming them at him. Taehyung should have known, Seokjin always loved his younger brother ‘Kookie’, always talking about the younger with a fond smile, eyes full of love. He should have known that he would come in their way. And he understands his concern for the younger but he himself is worried too. It’s just that he doesn’t have a choice. “Taehyung you know very well how wolf cross-breeding is going, why are you doing this?” Seokjin’s voice turns desperate but the wolf refuses to look up and let them know how much this pained him. If they were going to call him a monster, he might as well become one. This time, words feel so much harsher than all the treatments he had gone through before meeting his match. No amount of preparation would leave him unharmed from the older’s words. “He won’t survive, please let him go.” “Please, Taehyung.. It’s too soon. He doesn’t know anything. Please—“ “You’ll be an animal once your rut hits, please, please.. leave him alone.” “Stop it.” Taehyung whimpers, head hanging low and eyes clenched shut. He can take self-loathing but if someone else voices the truth like that then he can’t bear it. “You’ll kill him—“ “Hyung, stop it!” “Seokjin, stop.” Jungkook and Namjoon launch into Taehyung’s rescue, even if they’re a little late. Because now, Taehyung is convinced that his wolf, or at least him pups will kill his mate. He doesn’t know what is happening until someone is pushing at his shoulder and all the insecurity and fear bursts out of him at once and he snarls at whoever touched him in his weak state and his fingers find purchase on a soft neck and he opens his eyes the same instant he feels the cool metal of the collar. Jungkook’s hand flies up to grab his wrist and Taehyung loosens his grip instantly, dread sitting heavily in his stomach when it sinks that he literally attached his mate in his rage. Taehyung scrambles backwards, putting as much of distance between them as he can. “Go a-away..” The alpha’s voice shakes and he can’t even bring himself to care as he looks away from the bunny, face turned to the other. Then, without warning, he has a lapful of said bunny. “It’s ok.. It’s just me.” Soft hands frame his face and he can’t believe himself when he leans into the comforting touch. Even as Jungkook provides him a safe haven, he's devastated to know that his wolf still howls with hunger whenever the bunny is in close proximity.  “Hyung is right.. But I can’t—I have to.. I promised on the Moon. They made me do it.. Wouldn’t leave us—“ He doesn’t really know who he’s talking to at this point. “Oh..” Seokjin sounds heartbroken, having an idea about the value the promise holds. Namjoon sighs, the soft breath sounding as if it weighted a ton. “It’s alright, Alpha. I want it, I promise. I.. I really do.” As Taehyung breaks down into Jungkook’s neck, he notes that it’s his first time crying in front of company. And how can he not, when all Jungkook says only makes him more of a monster for wanting it all. Some say, destroy what destroys you but what if you've fallen for the one that can destroy you? Don't feel guilty, his wolf whispers. You'll destroy him too. It's not safe at all, Taehyung accepts the fact. Jungkook won't be safe with him at all. "No.. Really. Get the fuck away from me." Taehyung's heart burned, burned and burned before it turned into ice. And he'll do anything he can to protect the younger boy. "Please take him with you, hyung. I can't stand him."  His throat is raw, ugly, damaging words scraping their way out of his mouth. A thick, suffocating silence fills the area and Jungkook slowly slides off Taehyung's lap, bangs protecting him from any imploring eyes. "Jin hyung, I'll be careful but please let me stay where I'm supposed to." Jungkook's voice is monotone, no stutter, no emotion, a completely blank canvas. "You see? He really doesn't want me. Please don't worry yourself over me. It's not good for your beauty."  Jin doesn't laugh. Jungkook giggles softly and steps out of their booth and Taehyung is hot on his heels. The older couple's silence spoke a thousand words.   Chapter End Notes I would really appreciate it if you guys could tell me what you're expecting to read further.. My soul is quivering, people. I need rest. Next update in three weeks or so. FOR SURE. See the end of the chapter for more notes   Jungkook’s oldest memory of his childhood honestly, isn’t clear. It is a mess of flashbacks and emotions that are a mix of dark, gloomy, and unclear. Many say that their childhood was when they had the best years of their life. Jungkook can relate a little, but at the same time, not too much. If he searches for happy memories, he can surely find a few – playing with his hyungs, running around the burrow without a care in the world and just, the carelessness of being a child, oblivious to the horrors of this world. The bunny tries to ignore the negativity and uneasiness that’s seeping into the memories until he can’t anymore. The bunny loves his parents in the way he still can after all the emotional scars they gave him which he still carries around. They weren’t necessarily bad people - maybe he’s just being dramatic, his mother was alright, if not a bit too traditional and his father, an unpredictable man. Jungkook hates remembering this part of his past, feeling helpless even now. One thing Jungkook can swear on, from his experience is this – you can forget your pain only if a greater pain is inflicted upon you. He hates remembering that one time his mother had hit him and his hyung just to make them stop crying, then the countless times his father did too. It wasn’t anything serious, just a harsh slap on the back or two. But still, the four year old bunny was shocked into silence from his mother’s glare and his stinging back, only to cry harder into his bed after his mother had left. As he grew older, Jungkook realized that he had been through mild child abuse. He wailed when he found that whatever he thought was normal parenting was anything but that. And since that moment, he promised to himself that he would never inflict this kind of pain to anyone, especially not youngling that are powerless to defend themselves. Does anger kill love? For some it does and for some it doesn’t. He hated his parents all his pre-teen years until one day he came across a few homeless children of the prey and his throat constricted. Jungkook will forever be grateful for his parents because even if he’s haunted by their memories, they are still home, as broken and scary it might be. Sadness was something permanent on his canvas. Sure, he splattered layers on layers of colorful, bright paint until all he saw was light. But the dark streak is still there, slowly fighting through the lighter, pretty shades and when Jungkook turns around to look at his picture again, that ugly streak is as thick and haunting as ever. One day, when he was sixteen, he had been watching some award show and his attention was drawn when the celebrities had thanked the fans for the award and also their parents. They went on talking about how much they love them and how they wouldn’t be where they were that day if it weren’t for their parents. Jungkook supposed that it must be nice, to love someone who raised you. Either Jungkook was not lucky enough or maybe he just doesn’t deserve that kind of basic love. Swallowing thickly, body pressed to the car’s door, Jungkook stares outside the window and doesn’t care that his vision turns blurry due to his stingy eyes. He’s sitting the farthest he can from the wolf. He would never force himself onto someone who clearly didn't want him.  So was this how their life was going to be? Both trapped in something they didn’t want? Seems like it. But what else could he have done to make him more of a perfect carrier? He listened to his mother, learned to do all the chores carriers were expected to know and he is capable of taking care of someone. His mother had been strict regarding this aspect, especially when he was the only one left, yet to be Matched. In olden days, when carriers are born, the family knows that they are never meant to stay, they are only raised and prepared to be sent off to some other family. He’s glad that the law that had been passed at least kept the families from killing the carriers, and since they’re valued now, Jungkook is relieved that no innocent babies are harmed. Though he knows that his family would never do that something of that extent, even if they were a few centuries behind. His parents put in a lot of effort to polish him into a perfect carrier, a perfect mate. From his diet to his clothes to his behaviour, everything was checked and maintained and that’s probably why he was small, body begging at him to feed it more, just a little more so that it can grow, unrestrained. Jungkook at seventeen, on the day of his medical examination, realized with a thudding heart that he can escape from the clutches of his parents if he’s Matched and mated so without hesitation, out of all the options on the paper before him, he had chosen the one which said, ‘I am willing to get Matched within a month.’ It was the only choice with the shortest time span and he couldn’t wait to get away. He’d finally be free even if it meant that he would belong to someone else.  Jungkook now knows it was basically a transfer of ownership, nothing more, and nothing else. So much for having wild dreams.. Oh, but Jungkook’s not giving up. The wolf already claimed that he wants nothing to do with him and since Jungkook is a good furry, he will keep to himself, be civil with the wolf and do whatever they have to do to get pups. He regrets not knowing what exactly entails mating and he would have called Seokjin without a second thought but his hyung would only become more anxious and also, he’s embarrassed at the memory of the wolf rejecting him in front of the older couple. Ah, he must not have been desirable enough.. Though Jungkook doesn’t have a high self-esteem, he’s not exactly self-conscious either. His body is alright, lean and tight without any fat except for the thick thighs of his that he just hates. He doesn’t like the way his shorts or pants cling to them, making him look fat, completely drawing the attention away from his thin waist. Maybe the wolf liked really thin partners? Or maybe someone with a nice curvy body. Definitely not someone like him, who looked like a kid.  But he’s not. He's mature enough to go into heat, physically and mentally. Only, the wold didn't want to acknowledge it. Jungkook lets out a sad sigh, lost in the purr of the car engine. He suddenly notices that they’re not in the same route and he’s about to ask where they’re headed to, but stops himself. It couldn’t be their new apartment, it's too soon. What would the both of them do in such a small space?  Honestly, Jungkook thought the wolf would dump him somewhere on the road but that didn’t happen. And how can it? They’re matched, and nothing could be done until and unless they fail to have pups. Again, Jungkook wants to smash his head against the glass. It’s so frustrating to be in the dark. Mating had always been like a taboo in his home, no one ever mentioned it until suddenly the kits were of age and they were shoved into all the procedures and Matched away. Jungkook belatedly realizes that he got into this arrangement completely blind. He doesn’t know what to do or even what will be done to him. He could ask Taehyung but one side glance at him and his ticking jaw makes the idea fly out of the bunny’s head. It’s fine. He’ll just google it. He has a week’s worth of time anyway. Jungkook dismisses his thoughts when the car stops after pulling into a parking lot. A second later, Taehyung is opening the door for him and he steps out, heart wild in his chest. This was it, he just knows that it's their new home. They would start living together now.. How will their life be? How will the wolf treat him? Will Jungkook get morning kisses? Will they cook dinner together on weekends? Is Jungkook allowed to have a mini garden of his in their balcony? Wait, do they even have a balcony? And what if Taehyung didn’t like his plants? Oh my god, Jungkook doesn’t eat meat.. How can he cook for the wolf? And what about— I can’t stand him. Right. Taehyung makes a small noise and Jungkook watches as the older opens the car door again, bends inside to rummage through something and when he comes to stand beside the bunny again, he has a camera in his hand. Or was it a recorder? When there’s a tiny red light staring into Jungkook’s eyes, his face warms and he quickly whips his face around, hand blocking the view. “What—What are you doing? Please stop it..” Jungkook covers his face with his hands and peeks through his fingers, hoping to find the recorder gone. To his chagrin, it’s right there. “It’s embarrassing!” “Please?” Taehyung pleads, and their eyes meet for the first time since they left the café. Jungkook is caught off guard to see that the wolf’s eyes are still red. Still, a pout forms on Jungkook’s lips as his gaze flickers between the lens and the wolf. Grey, furry ears twitch once and Jungkook keep an eye on them, fascinated. “Why?” He ends up whining and he doesn’t care that he acts like a child because he’s been feeling things since the appointment. Things that are so very foreign to him, he doesn’t know how to deal with them. “Memories.” Taehyung looks away, chest heaving with a large breath. “They last when people don’t.” Taehyung looks like he said something that he shouldn’t have. But why was the wolf worried? It’s not like Jungkook could even leave him, even if the older couldn’t tolerate him, they were still pretty much stuck. And here the wolf speaks as if he was scared that the younger would leave any minute. “But I’m not going anywhere.” Jungkook frowns, his cheeks puffing out the slightest. “I know you don’t want me—“ “It’s for the pups, I want them to see our life.. before them.” Jungkook blinks, eyes on the wolf and head tilted to the side. “And also.. for me—us, to look at.. in the f-future.” Jungkook knows when someone is hiding something from him and right now, he sees all the signs but decides to let it go, head feeling fuzzy with the idea of small pups. The bunny had always liked children, always wanted to give the right kind of parental love that he couldn’t get. He can’t wait to hold his own kit or pup but mulling over the wolf’s words all this while, he probably only wants pups from him. Does he not like kits? Jungkook would get that answer in a few days, from a teary Taehyung, revealing to him that it wouldn’t be possible for them to have kits at all. "Can you please—please, smile?" Jungkook smiles at the lens for now, holding up a peace sign and Taehyung huffs out a soft laugh through his nose, lower half of his face hidden from Jungkook’s view due to the camera. “You pups see this beauty right here? He's your Eomma. So beautiful, isn’t he? You’re getting your pretty features from Baby.” Taehyung speaks like he’s in love with Jungkook, voice deep but soft, uttering words which will be forever held in time, trapped in these tapes that Jungkook doesn’t know will be the only thing that will help the wolf pull through hard times. Occasionally, Taehyung would stand beside Jungkook, and the bunny would look into the viewfinder to see the wolf staring right at him. Then, he’s the focus again, lens angled at him and Taehyung retreating. He’s still hurt from the events that took place earlier today and he doesn’t know how to behave around the wolf. It doesn’t help that he catches himself staring at the older every other minute, stomach tightening in an unfamiliar manner but he can’t help it because Taehyung almost doesn’t look real. His features are so strong but delicate at the same time, Jungkook is left reeling. “Do you like this apartment?” Taehyung asks, sounding like he had to force the words out while they were having takeout for lunch and Jungkook doesn’t understand why the wolf is suddenly talkative and why he has to continue recording him, while he’s scarfing down food like the wild, hungry bunny he is right now. Their kids really don’t need to see him like this. “Like, for real.” “It’s beautiful… The best I could ever live in. Thank you.” He says honestly and bows his head a little, still unable to believe that he would now live