Some historical inaccuracies that I deliberately created, for the sake of the gay plot:
Roman curse has double meaning. According to the main character's view, Diego Fortes, Roman curse is Roman-sanctioned Christianity which eventually led to Spanish Inquisition and the death of his gay lover. But Roman curse can also mean a tablet of curse, used by pre-Christian Romans to put an evil spell on their enemies.
There was no record about the real Bassianus' being gay or having gay sex slaves. I made Bassianus gay in order to add more sexual theme.
In my version, Bassianus had a strong military force, complete with a general, several centurions, and a handful of soldiers. It was important for BDSM scene. In the reality, Bassianus probably only had several bodyguards.
I personally created the idea of the Roman torture device simply dubbed as the tube. It was inspired by twisted medieval sex torture device called Crocodile Shears. However, there was no historical record, that I'm aware of, about the Roman using similar torture method to male prisoners' erection.
