http://www.asstr.org/~srb/ This story is a composite of a couple of different things I have thought about regarding futanari stories, I know the majority of writers here deal mostly in natural futa, that is born as one, or magical means. This is more of a sci-fi kind of story, so if it's not your thing you might want to mosey on by. Don't read if under 18 or illegal in your little corner of the world, like you'll listen. This should appear only on my website http://www.asstr.org/~srb/ F3, Futanari Palace, Pal's archive site, through Pal's yahoo group, on Pal's Forum... well, it basically should be wherever Pal's stuff is. Also at the Grey Archive, and some other places they might end up, they know who they are. This is copyright me, so don't call it yours. Feedback can be left here. I created all the characters, they are all fictional, and any relevance to anyone living or dead, is incidental BTW there is plenty of different portions which have been reused by numerous science fiction shows movies and books, including nanotechnology, rapid pregnancy, and various scientific mumbo jumbo, which I will try to keep to a minimum. (Bounce a graviton particle beam off the main deflector dish…) THIS CHAPTER contains masturbation, futa/futa sex, and oral sex. Chapter 7 Questions answered, Questions asked Kyle groaned as the alarm clock blared. It took her a moment to find the alarm, blinking eight o clock as the speaker belted out an atonal melody composed solely in synthesizers. "God, I hate that stuff' she thought to herself, 'I swear the kids can only listen to this junk to piss off their parents.' As she sat down on the bed, she looked over and saw her child Terra, and with her hands covered over her ears she must have felt the same about the music. "Sorry baby," Kyle said, getting up to her feet. "I just have that on the alarm clock because it gets me up," she said, making a mental note to change the preset on the clock. "I'll get up early tomorrow and turn it off for you," Terra offered, turning over in the bed. "No, I mean, I wanted to get up now, so I set the alarm to...you know, never mind babe, I'm up," Kyle said. "I'm gonna take a shower, I'll be back in a minute" she said, walking to the dresser and grabbing another pair of sweats and a top. "I don't really feel like a shower now," Terra said, turning over and stepping out of bed. "Oh, well alright honey, it's not like you're really dirty," Kyle said, as she headed towards the bathroom door. As Kyle showered, her daughter considered stepping out of the room, but decided against it. She still didn't know anywhere to go, and figured that her mom could show her around. Only a few minutes later Kyle emerged, wearing a towel wrapped around her crimson curls. "Do you want to get some breakfast?" Kyle asked, as she pulled up some socks before pushing her feet into a pair of sneakers. "Sure. I um," Terra said, watching as her mother tied her shoes. "Yes babe?" Kyle asked. "I don't know anywhere. And I don't have shoes," she said, as a matter of fact. "Oh, yeah, well here, let me get you something to wear," she said, grabbing a pair of socks and a pair of running sneakers. She almost handed them over, but decided to slip off the ones she was wearing instead of passing on the smelly running shoes to her daughter. Handing them over, she accomplished another first early, tying her shoes. Once the two were ready to go out, Kyle gave Terra a tour of the facility. There wasn't a long that was there for the two to go over. There was everyone's room, the four laboratories, which were all adjoining, the storage room, and the recreation room, which was almost always empty. Their final destination was the cafeteria, which was equipped with the latest food blenders, capable of creating food with thousands of varieties, down to over a dozen of different kinds of pepperoni. The blenders themselves had nothing to do with an ancient product designed to shred food apart which was used over five hundred years prior. "So how does it work?" Terra asked, looking at the computer terminal. "Well, you just select whatever you want, and wait a sec, and ta-dah!" she said, as a ding confirmed that the food was ready to be eaten. Kyle opened up the corresponding slot, and found a plate of blueberry pancakes, with a side of maple syrup. While it was good, it was nowhere near real maple syrup, but there wasn't much that could be done about that. "But how does it work?" Terra asked, looking over the suggested breakfast meals, wondering what these things actually meant. What was a waffle? Or muffins? Lean ham? "Tom invested it, it takes a combination of different stuff like grains and vegetables and sugars and meat and uses it as raw materials to make whatever we order." Kyle said, licking her lips as she looked down upon her breakfast. "But, how does it make the food?" Terra asked. "I don't know, ask Tom," Kyle said. "You don't have to know how a thing works to know that it works," Kyle said. "Oh, uhm, let me get something for you to eat." "What are you having?" Terra asked, peering towards her mother's dish. "Blueberry pancakes, here, try some," she said, ripping off a chunk with a fork before dunking it in syrup and pressing it towards her lips. Terra opened her mouth, and was amazed as it was filled with the most delectable flavor she had ever tasted. Grabbing the fork from her mother, she doused the pancakes in the syrup before shoveling a mouthful in at a time, barely taking a moment to chew and swallow in between bites. Kyle laughed as she guided her daughter towards the closest table, slowly lowering the tray before ordering herself another stack of pancakes. "Well, I guess that she won't have to worry too much about her figure," Yoshi said, upon entering the room. "With the nanobots and all," "'Morning" Kyle said, as she grabbed a second plate of pancakes. She watched as Yoshi began brewing a pot of real coffee, as he put it, having hated the synthetic blend that the blenders put out, before inputting his own breakfast. "Everyone make it through the night alright?" he asked, watching as the coffee brewed almost instantly, and poured the two of them a cup. "Uh-huh," Kyle said, taking a cup from Yoshi before adding some of the sugar and creamer. "We're gonna need you back for tests today, we wanted to get them out of the way early. You know how Tom is, works from dawn 'til dusk, doesn't even get out to enjoy the finer