in such a wonderful place. To call their fully furnished penthouse suite ‘wonderful’ would be an understatement. It’s fucking huge with two levels – the living room, open kitchen and an a few spare rooms consisting of the base floor and a loft, two bedrooms, an office and a library in the upper level. One thing that Jungkook noticed is that it looks very.. detached and cold. If only they could change that a little. “You can have it decorated however you want.” Taehyung pushes a black card over the kitchen island towards Jungkook and the bunny runs his finger over the wolf’s name and the numbers bulging from the plastic. The raven haired perks up, ears shooting up in excitement. “Don’t hold yourself back.” Jungkook tries to hide his smile into his plate but he’s sure the damned camera caught it. After lunch, Taehyung falls into one of the fluffy couches, throwing his arm over his eyes. The pleasant smile on his lips is enough for the bunny to tell that the wolf is content. Why is it so that the wolf never smiles at him? There seems to be a sudden coldness between them that only melts when they’re recording. The bunny holds back a sigh, shuffling the cushions around the love seat properly before plopping into it. He wasn’t expecting to see Taehyung laying on his side, an arm folded under his head and the camera in his hand again. Of course, Jungkook doesn’t know that Taehyung was recording his ass. Zoomed in. . . . The wolf claims that he should get going just an hour after their lunch. They barely spoke, with Jungkook lost in his thoughts and Taehyung replaying the videos over and over again. “I’ll get going. I left work in between to get you.” He doesn’t say anything else and just gets up from the couch, doesn’t even look at Jungkook as he slips on his shoes. “Why are you.. leaving? Stay?” The words fall out before he can catch them. Taehyung's back tenses before he turns to face him. “I just told you, Jungkook. I have work to do—“ Jungkook is very sensitive to screaming or being on the end of one’s frustration. He doesn’t say this but his eyes.. his stupid, stupid eyes betray him like they always do. “I’m sorry. I won’t ask you to stay ever again. I forgot that you don’t like me.” He turns on his heel in a hurry and through his blurry vision, he can make out the stairs a few feet ahead of him. No matter how embarrassed or hurt Jungkook is, he’s not blind to his surroundings. So he takes the steps slowly, blinking rapidly to clear his eyes and lip trapped between his teeth to keep any noises from escaping. Taehyung, as a wolf, can hear the bunny’s sniffles, the ragged breathing and can clearly see the boy’s sad, limp bunny ears. He look so small, climbing up the stairs all alone and Taehyung can’t bear the sight anymore so he leaves before his wolf takes over. Jungkook doesn’t see Taehyung’s heartbroken expression, only hears the slam of their main door. Jungkook swallow, not believing his ears for a second, did the wolf actually leave? And here he was, thinking that maybe the older cared even a little.  When he reaches the loft, he makes a beeline to the bed placed just a few feet before him and cries until his eyes burn and his throat collapses. He falls asleep like that. A few hours later, he wakes up to light hunger pangs. He’s disoriented for the first few minutes, turning onto his back, he remembers what all happened earlier and grimaces. After having a small snack, he does something that he should have done years ago. He sits on the center of the bed with a laptop before him which he found on the bedside table and hesitates but his fingers are traitors, they fly over the keys, typing out the words that would reveal him the big, bad secret. Mating videos. He still freaks out and so, before the website he had just clicked opens up, he switches to a new tab and searches about heats. His face is burning by the time he’s done reading the article and as much as he wants to procrastinate further, he has to see that stupid video and be done with. And how bad could it be? Mating was also shown in the movies and though he blushed whenever he watches those scenes, it still seemed sweet but passionate at the same time, the actors a mess of limbs and the sensual background music only adding up to the mood. Porn is of course different. It’s crude, vulgar, downright dirty and triggering, truthful.  Jungkook being the unsuspecting bun he is, hopes for something sweet and cute. Instead he’s met with a pop up ad, with just two faceless people – one of the male holding the other one down into the mattress by his neck and fucking into him. The bunny just stares, the obscene visual overwhelming his entire being. He registers the noises the same unfortunate minute he realizes that his stomach feels unusually warm, a strange heat seeping lower and lower until it settles in his pelvis and he’s hard. He gasps loudly, heart beating wildly in his chest in fear and adrenaline and he doesn’t know what to do. The more he stares or even hears the sounds, his situation seems to just worsen. When it begins to hurt, tears spring to his eyes and he slams the laptop close, kicks it to the edge of the bed. He’s aware of what he’s going through but he has never been hard for no reason at all. Hell, except for awkward morning wood once in a while, Jungkook’s body behaves pretty decently. The bunny’s breath comes in short pants as pleasant but foreign sensations shoot up his spine and whines, hand hovering over his tented jeans. It would have been so much more convenient if he was wearing a nightgown or a skirt and as a carrier, Jungkook doesn’t even feel an ounce of guilt for stuffing his bag with his favourite clothes. He runs a shaky finger on the bulge under his straining zipper and his eyes widen his horror when he feels something wet drip out of him, tickling the back of his thighs. He hastily crawls to the edge of the bed and drops to the floor, scared of soiling the mattress. How would he explain it to the wolf then? That seems to be a bad train of thought because there’s a sudden desperation coursing through him as he presses his back against the side of the bed, his knees pulled up. He groans softly as images after images of the wolf flash through his mind and he needs to feel those hands on him, inside him. Jungkook's body seems to know what it wanted better than he did.  The bunny hastily unbuttons his jeans the sound of the zipper is embarrassingly loud in the silent suite as he pushes at it and he’s so into the burning of his insides, he slides a little lower until he can throw his head back onto the bed. With his hand sinking into his jeans and under his boxers, Jungkook doesn’t care that the first time he’s ever touching himself, he has the wolf’s face burned into his brain, imagining scenario after scenario of the two of them together. A sob tumbles past his lips as a stray tear slips from the side of his eye and into his hair. He curls his palm around his sticky erection tighter, hips jumping into his hold from the filthy friction and the back of his jeans is a wet mess by now. He knows that instead of jerking himself off, it would be better if he has a dick up his ass, tearing his insides apart and his stomach twists tightly in delight, just at that thought. Jungkook is glad that the wolf isn’t there right now or else he would have shamelessly begged the older to fuck him until he can’t think. The cold metal around his neck feels tighter than ever before and Jungkook never knew that he could come from lack of air and also at the proof of someone’s ownership of him clasped on his body. No, not just someone’s. Taehyung’s. White stripes of stickiness land on his t-shirt and he notices that he can now smell his own scent, too sweet and clogging. It slowly sinks into him that his hole is a wet fluttering mess and his throat feels smaller and smaller because here he is, come on his heaving chest and the wolf had left him all alone. Jungkook swallows hard, eyes hardening and lips trembling. He gets up and pulls his shirt off, throwing it on the floor and slides his jeans and boxers down his legs completely and kicks them to the side and walk in search of the bathroom which he finds in the first bedroom in the hallway to the right. The bathroom is the size of two nests from his burrow and when he passes the big mirror stretching in the wall, he thinks that the wolf is stupid. Here he is, ready to give his body and heart and the wolf doesn’t seem to want any of it. Too bad for him, Jungkook thinks as he stares at himself in the mirror. He spins slowly, eyes glued to every dip and curve of his body. “Such a fucking shame Taehyung-shi doesn’t want this.” It must be his hormones that changed him because Jungkook accepts that he’s never looked this pretty before. It seemed like his body was giving out a mating call and when he turns his back towards the mirror, he looks at the glossy sheen just under his ass, at the back of his thighs – slick. Is it so bad that he wants Taehyung to ravish him? Seems like it. But there is an embedded sadness within him that rears its head when Jungkook’s under the spray of the shower and he stays in the shower stall, staring blankly through the blurry glass surrounding him until he can’t differentiate his tears from the water streaming down his face. When he gets out, he wraps a towel around his hips and heaves his bag onto the bed and opens it with a sign. He has decided on a three things: First, he won’t let Taehyung know what he did in his absence. So he puts on eye liner to make his eyes look less swollen. Second, he’ll take full advantage of his situation. If he won’t be getting any loving then he will use his trophy wife status to the fullest. He orders all the clothes he wants, a new phone that he wanted and the biggest dildo he could find to celebrate his sexual awakening. By the end of three hours, he knows Taehyung’s credit card number by heart. Third, he’ll binge watch anime because believe it or not, anime saves lives. Oh, he’s going to live his life like a fucking sugar baby if he has to. . . . The wolf swears to god that if he gets another message from his bank regarding even one more credit card purchase, he’s going to flip the table. His eye twitches when he hears another mild ‘ding’ going off, indicating a new message. He side eyes his phone and the screen is lit up from a message from his bank. What the fuck? Taehyung is not worried about how much money he has to pay, or even what he has to pay for. The thing is, since he left the younger and got to work, he couldn’t fucking concentrate and he only kept drowning in his misery, guilt eating away at his soul and his wolf was all fired up, clawing and stalking around in agitation because Taehyung was ignoring his instincts once again. Taehyung feels like one of those cold, mean husbands in the dramas who ignore their wives and work late into morning while the lonely wife slowly starts feeling unloved and starts cheating. The wolf’s fingers stop on the keys and he glance at the time, biting his lip in contemplation when sees that it’s 10:35 PM. What would the bunny be doing now? Probably asleep in their room or doing… doing what? Taehyung realizes with a sinking heart that the younger was lonely since afternoon, having abandoned by him. He must have been so lonely and bored out of his mind and that’s probably why the younger ordered a fuck ton of items that Taehyung didn’t even bother to find out. Unable to ignore the uneasy feeling in his chest, Taehyung pushes himself away from his desk, collects his phone and walk out of his office and into the almost dark building. It’s empty, except for the few staff who greet him as he leaves the building. Pulling the car onto the road, Taehyung sighs, pressing his head back into the headrest, breathing out a heavy sigh. The roads are not empty, the busy streets of Gangnam stay alive all night and Taehyung’s stomach quivers, the wolf having not eaten anything after lunch. His shoulders slumps, wolf ears flattening on his head in disappointment after resigning himself to the fact that he has to cook after he goes home. When Taehyung stands in front of the penthouse door, he knocks and when there’s no answer but he hears minute shuffling. He waits but when Jungkook doesn’t answer, he rests his head against the wood and pulls out the keys and unlocks the door. The wolf doesn’t make any noise as he’s suddenly engulfed in a hauntingly familiar scent and he takes in the scene before him, searching for something that must have happened in his absence. The small lights on the ceiling are dimmed to their lowest, the only other light being the one in the open kitchen, bathing a soft white glow over their living room and bouncing off their couches. Taehyung almost misses the small lump hiding under a fuzzy throw blanket if it weren’t for the shiny bunny ears softly thrown over the couch’s hand rest. He sneaks in closer and his suspicions are confirmed, the scent only grows stronger and stronger. The younger had decided to camp out here, the laptop perched on the table displaying a paused anime video. Tokyo Ghoul. Taehyung stands there for a few minutes, thinking of all possible reasons that would cause a spike in the sweetness of the younger’s scent before he braves to lift a trembling finger to poke at the bunny ears. He draws his hand back quickly, expecting some wild reaction but not even a twitch of the ear. Feeling braver, the wolf lets his finger sink in a little deeper into the black fur and this time Jungkook makes a soft sound, flicking his ear. Taehyung shouldn’t be doing this, touching the bunny’s ears like this and his finger tingles from how soft the fur is and he shakes his hand to get rid of the feeling. The bunny looks comfortable enough so he steps around the couch to make himself some dinner but stops short. His gaze wanders back to Jungkook and considering that their ears were really sensitive, the younger should have woken up and he didn’t so that meant, the bunny was a heavy sleeper. Taehyung pretends that it’s his wolf which makes him inch back and bend down to blindly plant a kiss on where he assumes the bunny’s head to be. He then sprints to the kitchen when Jungkook lets out a soft hum, face tingling with the warmth spreading underneath his skin. He grips the counter tightly, wanting to kiss the younger for real. He could really drop this act of his and pounce on the younger and he wants to. It’s just that the consequences would be irreversible. And Taehyung would rather pretend that he hated the bunny than lose him forever. But they have only six more days left anyway, and why inflict damage earlier than he has to. The wolf cranks his neck side to side and winces when he hears a crack. He rolls his shoulders and the muscles in his back pull, stiff as if getting ready for a fight and he had been like this since a few weeks, since after his rut was paused. It’s the only thing that makes him this reluctant to touch the younger. It’s already as bad as it is, even with his rut hitting in the regular pattern, he could accidentally use excess strength on the bunny and now, he’s like a coiled snake that will snap the moment Jungkook’s heat hits him. Taehyung should just tell Jungkook that he won’t be in his right mind when his rut starts and to go to any extent, if necessary to keep himself safe. Right now all he feels for Jungkook is uncontrollable lust and extreme fondness, the latter because naturally, as the younger falls under ‘prey’ and now that all have evolved enough to not want to gobble up the weaker, Taehyung feels extremely protective and possessive of the younger. But sometimes, a darkness spreads and he just want to dominate the younger. He refuses to believe the weird, soft feeling in his chest to be anything else. In their world full of broken hearts and monsters in disguise, Taehyung has learned that true mates don’t exist anymore. And even if they did, Jungkook wouldn’t be his and Taehyung doesn’t want anybody else. So what if there could be somebody else out there, who could bare their soul to Taehyung? The wolf is already obsessed enough with the younger that he has lost the capability to picture himself with someone else. Then you’ll fucking kill yourself if you don’t breed him. You know he’ll be sent off to some other fucker if you fail. “Shut