[What has gone before]

In book one, Thief of Essence, a young woman named Jillian finds and uses a spell book passed on by her grandmother to use the life essence of the Royal Sorcerer, Rhys Lysander, to become a mage herself. At the end of book one, Rhys and Jillian learn of a rogue mage that is operating in the eastern reaches of Anora. The Emperor, Tomas, dispatches them to resolve the problem.
In book two, The Wizard of Zovoe, Jillian and Rhys track down and kill the Wizard of Zovoe and his summoned demoness servant, Azarea. From the body of the Wizard they reclaim an amulet. The amulet contains part of the life force of one of the forest guardians of Anora. In this case it contains part of the essence of Elon, Guardian of the Wyr. Erdore, Guardian of the Tong forest and sister of Elon, tells them her sister was killed and her spirit imprisoned in three objects, of which the amulet was one. The amulet contained her uncertainty, and the other two contained her sexuality and will.

Rhys and Jillian are headed east to find the Wizard's Master.

[1]
After far too short a time in Kar Tosk, Rhys and Jillian departed the capitol in a trading ship, the Tireless, bound for the Samur. Their passage was to take almost two weeks as they transited the Sea of Zelon. Passing well to the North of the damned cities of Shreen and Daugon, if all went well they would land at the port of Vigen just before the late summer monsoon season kicked up.

Jillian, the large busted sorceress apprenticed to the Royal Sorcerer to the Emperor of Anora, clung to the railing as another wave rolled the ship. Her stomach rolled with it. After nearly a week underway on the galleon she was quite tired of the motion of the ocean and was very ready to put her feet upon solid ground once more. Her lover and mentor, Rhys Lysander, the aforementioned Royal Sorcerer, stood next to her, holding the railing but easily moving with the ship. I hate traveling by sea. Isn't there some better, magical way we could get to the Samur? the slightly seasick sorceress asked.

Of course, but there are problems with teleportation spells. Besides, how do you know if you hate sea travel if this is but your first time?

She forced a smile over her upset stomach. There are many things I am certain I do not like even if I have not tried them. And now that I have traveled by sea, I know I do not like it. She clutched the railing again. And what problems could there be that would make such a journey worthwhile?

Well, teleportation requires one to be certain of the, uh, landing zone. After all, if you do not know what is in the place where you intend to land, you could end up inside a rock, or a tree, and that would end your trip very quickly.

Jillian sighed, not happy about the continuous waves. You'd think that after more than a hundred years you would know someone in the Samur.

Rhys laughed, Well, I might have at one time, but things are different now. He noticed Jillian's stance and moved to distract her from the ocean. The Captain says it should be calmer tonight. She did not look reassured. Try not to think, just roll with it.

You have said that since we left port. Can't you cast a spell or something?

Can't you?

Oh! Jillian held onto Rhys and tried to blank out the movement. Maybe, just maybe, she was getting it. So, what did you mean by 'at one time'?

The Samur are a race of warrior women that took control of the continent well over a hundred years ago. I do not know all the details, but in the years that followed, my contacts over there just ceased to be one at a time.

As if they were being killed?

Or something like that. Rhys turned and looked toward the horizon, judged the sun to be just an hour or so from setting. It seemed clear enough that magic was being snuffed out in the Samur, and I never returend. After all, the rest of the world, and Anora specifically, was quite welcoming. No need to go to a place that wasn't.

Jillian nodded. Is that the reason we left our staves behind? Rhys nodded, she continued, And the women warriors?

From the reports I get, the same family is still in power, a true matriarchal aristocracy. Only women of the royal line can take the throne.

Jillian thought his tale ended a bit abruptly. Something you aren't telling me?

Only rumors. As I said, I have not been there since before magic-users were ran out of the place.

What about the rumors?

It is likely the Captain knows something more, given that he visits there on a regular basis.

Jillian, suddenly feeling better, pulled at the strings of her bodice and pushed up her tits. I wonder if the Captain's invitation to join him for dinner still stands?

Rhys looked at his lover's cleavage, now prominently displayed, and grinned. We are at sea. You are the only woman for miles. Of course his offer will still stand.

[2]
The Captain was, as expected, all to happy to have guests for dinner. Rhys and Jillian dressed in the best clothes they had, but they still felt under dressed when they entered the Captain's cabin that evening. The Captain and the First Mate were dressed in brightly colored clothes, resplendent would not have been too much to say. They even matched, after a fashion, almost like they were wearing uniforms.

Come in, come in, said the Captain as they passed through the door. Compared to the cramped quarters found in the rest of the ship, the Captain's cabin was spacious. Clever use of space, with an alcove bed and desk, resulted in open space that allowed for a table that could seat up to six. The table was covered with a delicate looking cloth, upon which were silver bowls of fruit, an ornate dinner service, and two very old looking bottles of wine.

I apologize for our appearance, Captain. We had no idea dinner would be so formal, Jillian said.

The Captain and the Mate laughed and waved off her remark. The Mate pulled out a chair and offered it to her. Please, do not concern yourself with such things. It is rare that we get to dine with guests. So when we do we cannot have them fretting over such paltry things as appearances.