things," Yoshi said, breathing in the coffee before taking a sip. The two of them watched as Terra got back up, and ordered another batch of blueberry pancakes. "What's that?" she asked, looking at the mug of coffee her mother held. "Coffee," Yoshi said. "I wouldn't advise trying this out now though," he said, remembering her earlier experience in anchovy pizza. "You should try some juice, the pineapple-orange juice is actually pretty good," he said, pushing up the drink on the terminal. The food blenders dinged almost simultaneously, and Terra grabbed the glass of juice and put it on the plate before heading back to the chair, and proceeded to wolf down this new stack. "You should take her outside, let her work off some of this big breakfast. And if you see Tom out there, tell him I'm going to prep everything for the tests," Yoshi said, grabbing a bran muffin before heading out the door. "Wonder where Nadia is, usually she's here eating her usual oatmeal," Kyle said as she ate her food. "So, what's outside like?" Terra asked, her mind able to think of concepts like trees, grass, birds, and plants, but it was like seeing a picture on television, to see it isn't to experience it. "We'll see in a minute, once I finish this," Kyle said. Only a couple minutes later she had finished eating, and the two of them headed out the door towards the exit. What Terra saw amazed and confused her, she had spent the entirety of her short lifetime in the sterile white environment of the laboratory. Yet everything here was so strange, so different, the ground, the air, the lack of walls, the plants and the birds chirping as they flew free overhead. Terra had to inspect every thing, down from a small anthill to the trees. She was amazed at the life that flourished, unrestricted by any walls or ceilings. "If you like this, we'll have to go to the greenhouse," Kyle said, smiling the whole time as she watched her daughter's curious nature. Truly, this was nothing like she had planned, she had envisioned a normal child, and a baby she could hold in her hand and dote on which would grow to be the fine young woman she was watching after sixteen years. She felt like, in some way, that Terra's childhood had been stolen, but not from her, from Terra. She won't have the normal kind of life that everyone else does, she won't experience her first day of school, her first period, going to high school, her prom, everything. Well, maybe it would be nice to skip a few of them. 'I'm just going to have to make everything as good as I can for my baby' she thought to herself. While Terra could speak like an adult, and even knew what a pine tree was as opposed to what grass was, she still had a childlike inquisitive nature, seeing everything for the first time. Kyle looked off in the distant, watching one of the guards. About a hundred feet away he kept an eye out, canvassing the outlying territory. 'She doesn't even notice him' Kyle thought, as she looked upon Terra. "Over here," Nadia said, pointing towards the greenhouse Tom actually liked to call it an arboretum, as most of the stuff he grew was pretty rare for this part of the country, 'But it's a greenhouse really' Kyle thought. Opening the doors, Terra eyes opened wide as a myriad of colors and smells invaded her senses. The flora was stacked in rows resembling a pyramid, starting low and working it's way up, with the smaller plants and flowers starting way up and working down to smaller shrubs, with gaps every four feet or so wide enough for a person to fit through to water. Terra was astounded, every color that she had seen, and some she never had were plastered from wall to wall. "Oh my god, I'm sorry Tom," Kyle said, breaking Terra's fascination for a moment as she turned towards Tom. "What are you doing?" Terra asked, looking down at the sitting scientist. He was sitting on a small mat in the middle of the room, eyes shut, with a small candle lit in front of him. "Meditating," Tom said, before opening his eyes. With a controlled exhalation he extinguished the flame, before getting up. "What is meditating?" Terra asked, as she watched Tom arise. "That is a tough question to answer. I guess the best way to put it is this, in order to focus my mind I try to eliminate outside diversions. In this way I can achieve a higher level of thought, and hopefully a higher level of consciousness. Through mental exercises, I strive to better myself and understand better myself and my surroundings," Tom answered, marshaling his words so as not to confuse Terra. "So by closing your eyes and sitting down, you think better?" Terra asked, still confused by the notion. "That may be a gross oversimplification, but in essence it's got a merit of truth. Think of it more like this, in order to focus on a single flower," he said, picking up a plastic flowerpot containing a scarlet begonia from the third shelf down. The color nearly matched Terra's hair. "It's easier to remove it from all the others, so you can appreciate it singularly, without it's beauty and smell being lost in a crowd. It's the same with thoughts. To focus on the individual idea it's best to remove the outside information and focus on it alone." "But how do you know what to think about?" Terra asked, really getting into her first deep conversation. "I mean, even with your eyes closed, wouldn't you think about the smell, or the cold, or you're hungry, or anything?" "You do it first by emptying your mind, working with an empty canvas. As you clear your thoughts, your mind becomes as a glass, able to be filled anytime by whatever drink your mind thirsts for," he said, doing his best not to try to convert the young woman. Her mind was so impressionable, as any child is, but with her capacity to understand deep philosophical and spiritual conversations, the results could be difficult to predict. Attempting to change the subject, she handed the plastic flower pot to Terra, saying "Here, a reminder of your first visit here. Just leave it by the window and remember to feed it water once a day, I'll show you once we finish," he said, stopping for a second as he noticed how much time had passed. "I'm sorry, I guess we're late with the tests, let's take care of that, we already have more on our hands than we can deal with as it is. And things will only get easier without me prattling on." Tom opened the door, holding it open for the women in a gesture of chivalry that had all but died out. The