up!” His voice rings out in the kitchen and if only Taehyung had made peace with his wolf, life would have been remarkably easier. He’s breathing hard, skin itching to do something, something, any fucking thing. It’s one of those moments when he’s perplexed, torn between instinct and logic. He needs to clear things between the two of them because now that he’s ready to face it, there’s no way out of this. His wolf is wagging its tail, excited at the possibility of finally being free. “Not yet.” Taehyung hisses and when he shakes his head, from the corner of his eyes, he sees something shine so sliding his gaze to the side, he makes out dishes in the sink. Looking around, he spots the chinaware he completely managed to miss before. Still silent on his feet, he moves towards the island, and touches the ceramic bowl, finds it to be still warm. He blinks, surprised and lifts the lid gently and sure enough, there is freshly cooked kimchi fried rice. As Taehyung continues to ogle at his dinner for the night, his mouth waters as he tries to remember the last time someone had actually cooked for him. When he lived with his parents, they had a maid and a cook, so to expect Jungkook to cook for him wasn’t even in his fantasy. “How long you gonna stare at it?” Taehyung thanks the gods above that he didn’t scream like a frightened pup. His gasp was more of a sharp breath sucked in through his mouth. Jungkook’s cheek is resting on the back of the couch and his bunny ears sway for a second in the air before unexpectedly falling right onto his face. The bunny he doesn’t even bother to flick them away while Taehyung jumps a little. Jungkook just smacks his pouty lips, blinking sleepily at the wolf, hair ruffled. Taehyung would have choked on his kimchi from the younger’s cuteness if he was eating it. “Didn’t think you’d come back.” Jungkook closes his eyes again and the guilt hits Taehyung like a bullet train and he wants to do something right now to compensate for his mistreatment. The younger doesn’t deserve to be at the end of his mood swings. “Jungkook-ah..” Taehyung clears his throat, turns his back towards the bunny and moves towards the cabinets to pull out two plates and places them on the island, opposite to each other. When he looks up, he’s glad that the plates aren’t in his hold anymore because he’s sure he lost the control of his brain. Jungkook gets up from the couch sluggishly, blanket piled around his shoulders like a grand robe, clutching both ends in a weak grip right over the middle of his chest. Taehyung used to think that he’s not someone who gets surprised easily but now, he’s baffled, shocked dumb when Jungkook rounds the couch and the wolf is fed with a lot of exposed skin. The blanket wrapped around the bunny decides to part right around the younger’s mid thighs and Taehyung can’t take in the heavenly visual, can’t watch the way the muscle in those thick thighs move, his pink knees, his impossibly attractive calves and – oh my god those ankles – fuck, he’s barefoot. By now, Taehyung is extremely worried about his mental health. Was it normal to be attracted to someone’s ankles? No, it’s can’t be. He’s suddenly not hungry for food anymore, he’d gladly bite those thighs instead. “Yah, yah, yah!” While all this melodrama runs in his head, externally, he freaks the fuck out. “Why are you—“ He squeaks like a shameless idiot and turns around quickly when the blanket slips from Jungkook’s shoulder and exposes a nude lacy strap. “What the bloody fuck are you wearing? Or not.” He grits out, eyes pinched shut. Here he was, trying to be civil and maybe empathize but if the bunny goes parading around the suite with that much skin show, then next time those clothes weren’t going to survive the abuse of Taehyung’s claws. Just a flick of his finger and he could snap off that noodle thin strap. “Oh..” The bunny sounds flustered and a few moments later, he hears the scraping of a stool against the tiles. “Sorry. You can look now.” Taehyung slowly peeks over his shoulder and the bunny is innocently sitting on the stool facing the island, both hands clutching the blanket up to his throat. The wolf presses his lips into a thin line as he reluctantly sits on his stool, looking at the younger before him with narrowed eyes. He suddenly doesn’t know what to say so instead, pulls the fried rice closer. “Oh, let me!” Jungkook’s hands shoot out at the time and they both freeze, Jungkook standing in his place staring at their hands on top of each other while the wolf feasts on the vision that is Jungkook’s chest. Tilting his head to the side and running his tongue over the inside of his cheek, he studies the younger’s attire. Taehyung can only see above the bunny’s waist and he doesn’t even know what to call it but it looks like thin, nude colored satin held up with thin straps. It conveniently exposes the raven haired boy’s delicate collarbone and smooth chest. Jungkook follows his line of sight and they both watch they bunny’s nipples pebble under the flimsy material and Taehyung's mouth floods with saliva. Their hands burn from where they’re still on top of each other and the bunny rips his hand away quickly but Taehyung being faster, catches hold of his hand, fingers closing around the younger’s wrist, still marveling over the contrast between Jungkook’s black choker, his pale complexion and the nude satin. The younger tries to tug his hand away from the wolf’s hold as he crosses his free arm over his chest, hiding it away from Taehyung’s view. He grimaces in displeasure. “I’m-I’m so sorry. I know you d-don’t like looking at me—“ Taehyung stands and pulls at the younger’s wrist until he’s almost bent forward, that stupid satin dipping lower. Jungkook’s round eyes are on him and Taehyung takes in the worried eyebrows, smudged eyeliner and is that lip gloss? “Baby.. You're wrong.” He purrs out, finally, finally dragging his lips over Jungkook’s soft cheeks but not quite kissing him. “Got all pretty for me?” Jungkook’s breath hitches and it’s right in his ear as the wolf’s other hand reaches down to hold the wrist of the bunny’s hand that is glued to his chest. When he’s met with resistance, Taehyung tugs at Jungkook’s arm forcefully, growling lowly. The younger seems to shrink, whining at the force exerted up on him but maintains eye contact with the wolf. “You have no fucking idea what all I have to go through just so I that I don’t hurt you.” Taehyung’s voice is controlled as he presses closer until their noses brush against each other and the younger smells so much more enticing from this close. It’s high time now and it would be so much better if he just takes what’s being offered to him. His nails hurt from the pressure of his claws wanting to break free but he controls it with all his might, the younger being too close for it to be safe. “Why do you do it, huh? You never fucking listen..” He hooks in a finger into Jungkook’s neck line, pulling it lower sharply. “Doing this to make me react?” It’s the beginning of their first fight, and they’re both emotionally the weakest than ever. “Why do you care? You don’t.. don’t like me anyway. Isn’t it easy to ignore me?” Jungkook unexpectedly retorts back when least expected. “Just pretend that you don’t see me and my clothes. I’m not asking you to love me, I’m not asking you to touch me, nothing.” When Jungkook struggles in his hold violently, Taehyung’s temper flares and he snarls, teeth exposed. The younger doesn’t understand Taehyung’s agony at all, the wolf connects the dots, as if he doesn’t even have any idea. Jungkook’s eyes burn with anger as they slowly fill up and he turns his face away sharply, exhaling roughly through his mouth. “Look at me when I’m talking to you, damn it!” “STOP FUCKING SCREAMING AT ME, I TOLD YOU IT SCARES ME!” Taehyung let’s go of the younger at once and Jungkook falls forward, sobbing loudly, his frame shaking. The wolf feels cold, invisible fingers squeezing around his throat and he sinks to his knees, hands in his hair. Why does this happen to them.. One moment they're flirting and the next moment, they're fighting.  “And-And.. What if I d-dressed up for you? You called me pretty but won’t touch me—Do you, do you not like my body? Am I too s-small for you? They didn’t l-let me eat, that’s why! But I’m eating n-now so please wait, I’ll become g-good.” Taehyung is filled with that frighteningly familiar nausea and without thinking, he cradles the bunny’s wet face in his hands and he’s never seen anyone look this pretty when crying. “What are you.. What are you saying?” “Please.. I don’t know what’s wrong b-but I want you t-to touch me..” When Jungkook blinks, more tears squeeze out. “It’s not enough when I do. Can't you d-do that?"  “You don’t understand..” Taehyung wants to sob, words failing to express his grief and fear. “I’m so much stronger than I look and I’ve been.. contained, you see. If I touch you longer than I can handle, I don’t know till what extent I could hurt you. I’ve wanted to do things to you since the first day I saw you.” “You know that we’re not lucky enough to have who we want.. but just one look at you and I felt like I couldn’t ask for more. You’re everything I ever wanted. So, so perfect for me.” Jungkook’s eyes glitter, as his sobs die down to cute hiccups. Taehyung scoots forward, holding the younger’s feverish face in shaky hands. “I’m a wolf, Jungkook. Someone who’s meant to kill you and eat you if we were completely animals. But our instincts are still there, aren’t they? So it makes me want to be reckless with you, to push you, pull you, haul you into my lap and have my way with you—“ “But you don’t..” Jungkook’s words would be sad if it wasn’t for his breathy voice. He says it like he wants all those things to be done to him and it’s too much for the wolf. The bunny sniffles weakly, fluttering his eye lashes. Taehyung can’t believe what he’s hearing as he stands up, dropping his hands from the younger’s face. Jungkook follows, still leaning forward. “Why don’t you? Always teasing me..” Taehyung studies the younger for some time, contemplating on his next action. It could be crossing the line but damn it all to hell, that fucking line was blurred right from the start. “Your body and clothes won’t survive the love my hands have to give. Am I allowed to,” The wolf trails off, loops his finger around a lacy strap and yanks hard until there’s a sharp snap, and the bunny gasps in surprise, hand flying up to keep the satin in place, from sliding lower. “do things like this? Because I haven’t had my rut.. in a year.” “I can’t even tell if I’ll stop when you ask me to during your heat. It doesn’t seem right.. for me to take you so roughly for your—our first time. I’ll d- damage you completely.. there’s-there’s no way for you to not get pregnant once I’m done with you. If you get knotted that many times—“ He holds Jungkook’s bewildered gaze before dropping his forehead to the younger’s just exposed shoulder. "I want it. All of it." A new, stubborn streak decorates Jungkook's voice and Taehyung ignores those words and his body's reaction to them for now. Consent. It's Taehyung's new favourite drug. His wolf howls in delight.  The cool metal choker pressing against his cheek is a reassurance that everything can be fixed, it’s not too late because Jungkook is still here, still his. “Once we start, we won’t be able to stop. I’m going to hurt you whether I like it or not. So please wait for a few days, I won’t be able to hold myself back anymore then.” “But here you go, provoking me and I was so close to taking you a while back.. just had to lift you over and—“ Jungkook swallows and choker ever so slightly digs into his skin. “You don’t know how agonizing it is, bunny.. You’re like an all you can eat buffet for me and I’m on the brink of death from starvation. So try to imagine what I’m going through right now.. When I said that I couldn’t stand you, I meant every single word.” He nuzzles lower into the younger’s exposed skin, unable to resist. The bunny smells so sweet, like candy and Taehyung just wants to lick him up. "Do you.. promise to give me pups?" Jungkook seems to want the only thing that Taehyung is terrified to give him but how can he refuse the bunny if he asks like that.  "P-Promise." When his claws finally break through, Taehyung hisses and pulls up straighter, brushes Jungkook’s messy hair away with little hesitance and to his amazement, the younger doesn’t even flinch, just closes his eyes. “Let’s sit down?” Jungkook wordlessly plops onto his stool, hand falling into his lap. Taehyung’s eyes take in the newly revealed skin and if only he ripped the cloth just a bit more roughly, he could see the younger’s nipple. “I think.. it would be better if you cover yourself.” Jungkook leans to his side to pull the blanket from the floor and drapes it around himself, safe again from the wolf’s desperate eyes. Taehyung’s stomach growls and he blushes when Jungkook’s gaze snaps up to him. He almost forgot that he was hungry, pulled into this argument. Jungkook sniffles again, nose and cheeks flushed when he reaches forward to feel the china bowl and sighs. He pushes away from the island, tying the edges of his blanket in front of his neck like a cape and stand, taking the bowl into his hands. “I’ll warm it up. You must be really hungry.. Sorry for distracting you.” As the microwave works it’s magic, Taehyung shakes his head asks one thing that has been on his mind since the moment he saw Jungkook. “Are you.. are you wearing anything under that?” He looks lame, jabbing at finger towards the bunny’s chest and Jungkook looks down in confusion, a bunny ear half bent. “Yes, didn’t you see..” He trails of when the wolf lowers his gaze to the younger’s smooth, bare legs and Jungkook shifts, bunching the blanket near his thighs and hitching it up above his hips shamelessly. "Yes. Aren't they cute?" Taehyung should get a prize for not fainting from the amount of surprises he got today. He hums weakly after looking at the tiny matching shorts hugging the younger’s legs and he shakily turns away, breathing hard. “My heart can’t take this..” Jungkook silently places the bowl back in front of the wolf when the timer goes off and serves a healthy serving of the friend rice onto his plate when the older continues to stare at Jungkook like he was seeing a god. “Should I stop wearing them?” The bunny asks, ears falling flat on the either side of his head and Taehyung internally curses when his heart squeezes dangerously. “I never had the chance to wear them before.. and they’re so comfortable, perfect for summer. But, if you won’t let me then..” “No, no no! You can wear whatever you like. Sorry. They just.. look really nice on you." He bows his head in a haste to mend things quickly. Taehyung didn’t think even in his wildest dreams that he could be made into a villain this quickly. “I’ll uh.. I’ll buy you more. Already destroyed one, didn’t I?” He wasn’t expecting to be enchanted with a bunny smile and yeah, it’s definitely the steam from the kimchi fried rice that’s warming his face. When he lifts his hand to shove in a spoonful of rice, to his utter disdain, his claws refuse to retreat and he stares at his hand in disbelief. Maybe he was meant to really die from starvation because there’s no way in hell that he can eat with these furry hands of his. “Oh.. You can’t eat like that?” Jungkook asks, concern slipping into his voice and the wolf shakes his head, embarrassed. But soon enough, there’s a spoonful of kimchi hovering before his mouth and he’s met with innocently round eyes when he looks up. “I can help.” Taehyung doesn’t remember the last time he’s been hand fed and he doesn’t know how to feel, when his body suddenly decides turn up in temperature. As he opens his mouth and closes his lips around the spoon, he pulls the food onto his tongue and shoves his jacket off his shoulders and down his arms. A soft sound is made when the heavy fabric hits the floor and Taehyung’s tongue is tasting heaven. “Good?” The bunny asks, timid. “Perfect.” . . . “What the fuck.. This is stupid!” Taehyung grumbles sleepily, clicking his tongue in annoyance as he tosses around on the cushions, trying to find a comfortable position. It’s hot and cold at the same time and he’s set on giving up on sleep completely. “You’re being stupid, hyung. I told you to sleep on the bed.” Jungkook’s words come out muffled, spoken into the pillows surrounding him. The way the bunny calls him hyung is a sure ticket to his kink list.  “Yah!” The wolf lifts his head off the cushion to glare at the younger but with the air conditioner on full blast, the bunny is all bundled up expect for a foot poking out. Both of them are laying parallel to each other on their two separate expensive- as-fuck couches, ignoring their expensive-as-fuck bed because Jungkook, for whatever reason – he refused to tell Taehyung – doesn’t want to sleep in their room. And Taehyung’s pride won’t let him sleep on a soft comfortable bed all alone when the bunny is sleeping in the living room. “Bunny,” The wolf calls out as he rests his head on his arm and he’s more than ready to fall sleep, emotionally drained but he doesn’t like this distance that is between him and the younger. They've become comfortable around each other after their fight and he’s scared that they will be back to square one if he doesn’t do something more, doesn’t put in more effort. “come here.” “Huh?” Jungkook sounds offended, his blanket making a dramatic swish as he pushes it away from his face and squints at the older, frowning at him. “I’m sleeping. Don’t wanna move! And.. ‘s warm here.” “I’m warmer, Baby.” “Then why don’t you come here?” Jungkook huffs, lips puckered in an irritated pout as he drags himself over and stands before the older, unmoving. The wolf wraps his arms around the bunny’s middle and rolls onto his back. Jungkook squeals, squirming and worms his way up Taehyung’s body until he’s safely tucked under the wolf’s chin. “Could have just told me that you wanted to cuddle.” Jungkook speaks softly into his neck. “Don’t get too spoiled,” The older presses their bodies closer. “I’m only doing this because I have this habit of hugging something to fall asleep.. And you looked lonely.” “You mean you were feeling lonely.” “No. You. Now stop before I spank you.” “I wish.” Jungkook’s sigh is wistful. “YAH! DON’T GET ME WORKED UP AGAIN.” And Taehyung hears Jungkook’s unrestrained laughter for the first time and it's the best sound in the world.    Chapter End Notes AO3 wasn't working on my laptop n I freaked out so BADDDD so now I'm updating from my phone -_- What do y'all say about Wattpad? He immediately scans his surrounding for any possible threats with alert eyes, pulling the younger tighter against his body and Jungkook tugs at his t-shirt’s sleeves and squeaks, jumping in his arms. “Hurts..” “What? Where? Tell me where, I’ll—“ The wolf notices that it’s so sweltering, for a painful second, the wolf is sure he went into rut early. Then he blinks and takes in a deep breath, regretting almost instantly and he grunts softly, sweet scent heightening his senses as smaller hips grid tight circles right over his swollen cock. His hands fly to hold said hips tightly, breath stuttering when his hands brush the soft skin of the younger’s small waist. Taehyung takes in their situation and to him horror, they are both hard and.. wet. He doesn't want to know if it’s sweat or the younger’s slick. Or both. “You’re hard..” Jungkook pants into the wolf’s neck and he gulps, belatedly realizing their position, hips flush together and it’s impossible to ignore the bunny’s bulge pressing against his.  Jungkook continues to rub his hips over Taehyung’s, hot exhales warming up the older’s chest even more and he is seconds away from shamelessly groping his Match. Taehyung flushes wildly with embarrassment from having not experienced this kind of stimulation until now. He doesn't know his own limits and it’s definitely problematic if he reacts aggressively from foreign sensations like these. Not safe. Not safe. But Jungkook doesn't feel as small as he looks. Running his hands down the younger’s curved back and settling them on his plump ass, Taehyung thinks that maybe he’s looking down on Jungkook a little too much, treating him like a child when his body is clearly anything but childlike. The bunny arches in his hold, pushing his hips into the wolf’s hands until his fingers sink into the soft flesh and then Taehyung hears a small moan. “J-Jungkook, what’re y-you doing..” He’s met with silence until a small whine from the bunny reverberates through his chest, hips twitching in his hold and pressing exactly where the wolf hurts the most right now. He groans, head rolling back, vision turning hazy and jaw locking. “God, stop—“ Jungkook pants, face red as he scrambles away, taking the blanket with him and an arm coming up to cover his face. Clothes clinging to their bodies and sweat rolling down their necks, Taehyung feels suffocated on their combined scent, liking it a little too much. He’s still reeling from the sudden loss of friction and he pulls his t-shirt lower to cover the obscene bulge of his pajama pants and rubs a palm over his sweaty face as he falls back onto the handrest of the couch. “I’ll.. I’ll go take a bath— It’s too hot..” Jungkook pants, the discomfort he’s feeling shows on his face clearly. He pinches the satin of his top between his fingers, pulling it away from his skin but it only sticks back on, displaying his toned body to the wolf’s eyes. He lets his eyes trail lower until they land on the damned shorts biting away around the younger’s thighs tightly. The sight is too sinful this early in the morning for him as he squints at Jungkook with swollen eyes. “As if you’re not the reason for this.. “ Taehyung huffs, looking away and completely missing the mild hurt flashing in the bunny’s eyes. Jungkook presses his fists between his legs, looking down. “You.. started it. You’re the one that woke me up with your—“ Jungkook glances at Taehyung’s lap and looks away with furrowed eyebrows. “I.. I’ve been sensitive since the last appointment so unless.. you.. you’ll help me till the end, d-don’t do something like t-that. I can’t control it.” “Sensitive? Sensitive how?” Taehyung had absolutely no clue about the younger’s sensitivity until right this moment and he feels like shit for blaming the bunny.  He doesn't remember humping the boy and it's like one of those times when you careless say a few words without much thought but regret them the whole day. “Why didn't you tell me?” “You were at work.” A slap on his face would have hurt the wolf less. Jungkook’s lips are stiff as he gets off their make shift bed. Taehyung curses his fate for having an upset bunny who doesn't mind walking around in almost nothing until his eyes settle on the cotton fluff of his tail. The wolf blinks, moving closer to get a better look as the younger walks around the couch and towards the stairs. The black fur almost blends with the color of his shorts and Taehyung wants to touch it. Right now. He runs a hand up his own tail, feeling the fur slip through his fingers and feels his tail curl around his wrist with the pleasant sensation. It’s real convenient for the older’s eyes to slip lower and settle on the younger’s ass and there’s no way in hell he’s letting the bunny get away like that. He was still talking when the younger just left like that so leaps over the back of the couch, keeping quiet until he nears the bunny and sweeps him into his arms with a growl. Jungkook screams, arms wrapping around his neck tightly and pressing himself closer to Taehyung. “Who told you that you could leave like that? I’m not done with you.” Taehyung takes the stairs two at a time and walks into their supposed bedroom, decorated to the nines. He eyes the four poster bed, and stops in his tracks when he pictures them together on that, in a few fucking days. “Is this our room?” Jungkook asks and the wolf snaps out of his daze to hum in answer, gaze still lingering on the too fluffy bed and hoping that he won’t break it. But then again, he wouldn’t really be aware of anything else except his mate from his tunnel vision. What a fucked up world.. The wolf thinks as he walks into the bathroom and sets the bunny down. They brush in silence, the younger being nervous and the older, lost in thought. Technically, Taehyung and Jungkook might never be mates if this didn’t work out. He’s not allowed to bite his mark into the bunny until the younger’s test is positive, indicating that he is indeed carrying the wolf’s pups, hence proving their compatibly. It’s possible that they were only meant to be together for a bare minimum of three weeks. Taehyung tears his eyes away from their reflection in the mirror before him and turns on his heel and marches to the shower stall. “I’m gonna take a shower.” The wolf looks at the bunny throwing a bathbomb into the oval bathtub just adjacent to the glass shower stall and he has the answer to his silent question but both of them naked inside a closed space would be a disaster coming too soon. Taehyung wonders if they’d last when they finally came together. They’d explode into a million different pieces, lost in their world of broken people but Taehyung will find every damned piece if it means that they’ll stay together. Still, they won’t be whole. Only chipped pieces put together, weaker than ever. How long does it take to understand a stranger? How long does it take to love a stranger? Taehyung thinks it will take a lifetime to unravel Jungkook and more. He has known the younger since two days and he already can’t imagine a life without him and maybe he’s over reacting but it would honestly be a miracle if both the bunny and their pups would be safe. And Taehyung, having never experienced a miracle, doesn’t believe in them. Taehyung strips to his boxers and steps into the stall and turns on the knob, holding his breath. Cold water freezes his skin the moment it hits him. It starts with the numbing of his head, bangs getting in his eyes. Then, the water streaks down his neck and back like sharp, cruel nails and burning fingertips against his chest and stomach. Liquid fire slides down his legs in rivulets and the wolf shivers violently, ears completely numb and aching. His shoulders curl in weakly before he stubbornly rolls them back, resting his hand on the tiles and hanging his head.  “Fuck...” Taehyung whimpers, cold fabric sticking to his hips and shaky thighs but it’s no use. He’s still hard, the water only making his erection more prominent, boxers clinging to the outline of his cock. A minute turns to five and then to seven, leaving Taehyung’s muscles frozen and aching. He looks over his right shoulder and keeps staring. Jungkook lies in a pool of soft pink water, knees skimming the surface of the but barely peeking out. His head rests on the edge of the huge tub, eyes closed and eyebrows furrowed before he slides lower, disappearing under the water and Taehyung’s eyes widen as his heart picks up its pace and the wolf twists his torso, counting the seconds in his head. Jungkook gasps when he comes up for air and Taehyung hears it despite the curtain of water falling around him. The younger pushes his hair out of the way, swipes his hands over his eyes and blinks the open, hands reaching up to wring the water off his bunny ears. Their eyes meet then and Jungkook freezes, torso exposed and arms above his head. It’s pretty innocent honestly but Taehyung hasn't seen the younger completely shirtless so he just can’t turn his gaze away from sharp collar bones and dusky pink nipples. Jungkook drops his arms and wraps them around his knees, hiding himself again. “You should.. stop with the cold water. It’s doesn't help. Believe me.” Taehyung thanks his good hearing senses as he continues to stare and blindly gropes around to turn off the water.  “And how do you know that?” The wolf tilts his head in question, pushing his hair over his forehead. There’s no point in hiding his problem, he resigns himself. The bunny was practically grinding against his dick just a few minutes ago so the older’s situation can’t scare him away. Mostly. “I’m cold too. N-Not helping.” A flush creeps into his cheeks and Taehyung swallows at the implication. They hold each other’s gaze, torn between craving and denying. The wolf would be lying if he said that it wasn't his most pleasurable moment when he woke up to Jungkook’s needy hips today. The pleasure was so fleeting, so good but so short and he feels like he needs to have more of it before he goes crazy. “What should we do?” “How much of my wolf can you take?” “All of it.” And Jungkook’s back at it, with the determined, stubborn glint in his eyes, desperate to prove himself as a perfect mate and carrier and Taehyung’s wolf snarls at him to show his true face, to give the bunny a taste of what he believes he can take and Taehyung’s stepping out of the shower stall and striding over to the tub. He steps into it, sinking to his knees and there’s water splashing on the floor as Jungkook moves backwards in alarm, ears upright and Taehyung chases his body until he corners his against the curve of the tub. “All of me, huh?” Taehyung slides his knees under the younger and pulls his legs apart forcefully to haul Jungkook into his lap and when the wolf’s hands meet soft skin of his thighs, he slips out of character. "Don't run away now, Baby." “Wa-Wait..” “No, you said you wanted it all.” Gripping Jungkook’s hand, the wolf brings it down to his bulge and pushes himself into the bunny’s hand and Jungkook gasps, palm squirming against his pulsing length before stilling all movements. “Feel this?” Taehyung breathes hard, eyes darting between the younger’s, something unreadable pooling in them. He swallows and the wolf’s takes in the way the soft, thin skin of Jungkook’s throat stretches over his Adam's apple. Jungkook nods shakily and retreats his hand back so the wolf growls, baring his teeth. “Don’t. Remove. Your. Hand.” And the younger’s hand is on him again, only a choked breath giving away the bunny’s emotions. “What does it f-feel like?” Jungkook splays his palm slowly before cupping him slightly and Taehyung groans shamelessly, closing his eyes at the sensation and he just wants both of them skin to skin, touching without any restraints. But touching will escalate to something more and that’s the last thing they want right now. Maybe they could just get off for now. “You’re.. so much bigger than I am.” Jungkook stares at the water as if he could see through the pink tint and watch his hand, sounding awed but when his eyes flicker to Taehyung’s, the warm, dark brown is hesitant. “You—You won’t fi-fit.” Taehyung ignores the last part and the way his body sizzles with need for now and pulls Jungkook’s hips closer to feel him, and Jungkook moans when their members brush against each other. “S-Stop it! It’s… embarrassing!” He hides his face into Taehyung’s shoulder and his heart jumps in delight, face warming along with his stomach. He rubs himself against the younger but clicks his tongue in disappointment when he can’t really tell the proper difference in their size and maybe it’s because he’s oversensitive for staying hard for so long but Jungkook feels big. Fuck it. Taehyung curls his hand around the other’s length over the bunny’s shorts and Jungkook’s cry feels like it’s all in the background. The wolf’s mouth feels dry and overflowing with saliva at the same time because Jungkook is definitely bigger than he expected and he doesn't think that’s normal in rabbits. They were after all, smaller hybrids than the wolves, with smaller frames too. Though he's not as endowed as he is, Taehyung is still impressed. Because here was Jungkook, big enough to fuck someone into heaven, fuck someone good.  “Aren’t you... bigger than average?” Taehyung teases the younger by tightening his grip and the bunny sobs, pressing his chest closer to the wolf’s until there’s no space between their bodies. “Hmm? You’re more than good enough to fuck someone. Ah, too bad you’re a carrier though...” “D-Don’t say that.” Despite his words, Jungkook drives his hips into the wolf’s hold, dragging his lips all over Taehyung’s jaw and pressing his fingers into the wolf’s broad shoulders as if to ground himself. “Please…” When Taehyung tugs at the bunny’s tail without any warning, he arches sharply into his chest with a high pitches ‘ah!’ and the wolf latches his mouth to Jungkook’s chest and sucks dark marks all over it. The younger’s wet fingers push into Taehyung’s hair and he swallows down a moan at the sharp, painful tugs of his roots. Jungkook hikes higher into his lap and grinds once, twice into the wolf’s palm and moans loudly into his neck, hips stilling and Taehyung feels the warm release through the fabric separating their skin. The bunny shudders in his hold and Taehyung’s heart jumps in his chest as he digests what just happened. Jungkook is nibbling at his jaw when he snakes a down his stomach and settles it over the band of Taehyung’s boxers. His hand being shaky, his knuckles bump the head of the wolf’s cock peeking out and Jungkook freezes, stopping his ministrations and gently settling in Taehyung’s lap to look at him. If the older wasn't this turned on and on the edge, he would have blushed a mad red but the skin to skin contact for him is shocking to his core. Jungkook’s eyes are glued to his lips and Taehyung wonders why they didn't kiss yet. But Jungkook’s finger starts circling the sensitive head of his member and Taehyung chokes on a foreign sound, eyes widening for a second from the stimulation. He wants to ask, maybe even beg for more but Jungkook speaks up before he can even open his mouth. “Hyung..” The bunny’s voice is honey and when he touches Taehyung’s cheek, he feels like he’s something fragile, delicate as soft, cold fingertips brush against his skin to curl around his jaw. Taehyung doesn't notice the younger getting closer until he can inhale his minty breath, cold against his wet lips. Taehyung drops his head forward when Jungkook swipes his thumb over his cock and his nose pokes into the bunny’s cheek. Even if they did kiss, Taehyung wouldn't have noticed because the teasing gets out of hand and his hips buck when Jungkook presses his index finger harshly over his slit of his cock. The wolf snaps his eyes open, inhaling sharply at the pressure and keens softly. “Hyung, after your last rut, did you… do anything?” His mind being too mushy, the wolf doesn’t respond and the younger pats his cheek to gain his attention, whining out another ‘hyung’. “No. No, nothing. Didn't sleep with anyone, ever... didn't c-come. Fuck, it hurts…” Jungkook’s eyes glimmer in delight, a wide smile taking over his feature and the wolf is so lost in the younger’s crescent eyes and bunny teeth that he almost forgets that he’s being tortured here. “Then… please don’t… come?”  “What?” Taehyung blinks, pretty sure that he heard wrong. “Don’t come.” If Jungkook knew how much it hurt Taehyung to hold back for this long, he wouldn't say something like that. Or maybe he knew and that was exactly what he wanted. “But… why not? It hurts, Baby.” Taehyung can’t believe himself for entertaining the bunny but this was something so unexpected, something different and thrilling. Exciting. So he plays along, eager to find out how far the younger will go. “Please?” And doe eyes are unleashed. “Only a few days.. Hold back till then… You can come inside me instead, how much ever you want.”   The wolf doesn't think his twenty two year old heart can take the younger’s hidden slutty wishes like these but he swallows back a moan, and crumples the pictures painting themselves in his head. “Please don’t waste it… Keep it in you.” Taehyung could come just from his words if he wanted to but the bunny’s words keep ringing in his head and he can’t get over the fact that the younger boy behaves as if Taehyung’s come was something precious, like something that shouldn't be wasted. He nods before he comprehends his actions. Jungkook’s lips curve in satisfaction and Taehyung’s wolf gladly submits for the first time in his life. . . . If sleeping beside an almost stranger for a night would make life easier, Taehyung would have woken up feeling a little lighter. But sharing some sleeping place for warmth and comfort for the sake of their lonely hearts, doesn't make them the dream couple. The heat is unbearable and it shouldn't be with the air conditioner working its magic but there’s nothing, no coolness that is expected to be there. He cranks his neck and his mouth opens in disbelief when he sees the air conditioner to be powered off. “Jungkook, did you turn off the A/C?” The younger bobs his head from over his cereal and shakes his head, cheeks full. Unable to resist, Taehyung pokes the puffed out cheek and the bunny makes a muffles sound, slapping a hand over his mouth to not spill anything. Taehyung chuckles when Jungkook glares at him, bunny ear flicking in irritation. Will he remember how hot this day was when he watches the tapes of this moment? Will he remember the golden glow of Jungkook’s skin and the shimmer of sweat on their bodies? Taehyung doesn't wish to find out. “It was supposed to be on, wasn’t it? I left it on all night..” Taehyung eyes his surroundings for the remote but gives up after not seeing it anywhere. He blames it on summer, it makes his lazy as fuck. Having woken up before his set alarm, both of them sit around the kitchen island, watching the sunlight slowly filter through their suite and having breakfast. The older doesn't really have to go to work but instead of staying home and making the bunny uncomfortable, he might as well save themselves from their misery. Jungkook is rolling all over the couch when Taehyung comes down the stairs, slipping his dress shirt on. He’s bustling around, keeping an eye on the younger, if at all the bunny decides to be reckless and fall off the couch but luckily, nothing of that sort happens and he continues with his childish ministrations. Taehyung doesn't bother hiding his smile. By the time he’s pulling on his socks, he’s panting from the heat, skin prickling uncomfortably and sweat already collecting on his back. Maybe he should just get a damn centralized air conditioning unit as soon as possible. It would be embarrassing to die of a heat stroke and worse if he fainted. “Baby, I’ll try to be home earlier today. We can make dinner together, yeah?” Jungkook sits up, hair ruffled and clothes out of place and he doesn't understand fashion the kids follow these days. Who the fuck wears denim in summer? Doesn't matter if it had rips or a chunk of cloth torn off near the knees in Jungkook’s case. He wouldn't be caught dead accepting the fact that the simple attire of a white t-shirt and torn jeans made him want to worship the bunny. “Okay.” Jungkook sighs and Taehyung feels bad for leaving him all to himself and going to work like an idiot when he had this sinful person of a Match lazing away at home. “Hey, about your orders, when are they due?” He stalls. “Today, I think.” “Today?” Whipping his phone of his pocket, Taehyung checks his mail and sure enough, they are to be delivered today and hell would break loose if he left the bunny alone to receive the packages looking like he was right now. “I’m staying home then. Safer that way.” “Safer?” Jungkook repeats, a small frown coming between his eyebrows. Taehyung removes his tie and throws his suit blazer on a chair, messing up his hair happily. He falls into a love seat, sliding lower until he’s more than comfortable. “I’m always safe… Hyung, I know how to receive mail, alright?” “It’s not you, Jungkook. It’s them.” Taehyung sends a quick mail to his secretary informing of his absence and he’s sure that by now, the whole company must be aware of his arrangement with the bunny, all credits to his parents. “No. It’s not like that! I’m not stupid. I can take care of myself.” If Jungkook had just accepted Taehyung’s presence, his wolf wouldn’t have bothered but this downright rejection raises blaring alarms in his head. Why would the bunny even want to be alone? That too, considering this was his first time living in the city. Shouldn’t he be wary of strangers and other predators coming to their doorstep? Though their neighborhood was pretty safe, one could never tell how the minds of fucked up people worked these days. The bunny almost looks panicked now. “You sh-should go back to work.” The tiny stutter gives him away and Taehyung narrows his eyes. “Why do want to be alone that bad?” The wolf doesn't want to go into dangerous territory but their relationship being really fragile, he’s flooded with insecurities. “Expecting someone?” “No. It’s not that.” Jungkook clicks his tongue, frustrated, face turning distraught for a moment before giving up. “Nevermind.. You’ll find out soon.” Taehyung’s mind runs a million miles a minute, darting from one possibility to another, unable to ponder on any one doubt for too long. “Tell me now.” “No, wait for a while.” “Jungkook, you’re testing me right now. Just tell me what the fuck is going on.” “Oh my god, nothing’s happening! You wanted to stay home so stay. I don’t mind.” “Oh really? A moment ago, you clearly wanted me gone. What were you planning to do in my absence?” “Why are you so angry? I told you it’s nothing.” The uncomfortable silence lasts for exactly a minute before Taehyung loses it. “You know you’re mine, right? And you can’t do shit behind my back and expect me to be fucking okay with it.” This time, Taehyung sees the melancholy creep into Jungkook’s eyes like some disease. “Shit like what?” “Like prancing around with clothes like that in front of strangers. Things will escalate quickly. Even if you don’t want it.. they wouldn’t understand.” “And what can you do about that?” “I-I can protect you. Why are you acting as if you don’t know that?” Incredulity paints Taehyung’s tone as he eyes the younger boy who seemed to brood over something. “You think.. You think, I’d cheat on you?” Having straightened out Taehyung’s riddle and double meaning words from earlier, it sounds painful to the ears. That was exactly what the wolf meant when he uttered his line but before he can beat himself down, Jungkook's expression completely changes, turning giddy. "So you care." The bunny shifts before standing up and walking up to Taehyung, sitting beside his spread legs and the wolf stares at him with wide eyes, completely thrown off his axis. When he went off on the younger he expected tears and a few curses at least but instead, he has a happy bunny stuck to him. Taehyung can’t take this whiplash. “Ahh... I didn't think you’d get possessive over me, hyungie.” Jungkook licks his lips, nose scrunching as he reaches up to pinch Taehyung’s cheeks and his wolf is shocked dumb as well, so Taehyung takes the matter into his own hands, as the younger boy gets cozy against him but ends up spluttering and flushing. “Didn’t think you liked me enough.” “Y-Yah, what’s this?” Jungkook completely disregards the wolf’s words, his pretty smile stretching his face enchantingly and Taehyung feels stupid for growing this powerless just from a damn smile. “You’re not.. mad? Angry?” “No. It’s annoying but my alpha was just worried, wasn’t he?” The younger coos and Taehyung wants to disappear. What the hell? He was supposed to confront the boy but here he was, getting coddled by the bunny. “Feels nice. You must like me, then.” “I don’t want anyone else. Can’t even imagine it. You’re so good to me.” And when Jungkook is stroking his chest like this, the wolf turns into a puddle of goo, insides warming up against his will. “But… do you really doubt me?” “No, no.” Taehyung launches into his explanation. “I don’t trust others - anyone around you. You’re just so… tempting, bunny. So innocent and pure, nobody would hesitate to place their filthy hands on you. And I wouldn't let that happen even over my dead body.” “Only mine.” The wolf wraps his arms around the bunny’s waist, squeezing tight. “And I absolutely hate it when someone tries to go at what’s mine. I like you enough to go through this torture that you put me under. I listened to you this morning, didn’t I? Didn’t come like you asked me not to—“ “Oh my god, stop it!” And Jungkook hides his face again, squeaking in embarrassment. . . . Jungkook smacks his legs together, sitting on the desk with the laptop before him and the sound of his thighs hitting each other is not obscene until the wolf speaks up. He’s busy watching anime, growing restless as a filler scene continues to play on. “Can you stop that? It sounds like.. like,“ Taehyung stops, throwing his book aside and Jungkook slowly turns to looks at the older just in time to see him pinch the bridge of his nose. The sound of skin hitting skin has the wolf’s mind running wild and he ended up reading the same paragraph repeatedly. “Oh.” Jungkook whispers, pressing his lips together and promptly closes the laptop, sliding out of his seat and coming to sit in front of the wolf on the floor. He hesitates a little before speaking. “Do I.. annoy you a lot?” Taehyung eyes the bunny sitting a few feet away from him and he’s tempted to go beside him, take him into his lap maybe, slide his hands down the boy’s legs and over skin peeking through the rips in his jeans and maybe squeeze those thick thighs of his, see how soft they are and might as well as rut against that soft ass—“Hyung.” “Hyung!” Jungkook is frowning at him, pouting as he follows the older’s line of sight and he doesn’t seem to find anything interesting that Taehyung could possibly stare at in his lap. “Why don’t you say anything… We rarely get time to talk, and you’re home today. But still..” Jungkook trails off and Taehyung clears his throat, straightens himself, pulls at the collar of his dress shirt and clears his throat. “Sorry, bunny. I was thinking about something..” The ding of a message enables Taehyung to kill his sentence half way and he gladly pats around for his phone and opens the new message. “Looks like your packages are out for delivery. They left a few hours ago, I guess. What did you order anyway? I didn’t see my messages yesterday.” And in an instant, he has a lapful of bunny and a missing phone so when Taehyung is blinking at his empty hand, he hears a nervous chuckle. “Did you just snatch my phone?” “Well..” Jungkook’s ears fall to his shoulders and the wolf thinks that he should just forget everything and just touch the bunny ears before his curiosity kills him. “Can I touch your ears?” He blurts out, holding Jungkook’s surprised gaze. The bunny grabs the tip of his ear and pulls it over his shoulder as if offering it to the wolf and nods, looking away suddenly shy. Taehyung leans back into the couch properly, pulls Jungkook completely into his lap and he’s reminded of their activities a while back, early in the morning. He pushes those thoughts out of the way and slowly reaches out to touch the fur. Though he has pathetically poked the fur last night, he actually feels the soft ear in his palm this time and he’s surprised to feel how velvety their texture is, feeling so soft and fragile in his hold. He slides his hand into the boy’s hair and loosely wraps his fingers around the base of his ear. He doesn’t know what came over him but in the next instant he feels mean, and he’s tugging at the bunny’s ear almost roughly and Jungkook’s head jerks, tilting to the side as a mewl slips past his lips. Grabbing the wolf’s wrist, he looks at him with slight feat shining in his eyes. To Taehyung’s horror, a bolt of heat pierces his stomach and he lets go of his grip, apologetically running a hand down the younger’s limp ear. “Sorry, Baby. Hurt you, didn’t I?” As he plants a firm kiss on the younger’s pillow soft cheeks, Taehyung breathes him in, scent too sweet and tempting as usual. He wants to do it again, fist both of the bunny’s ears this time to hold him in place as he has his way with him. Somewhere along this morning, Taehyung had given up on suppressing his thoughts. He might as well see how beastly he can really get. “A little.. ‘m jus’ s-sensitive but-but, felt, felt… good.” Painslut. Taehyung wants to spit out the word sitting on his tongue but he has to just wait for a few days and he can let go of all control. “Do you like touching be like—like, this?” “Makes me a monster if I do, Baby? A big, bad wolf?” It could be a trick of the light but Jungkook’s pupils look to be blown wide as he moves close to the older, eyes fixed on his lips. “You didn’t see anything, yet.” If Jungkook wasn’t wearing his collar, Taehyung’s teeth would have ripped past his skin, marking him as his and it shocks the wolf to his senses when his teeth painfully clank against the black metal and his wolf growls in displeasure, though relishing in Jungkook’s muffled noise even as he pulls his lips away from abused