Jillian took her seat and then the others joined her at the table. The Captain poured wine for all of them and raised his glass in a toast. To the sea, may she treat us kindly.

To the sea, they repeated.

Now, the Captain said, we have a little while before the cooks are ready. What would you like to talk about?

Jillian did not hesitate. This one, she pointed a thumb toward Rhys, has been tight-lipped about our destination. I was wondering if you might be a little more forthcoming.

The Mate guffawed. The Captain smiled. Why is it everyone thinks information is for free? Rhys shrugged, looked away.

Jillian drew her shoulders back, pushing out her bosom. Perhaps a trade of stories then? she asked.

The Captain chuckled. Well then, suppose you lead with what business you have in the Samur, and then I will have some idea of what to tell you.

Taking a sip of wine, Rhys began. You must have heard of the troubles in Om and Zovoe.

The Captain nodded. Of course. We happened to be in port at that time. Wait a minute. He looked at Rhys and Jillian and shook his head. Ethan, we have members of the Imperial Court on board and we did not even know it.

The Mate looked at the Captain, then smacked his head. Of all the blind ass luck! Figure the odds that we would be in Zovoe to hear the stories and then end up in Kar Tosk in time to pick you up as passengers.

Yes, Rhys said, imagine the odds.

The Captain raised an eyebrow. Now, now. No need to become suspicious. You've been aboard for almost two weeks. If anyone were up to no good you would surely know by now. When Rhys remained silent, he continued. So your business in the Samur is related to that business in Zovoe. That will prove interesting.

What makes you say that? Jillian asked.

Oh, any number of reasons. First is the general absence of magic in that land. Second is what you might encounter as you travel there.

It has been a great many years since I was there, but what you say about magic is most certainly true. Do you know any more about that? Rhys asked.

Not much to say except you just won't find it. No potions, no elixirs, no wizards. And any we might be carrying cannot leave the ship.

And how do they know?

I don't know the answer to that, but each ship is met by the local authority upon docking. They search the ship, tell you the basic rules, and leave. It's pretty simpleand non-threatening. Provided you comply.

That was something I wanted to know more about, Jillian said. I have heard that the country is ruled by women. Do they run everything?

The Mate spoke up. It's not exactly like that. The royal family rules from Samurkand in the center of the island. Although they rule the Samur, their presence is small in most areas. Each of the cities, well, the coastal cities at least, has a small garrison to maintain the Imperial presence. There are typically a few of the women warriors, and the rest are jongul.

Jongul?

The Captain swallowed the bit of apple he was chewing. There is no direct translation. It means anything from servant to slave to conscript.

Jillian looked confused. Can you explain that?

Not very well, I am afraid, the Mate said. There are male and female warriors, but the women are always in charge. The men who serve with them are conscripted from the cities and towns all over the Samur.

Well, the Captain said as he relaxed back in his chair, conscript might not be the right word.

That's what they say, said the Mate.

Aye, true enough, but that isn't the way of it.

Do tell? said Jillian.

The men and women who become jongul are not taken against their will. Perhaps it was that way many years ago, but now they are all volunteers. The Captain laughed, continued, To an outsider it appears that both sides, the populace and the Samur, like to keep up the pretense.

Jillian furrowed her brow, confused. And why would that be?

The Captain looked at Rhys, Do you not know? Or have you not told her? Rhys held up his hands.

What? Jillian said.

The Mate took a gulp of wine. Now, don't misunderstand. The Samur can be as violent a place as any other, and the warriors are as fierce and prideful as any you have ever met. He paused.

But--

But they really, really like sex.

Oh? Is that so strange?

I am not sure you would believe me if I told you some of the things I have heard. Still, you need to remember that the presence of the Samur is limited inside the towns and cities. They do not wish to be overbearing. Everyone knows they are in charge, so they do not see a reason to throw it in your face.

I don't suppose you could tell me anything more?

Of course, but now it is time for dinner, and time for you to tell me something.

[3]
Jillian wanted to ask more questions over dinner, but as she was now feeling so much better, she found herself famished and unable to stop herself from gorging on the delicious meal the ship served up. She was astonished at the quality of the food. This is marvelous, do you eat like this every night?

The Mate laughed. Oh no. I suppose we could afford it, but generally we don't take the time. Besides, if the weather is crappy, which is often, it is too difficult for the cooks. But on days like today, when the weather and the company combine for a good evening, well, the Captain splurges.

Jillian sat back from her plate, finally sated and disturbed that her dress was now tight. She untied the bodice and loosened its grip on her breasts. The three men at the table closely observed. She smiled back at them. Now, we were to tell you something I believe?

The Mate coughed and tore his eyes away from her cleavage. How is Zovoe related to the Samur?

Rhys sat back, equally as pleased with dinner as he had ever been by a meal in Kar Tosk. My compliments to the chef, he said. The Captain nodded in reply. The wizard we killed near Zovoe was just a pawn. We have reason to believe his master is in the Samur.

