His whole body ached and he wondered if he had any broken bones. He certainly didn’t want to find out. He was content laying, dazed and confused as the two images of the ship’s mast above him swayed into focus. Two burly pirates stepped over him, crowding his view of the sky. “Oy! Boss, this one’s still alive!” The uglier one called out. His voice seemed worse than his face, if that was possible. “Let me have a look at him.” Now that voice. That voice was not ugly at all. In fact it sounded almost- Leigh’s thoughts were cut off by the heeled boot that perched itself upon his chest. “My, my.” The woman smirked, her red hair nearly touching Leigh’s face as she got a closer look at him. “He’s quite the looker.” With a confused mind and an aching body, Leigh lifted up a hand as he tried to speak. “No, no, sugar. No need to speak. Briar Rose has a little code of conduct, see?” She pulled a rapier from her belt. It was a glorious thing. Images of roses embossed on the golden guard. “Save the pretty ones.” She dragged her blade down the front of his white shirt, clipping off each of it’s buttons as she went down. Once she had enough of his shirt open she went to work. Her blade quickly slashed just at the top of the skin making several small incisions. It seemed as though she was merely doing this to be cruel, yet her strokes were like a painter’s. Each cut of her blade was done with purpose and intent. “C’mon boys! Let’s grab the goods and get back to our ship, this one’s going no where.” The luscious pirate captain knelt beside Leigh and whispered in his ear. “You might wanna get off this ship when you can, sugar. I’d hate to see that toned, little body of yours go to waste.” She stood and wiped his blood from the tip of her rapier before returning it to its sheath. Her heeled boots clacked upon the wooden deck and onto the gangplank back to her ship. There was a storm of other footsteps as pirates stole everything the ship had to offer. It was only after the pirate ship had taken off that Leigh had the courage to sit up and look around. He saw the black flag. Upon it laid a jolly roger, with roses instead of bones. He examined the ship. Just about everyone on board the simple cargo vessel was dead, anyone who wasn’t seemed to have taken the dinghies. Leigh heaved a sigh as he realized the cannons had blasted through the hull and the boat was sinking. Fast. With little else to do, he gained his bearings. With the sun hanging low in the west he could determine north and thus, find his way to shore. Getting there was the hard part. He stepped to the edge of the wooden boat’s starboard side and dove off into the salty water. The cuts on his chest stung and burned as he swam. The damage was not enough to slow his speed. The closest shore was a few miles away, not even visible yet. Leigh kept swimming. He was spared, he wouldn’t squander that chance on drowning. A few years had passed, Leigh’s wound had long been healed. When he looked upon it in the mirror he noticed the distinct shape of a rose. Over the years he had been gathering information of the beautiful pirate Captain Briar Rose. He learned all that he could about her. He heard tales from drunkards and tales from sober men. There was even a bard that he shared a few pints with who knew a few ballads that told of the rose pirate. Leigh Aerios was beginning to become infatuated with the woman who spared his life. The more he learned, the more he seemed to like her gumption and ignore her murderous intents. After all, she left him alive, didn’t she? Taking any job he could to sail the seas, Leigh would travel all over the land learning swordplay from his deckmates. It was on his fourth voyage on a fairly large trader that he saw the flag with the rose laiden jolly roger. He prepared himself, as the spotter in the crow’s nest shouted to the crew. Leigh knew their plan of attack by now. A single cannonball to the front of the ship, where no goods were stored. Then they would board, killing just about everyone who didn’t hide. Then she would come aboard and direct the salvage. Leigh could feel his heart in his ears. He was excited to see her again. His eyes had only set on her for a few moments in the past, but her face had never left his mind. He even made a point of dressing his best when he was aboard a ship, just incase Briar Rose were to raid it. His shirt on this particular day was made with a finest of linens and the more expensive of blue dyes. He made his way to the stern, as far from the front of the ship as he could. When the cannonball hit, he hid and waited for the boarding crew. He seemed to ignore the clangs of metal, the gunshots and the screams. His mind was merely on the pirate captain who held his heart. The commotion outside his hiding place had died down and he took a few steps onto the deck. He managed to step out just as the captain was stepping onto his ship. Her eyes looked straight to him. Then trailed down his fine shirt and to his belt, eying the rapier that hung from his waist. “Come to defend your ship, have you?” She drew her own blade, the very same one that marked him with