skin. Panicking, he runs his fingers over red blotches, scared to find any punctures, sighing in relief when discovering smooth skin. “So? What did you order? You didn’t tell me.” “You distracted me!” Taehyung laughs, nuzzling his nose against Jungkook’s jaw as a silent apology and prompts. “Clothes? Jewelry? Shoes?” “Yes.” “Yes to what? I asked many questions, Jungkook.” “L-Lingerie and.. a phone.” “Good. Do I get a fashion show? I want to see you in them.” Taehyung splays his palm on the younger’s chest, ignoring his adorable squeak, dragging his hand up and down before settling on slowly circling the younger’s nipple with his finger and watching it pebble under his touch with controlled breathing. “That’s it? I’m sure there were three orders. Should I just check my messages since you’re not telling me?” “Not-Not fair,” Sinking his fingers into Taehyung’s wrist, Jungkook doesn't push it away, just holds it on place. He seems to be doing that a lot, especially when the wolf does something that he likes. “It’s personal.” “Personal?” Taehyung chuckles, eyebrow arching as he grips Jungkook’s chin to make him meet his eyes. “I’m going to mate you soon, Jungkook. I’m going to fuck you through your heat, make pups. I don’t think there will be anything ‘personal’ left when I strip you of everything.” When Jungkook stays silent, turning his head away in shame, the wolf’s temper almost snaps. The bunny seemed to know exactly what buttons to push for Taehyung to bring out his monster. “I hate it when things are kept from me, bunny. Tell me.” With a hand around the boy’s neck, he jerks him closer. “Sex toy.” Jungkook’s voice is so soft, it’s barely audible. “…Is it now?” If the bunny was looking at the older, he would have caught on with how ‘shook’ the wolf was. “Which one did you order?” Taehyung’s shock slowly dissolves into doubt then arousal and… something else. “Do you even know what you bought?” Jungkook’s look speaks of disbelief and he looks mildly offended but he finally utters with red cheeks. “ Of course, I know. Not hard to guess when I saw it.” The wolf doesn’t have the patience to go through his knowledge of sex toys and guess one after the other what the toy could possibly be so he just grits his teeth and doesn’t stop the words he wanted to let out since the younger’s revelation. The sound of their doorbell cuts him off and Taehyung’s eye twitches in irritation all the way down the stairs as he stalks to the door with the bunny trotting along behind him and throws the door open with a scowl. The delivery man jumps, bowing and hesitatingly muttering. “Good Morning. A delivery for Kim Taehyung-shi..” “Yeah. Gimme that.” Jungkook peers from around the wolf and the man’s eyes dart to him, widening in surprise. The bunny receives the packages and bounds behind Taehyung again. “Is he your son? He’s cu—“ Taehyung signs the paper, pen tearing the page from his force and slams it to the man’s chest. “Do I fucking look like I gave birth to him, you dumbass? That’s my mate you’re making googly eyes at!” Taehyung roars, drowning Jungkook’s giggle. “Now leave before I claw your eyes out.” Taehyung slams the door on the man’s ashen face and watches the bunny run over to their coffee table to set the boxes on it, excitement making his features look younger than he already was. The wolf is blinded by the amount of colorful lace and satin that spills out of the biggest box and are those ribbons he sees? Huh. Next comes the phone and the bunny settles on the couch, already immersed in the good. Slowly, Taehyung inches closer to the third box and snatches it away from beside the bunny. Jungkook snaps his gaze up at the sudden action and his eyes widen in understanding. “Hyung—“ The wolf rips away the packaging and almost throws the box away. “A dildo?!” Taehyung literally screams, looking at the thing in the package as if it was the most insulting thing he ever came across and Jungkook flinches. “Why do you need a silicon dick anyway?” He spits out, angry beyond reason and jealous. He doesn’t want that thing anywhere near his future mate and there’s no fucking way a goddamn ‘toy’ would get to be inside the bunny before he could be. “Can’t wait a few days for me? You know, when you do stuff like this, it makes me want to eat you up.. tear you apart and stuff you back up with my knot.” For less than a second, Jungkook looks like this was exactly what he wanted to hear but his eyes shift, expression almost cocky. “But you won’t, hyung. You’re too scared to even touch me properly when I’m offering myself to you. So if you won’t do anything with me, I won’t bother you anymore. I have that now.” He nods towards the toy and Taehyung must be imagining the hint of sadness in his tone. “Oh, that won’t be happening. You will wait until your heat to get satisfied. Why are you so hell bent on provoking me like this all the time?” “I’m not sure you’ll have me even after my heat hits.” Taehyung wants to look away from the younger’s intense gaze but he can’t bring himself to. This is his chance. The bunny had unknowingly given him a way out and before his wolf has the time to make any appearance, he speaks up. All human. “You’re right.” He drops the box he’s holding, spilling out all the things he knows will distance the bunny from him. This could actually work, Taehyung knowing exactly how delicate the bunny’s emotions are, gives him an advantage over him. Funny how he loses his morals while telling himself to be human. “I was lying. I wasn’t going to take you during your heat.” Taehyung watches the drastic change in the younger’s expression, the strong mask crumbling to reveal shocked eyes and a whitening face. “You’re too small for me, young too. I can’t bring myself to defile someone like you. Maybe you’d be better off with other Match.” No, you fucking imbecile, stop this nonsense! You want him as your mate, stop lying!Taehyung’s head pounds painfully, dots dancing in his vision. "I was trying to tell you from the start, Jungkook. But you wouldn't listen.. always pushing me to the edge." “W-What? But you s-s-said..” Tear filled eyes and quivering lips, the bunny is the epitome of sadness. “I lied. Wanted to know.. what you felt like.” His speech almost falters, throat slowly getting blocked with a painful lump. “You won’t be able to handle my strength. I need someone stronger, less fragile. Better if we apply for a rematch.” “Rematch?” If agony and fear could be put into a single word, then it was scraping Jungkook’s mouth raw as it leaves him. “Wh-What’s t-that?” Taehyung’s heart squeezes painfully when he realizes that the younger doesn’t know what it means. “It’s giving out a statement to the officials that we don’t wish to mate and request for changing partners. It's generally not considered but I know just how much compensation to give to make it happen.” “You don’t want me.” Jungkook doesn't stop the big, fat tears streaming down his face uncontrollably. “But you were.. fine with this, with me until before. Is it because of the orders? I’m so sorry, I won’t ever do something like this—“ “No. It’s not that. We’re not meant to be. Those results are fucked up and further drugging you to tempt me more..” Jungkook winces, frame curling into something smaller and finally letting out a sob. Taehyung prays that Jungkook won't agree to this. “N-No, no, no.. Don’t s-send me away, please. I don’t want to g-go thr’ t-that ag-again. Why are you d-doing this? You can d-do whatever you wa-want with m- me, so why.. Just.. just have me, l-let me stay, pl-please. I like you.” “I-I like you s-so much, A-Alpha. Please ke-keep me. I’m—I’m s-scared, can’t- can’t go to someone e-else.” Taehyung turns away, the knot in his throat big enough to suffocate him and desperately tries to breathe in through his mouth, teeth clamped to control the urge to comfort and assure the bunny that he was all Taehyung could want, how he can’t really bare to think of living without him but this should help, shouldn't it? He wants to give the boy a chance to leave if he wants to. At least Jungkook would back off and not provoke him anymore and he won’t end up hurting him. His messed up logic stops making sense, brain stopping in its track as he feels small, thin arms come around his middle as Jungkook’s body presses up behind him, crying into his shirt and Taehyung clamps a hand to his mouth to stop a whimper from escaping. “Ple-Please, Alpha. I’ll w-wait, w-won’t annoy you, let you use me du-during your rut, please. Please, I c-can take it. I w-won’t ask you to anything e- else, just-just g-give me pups, that’s it. You d-don’t have to touch me more, want no-nothing else, please don’t cancel t-this—“ Unable to bear the painfully pitiful words, Taehyung’s stomach churns in the all too familiar way and dread settles in his stomach as he realizes that he’s too late, too much in deep to let go. But at least for the bunny’s sake, he’ll pretend even if it kills him. He gently unwraps the younger’s arms from around him and goes to the couch to collect his jacket. “I won’t.” How can I ever? How could Taehyung ever ask for forgiveness for lying about such a fragile issue, turning the younger vulnerable. “I’m going on a business trip. I’ll try to be back before your heat. We’ll see if we can postpone it to later.”   Jungkook wants to say that it’s not a business meeting that can be pulled and shoved on the wolf’s schedule and set it on a convenient date. It’s his body, turning fertile and changing to accommodate a litter of pups. It's him, as a person, going through foreign changes and occasional discomfort so that he can provide Taehyung with what he, as a predator needs but the Alpha doesn't seem to want him at all.  What can Jungkook say when the wolf tells him that he doesn't want to stay with him and escapes to a business meeting? Jungkook can’t believe what’s going on, they were totally fine all morning and he's unfortunately, already attached to the wolf but now.. If Taehyung knew even a little about mental instability, maybe he wouldn't have said anything at all, or at least wouldn't have left. But like all mistakes, this one is made without any thought as to how much damage it can inflict. “Please c-come back soon.” Taehyung bites his lip, not wanting to lie again. “I’ll be back in a few day. Please take care of yourself.” The younger’s sobs have not gone down and Taehyung feels like he need to say something more to assure Jungkook but he doesn't unsaid words charring his tongue. He’s not sure the younger heard him through the sound of his sobs but Taehyung slips into his shoes and without looking back, leaves. He sets a pass code to their enter their floor and informs the security. His fingers fly over his phone and he taps on the contact, body aching with every step, as he distances himself from Jungkook. “Hello, Mr. Kim. How can I help you?” His secretary sounds surprised to get a call from him, having heard the news about his Match getting fixed. “Is it possible to prepone the oversea meeting? I want it to be scheduled for tomorrow.” Taehyung walks get into the elevator with watery vision, the bunny’s crying ringing in his ears. . . . Saturday, two days to go. Taehyung doesn’t look like himself as he slumps against the metal wall of the elevator. His head spins, stomach growling in hunger and throat dried beyond belief. Dark circles line his eyes, cheeks sunken in and face pale and sick looking. He doesn't remember the last time he slept, ate or drank anything, thoughts always poisoned with the bunny. He couldn’t take it anymore and accepted defeat with open arms, more than ready to beg the bunny on his knees, asking for forgiveness, willing to go as far as to kiss his feet if necessary. He ignore his distressed, howling wolf as long as he could until he broke down. The weak wolf drags himself to their suite, the floor swaying under his feet and to his surprise, the door opens when he rests his clammy palm over the wood. He snaps his head up, heart beat loud in his ears as he trips over his feet in his hurry to get inside. The door should not be open, considering that Taehyung never told Jungkook when he would actually come back. It doesn’t matter that a passcode has been set to their floor because that doesn’t mean the door should be fucking left open. “Jungkook?” He rasps out, clearing his throat to call out louder but his voice gets stuck in mouth because the apartment is a mess. There's a half eaten plate of food on their kitchen island, lights on even during the day, Jungkook’s medication strewn over their coffee table, pills on the wood and their carpet, his blanket wrinkled on the couch and the laptop pushed aside, his new phone on the floor.  “Baby?” Taehyung’s voice echoes through their eerily calm apartment, as if time was frozen since Jungkook disappeared. Only terrifying silence remains.     Chapter End Notes The madness starts here. Of course, your thoughts really matter a lot to me, more than you can think. See the end of the chapter for more notes   Tuesday, six days to go. Afternoon bleeds into midnight when Jungkook comes back into his senses. More like, he’s yanked into reality with his stomach cramped up with hunger pangs and sweat drenched body. He slowly uncurls himself from his seat on their fluffy carpet, still surrounded by sheer clothing and hastily opened boxes. He winces as he stretches his legs, hearing a pop when his knees finally straighten after being folded into a ball for such a long stretch of time. His head aches, a dull throb that he doesn’t know will spread into a pounding pain. Getting up on shaky knees, the bunny slowly makes his way to the bathroom, pins and needles coming to life in his legs. He walks to the shower stall and strips, pausing when he sees Taehyung’s discarded grey t-shirt from the morning and picks it up, pulling it over his head. He has to steady himself with a hand on the glass stall when the strong scent of the wolf surrounds him and he coughs out, throat dry and aching with the stubborn lump still lodged in. Half way through the shower, his hiccups start when his eyes begin to sting again as fear floods him like a weak damn holding back water for too long. This was exactly what he had been afraid of, what his parents indirectly warned him about, being unable to captivate his Match enough to make his stay. As if it would always be his fault – how can anyone blame him? They were all matches made on money convenience and DNA, not love or attraction. He would feel like dying if his parents found out about this and the bunny shivers under the lukewarm water falling over him like rain. Where does he go? Who does he tell that it’s not his fault! He didn’t do anything except order that stupid toy which made the wolf snap—No, he himself made the wolf snap, Jungkook realizes, squeezing his hands into fists. He had unknowingly spoken the truth, the wolf’s hidden intention but… but the bunny doesn’t understand. The wolf had been so nice to him, though mostly blunt and rough, he was really gentle and caring about Jungkook’s wellbeing, though unsettlingly concerned. Jungkook knows that the wolf thinks he doesn’t know what he’s asking for and honestly, maybe he doesn’t. But ever since his last appointment, he could feel the changes in his body and hormones, his thoughts. After reading that article about mating yesterday and watching that video, he wanted all those things. So what if he’s got a small frame? The doctors were making him better, weren’t they? Helping him carry the pups better, making him a better carrier. And that’s what he is, a carrier – the only factor of his that let him meet the wolf, become his Match, a potential mate. What if he just wanted pups for the only reason to give them the love that he couldn’t get? He’d sound so stupid if he asked this out loud.  