three of them made their way towards the facility, making only a quick stop to drop off Terra's new flower before heading back to the main laboratory. When they entered, Tom was surprised to see Yoshi and Nadia in a heated conversation, which they stopped as the door opened. "Hi everyone," Nadia said, forcing a nervous smile. "Hey Nadia, missed you for breakfast," Kyle said nonchalantly. "Oh, I slept in. After giving Tom a hard time yesterday about overdoing it, I guess I needed the rest too," she shrugged, hoping that everyone would buy the lie. To some degree it was relieving to her that nobody had figured out what had happened. But the fear hanging over her head was almost too much. "Alright," Yoshi said, his voice still slightly annoyed. "This should be east enough. We're going to run through a series of tests designed to determine Terra's cognitive abilities. These include memory, hand-eye coordination, and an intelligence quotient test. as well as some physical strength, agility, as well as a few others. We'll round it out with a full body scan, a blood test, and a neural scan. Shouldn't take more than a few hours, and after that you'll have the rest of the day to yourselves," he said watching a rather neutral expression on Terra's face. "Don't worry, we're not going to hurt you in any way." As Yoshi called up the first test the group realized that one fact had been missed entirely. Terra could read. And not just read like normal people. She could read a whole screen of test faster than anyone else could read the first line. Even more impressive was that she had a photographic memory. Tom had her recite line and verse of a Shakespearian sonnet hours after having read it for only once. Her grammar and spelling weren't nearly as perfect to start out, but with the more that she read the quicker that she seemed to naturally understand grammatical syntax. And her intelligence quotient was through the room, even for a grown adult. Yet perhaps the most impressive aspect was her physical performance as she had the body of an Olympian. At least the physical talents of an Olympian. While most women in the world would envy curves like hers, such a body would be more than problematic for an Olympian. Her speed was close to record setting, both in the short distance and the long distance. She nearly broke the world's record established almost three hundred and fifty years earlier with no training. Her body was almost entirely lean muscle mass, and she had a body fat index of only six percent, caused primarily by her curvaceous body. "Well," Yoshi said, as the last physical test, an endurance run, slowly finished it's cool down, "You did so much exercise you tired me out!" "It's a good thing she ate so much for breakfast," Kyle said, proud of her child's accomplishments. "Now, if you'll just sit down here," Tom said, motioning towards a bland office chair. "We'll just finish this up real quick." Terra complied, sitting down on the chair, but her eyes grew wide as she saw the needle in Nadia's hand headed towards her. "It's okay Terra, this won't hurt. I've taken blood samples dozens of times," she said, trying to comfort the girl as she cleaned the skin over the elbow. "Don't worry, it won't hurt," Kyle said, speaking from more than enough experience. Nadia had to take blood samples from her every morning for over a month, by the end she wondered just how she had any blood left. "The nanobots would compensate for any pain in any case," Tom said, as he readied the neural scanner .Terra looked over to him and by the time she had turned her head back, Nadia had already taken the blood and was applying the bandage. "Now, if you're ready," Tom said, positioning the scanner. "If I'm ready what?" Terra asked. "If you're ready we can get the scan done. It should only take a minute and then that will be it. It'll even be easier than the workout," Tom said, pressing a button. "Just try to sit still." he said, waiting for the readout to show up on the monitor. Forty eight seconds later the information had been gathered and Tom turned the machine. "That's all, thanks for being so helpful. Looks like we're gonna have a ton of info to look over. You two should take the rest of the day off. I'm sure you have a lot of getting to know each other you want to do." "Let me know if anything is wrong," Kyle said as she stood up. "I doubt there'll be any problems, but we'll keep you apprised." Tom replied, watching the two head out the door. "Hey Nadia, can I talk to you for a minute," Kyle asked, drawing all eyes towards her. "In private?" she asked, following the doctor out the door to the hallway. "My boobs are REALLY sore," Kyle said, grabbing them for emphasis. "I think I need to be milked, but Terra is so big and breastfeeding a woman that size seems..." "It's fine hon., let me check, I'm sure we have some breast pumps for you to use." Nadia said, heading towards the storage room. Well, not so much a room but more of a warehouse that housed almost every medical device imaginable. Tom wasn't the kind to undertake any experiment involving human life without being more than prepared. And it seemed logical to have a breast pump somewhere. 'Of course there's probably a box of adult diapers here as well' she thought to herself. "Want to join us for lunch?" Kyle asked, as Nadia ran her fingers across the keyboard, searching through the computer terminal and finding the location of the breast pumps. "Yeah, I'm could eat," Nadia said, growing more comfortable as Kyle spoke normally to her. While she wasn't exactly starving missing breakfast was a change in her usual routine and she didn't want to raise any suspicions. Kyle followed her to a particular shelf, and using the librarian's step, took the labeled box off the second to the top shelf, and handed it to her. "These are pretty easy to use, basically whenever you feel the pressure building up, you plug the machine in, press it to your nipples, push the button on and it will automatically suck the milk out of your breasts, and fill the jar," Nadia said, before stopping a moment, "But we should take care of the breast milk. It's probably teeming with nanobots. I'll ask Tom what he thinks we should do about it later. Until then, let's grab a bite." Nadia and Kyle joined the other three in the lab as the two scientists were trying to explain in detail how the food blenders work exactly. Terra was picking it up surprisingly