Mom says that you won't be home from work for a long time, so we should write you letters about how things are going. I’ll try to be the man of the house like you said, but I don’t know what you want me to do. Nothing interesting has happened since you left, so I guess I’ll tell you more in a day or 2.

I know you miss me, I miss you too, but this travel job is a way to make some good money and impress the people who just bought the company I work for. They said that they liked my work with computers, and they said that I’m their kind of man, so they wanted me to come and impress them. I have to demonstrate some new ideas I had and show them a test run, but I will be home just as soon as we get the results.
The company has been very generous and gave me all the resources I need for the experiment, and I was allowed to send you some new computers that the company designed. They said to think of it as an apology for keeping me from home for so long, and that if there’s anything you need to just ask. The computers are part of a new project we are working on, and you will love what they can do. I will be sending updates and some new stuff for the computers as the project advances, and you must be sure to install them as soon as you get them. I have sent a computer for the family, and I think Josh is old enough at 12 to have his own computer.

Progress Report from Dr. Zachary Adams to the office of Sebastian Clark -
It is an honor to be invited to work for your cooperation. As you realized after you bought out my former employer, I have been working on this project in secret for the past 7 years, but with your support, I have made significant progress in the 3 months I have spent working for you.
This first live test focuses on being cautious and slowly altering the subjects morals, so as not to draw attention to the experiment. If all goes to plan we will be conducting further experiments to explore the effects of the alterations under different circumstances, followed by testing of more aggressive techniques. The program has been put on the computers I sent to my family, and will be doing it’s work as long as the computers are running.
I never had dreams of anything outside my own home, but I share your dream to change the world, and I do not believe the men you put on my team share our views. They are all highly qualified for this project, but I fear they do not possess the restraint to keep their urges in check long enough for your dream to be realized. I am hereby requesting you allow me to continue my work without an official team, and that you allow me to pull resources from other departments when necessary to the continuation of the project.
Dr. Adams,
I am glad you share my dream for the world, and I will grant your request. However, you only have two weeks to show that you can institute changes, or I am putting your team back to work. The follow up experiments will be to much work for one man to do, so if you prove to me that you’re the man for the job, then I will allow you to build your own team. Don’t let me down Doctor, show me I was right to trust you with this.
Mr. Adams smiled to himself as he remembered how the project had been put together. It was different than he had told his family, but it was by no means a lie, he just left out the goal of his project. The program that had been put on the computers he sent were to be the first 'live test' of his new 'programing' project the higher ups had dreamt up. His old bosses had focused primarily on subliminal programing to help train soldiers, his specialty had been in designing more efficient methods of programming troops. He thought the higher ups were wasting the potential of their product, using it to train troops faster. He had secretly been working on this very project for a few years, but with illegal nature of his plans, he had to take precautions so he wouldn't get caught.
After the new bosses bought the company, Mr. Adams was brought in to talk to some of the heads of the R&D department about his side project. It took him a minute to get over the shock of being discovered, and realize that they had put him with R&D, instead of handing him over to the cops. Once he was over the shock, they got down to business, resulting in him heading up a new team to perfect his ideas.
While his personal plans for the program had never expanded beyond his own family, and he had never intended it in a malicious way, he got the feeling some of his coworkers planned to use the project to create their own herams. Mr. Adams had intended to turn his family into an incestus sex party, and was willing to give the perverts their slaves if it meant he could make his paradise, but he wasn't about to hand over the key to ultimate mind enslavement. He might have been a pervert, but atleast he believed people deserved freedom of thought.
The newest project was designed to prioritize security and manipulation over complete control. While the end result was intended to be essentially an override of the targets beliefs and remove inhibitions, this wouldn't make them slaves, and would leave their base personality mostly intact. Mr. Adams had designed this to have no chance of getting caught, but he would have no basis for judging its effectiveness until after its first live test was complete. The first and strongest instruction in the programing was to enjoy using whatever was being used to program them, this would make the target subject themselves to more and longer doses as the experiment. The second instruction was to remove resistance and inhibitions, allowing later influence to be more easily accepted.

Dear Dad,
Mom already had the computers all set up when I got home from school, and when she showed me mine and read the letter, I was so excited I took it and used it all night long. I know you and mom don’t like me to be up past 10, but I was just so excited. It came with lots of stuff already installed, and there was this one game I really liked, where you get to play as a hero from different cultures mythology, and the goal is to surpass the famous heros! I chose to be a minor Greek god, and my goal is to surpass Zeus! I got bored of the game after a few hours so I wrote this letter, but now I think I’ll go find some more stuff on the computer.

Mommy says I should start with thanking you for the computers so I will. I really liked the computer you sent us! Mommy and I had lots of fun playing games once we got it all set up, we almost forgot about my bath time! Mommy says the computer is your way of saying sorry for being gone for so long, and as long as you come back soon I guess I can except it. Mommy and I found lots of stuff, and I want to find more, but mommy says I can only use the computer with her.
Now mommy says I can talk about yesterdays playdate with April. We were supposed to meet up at the park and play, but April’s daddy couldn’t bring her and her mommy didn’t have time, so her mommy just dropped her off here to play. I asked mommy why we couldn’t go to the park, and she said it was because Mr. Washington is a good for nothing drunk who only looks after kids for money from the government. Mommy says I shouldn’t have said that, but she still typed it so I don’t think she’s upset. We were both sad that we couldn’t go to the park, but we played some games in my room, and mommy let us watch a movie! And after the computers arrived mommy let us both play with her. When the playdate was supposed to be over, mommy said it wasn’t safe to leave April alone with her daddy drunk off his ass like that. Mommy says I shouldn’t say words like ass because it’s inappropriate, and I think this time she’s mad.
Mommy told me to continue with where I was before I said what mommy said about Mr. Washington. Mommy said it wasn’t safe to leave April at her house, so she could stay with us for supper and go home with her mommy. After we ate we got to play on the new computer for an hour before Aprils mommy came to pick her up. It was a fun day.
I want to say some more, but mommy says I’ve talked enough for today and to say goodbye. Please hurry home daddy, I miss you.
I’ll have to talk to Alice about not copying us later, but Bill was drunk off his ass. You should have heard him when he called to cancel the park trip, he could barely string two sentences together. I couldn’t just cancel the playdate, so I offered to have them here.
We all love the computers, and if these are some of the perks of the job, I’m glad you took it, but I reserve the right to take that back if you’re gone too long.