If feelings were – Jungkook thinks they are – an incurable illness, Jungkook would have been six feet under days ago. He has always been this sensitive in general, getting attached quickly, trusting too easily, opening himself up to others until he realizes that it’s too late and no, retreat! Close your heart back up, quick, this was a trap, they never cared and never will, you don’t mean anything to them— If memories were something that got lost in time or at least in his head – Jungkook knows they don’t, mostly – he could have been happier. He’s still very grateful that he doesn’t remember much of his childhood and hopes that he won’t remember what all he’s going through right now. The large t-shirt clings to his frame like a wet, second layer of skin and he can see his usually flat stomach to be very slightly bloated. It’s not barely noticeable to himself but when he pushes his fingers against the swell, he jolts, the sudden pain making him gasp. His generally soft stomach is stiff and hard as if his insides were swollen. They probably are. Jungkook forgot to take his prescribed pills. Swallowing against a jumpy throat, he turns off the water and steps out of the stall and reaches for a towel, drying his hair and running the towel over the wet t-shirt to get rid of the water dripping from the fabric. Still, tiny droplets form small puddles the longer he stands in a place and leave a trail behind him wherever he goes. Too thin and weak, is what Jungkook feels when he starts cooking for himself, the soft glow of the kitchen light feeling too bright and that must exactly be the reason why he tears up again, not even able to bring himself to hate the wolf for leaving. When fear and worry are busy eating up your brain, anger can’t survive the gore. Jungkook knows he’s completely in blind right now. He doesn’t know when the wolf will come back or if he will even come back. No, he doesn’t need to think like this. At least their parents will force them together again, right? He doesn’t think the wolf is in any position to go against his parents. But you never know… Jungkook wouldn’t have hated how vulnerable he has become if Taehyung was still here because then, Jungkook would not have noticed it at all. Jungkook eats until he can’t eat anymore, until one more bite would make him puke. Sluggishly, stomach almost painfully tight, he moves to the loft, the two empty couches haunting him with the absence of his Match. He takes his hormonal pills on the way, popping a few in his mouth, lacking the energy to search for his prescription and washes them down with water. Two hours later, after jerking in and out of sleep, after drenching the pillow with his tears, the nausea hits him and he rushes to the bathroom, throwing up all the food he managed to push down his throat. “No, no, n-no!” Coughing, he stands up and flushes the contents of his stomach and Jungkook knows something is alarmingly wrong with him when black dots start taking over his vision and he can feel his heartbeat on his tongue. There are a few feet left until he reaches the loft, when he loses consciousness and drops to the ground like a sack of stones. The last thing he hears is the dull thunk of his head hitting the wooden floorboards. And peace from the pain. . . . Wednesday, five days to go. “Namjoon, I swear to god, I’ve lost count of how many damn plates you’ve broken ‘til now. How even-Just, how do you—?” Seokjin presses his lips together to take hold of his expression, watching his mate and youngling. Namjoon rubs the nape of his neck, smiling sheepishly and dimples coming out to play before he composes himself and pretends to cower over in fear, curling his frame over their youngest cub sitting in his lap, making the tiny lion giggle at his father’s antics. “Ahh.. Eomma is scary, isn’t he? Please protect your weak, old Appa, Heonwoo- ah!” The three year old cub erupts into another fit of giggles, squirming in the lion’s lap when he starts ticking the cub. “You’re only twenty four, Namjoon.” Seokjin narrows his eyes at him because if the lion was considered old, then what was he? “Now how exactly did we have another broken plate?” The bunny stands up, clearing their plates from the table and the lion, in his haste to help the older and keep hold on his cub at the same time, stands quickly, hitting his knee on something when there was nothing but air under the table. Seokjin throws a concerned look over his shoulder because as funny as it has been in the beginning, it’s a constant worry for the bunny these days. Namjoon laughs it off and finally sets down the squirming pup who disappears almost instantly, shouting out his twin’s name. The lion bumps the older to the side with his hip and takes his place before the sink, washing the few dishes used for their breakfast. Seokjin stands glued to his mate, not bothering to move aside even as a few water droplets spray on to him, from his mate’s ministrations, hands always struggling to keep up with his too fast brain. The older studies his husband’s profile for a few seconds before curling a hand around his jaw to turn his face towards him and presses their lips together, the kiss slowly intensifying. He hears a clatter to his right and he sobs for another possibly ruined expensive china piece for a second before he feels big hands gripping his waist and wetness seeping through his thin shirt. He hopes Namjoon’s hands are not soapy. Just when things are getting heated, Namjoon slipping his palm under the older’s shirt and splaying his cold hand on his back to slowly bring it around and trace his ribs, Seokjin shivers, hearing the ruckus being made by his lovely cubs which can also be translated into – territorial fights. Not again… Seokjin pushes at the lion’s chest before he starts feeling things because these days, it’s getting harder to control their hormones after having them in huge doses for the past few years. Maybe the carriers’ bodies are changed for life, after all. But the prey are addicted too. “Joonie, I know you can’t resist me and before I climb you, how about you go keep the cubs back in their place?” He manages after finally pulling his wildly pulsating lips from his mate, thumbing at his bite mark. Namjoon manages something like a grunt, pulling the bunny closer with a fistful of his pajama shirt. “How can you look so hot in-in, what are these even?” Namjoon studies the pattern of his pajamas with squinted, judging eyes, pupils flared. “…superhero pajamas?” There’s no silence, only snarls rising in volume. “Namjoon, that sounds wilder than usual—I think they might hurt themselves-“ Namjoon stills, tilting his head to the side, furry ears twitching atop his head and Seokjin’s worried stared is glued to them, internally freaking out on how cute they are- Wait. Cubs first. And soon, Namjoon growls loudly, almost an animalistic roar that feels like a kick to Seokjin’s heart as the younger turns on his heel to stalk into the living room. When the bunny follows his mate a moment later, he’s as heartbroken as he always gets during episodes like these. The cubs are divided into two groups, the triplets off to one side and the twins to the other, older versus younger, lips and ears pulled back, growling at each other without any sense of their surroundings, their bond, their blood relation. Seokjin does what he has to, to remain calm and perceives the situation as an outsider, a third person and watches Namjoon step between the two groups to push them apart, snarling to indicate that this was his territory they were still living in and Seokjin thinks that it’s probably the older cubs who started this first because he remembers the triplets not wanting to claim their territory until they were four, which was now, feeling uneasy with two three year old cubs running all around. “I told you not to behave like animals! What’s with this rough antics? This is not how you deal with conflicts, you cubs need to stop getting so physical about everything and-“ Namjoon’s voice though calm, suddenly takes a firmer tone, demanding obedience. “And, did you ever think how Eomma might feel during times like these? When you behave so wild – snarling and growling like this. Please understand that this might be very uncomfortable for him, he was really distressed when he heard you fighting here.” The oldest flinch, having taught to be sensitive to other people’s base animals and behave according to that and not just prowl around inconsiderate to the others’ feelings. The older completely zones out and he’s pulled back to the present when two small bodies collide with his legs, almost pushing him off balance. “Careful with Eomma.” Namjoon frowns, eyeing the twins who look at Seokjin with their big watery eyes and the bunny’s legs give out. He sits on the floor and before his ass can even touch the floor, the cubs are clambering into his lap, sniffles getting louder and louder as they stare at their Eomma with trembling lips. “Hyungies were mean!” “They wouldn’t let us playyyyy, Eomma!” “Yah.. I told you cubs so many times...” He sighs, looking at the older set of cubs, sadness surprisingly tangible in the air around him and the vigorous swishing of lion tails slow down until they’re curled around their legs in shame. “Eomma doesn’t like it when you all fight. You’re all brothers, and this is our home. Please stop fighting over it. You’re getting bigger and older... I don’t want to see anyone of you lash against each other. You’ll only get hurt and I don’t want that.” Seokjin would have laughed at the picture if anybody had taken one of the seven of them, six lions huddled close to a bunny and five cubs hanging their head in shame. “I never fought with my younger brother, you know. Kookie was really mischievous, just like you all but he was still my baby brother and I was his hyung so I liked taking care of him even when he irritated me.” “But... But, you were a bunny hyung, Eomma. These hyungs are lions, so they’re really mean—“ “Base animals or classes don’t matter.” The eldest snaps, scowling at the youngest and looks at his Appa for approval. Namjoon looks surprised, nodding as if in through and ruffling the cub’s hair who smiles, all dimples. “Okay..” “And that hyung never visits us! You said so much about Kookie hyung but we never met him. Ask him to come visit us, Eomma!” Topic clearly diverting, Seokjin lets go of their previous discussing, falling into the newer, lighter one. “Appa, didn’t you say he was marrying TaeTae hyung?” That one question from the second triplet results in chaos. “Marriage?” “Waa~ Really? That’s so cool!” “Are we invited? I wanna go~” “Of course we are, Heonie.. We’re TaeTae hyung’s bestfriends.” An eye roll. “But what ‘bout Kookie hyung? He needs to be our friend too!” Five pairs of eyes turn to look at Seokjin and he looks at Namjoon with wide eyes. The lion sighs, patting his pockets for his phone, a smile twitching on his lips. “I’ll call up Taehyungie.” The ruckus taking place right now is the one that Seokjin wants, all laughs and smiles, Namjoon almost tripping over their running cubs and Seokjin sits happily in the middle of his paradise.   …   “His phone is switched off.” Namjoon grits his teeth in annoyance after having called the wolf for the tenth time. He watches his mate’s broad shoulders stiffen with worry as he paces in front of the lion who’s seated on the couch. “He doesn’t have any meetings, does he?” “No. He’s not supposed to be working. Mating leave… and even if he was, he never turns off his phone.” Namjoon mumbles the last part but Seokjin catches it, stops his pacing and comes to stand before his mate. “If that little shit is banging my brother already, he’s so dead—“ Namjoon shakes his head, something not quite adding up in his mind about this entire situation. He knows they should not have left the younger couple alone but the pair were stubborn to their bones. “Didn’t Taehyung give us his landline number?” Seokjin’s already tapping on his phone and brings it to his ear. He clicks his tongue, face scrunching up in worry when no one picks up. “I guess they’re… out? Nobody lifted.” “Something’s wrong.” Namjoon calls the security of Taehyung’s apartment, totally not expecting what he hears. “Hello?” “Kim Namjoon-shi. Good morning, how can we help you today?” He’s actually surprised that the security recognize his voice and Seokjin once said that they probably would remember the owner of the building unless they wanted their jobs gone. Namjoon straightens up, clearing his throat. “Yes, good morning. Can you tell me if Taehyung-shi is home? Kim Taehyung, penthouse suite.” There’s silence on the other line and Namjoon can feel the hesitation. He’s impressed with their reluctance to share information but he has a feeling that Taehyung isn’t where he should be right now. “He’s family. I wanted to visit him so I need to know if he’s available.” “Of course. Apologies, Namjoon-shi. Taehyung-shi left the complex sometime around 10 P.M. last night.” Namjoon suppresses his roar. “Left? At 10 P.M.? So nobody’s home?” Seokjin sits beside him, fingers gripping his knee. “He left alone, sir. Taehyung-shi didn’t tell why.” “Thank you, please expect us in an hour.” Namjoon cuts the call and meets Seokjin’s worried gaze. “Jungkook’s alone.” “Let’s go meet him then. He must be so bored.” Seokjin sighs again, turning his gaze away a second too late any Namjoon catches the sadness flashing in them. The lion doesn’t catch the sadness turning into anger. Turns out, prying the security code from the security is a little difficult but Seokjin’s no bullshit glare and Namjoon’s assurance turns them wary, so right now, the bunny is tapping his foot against the lift’s carpet, angry. “Brats. Made us wait for ten minutes.” He punches the code and if he were Namjoon, the elevator would have malfunctioned by now, buttons broken or something. “Jungkookie doesn’t cook when he’s lazy. He’s gonna get an ass whooping if he didn’t eat yet.” The lion follows his angry mate, a fond smile on his lips as he takes the Tupperware containers from the bunny to free his hands, letting him ring the bell. They wait for five minutes. “Is he still sleeping?” Seokjin shifts on his feet, cocking his hip to the side and looking at Namjoon who rings the bell longer this time. “As much of a heavy sleeper he is, he’s not freaking deaf.” Namjoon’s heart dips in his chest as he pushes the spare key into the keyhole and unlocks the apartment. “Jungkook?” Seokjin calls out, stepping inside and surveying the surroundings. Namjoon places the food containers on a nearby tables as the older disappears into a hallway. The bunny doesn’t find his brother anywhere and when he comes back into the living room, Namjoon is staring at the mess in the sitting area. Seokjin takes in the silk and ripped open boxes and is that a fucking sex toy?! “I don’t even want to know..” Namjoon rubs his temples, turning away and walking to the kitchen. “I’ll check upstairs.” And then Seokjin would freeze on the last step, eyes landing on Jungkook’s unconscious form but throat stuck with a scream before he tumbles forward, sliding onto his knees beside the younger bunny because he just knows that Jungkook isn’t sleeping. “Jungkook! Jungkookie!” He turns his brother onto his back and the weak roll of his head and clammy skin finally pushes the scream out of his lungs. “Namjoon! Please come here! Jungkook-Jungkook is—“ He doesn’t hear the heavy footsteps, only feels the heat of his mate coming up behind him and only when Namjoon has his phone out, calling for a doctor is when he finally allows himself to cry. Seokjin doesn’t want to know how long Jungkook has been like this, doesn’t want to know what would have happened if they didn’t come visit. . . . When Jungkook next opens his eyes, the first thing he feels in a painful hollowness that he can’t see to find a cause of until he sees Seokjin crying and all the events rush back to him. He’s so tired to feel tears sliding down the slides of his face again that he doesn’t bother to stop them, because he knows they won’t. “Hyung.” “Still hurts?” The older sniffs and they younger breathes in confusion before he takes in their surroundings. He’s in their spare bedroom and sits slowly, sighing in relief to find no IV dripping into him. But then he stretches his elbow and there are needle marks. At least the pain was gone. He runs a hand over his stomach and to his horror, it’s still a little bloated and stiff. “Hyung. W-What’s happening—to me?” Seokjin hugs him first, jaw stiff as it digs into Jungkook’s temple. He lifts his arms too, bracketing the older’s waist. “Overdose. Inflammation due to hormonal changes. The doctor says it’s normal for you—for your frame. You’re fine now… but you were out for hours. Hyung won’t let anyone hurt you anymore.” Jungkook knows what that means and heart