well considering she didn't know the finer details behind how computers functioned. Tom and Yoshi seemed more than happy instructors. Tom was even drawing a diagram on a computer terminal. "Maybe we can take a break off of theory," Nadia said, interrupting Yoshi in the middle of a description of the synthetic food processing unit, "And try a practical application." "Come on, let's go get something to eat baby," Kyle said towards Terra. The two scientists watched as the three women headed out the door. Yoshi's attitude seemed to change one hundred and eighty degrees. "Something is wrong Tom. Something is seriously wrong." "What were you talking about with Nadia when I got here?" Tom asked. "The two of you looked like you were in the middle of a fight." "At first I thought that there was something that the two of you were working on that you didn't tell me about. I mean, she is in charge of the project and if you were doing something that you didn't want to tell me you surely would have to tell her. But she seemed insistent that there was nothing here that I didn't know. So I have to ask you, are you holding something back from me?" Yoshi asked, as serious as a heart attack. "I've never held a single thing from you on this project Yoshi why would I start now?" Tom asked, both confused and concerned by his colleague's question and tone. "Look, I did some additional research on the nanobots this morning. The first thing that was all wrong was their ability to transfer the mental capacity that they have to Terra. I examined the nanobots and discovered a problem, they couldn't do it! The nanobots themselves don't have the capacity for memory transfer, even working in concert they don't have the ability to send information on the scale that they have." Yoshi said, punching up a report on the computer terminal. Tom dashed over, reading the data that Yoshi sent up as he continued. "Then I looked into a number of incongruities. While Nadia has grown a dick Terra hasn't shown any signs of it. She's just a regular, normal girl physically. But the DNA is identical! At first I thought it was due to the subconscious mind secretly desiring it like you suggested before." he said, bringing up another page of information. "These nanobots shouldn't even have the capacity to read or merge with the neural system, they weren't designed for it. These nanobots were designed for understanding preset commands, written in binary, just like all of our technology is. But the language of the brain isn't even compatible. The nanobots shouldn't even be able to understand them, let alone communicate or transfer the information." "Then, I found perhaps the most startling evidence of all, the nanobots aren't the same ones we put in!" Yoshi said, punching up a detailed technological design for the original nanobot design. "I checked the original specifications including the ones we have in suspended animation to the samples we gathered yesterday in Kyle and Nadia. Look at this," he said, punching up a different readout. "This isn't possible," Tom said, watching and soaking up every detail he could possibly read. The nanobot was different. Roughly ten percent larger mass and carrying more complex systems than he imagined possible on such a small piece of technology. He could recognize individual functions, but there were entire areas whole physical makeup he couldn't recognize, let alone their purpose. As he examined the computer schematic, he knew this was no abnormality. "I checked both a blood test and a semen test, both contained the exact same nanobots in Nadia and Kyle. I didn't want to bring it up in front of them, which is why I was so insistent on the blood test on Terra. Let's put it through the computer system now, I want to see what comes up." Yoshi said, placing the blood sample in the special cylinder. When the computer displayed the results, both scientists were struck almost speechless. * "Oh my god!" "It's okay, just take your time with it," "It's so good though!" Terra said, working her way through her first dessert. An hot fudge ice cream sundae to be specific. "I think she should have to do some chores before she gets dessert," Nadia said with a smirk. "At least that's how I used to do it," "Any ideas for chores?" Kyle asked, watching with a serene smile as Terra worked her way down the bowl of ice cream. "Well, at least clean up the room, maybe do the laundry? She seems pretty good at finishing her vegetables," Nadia grinned, the young girl's appetite had been nothing short of astounding. First a grilled cheese sandwich and tomato soup, followed by a turkey bacon sandwich, then onto a grilled Caesar salad before eating her dessert. "We're going to have to get some laundry first," Kyle said. "Unless we're just going to wear sweatpants for the rest of our lives." "Well, this skirt isn't too bad," Nadia said, referring to the long black skirt that ran well her knees. It looked nice on her over her white top, covered by a bland everyday white laboratory shirt, of course with her newly grown breasts, there was more action these days. "Maybe your skirts aren't bad, but I would have a hard time wearing a skirt without being noticed," Kyle said, laughing at the idea of a tent poking down under her short skirts. "Why is that?" Terra asked between shoveling mouthfuls of hot fudge and ice cream between her lips. "Oh, well I have um, something extra down there," Kyle said, still trying to duck the issue. "Oh, you have one too," Terra said nonchalantly, paling Nadia's face in an instant. Kyle looked confused, but didn't ask any questions, much to Nadia's relief. "Should we explain it to her?" Nadia asked, faced with a difficult discussion. While she had reservations about describing the state of things to the girl, she felt like she deserved to know. And her IQ tests were literally off the scale, she could comprehend this but this wasn't up to her. Not now, it was Kyle's choice for her child, and Nadia would have to be there for whenever Kyle thought it was appropriate for Terra to learn. "I'd like to know," Terra said, running her tongue along the side of the bowl. "Well, I don't know," Kyle said, struggling herself with the decision. While she wanted to tell her baby everything, part of her wanted to keep the youthful innocence for as long as she could. 