I knocked on the door to Serenity's apartment. "Why isn't she answering," Tei

Tei kicked the door. The door flew open. A whole bunch of dust flew at our
face.

We stepped into Serenity's apartment and had the shock of our lives.

The apartment was empty. Nothing. No chairs, decorations. Nothing.

I looked around. I looked at Tei and I could see his face turn as white as
could be.

"What are you two doing in here!" a voice cried out from behind us.

We turned around to face a short bald man, with a puffy pink face.

"I'm gonna call the police if you two don't get out of here," he yelled.

"Excuse me are you the manager of these apartments?" I asked.

I sat down next to him. I couldn't believe what I was hearing.

There hasn't been anyone in that apartment for years, repeated in my mind over

"Maybe it was all a dream," Tei said shaking his head. I could see that he

"Then how do you explain it," Tei yelled, "No ones been living there for
fucking years!"

He threw his cigarette on the ground.

"Well maybe we got the wrong apartment. Or maybe the manager is mistaken Tei. I
don't know," I said.

"No Deon, I know what I saw. That was the apartment. Dammit I knew something

We sat there silent on the porch for a few minutes.

"I don't understand Deon, if no one was has been there in that apartment for
years, then who did we fuck?"

"I don't know Tei," I said quietly.

"You aren't playin' some trick on me Deon are you?"

"Does it look like I'm jokin'?!" I yelled, "I'm just as confused as you are."

"Everything was just like you explained it Deon, accept the way you desribed
her apartment, and the sex."

"I don't know how to explain it Tei, but maybe we both got what we wanted
somehow," I said looking at him, "We both got the perfect girl to give us the

Epilogue: I finally broke up with Vicki, and Tei was actually thinking about
settling down. As for Serenity, we never saw her again, or heard from her. We
never knew who she was, or what she was about, she was just that girl that
changed us somehow.