sinking, he still asks. “Where-Where’s hyung? T-Taehyung?” Seokjin pulls away, the hard set of his face making Jungkook extremely uneasy. “He’s still all you care about?” The older bunny leans to his side to pass Jungkook the glass of water which he gladly drowns, wiping a few stray drops streaming down his chin. “He left, Jungkook. What does he think of himself, that asshole—He wasn’t like this… God knows what’s gotten into him now.” So Jungkook brought out this side of Taehyung? “Oh… He’s not back.” “Like hell he’ll be. There’s no fucking way I’m letting him get closer to you after this. Listen to me, Jungkookie… Please get a Rematch.” And Jungkook explodes. “WHAT THE FUCK IS EVEN WRONG WITH ME?!” He doesn’t realize he’s screaming and that’s why Namjoon has rushed into the room. “DOES NO ONE WANT ME? I HATE THAT WORD, HYUNG. FUCKING REMATCH.” He spits out the word like poison, breathing hard. “Tae-Taehyung already said that, you don’t have to remind me that I’m worthless and that he doesn’t want me over and over again. I won’t even fight you, I’ll come wherever you want to take me because I know that he might not even come back. But pl-please,” And his voice finally breaks, embarrassing angry tears spilling out of his eyes. “Please stop with that fucking Rematch. I l-like him… s-so mu-much even if—even if he do-doesn’t. So d-d-don’t—” He closes his eyes, pulls the blanket to his face, sobbing into it loudly and completely missing Seokjin’s heartbroken look and Namjoon’s pained expression. . . . “He-He’s really unstable, hyung.” After lunch, Seokjin was growing restless. Their cubs were alone at home and while this was – still is – an emergency, his instincts were screaming at him to get back to his cubs because they would be starving by now, prowling around and waiting for him to come back. “Totally not advisable to live with us.” “He’ll only feel triggered, reminded of the things that he doesn’t - might not have,” Namjoon continues and Seokjin nods in a daze, already imagining Jungkook overwhelmed at the cubs’ presence and the older pair’s mating bond. “But we absolutely cannot leave him alone... It’s dangerous.” “I know… Why don’t you go back home to the cubs? I’ll stay with Kookie for a day or two then, then...” Namjoon shakes his head, pulling the bunny closer. “The cubs will be out of control. We need your presence to maintain the house, hyung. You know how crazy the twins go even when you’re out for shopping.” Seokjin is already nodding but no matter what, he’s not leaving his brother like this time. He hasn’t been there for him like he promised the younger bunny. “How about Jimin?” “Sorry, Joonie. But I have to stay with him, I want to—Jimin?” The older pauses abruptly, having not processed his mate’s words completely. “What about Jimin?” “Maybe Jungkook can stay with him for a while, only a day or two. A good, fresh change. Maybe even go to his dancing classes. You always say Jungkook was interested in dancing. He would be distracted from the pain, from Taehyung and we can track that dumb wolf in the while. His heat doesn’t hit until Monday, right? We have time. Maybe he will heal, even a little.” “An Omega mated to a coyote, a grumpy panther and two pups?” They remain silent, pondering over their friends’ family. “All right, I guess... Jungkook and I will meet up with Jimin-ah today. He’s charming enough to make Jungkookie comfortable. Hopefully, even help him.” Namjoon gives him a dimpled smile, his way of assurance. “And hyung, if he’s doesn’t like it there, then we’ll bring him to our home. His comfort is more important, hyung. Always.” Seokjin smiles genuinely since this morning, planting a kiss on his mate’s cheek and nuzzling into the comfort of his slightly taller frame.   …   “Jungkookie, get ready. We’ll have lunch out today, I’ll show you my café.” Jungkook perks up, at least tries to and his sparkles slowly returning to his eyes. It’s after they get ready and Namjoon leaves and when Seokjin and Jungkook are in the older’s car that he drops the bomb. “Ah, Kookie. I forgot to tell you something...” The older bunny slides his glance to the younger’s frame, glad that he seemed distracted by his surroundings. “Hmm?” “I hope you like Jimin. He’s a good friend of mine. We’re meeting him today.” “A FRIEND?! HYUNG, NOOOOO!” . . . All his life, Jungkook never had a best friend and he definitely didn’t think of them to come in the form of Park Jimin who, the bunny thinks is the most beautiful, delicate looking person he has ever seen. Mesmerized by the sweet, pretty Omega, Jungkook feels maybe Jimin could be the who could try help him, someone he could depend upon. The moment they stepped into his brother’s café, the older had pushed him towards a table with a blonde head poking from above the booths. Jungkook wanted to run away when he first saw how pretty Jimin looked. Jungkook doesn’t do well with pretty people, feels like he’s too big or small in his skin, wildly aware of his own imperfections. And he has a foot raised to run away from the café, curiosity be damned because it did kill the cat in the end but his eyes happened to fall into Jimin’s lap and he gasped out loud because there in pretty Jimin’s lap was a ‘smol pup’ in Jungkook’s words with tiny twitching ears and big eyes and fat, soft looking cheeks and pouting lips and fluffy black hair and just so tiny oh my goddd— And he want not one but many like that.  The bunny stood there with wide eyes glued to the pup, jaw slacked until suddenly the tiny creature was waving at him. He waves back dumbly, as an automatic response, even when he sees that it was Jimin who was waving the pup’s fist at him with a soft giggle. Jungkook, like everyone who came across the beautiful wolf, fell for his eye smile. Seokjin’s voice could be heard in the background as he says something to Jimin who nods and smiles again, adjusting the pup in the lap and in the next instant, the pup is a little closer to Jungkook, Jimin standing up before the bunny. “Jungkookie, Jin-hyung told us so much about you. Nice to finally meet you!” One of these days, if Jungkook continued to be subjected to Jimin’s smiles, he would turn blind from the brightness. “I’m Jimin, your hyung. Just two years older, though.” Jungkook snaps out of his spell and bows, cheeks dusting pink from having blanked out before a complete stranger. “Nice to meet you too, hyung!” Jungkook bows quickly and when he straightens, his eyes automatically go to the pup. “He’s really adorable. So tiny.” The bunny doesn’t realize that he said the last part until Jimin giggles again, hiding his smile behind the pups, eyes almost disappearing cutely. “Do you want to hold him?” Jungkook panics. “NO!” He winces at his loud volume, unable to control his worry. “No, I’ll probably… d-drop him or something. He’s really, really cute though.” Jimin laughs again and Jungkook has never met anyone who smiles or laughs this much, who is this happy in general. He's quick to notice their differences, Jimin is soft overall, with a smaller frame while Jungkook's shoulders are a little broader. Jimin was the kind of person he wanted to be, softer on the outside and inside but with a strong core to support all the fluff. Jungkook thinks that Jimin must be having everything he could ever imagine having. They end up sitting in front of each other and order something light to munch on and Jungkook finally musters up the courage to touch the pup’s cheek who doesn’t even bat an eye when Jungkook further shudders from the softness and smiles shyly while telling Jimin what he thinks about the pup. “You must like pups then, Jungkookie. Don't you?” Jungkook nods with a small, soft smile. “Hmm… It's good that you know what you want, Jungkook-ah. But do you… like them because you have to or because you just do?” Jimin plays with the straw of his milkshake, swirling the chocolate contents while Jungkook buys time taking a sip of his own one. The atmosphere stays light. “I just do… want to treat them like they deserve. Give them love that they need so much.” He decides to be truthful. “Of course, only the best for our pups.” Jimin coos, lightly pinching his pups cheek who just frowns slightly in return. “What's his name?” Jungkook asks, leaning forward on his elbows. “Jung Minseok, we'll be celebrating their second birthday in five months.” The Omega pats the pup's head who's having a field day by tearing the tissue papers into tiny pieces. “Ah, here he goes again… wrecking chaos again. It's so hard to keep our home clean with these two.” “Two?” The younger tilts his head, heart skipping in his chest at the possibility. “They're twins.” And Jimin didn't look as radiant as he did now when they talked earlier. “The other one is Jung Seokmin.” “Waaa~” The bunny is surprised to meet another… carrier? Can he call Jimin a carrier? “I thought Jin hyung was the only one… Hyung! Is it a werewolf thing or something? Or is it a predator thing? I don't understand the age difference between kids I usually see but they either look about the same age! Like, all of them and by all, I mean six or seven.” “Like,” Jungkook sucks in a breath, eager to finally get some answers. “Does any carrier ever give birth to a single baby? I mean, one at a time.” Jimin leans back, lips turning into a thoughtful pout. “Ah. I don't think so, Kook-ah.” "At all?” “No… Because the thing is, as you might know we're altered, right?” At Jungkook's nod, Jimin continues. ”Doesn't matter what your are – predator or prey, your body isn't yours anymore once you get Matched. As you know the predators are suffering with fertility problems, the medications make sure that if at all there was even one shot at impregnation, they made the Omegas and carriers take in these drugs to result in the most fertile heats.” "It's easier for Predators, there are barely a few male Omegas left so all turned to carriers and started mating them. It was a disaster at first, triggering mating cycles over and over again in vain until the doctors finally realized that they just had to make the rut intense. With the carriers already oversensitive and overdosed on hormones, only help the egg to split into two or more, resulting in litters.” Jimin stops and Jungkook sits all quiet, eyes glued to the Omega's face, expression torn. “Is that why you had twins, hyung?” "And Jin hyung had triplets first then twins.” Jimin nods and starts lightly bouncing the sleep pup in his arms, turning him around to press him against his chest. ”And you know how drastically the population fell, the governments all over the world have only concern – populating the world again. Our willingness to do so doesn't exactly matter.” When the silence gets too grim, Jimin speaks up.  “Don't think too much, Jungkookie. I get too unnecessarily deep sometimes. We still have a choice don't we? You can reject your Match and reapply—” “No… no, we can't, what are you talking about, hyung?” Jungkook had been sucking up each and every words said by Jimin and when he blurts out something like this, Jungkook backtracks. "Yes, you can.” "Taehyung told me that his family b-bought me for millions, hyung. There was no choice. Since our compatibility result came out the highest, there wasn't another option.” Jungkook was just informing Jimin of his facts so why was Jimin looking at him like he said someone had died. “I… I didn't, didn't think he would ever tell you something like that.” The older looks shocked, shoulders curling in ever so slightly and Jungkook misses the fire in his eyes. “How dare he?” "You know him?” With Jimin talking like he knew Taehyung personally, Jungkook comes to the realization that he doesn't really know about the older's relation towards his family. “Taehyungie and I are best friends.” He still manages a smile, blonde his making him look soft at the moment. ”Everyone thought it was weird because an Alpha and Omega mostly end up banging but we are strictly platonic.” He rolls his eyes as he says that, shaking his head in reassurance. ”Tae is too soft. You just have to see it in things he does. He's not good at talking or expressing himself. So he usually expresses himself with his actions and lately, I'm guessing that there had been no one to put him in his place.” "Maybe he just doesn't like me, hyung.” Jungkook tries to sound nonchalant, failing miserably at it. “No. That's where you're wrong, Jungkookie. You're literally Kim Taehyung's most sinful wet dream.. All of his preferences rolled into a bunny of all hybrids. He loves that forbidden shit, going against the rules and all. I'm surprised he didn't eat you up already or have you chained to his bed.” Jimin smiles teasingly, cooing at Jungkook's flaming face to lighten the mood and lessen the blow of his words. “Just now, I used metaphors Jungkook-ah. There might be a few wrong words used by me but do you get what I'm implying?” Jimin reaches over to squeeze Jungkool's clenched fists resting atop the table. “It's not your fault. That idiot is unable to handle his thirst for you and went berserk.” It's not your fault. It's not your fault. It's not your fault. That was all Jungkook needed to finally push a weight off his chest and he visibly bounces in his seat, eyes crinkling with his signature smile and before he knows it, Jimin is snapping a picture of him. “No offence, Kookie but you looked so much like a bunny that I just has to take a picture!” And when Jungkook sees his picture, he remembers the last time he was this happy when Taehyung was there. . . . Jungkook listens to Jimin's each and every word with unmoving eyes and alert ears, tattooing them into his brain. Jimin's eyes glimmer in barely concealed excitement as he talks about the event he's looking forward to the most. Jungkook didn't think he'd ever expect something like this to come out of his now favourite hyung's mouth. “Also, it's getting rare for wolves to mate with each other. Omegas can mate with other predators just fine.. My mate is a coyote, Hoseok. And we're thinking of stepping into a polygamous relationship with a close friend of ours, Yoongi, a panther. But he says he wants time.. Yoongi hyung is from a cat family after all so for my mate to allow him—" Jimin clicka his tongue softly, gaze faraway. "His instincts are messed up right now. Hoseok is really the best mate one could ask for. It was difficult for him to consider this a year ago but he says he wants me to be happy and here we are.. Taehyung supported me a lot through out last year when I was caught in cross roads. Can you imagine Taehyung bringing in another carrier? It takes a heavy toll on our relationship—" Jungkook is stunned into silence, eyes bulging out as he processes too much sensitive information without any warnings. But his mouth seems to be working just fine, even without his permission. “No. I won't allow it. I'm more than enough to carry as many litters as he wants— There-There's no damn n-need—for.. A-another..” Jimin looks taken aback from Jungkook's outburst, smile fading away and concert replacing it. “Do you t-think he might need.. someone else? Another m-mate?“. Jimin's eyes soften, almost apologetic and he explains. “Tae will give his everything and more in whatever he does so don’t worry about not being enough, Jungkookie. I think you've completely taken all over him. He's probably going nuts over you and thinking that a lifetime won't be enough to be with you. Don't think that you're not enough.” "Is that.. why you're this submissive? Because you want to please Taehyung?” Jimin is careful with his words, eyes soft and not judging even the slightest. Jungkook deflates at the question, going over it and thinking about why he's like that with the Alpha. “Not really.. Maybe yeah. Just- I, my instincts just scream at me to submit to him, afraid to anger or trigger him. I don't, don't want him t-to scream or fight or hi-hit me.” He confesses shamefully, unwelcome tears stinging at his eyes. ”I know he'll never do th-that… but still—” “Jungkook,” Something in Jimin's voice makes him realize the same thing that Jungkook couldn't put into words. “You're scared of him.” "You're so scared of Taehyung." He is, Jungkook accepts finally. He really is. "But he was the one who left me, hyung."   Chapter End Notes Mmm. Please drop_by_the_archive_and_comment to let the author know if you enjoyed their work!