'But', Kyle thought to herself, 'I can't keep the origin of her life secret, she deserves to know. But how do you even begin to explain?' she sighed for a moment, thinking on 'At least I have Nadia here, she can help me. And she wants to know, how can I keep it from her and still be her mom? But was this the right time? Would there be a right time, ever?' "Baby, you probably know now that you're different than most people," Kyle said, trying to find a starting point to the whole discussion. The story really began ten years, three days ago when Mars had attacked, but how to describe so much to a mind that never even thought of fighting, let alone war, or death? * "This is impossible!" Tom said, reading over the technical specifications of the nanobot. This one was inconceivable to the scientists, not only was it more complicated than any kind of technology either had ever even heard of, but it had elements that neither one of them had ever even seen. There were elements of sixteen different kinds of metals that weren't even on the expanded periodic table of the elements. Some of these shouldn't even be stable, they should have a half-life of about a nanosecond! "Something is wrong here," Yoshi said. "And it took everything I had to stop myself from scaring them." Tom sighed, nothing here had been going as planned, and this newest fact frightened him down to his very core. Not only was this completely unknown, it also potentially threatened the life of three women that he held dear. "Does anyone else know about the project?" Yoshi asked. "No, not really. I mean, Smith had approached me, then I had to get it okayed by a secret subcommittee to create the black project, but beyond those twelve senators and Smith, no one else should know about it. Other than the general." He said. General Bodarko, Nadia's father had been a big proponent of the project since its design. Tom had always been weary of having the support of the military. Nadia had always resented the implication that she only got this job because of her family relation. "That was the whole plan, if we failed we would just scrap all the plans, all the evidence, that's why we had a soldier, someone who we could trust to do what she was told, someone who could be trusted in keeping her mouth shut. Nadia had been involved in working for the government for years before getting this project, and I had to get special waivers to even have them think about looking over adding you to the team." Tom said, cracking his knuckles as he tried to come up with some kind of explanation. "We're going to have to tell Nadia," Yoshi said to no one in particular. "She's the project manager, she's in charge here." "I want to know what's going on first," Tom said forcefully. "Until we can determine what's going on we have to treat these foreign nanobots as dangerous entities. They might be capable of controlling their minds, or even causing them pain. Especially if these nanobots have some capacity to communicate with some outside group." "So what are we going to do?" Yoshi asked. "We spent months going over the possible containment procedures. First things first, we have to each take blood tests, both by ourselves and by each other, as well as having the computer verify that we're clean of the nanobots. Then we have to close down the compound. If we're lucky the women won't want to go outside again and they might not notice. I'd rather not lie, and I don't want them to know if they are being observed." Tom said, running through a checklist he had prepared in his head. "Supposed to rain today, should keep them inside." Yoshi said with some hope. "Unless Terra wants to dance in the rain for the first time," Tom said grimly. "Once we've proved we're clean, and locked down, we can use the internal scanners to determine any outside communications, either coming or going. We can limit the computer systems access to the public feeds, and download them ahead of time to monitor any kind of transmission." "Are we overreacting?" Yoshi asked. "Yes, but what's the other choice? This could be damaging to everyone here. And what would be the price of not reacting?" Tom asked rhetorically. "Who needs sleep anyways?" Yoshi asked with a dry smile. "We got more than we deserved last night," Tom said. * "So they killed all those people?" Terra asked, her mind barely capable of even fathoming the sheer number of people, let alone that they had been killed. 3 billion people, combined from the people who had died initially, along with the people who had died due to radiation poisoning, or lack of essential supplies like food, water, and electricity. The sheer idea brought a tear to her eye. "Yes baby, it's okay," Kyle said, as he hugged Terra. "It happened more than ten years ago, and we've been at peace since then. There's no reason to think they are gonna hurt anyone again." Kyle cursed herself as she embraced her child. 'This wasn't what I wanted' she thought to herself. "But there's no reason to stop them?" Terra asked, sniffling a little as she wiped her tear on her shirtsleeve. Neither woman answered, which was enough of an answer to Terra. "One of the biggest blows wasn't just the people lost. A lot of the people we lost were men, who were always a majority in the military. Additionally, a lot of women, suffered effects from the radiation which made them sterile." Nadia added. "That's when we started this project, we wanted to make a means to help people." "H-how?" Terra asked, taking a deep breath. "Well, like she said, people couldn't have kids the way they used to. With a lot of the young generation of men...gone" Terra said, choosing her words cautiously, "And a lot of people suffering from sicknesses that stopped them from being able to have kids, they came up with a way to solve the problem." "What was that?" Terra asked. "They are called Nanotechnological Robotics, or nanobots for short." Nadia said, watching as the young girl's attention shifted from tragedy to curiosity. "They are tiny, tiny robots, so small they can fit into a cell of a human being. On their own, they can't do much, but in the sheer numbers they have, they can alter the body on the molecular level, changing the DNA and RNA, replacing old or cancerous tissue, cleaning out impurities the human body is incapable of, and healing it at a rapid rate, even removing pain associated with common discomforts, like getting blood drawn." 