the rose scar. “Very well, draw your blade.” She moved towards him before he complied. Her blade cutting at the shoulder seams of his shirt. He fumbled with his sword, barely pulling it from it’s sheath. “Come now. I pretty boy like you has got to be better with a sword than that.” “I’ve been training for three years, for the day I meet you once more.” He finally fell into a proper fighting stance despite the sliced sleeve that began to drop from his shoulder. Without hesitation Briar Rose swiped at his chest. The blade cut the fine linen of his shirt. She then picked off button after button, causing a corner of his shirt to fall and expose his scar. “My, my. I must say this is a first.” She giggled. “Though, I can’t let you live twice. I do have a reputation to uphold after all.” She gave another plunge with her sword, Leigh just barely dodged it. The blade did catch his favorite shirt once more, slicing atop his other shoulder. The blade even cut his collar in the process, certainly a close call. The two had continued their squabble, what attacks Leigh could not dodge or parry would simply be directed at his shirt. The blade would cut another hole of fabric as if she were only trying get him shirtless. It wasn’t long until he was shirtless and panting, barely holding his sword up. The pirate captain was able to disarm his with ease. “Well, now. That’s better. Perhaps I’ll let you live after all.” Briar Rose smiled at her brand upon his toned chest. Then, with speed and deliberation her blade nicked his belt, slicing the leather just beside the buckle. Without the needed support his pants fell to his ankles. Her blade then skirted atop his underwear with a practiced ease. The front of the young sailor’s drawers fell open exposing his manhood to Briar Rose’s crew as well as what remained of his crew. As his embarrassment set in the pirates laughed around him, only making it worse. The pirate captain grabbed him by the hair and dragged him to the side of the ship then tossed him into one of the small dinghies. “Row for shore. I assure you if we meet again I will not be so kind.” She then dropped the dinghy into the water and wrapped up her business upon the boat. When Leigh finally made his way to shore his naked form was greeted by the many dockworkers. He did his best to cover himself as he could. The rose scar was prominent on his chest, showing the world just who did this to him. It would be another two years before Leigh would meet Briar Rose again. Aboard a shipping vessel, Leigh was hired as a bodyguard. Specifically against pirates who may want to plunder the goods. He found this somewhat comical. Though he would do his best to prevent piracy, he truly wished that Briar Rose would find the ship. He had practiced his swordplay even more. He was good. Much better than anyone else on the ship. When he saw the black flags rise on the horizon, he sounded the alarm. His voice called everyone who didn’t need to be above deck to be below deck. He drew his blade and waited for the pirate ship to toss their gangplanks across to his ship. The pirates were worse at practicing their swordplay than his crewmates. Leigh cut down each and every pirate that had the nerve to cross his ship. There was a lull in the waves of men and he knew that meant their captain was to be coming out soon. His heart raced. He felt as though he were on a first date, nervous and a little excited. First came the clack of her heels on the wooden deck. The pirates were silently in awe over their new challenger that her heels rang out across both boats. Then came her voice, such a bitter sweet voice that called out. “Just why have my men stopped fighting?” “There’s a bodyguard on the ship. He’s really strong.” One of her crew perked up. Briar Rose eyed across the planks and saw Leigh Aerios. The man she let live. Twice. With his shirt unbuttoned to embrace some of the sun’s heat she spied her symbol. The rose just above his heart. He smirked with an intense lust as his eyes caught hers. In that moment, the pirate captain blushed. For the first time since she was a girl, she blushed and it felt warm. Like a soft blanket had been dragged across her face. “Come to my quarters. Let’s negotiate.” She beckoned him with a single drawing finger and he happily obliged. The sailor moved across to the pirate ship and followed the captain below deck as hushed whispers were echoing between the pirates. As Briar Rose walked to her quarters she was finding how strange it was that this man had turned her on like no other had been able to do before. His fighting prowess, his persistence in meeting her, all topped off with his devilish good looks. She felt her loins moisten behind her rouge leather leggings. As she closed the doors to her quarters she looked to the young sailor before her, the one who had so suddenly sparked her lust. Her red lips ushered a sexual growl as she said, “Let’s negotiate.” Within seconds she was pressing her blouse to his chest as her hands expertly undid his belt. “And just what are your terms?” Leigh was calm, confident. His breath was heavy merely from the excitement. “You