Summary

Larry, an eighteen-year-old virgin, manages to get himself invited to a strip poker game.

Commentary

There isn't any sex in the first three chapters of this story, but I still found them somewhat arousing. On a slightly different note, the story would probably flow more smoothly (and be more arousing) if it were not for the extreme amount of detail. The author seems to feel that it is necessary to describe every hand of poker that his characters play. It got to the point where I felt like I was watching a sporting event, rather than reading an erotic story. Some details are necessary to set the mood, but too many details result in the details dominating the story.

It would also help if the story had been proofread a little more closely. Although, considering the length of the story there aren't all that many misspelled words.

Despite finding the first three chapters only somewhat arousing and being distracted by the huge amount of detail I enjoyed them enough to give them a Very Good, under Subjective Analysis. This is probably because I liked the premise of the story.

If you are looking for stroke material then I would advise you look elsewhere.

Summary

Larry participates in yet another strip poker game. His relationship with Mary continues to evolve.

Commentary

There is very little sex in chapters 4 - 6, but I still found them somewhat arousing. As with the first three chapters I felt that the author focused a bit too much on the mechanics of the poker games. I did not find the glut of details quite as distracting, this time around; possibly because I expected them.

These three chapters would also have been an easier read if they had been proofread more carefully. In some cases it was a matter of misspelled words. In others it was a matter of words being misplaced or verbs being in the wrong tense.

Despite the fact that there is a little bit of sex in this story, it is still extremely tame, for ASS.

I enjoyed this segment of this story about as much as I did the last one. The story has continued to develop. The author's depiction of Larry is realistic enough. It is not A-list material, but I am enjoying it enough to give it a Very Good.

Summary

Mary decides to organize a strip poker game. Larry and Mary both participate in the strip poker game. They also have a side bet going.

Commentary

In chapters 7, 8, and 9 the story continues to develop. Some new characters are introduced. Mary learns something about Larry's background that she did not know before. I would not say that there is a lot of tension in this story, but there is some and I like it.

I did not find the details of the poker games quite as distracting as I did in the first three chapters. This may be because the author is doing a better job working them into the story. It may also be because I have become accustomed to the author's style.

I enjoyed these three chapters enough to give them a Very Good. It is nothing over the top. It is rather mild, but I enjoyed it.

Commentary

This is not the best story I have ever read, but I did enjoy it. It is long. I took three nights to read it all. I do not recommend trying to read this entire story in one sitting. The details of the poker games, if nothing else, will bog you down.

The author definitely has an affinity for the mechanics of poker. I do wish that he had integrated the poker details with the rest of the story a bit more smoothly. There is nothing wrong with wanting to give the reader a feel for what the stakes are and how the game is played, but getting too technical can turn some people off.

In all fairness to the author these are just the first nine chapters. From his notes it appears that he is currently working on the next few chapters. The story may not be complete, but for the most part I believe it is both readable and enjoyable.