'Or giving birth' Kyle thought to herself. "So you made everyone healthy?" Terra asked, her mind past the war, at least for the moment. "Not yet honey, we had to test things out first," Kyle said. "One of the important things its that there just aren't enough men around anymore, and a lot of the ones that are around are too young, or too old." "So we were able to create a means to allow women to pass on genetic material to other women. The only viable option was hermaphrodites," Nadia said. "So, you mean you have both a penis and vagina, so you can replace men?" Terra asked. Kyle's mind raced, concerned at the jump of logic her child made. "Not replace them, we're trying to help repopulate the planet. There's nothing wrong with men, and we don't want to replace them." Nadia said. "Men are just as important as us women, there just aren't enough right now to keep the species going. We had to find a way to keep us going, so the next generation can survive." "That's where you come in honey," Kyle said, embarrassed as she began to explain Terra's conception. "See, I was having trouble sleeping one night, and I," Kyle stopped, the color of her face matching her carmine hair. "I started masturbating." she looked over at Nadia, who was already scared to death of this conversation. Kyle nodded towards her, and suddenly Nadia seemed to get the idea, she wanted help. "Normally, when people have sex, they put a penis into a vagina, and when the man orgasms, semen is ejaculated to fertilize the egg and impregnate the woman." Nadia said, watching as Terra gave a knowing nod. 'Oh god I can't take this for much longer.' she thought. "But when people are alone, they sometimes do what's called masturbation, where they please themselves, bringing themselves to orgasm." "That's what I did. But while I was masturbating, I got some of the sperm inside of me, and," Kyle said, taking a gulp "I got myself pregnant." "So, you're my dad too?" Terra asked. "Well, kind of, I mean, I'm your mom, but...I guess I'm both," Kyle said, struggling to come up with words to appropriately explain the situation. "I think that makes me a clone," Terra said, after a minute of contemplation. "Well," Nadia said, scratching her head. "The two of you do share genetic makeup. With the exception of your mother's...extra features, you are almost biological identical. Your DNA and RNA are the same..." Kyle gave Nadia an annoyed look. "So I am a clone," she said, not even wondering where she learned the word, or its meaning. "It doesn't matter," Nadia said. "Terra is your mom, she carried you to term, and she loves you. While you might not be born the usual way, your still a person, and you are still loved." "So, you masturbated, and got yourself pregnant, and you had the nanobots, does that mean I have them?" Terra asked. "Yes, honey, you have the nanobots in your body, we checked as soon as you were born." Nadia said. "But, I mean, I only have a, a vagina, why don't I have a penis?" she asked. * "Well, at least we're clean," Yoshi said, administering a little gauze over the small needle wound. "I've taken care of the rest, we just have to figure out what's going on. Let's see what the computer has come up with..." "Is it possible that the nanobots have somehow improved upon themselves?" Yoshi asked. "No, it wouldn't be possible, even if one or two of them were able to somehow find a way to evolve, which is impossible, they couldn't replace the entire nanobot population. We would see at least a combination of both working side by side, they aren't present at all. Even in Kyle's body...pull up the scans we just took yesterday of Kyle, and the ones we took right after we injected the original nanobots," Tom said, watching as Yoshi compared the two scans. "The electronic signature of the nanobots are all wrong...but how could it have been...I mean, there's no way that we could have missed anything, even the..." Tom sighed. "This explains why the nanobots were able to do everything that we never thought they could. Someone used your idea, and improved on it." Yoshi said. "But who in the world could come up with this? The list of people who knew about it are so small, and it took us years just to come up with a working system, but to improve upon it this far..." Tom said, part of him admiring whatever bastard had done this. This was far beyond even what he was capable, and that was a rarity. "Look, the important thing is to make sure that the girls aren't being monitored or controlled. Let's just hang back and try to figure out what we can, and hope that things can work themselves out," Yoshi said. "Bring up the scan we took today, and compare it to the previous neurological scans," Tom said, looking at the dichotomy between the two. "See, the nanobots in Nadia's and Kyle's bodies aren't fully integrated, they are assisting what they are trying to do, as we can see by when I cut Kyle's hand," he said, focusing on a specific scan "The nanobots are responding to the actions of the mind. But compare it to Terra's scans," Tom said, changing the scan, "See, here, the nanobots are fully working with the brain, even working in tandem with the brain cells, communicating directly with the neurons, copying the electrochemical signals, which explains her IQ and her photographic memory among other things..." Tom said, examining in detail the electromagnetic signature being let off by the nanobots. * "So, you wanted to be a hermaphrodite?" Terra asked. "Well, that's kind of putting it a little simply, but yeah," Nadia said. Terra sat for a moment, as she considered that. Since last night she had wanted to have a penis. The penis that Nadia used last night fascinated her. And if the orgasm she had from just her vagina was so mind blowing, she could only imagine what having a one of her own would be like. But if it was so simple as wanting it, then why didn't see already have one, she had wanted one since she first saw one. "So how did you get it?" Terra asked. "I don't really know, like I said I accidentally got the nanobots in my body, then I had the erotic dream, and suddenly I woke up with it," Nadia said. "But that's it, you just wanted it?" Terra asked. "Well, yeah. Tom's working theory is that my subconscious self sought the, well wanted it, and as the nanobots increased their numbers they grew it for me," Nadia explained, concerned about the way the conversation was going. "Baby, I'm sorry I waited so long to tell you, I didn't want to, but," "It's okay mom, I probably had to grow a bit older before I could understand it," Terra said. "Enough