give me what I want here and I let you go with twenty percent of your goods and your ship intact.” His cock sprang out of his pants, fully erect. “No can do.” Leigh snatched Briar Rose’s hands and pressed her against the wall. “How about you leave a hundred percent of my cargo, I give you what you want and no more of your crew has to die.” His hand had already begun wrenching down her pants. “Oh, my. A threat on my crew?” She smiled. She loved this man’s tenacity. Perhaps she loved him. She couldn’t quite tell, she’d never known the feeling before. “How about I leave you with forty percent, you give me that cock of yours as hard as you can and your ship stays afloat once we leave?” “No can do.” The two seemed to struggle between each other, each trying to pin the other. “Let me give you a counteroffer.” Leigh had just brought Briar to the ground, pinned and he quickly pushed his cock into her. The pirate captain let loose a pleasured gasp. “I give you the best sex you’ve ever had, and you get twenty percent of my trade goods. On top of that, my ship is free to leave.” Briar Rose thought this over for a moment. “Alright, but it really had better be the best sex I’ve ever had.” Leigh pounded into her before she had even finished her sentence. Outside the captains cabin several pirates listened from behind the door. They heard grunts and yelps. Hard thudding sounds were hard to miss across the ship. “Sounds like that negotiation is getting pretty intense. I’ve never heard the boss fight like that.” One pirate said, the others nodded in silent agreement, hoping their captain was alright., but not a single one would intrude on her negotiations. The two bodies of Briar Rose and Leigh Aerios mingled and rolled about the floor. Rose had reached a hand up and tugged roughly at Leigh’s shirt. The thin fabric ripped at her grasp sending buttons scattering across the floor. Like two savage beasts the two clawed and groped at each other. Leigh’s hand pulled down Briar’s blouse to get a better look at her breasts. His hand inadvertently tore the frilled edge of her shirt as his fingers pushed past the fabric and touched the skin of her breast. Briar’s hand could not help itself but to reach up and caress the scar she had left. It looked so perfect on his chest. The two came simultaneously. As they basked in the afterglow of their wild sexual tantrum Briar Rose did something she never thought she’d do. She pulled herself into Leigh and rested her head on his shoulder. In all her years of piracy and being a commanding officer of the sea, she never foresaw herself enjoying a cuddle with any man, let alone one she had met so briefly. Her hand stretched over his chest and traced the lines of the rosen scar as she wrapped a leg around his body. Leigh simply tossed an arm around her and the two laid and simply breathed softly, enjoying the company of one another. “Have you ever considered piracy?” Briar asked in a calm whisper. “I’ve considered it, if only to see you more often.” He let out a soft chuckle. “I’ll be honest the name Leigh doesn’t quite have a rough and tumble pirate sound.” She smiled and rolled to her back, pulling his warm body atop hers. “What’s your middle name?” “It’s Vincent, but still Vincent Aerios still doesn’t have the rough sound.” He admitted. His legs worked around hers, finding a comfortable position. “You’re right, we’ll have to come up with something else. Something more menacing.” The captain’s quarters were silent. Needless to say the crew was worried, but not a single one dared enter. Nearly two hours after the silence the two emerged. With their clothes torn and askew it looked to the pirates as though quite the battle had ensued. “Men, you are to board the other vessel and take twenty percent of their belongings.” Briar Rose called out to her crew. “And not a single life shall be shed. Do I make myself clear?” “Yes ma’am!” The crew saluted and went off to collect their due. Once the transaction the two stood on the side of their ships, looking to one another. “See you again on the sea sometime,” Leigh waved. “Oh, I’m sure this won’t be the last you see of me, sugar.” Briar Rose smirked. “I’m sure we’ll be at this for a long time.” The two ships spread from one another and soon Leigh made it into port. With only being in the port town for two days a runner came forth and brought a note to the young sailor. With the speed of a shark closing in on it’s prey, Leigh ran out of the inn and to the docks, he couldn’t believe his eyes. There was a huge ship sitting in the harbor, it’s name read “The Mermaid’s Mammory” and it’s sails were black. He looked to the note once more. Dear Vincent Blackwater, (That’s a much better pirate name, isn’t it?) Thank you so much for sharing your loot for me. It was quite kind of you. I thought I’d return the favor and let you sail the sea for yourself. It must be tiring having to procure all of those sailing jobs after all. This way you can sail the sea wherever and whenever you want. See you on the seas again and again. With love, Briar Rose And all topped off with a kiss of lipstick beside her name.
