After School
The following day I got the twins off to school and concentrated on my thesis for university. I was totally engrossed in my work and had lost all track of time when the door bell rang. Slightly distracted I opened the door. It was Glenn. He looked really smart in his school uniform. Flawlessly white shirt, burgundy sweater, striped tie, black trousers with razor-sharp creases and mirror-polished shoes. His bright smile lit up the whole neighbourhood and I felt myself smiling back like a mad person.
"Wow, you certainly look smart," I said and indicated for him to get in.
"Thank you, Kathy. You look good too." He gave me a heartfelt hug.
I shook my head. I wore an old, threadbare, sleeveless T-shirt completely shapeless from much too many washes and a pair of loose slacks — absolutely nothing to write home about.
He placed his shoes neatly by the door and followed me into the living room. "What are you doing?" he said, looking at the papers scattered around the room.
"I'm working on my university thesis."
"What are you studying?"
"Computer Science."
"No!"
"Yes!"
"Wow!"
"My problem is that I'm a lousy speller and I can't organise my thoughts properly. And it takes me forever to proofread my papers."
Glenn looked at me eagerly. "I can help you. I'm good at spelling."
I smiled at him. "Are you sure? It's rather high level. I'm doing my Ph.D."
He sat down at the table where I was working. "Let me have a look."
"Alright." I turned the laptop around so he could read it.
He started reading intently. After a while he looked up at me and said, "Can I do changes in this?" He pointed at the screen.
I nodded.
He started to type frantically. "This goes here," he mumbled. "And out with this, you've said that already." He moved the mouse around, clicked and typed for the better part of half an hour. Eventually he looked up with a smug smile. "What do you think about the introduction now?" He turned the laptop back to me.
I read the introduction carefully and felt quite elated. He was good. No, not good. He was an absolute genius.
"How on Earth did you do this?" I shook my head. "I mean, it's perfect. It exactly expresses what I
tried to say. And it's organised too. I ..."
I didn't know what to say. I pulled him around the table and hugged him, crying like mad. I kissed him all over his face but when I kissed his lips, we both froze.
He gently pushed my head away and started to smooth my hair and caress my face. "Come on," he said. "It's only words."
"Yes, but it's just ... Just so much better than I ever could."
He smiled at me. "Yeah, right. It
is your words. Mostly."
"Pwah!" I said. "You've improved it by several orders of magnitude."
He looked slightly bashful. "Thanks."
Just then, the front door crashed open and Jody and Lawrence stormed in.
"Close the door, please," I said. "And leave your shoes in the hall."
"Can't we say hello first?" Lawrence was hugging me and Glenn too as he was there already. "Hi Glenn," he said. "What are you doing here?"
"He's helping me with my thesis."
"No!" Jody said when she came to hug us all.
"Yes! And now go and get changed!" I gave both a swat on their bottoms. "Git!"
"That's not fair. Why do we have to get changed and not Glenn?"
"Well, Glenn hasn't any changing clothes here so it would be a bit difficult for him to change."
"I'll bring some for tomorrow," Glenn said.
"Come on, you don't have to," I said.
"No, but I would actually prefer to change. It saves my school clothes. Less to wash and less to iron."
"Fine with me," I said as the twins scooted upstairs to change. "What about your homework?"
"Oh yes. Can I borrow a computer to find some facts on the Internet?"
"Of course you can. What are you looking for?"
"I've got an essay about a Victorian hero. And I was thinking about a nurse or something like that."
"You mean like Florence Nightingale, The Lady with the Lamp?"
He smiled to me. "Something like that. I had Mary Seacole in mind, though."
"Mary Seacole?"
"Yeah. She was black and helped during the Crimean War."
"Wow," I said. "I haven't heard of her at all."
"Not many have," he said. "But that's history for you." He winked.
"Mum, I haven't got any clean knickers," Jody called from the top of the stairs. I turned my head and there she stood in only a vest and a bare bum.
Glenn looked there too and quickly turned his head away. I saw him readjust his dick out of the corner of my eye.
"There's a whole batch in the utility room. I'll get you some."
"Don't bother," she said. "I'll get them myself." She ran down the stairs and walked past the two of us, showing off her charms as best she could to Glenn, who didn't know what to do with his eyes.
"Sorry, Glenn," I said. "I think she wants to impress you. We are not too fuzzed about clothing hereabouts."
"It's alright," he said. "It's just ... I'm not really used to seeing ... other children ... half naked."
"Don't think more about it," I said and gave him a hug. "Let me see if you can borrow Lawrence's computer."
We went upstairs where Lawrence was half-way through changing, dressed in his underwear only.
"Hi Lawy, can Glenn borrow your computer for school work?"
"Of course he can," Lawrence said. "I'll turn it on."
"OK, while it's booting, I will go down and create an account for you on the server."
"You've got your own server?" Glenn said.
"Yeah, I'm a computer buff, you know." I smiled. "Your username will be 'Glenn' and your temporary password will be 'thankyou' in one word and lower case. You'll be asked to change it the first time you log in."
"OK," Glenn said. "Thanks."
I went downstairs again and created Glenn in the LDAP directory. "OK, you can log in now," I shouted upstairs.
"Thanks," Glenn shouted back.
Jody looked disappointed, when she came waltzing back, still half naked. "Where's Glenn?"
"He's upstairs in Lawrence's room doing homework. And you need do yours too."
"Oh, OK. Thanks." She ran upstairs.
I kept working on my thesis and stopped just past five o'clock. Time for dinner. I went out into the kitchen just as Glenn came down his hands full of printouts.
"I've got a bunch of pages about Mary Seacole, I'm going to read them and write my essay later tonight. I'd better go home and do some dinner."
"OK, thanks again for your help with my thesis. You
are a genius." He seemed to blush. "Really!" I kissed him again. On the mouth. This time I am sure he blushed.
"Thanks. Bye Kathy." He shouted towards the stairs, "Bye Jody. Bye Lawrence."
There was a couple of faint 'bye's from upstairs.
"See you tomorrow then. After school?" I said.
"Yes, definitely. Your computers are awesome. Not the slow junk from the library. And they don't allow me on half the sites I want to go to either. Bye then." Tentatively, he put his mouth forward for another kiss and I definitely couldn't let that pass so I kissed him back.
"Bye Glenn."
"Bye."
"When you come tomorrow, just let yourself in, the door is unlocked."
"OK." He ran across the short distance between our houses and let himself in with a last wave to me.
I quickly did the dinner. After eating it, I checked the twins' homework and got them to bed before immersing myself in my thesis again.