of this heavy talk," Kyle said, "Let's do something fun." "Like what?" Nadia asked. "Want to shoot some hoops?" Kyle asked. "It's raining outside," Nadia replied. "Oh, damn. Well, we can still do something fun." Kyle said. "Let me see..." Nadia said, as a shiver ran down her spine. Suddenly, she felt...warm. No, not warm, aroused slightly...like she had just been fantasizing about someone, like she was on a date... "Why don't we play a game?" She said, watching as Terra was looking down at the empty bowl, deep in thought. What she didn't realize was that Terra was the one who was fantasizing. Thinking about having a penis. Envisioning sex, penetrating, being penetrated, every which way, by Nadia. Nadia noticed Kyle was looking strange as well. * "Here!" Yoshi said, pointing towards an electromagnetic transmission. "What is it?" Tom asked, watching the wave amplitude. It was strange, it wasn't a transmission, and it wasn't even being broadcast either inside or outside the complex. Using the internal scanners, he was able to pinpoint the location of the transmission, it was coming from inside of the cafeteria. "Localize it" he said, watching the computer zoom in, showing the three woman sitting by the table. As he watched, he had a clash of conscience. As a doctor, his patients had the right to decide how they wanted to receive their medical attention, in this case if they wanted to be scanned. It was a serious breach of ethics to scan them. But this might be his only chance to get any information pertaining to the nanobots. and if there was something that was affecting their mentality, he couldn't ask them without endangering their health. "Yoshi, start scanning all of them," Tom said, his voice grim. "What?" Yoshi said, well aware of the ethical questions. "Do it, under my authority," Tom said. Yoshi nodded before turning on the internal scanners. Tom watched in surprise as he found the location of the transmission, it was coming from Terra. The nanobots in her mind were generating some kind of harmonic transmission, which was reacting to the nanobots in Kyle and Nadia's bodies. To what extend, he did not know. "Do you recognize this?" Yoshi asked, watching the transmission. It barely qualified as a transmission. It was more like feedback being picked up on an electric microphone, just feeding off of a background wave and amplifying it, then rebroadcast it. * "I know, how about we play the new Nintendo game?" Nadia said, suddenly breaking Terra and Kyle's concentration. "Oh, that's a fun game. Kind of for kids though," Kyle said, then looking towards Terra said "I bet she'd like it. I don't know any other games we should start her on." she said, getting up, "Come on baby, let's go to the rec room." * "Huh, it's over," Yoshi said, watching as the transmission ended suddenly. "Whatever it was, it wasn't in English, that's sure. Wait, the transfer!" Yoshi said, pulling up the information that had been transferred just before Terra's birth. "They're moving," Tom said, wondering to himself if there was any way that they might have found out about it. Tom hated spying on the three of them, he had worked with Nadia for years on this project, and had grown to respect her immensely. He had always appreciated Kyle's spirit and determination. And he felt responsible for Terra almost in a fatherly manner, since it was his experiment that resulted in her being possible. His only justification was that this was necessary, that what he was doing was in her best interest. "Looks like they're going to the recreation room," Yoshi said, watching as the internal sensors followed them. The remainder of the day progressed rather normally for the women, who relaxed for the majority of the day. They played video games, eventually finding out that Terra was quite the gamer, as she had beaten the other two in every game they had played, much to Kyle's chagrin. Although she wouldn't admit it, Kyle was proud of her strengths, and in a day she was suddenly second banana to her own child. She took a little solace that the only person to best her yet was the fruit of her own loins. After a couple of hours of games the two introduced Terra into her very first chick flick, a story about a woman torn between two lovers, one of them she was physically attracted to, the other challenged her mentally. She finally found that the whole time she was searching for the combination of the two, and found it in her best friend. After the movie, they went and had dinner, where Terra once again ate enough for three. Nadia eventually left the mother and daughter to take care of her own matters. She still needed to find a way to clean out her bed. There wasn't a lot of different ways to get supplies in here, and Tom and Yoshi would almost certainly notice anything that she wanted to receive. Kyle and Terra meanwhile went back to their room, where Kyle told Terra most of her life story, at least the parts she had found interesting. Where she was born, her childhood, her friends, school, graduation, her life serving in the marines, and how she got to where she was now. They went over her photo books, as well as videos of her first day of school, her graduation ceremony, her sister's wedding where she was the maid of honor, her graduation from the military school, and her return home. Tom and Yoshi didn't have nearly as peaceful of a night. The two spent hours trying every way they could to find out what exactly was going on. The only thing that made sense was that somehow Terra's nanos were picking up and broadcasting information, but until they found out what it was they couldn't tell any of the three the information. Yoshi took off his glasses and rubbed his eyes, before letting out a yawn. "Don't get up, it's my turn to get some coffee," Tom said, getting to his feet. "I could use some time to stretch my legs anyways." Tom felt like a zombie as he paced the hallways, lurching forward towards the cafeteria. Even having had a full night of sleep last night and after having a chance to mediate he still was overtaxing his body. And he noticed all the telltale signs, the constant weariness, the dull headache, and a lack of concentration. It was his fault, he was the one who believed him and Yoshi capable of doing everything themselves. With Nadia to serve as both a physician and project manager, the number of people who had to know about the project could be kept to a minimum. But in instances