Not a bad choice. The complete lack of magic might make it an easy place to get entrenched, the Captain said.

We know that he has possession of two magical items of great power, a ring and a sword.

The Mate coughed on some wine, You expect us to believe that fairy tale?

The Captain laughed, It is a good tale though, all the better because no one has been able to confirm it or deny it.

Rhys and Jillian laughed quietly. Oh, but we can. We took the amulet off the wizard's body just last month, and I saw all three of them together many years ago.

They really exist? the Mate said.

Oh, they exist all right. Have you heard anything of them?

The tale is common enough, but I have never heard anything specific. Let alone new, the Captain said. You? he asked the Mate, who shook his head. Now that was a fine piece to add, if not much of a story.

Jillian refilled her glass. Now, what else were you going to say about the Samur.

This might be a bit embarrassing, the Mate said.

Rhys laughed. You needn't worry about that. Jillian shot daggers at him with her eyes.

I hardly know where to begin, the Mate said. He took a deep breath. The Samur control the men among the jongul with sex.

Is that so different than other parts of the world? Jillian asked.

Well said. But in this case I mean it literally. The Samur and the women jongul control every aspect of sex. I have heard they have outrageous sexual appetites and also place some amount of social status on the results of sexual contests. So, although the men may not be in charge--

They are not complaining. Jillian finished for him.

Exactly.

Is this the case among the general public as well?

No, only among the samaan.

Which is?

Sorry, another word without a translation. The samaan is the army, the police force, the imperial force that guards and protects the Samur. As I said, within the cities you will only see a few of the women attached to the samaan, so most of them must be out in the countryside.

Fucking for social status, Jillian said.

Amongst other things.

And you believe this?

You don't have to believe me, just like we don't have to believe that your magical objects are real. But if you find yourself among the samaan, I hope you are ready for it.

They enjoyed a glass of port, and then retired for the evening.

[4]
After dinner Rhys and Jillian retired to their cabin. Entering, Rhys took her in his arms and held her to his chest.

She sighed, It's actually quite pleasant when the seas are calm. She moved his hands to her breasts, and he began unlacing her dress as he nuzzled her neck. As he worked to disrobe her, she reached back and felt for his cock. She found it, hard and ready.

She moaned as his hands pushed her dress from her shoulders and bared her tits. What do you make of the stories of the Samur?

Well, I may not have been completely forthright earlier this evening.

Oh? She turned to face him and gently pushed him toward the lone chair in the room. He sat, but managed to keep his hands on her tits. She knelt, and parted his robes to free his prick.

Rhys inhaled sharply. It's been many days since you've felt up to this.

Mmmm, she murmured around the cock in her mouth. She pulled off him for a moment. You talk, I'll suck.

I have heard tales of the women warriors of the Samur for some years. The stories are sometimes so fantastic that they strain credibility. He looked down, saw her looking up at him, her mouth full of his cock as she rubbed her tongue on him. I am certain, however, that the women do engage in such contests, and I am certain if we end up amongst the, what was the word?

Jillian pulled off him with a pop, stroked him as she spoke, The samaan?

Ahh, he moaned as she took him back in her mouth. Yes, the samaan.

Jillian stood and shrugged off her dress, then she straddled the chair, aimed Rhys' cock, and sat down on it. I've missed this.

Rhys bounced her a couple times. Me too. So to finish, if we end up in the samaan or among the Samur specifically, we have to be flexible in how we respond.

Jillian squeezed his cock with her pussy. Flexible? What did you have in mind?

You might have to participate in such contests and I might also be involved. Would that bother you?

So we both might end up having sex with a number of people, all for the sake of our quest?

Rhys nodded, That is likely.

Does that bother you? Jillian lifted herself off of him, stood, turned, and bent over the bed. She wiggled her butt at him. He moved behind her and entered her easily. He began to fuck her slowly.

After enjoying a few strokes, she said, Should I take that as a no? In response, he picked up his pace a little, stroking slightly faster within her. Hmmm, I have always wanted to fuck two men at the same time.

Rhys reached under her and held her tits, slammed into her. She exhaled loudly. Slut, he said, laughing as he pulled back on her tits as he slammed into her hips, pulling her as deeply onto him as he could.

Mmm. Fuck me jongul boy, she moaned.

Rhys grabbed a handful of her long hair and pulled her head back. Putting his other hand on her hip, he changed to short, rapid strokes and quickly felt himself nearing his peak.

Imagine me fucking those men, and you fucking those women. Rhys laughed, and suddenly Jillian knew she was going to cum, she strained to move even as her hair held her in place. Her hands tightened on the sheets. I'm cumming, she moaned loudly.

Rhys felt her tighten around him and he began to flood her with his cum. He groaned loudly, mindlessly thrusting his hips forward as he tried subconsciously to get his seed as deep into her as he could. Spurt after spurt he pumped into her as she spasmed around him, each driving the other higher. Soon, all to soon, it was over. As Rhys relaxed his grip on her, she slumped forward and lay down on the bed, feeling his spend running down her thighs as she drifted to sleep.