such as now, he wished he had a whole think tank he could delegate responsibilities to. Tom silently went to the coffee machine, pouring in the grinds before turning it on. "Hey Tom," Terra said, making Tom jump about half a foot in the air at the unexpected voice. In his exhaustion, he didn't even look around the room to see if anyone was there. "Oh, uh hey Terra, sorry, you startled me there. What are you up to?" Tom asked, trying to shift the focus off of his tense state of mind. "I was hungry and came down to get dessert," Terra said, digging a fork into a slice of double chocolate cake. "Where's your mom?" Tom asked, looking around. "She had something to do, said it would take her a little while. So I came down here," she said. "I had some questions about earlier," she said, pointing her fork in the general direction of his greenhouse. "About meditating." "Sure, what do you want to know?" he responded, too tired to bother with false pretenses. "You said that you meditate to help think, how do you do it?" Terra asked. "Well, like I said before, by focusing on a single mental application, I try to achieve mindfulness," Tom said. "Once I learned how to achieve stability in calming mindfulness, I begin attempting insightful meditation." "Does it really help?" Terra asked. Tom smiled, as he watched the coffee finish brewing, "I ask myself that sometimes. I'm sorry, I'm just working myself a little too hard now," he said. "But where did you learn how to do that?" Terra asked. "Well, a friend of my father was a Buddhist monk, and he taught me a number of practices when he would visit," Tom said, thinking back to his good friend. "While I'm not really Buddhist, I do find the mental training and meditation to be extremely helpful." "And it really helps you to figure things out?" Terra asked, completely engaged in the conversation. Even as tired as he was, Tom couldn't help his ego. He had always loved to teach, to mold young minds towards science. "Well, it's not like a light switch, I don't just meditate and suddenly I gain insight about the world. It takes long periods of disciplining one's mind. Even when one mediates, there's no guarantee that they are willing to find what they are looking for," he said, noticing Terra seemed disheartened by the prospect of failure. "But when one succeeds, the rewards can be incalculable. Buddhists believe they can shed the suffering of their lives and achieve nirvana, which they believe is the ultimate state of being. It's when they shed off all material desire, along with the feelings associated with it such as greed, hatred, and delusion as to the nature of the life. Some reports show that people have even been able to use mental discipline to affect their bodies." "Really?" Terra asked, her interest fixated on Tom's impromptu lecture. "Oh yeah, there have been reports since the late twentieth century that people have used mental discipline to assist healing from injury or sickness. There have even been instances where meditating has helped people remove cancer from their bodies, although the veracity of those reports are disputed." "So how would one affect their body like that?" Terra asked, committing every word Tom said to memory. "Well, historically, they would envision the cancer in their body, usually as a large black lump. As they meditated, they would envision the cancerous lump slowly shrinking and shrinking until it disappeared. After weeks of doing this for hours a day, reports state that the cancer had miraculously disappeared." Tom said. "Although, it would take a great amount of mental discipline as well as exerted time to achieve the results. If you are interested in something, you have full access to the computers, we have one in the rec room and your mother has one on her desk in your room." "Thanks Tom, I think I'll do that," Terra said, her mind racing with the possibilities. This might be just what she was seeking... "Alright, well I have to get back to the lab. Tell your mom I said hi, and give me a call if you feel sick or just need to talk to me," Tom said, grabbing the pot of coffee before leaving. "Take it easy," she said as he left. Terra finished her cake, but her mind still worked with different ideas. As she went to her room, she decided that she would have to try meditating in the future the next time she got a chance. Opening the door, Terra watched as her mom exited the bathroom, carrying a strange device and a container of white liquid. "What's that?" Terra asked, confused. "Oh, uh, well ever since you were born I started lactating. My breasts began secreting milk, to feed you. But since you grew so fast, there wasn't a need for the milk, so I had to use this device to extract it, otherwise my boobs get sore," Kyle said. "So I'm supposed to drink this?" Terra asked, examining the contents of the plastic container. "Well, yes, I mean babies drink breast milk," Kyle started, watching as her daughter downed the whole pint container in seconds, "But you don't uh, have to do that. Nadia said I should just keep track of the milk because it contains the nanos," Kyle said. "Where did you go anyway?" "I was hungry, so I got some dessert," Terra said. "We're going to have to set some ground rules young lady," Kyle said, smiling as she imitated her mother, down to the waggling finger. "I can't have you eating snacks all day long." "It wasn't all day long," Terra replied. "It was a joke honey," Kyle said as she went over to the computer by the desk. Turning it on she started her communications program. "Every week me and mom talk to each other. Of course now I can't send visuals to her, but I thought you might want to see her in real life. Not just in pictures and videos. Huh." she said, checking a few settings on the program. "Maybe not, it doesn't look like she's there. That's strange, she almost never misses it." Kyle said, concerned for a moment. She checked the news feeds, there was nothing important being broadcast, just the same old news. Even the sports and weather were being updated regularly, so the comm link must still be working. "Oh well, I guess we're gonna have to do it some other time." "I'm kind of tired anyway," Terra said. "Yeah, you've been through a lot today. Well, I could use some shuteye too. I'll see you in the morning babe," Kyle said, before hugging her daughter. (This file was created by SomeRandomBastard (at) yahoo (dot) com, so send all flames there.
