K's Diary. . .

Tuesday, April 22 2003

It's Tuesday afternoon now and I have nothing important to do so I sat down to write in my diary. I came home late from work and after having Nikki over for the weekend it feels lonely and empty, more so because it was Easter.

The weekend before the last one we had a great time because the weather was much nicer. It was warm and sunny so we went out a lot. First on Saturday after I picked her up, we went to the local organic shop to buy some groceries. I love shopping with Nikki because we like similar things most of the times and because she's very unpredictable and fun to be around. For example, that morning in the shop while I was picking up some apples, she started talking to a person who works in the shop. I think she was telling him about what her pet turtle likes to eat and she charmed him so much that he gave her some free fruit. She loves talking to people and she can make everyone talk to her. It's sometimes really funny to watch her and how she gets everyone's attention.

Later we carried our groceries back home because we didn't take the car and then we had to hurry up because she had soccer practice in a half an hour. We drove to the place where she plays soccer and I watched her run around and kick the ball with other little girls for an hour and a half. She almost scored one goal close to the end and after the game she came running to me all puffed up. I gave her a little peck on the lips and then she introduced me to two other girls on her team. They were about her age. One was called Helen and the other one Ina. Ina was the prettier one. She had her black hair tied in two little braids just the way I like them. She kind of looked like Nikki because I made Nikki's hair look the same way only her hair is blond and Ina's hair is black. They were so sweet standing next to each other!

So we were there sitting on the benches and talking about the game. They were excited and very proud because their team won 2:1 and Ina scored one goal herself. Then Nikki asked the girls if they could come with us but they both said they had to go home with their parents so we waved bye to them and left.

Next stop was a little nursery out of town where we stopped. I wanted to buy some new plants for my balcony because some of them need repotting in the spring. Nikki enjoyed choosing plants with me. I let her pick some flowers that she really liked and then we carried all the plants to the car and drove back home.

Once home, Nikki undressed and went to take a shower and I helped her wash her hair and then dry it off and styled it again in two little braids. Then we ate some sandwiches for lunch and hurried to plant our new plants on the balcony. This was the best part of the day besides watching her take a shower, and I showed her how it's done properly. Finally after an hour of potting and getting dirty with the earth she declared the flowers she chose herself were her own flowers and she was responsible for them. The only thing she was disappointed about was that the flowers were not in bloom yet. I told her it's still too early for them to flower and they'll probably open up in a few weeks.

In the afternoon we found some quiet time to snuggle on the couch. She was feeling tired from the soccer game so I cradled her in my lap and hugged her closer so I could whisper in her little ear how pretty she is. This made her all dreamy and sweet and I asked her what would she like to do for the rest of the day and she said she would like to go to the movies with me. I asked her isn't she too tired for the movies and she only smiled and shook her head. Then I said jokingly, "Then I don't need to hold you any longer if you are not tired," and she only braced me with her hands even stronger as if I was really going to let her down from my hug.

So after a few more minutes of cuddles and lip kisses, she let me go find the newspaper to check what's playing in the cinemas. We spread the newspaper on the bed and tried to decide what to see and then we picked the Jungle Book 2 because we saw the first one together too and there was nothing else too interesting to see. We dressed up and hurried to catch an early screening at 6pm.

That was pretty much all we did that day. The movie was fun and Nikki enjoyed watching it and we talked about it all the way home. For the rest of the evening we played games on the computer until midnight when I finally convinced her it was time to get some sleep. Now that we freely share one bed it's so much fun to sleep with her. It's still too cold unfortunately so we both had our pajamas on but I look forward to summer days when we will sleep naked together in one bed.

On Sunday we woke up late, had breakfast and talked about soccer and the girls on her team. Then she rushed to the balcony to check on her flowers and then back in the kitchen where she slipped and fell and grazed her knee. I picked her up and she said I had to put a band aid on her knee or she would die from her "wound". I smiled at her pretend injury and sat her down on the table. I love paying attention to her pretty legs so I didn't want to pass up this opportunity. I gently massaged her calves and then stuck a little band aid to her knee. She yelled, "Thank you!" and jumped back on the floor. I said, "Be careful!" to her but I don't think she was listening to me anymore because she ran back out on the balcony almost knocking down a chair.

I thought it would be best to go out with her so she could run around as much as she wanted. There is a school ground a short walk away where each Sunday people hold a flea market so we decided to go there with our bicycles and maybe find something interesting to buy. On the way there Nikki told me about one girl on her soccer team who lives with her two moms. This came as a surprise to me but she said she doesn't know anything else about the girl. I asked her what was her name and she said Erin. Then I asked her if she would like to live with two moms but she only shrugged her shoulders.

At the flea market we saw lots of people and children. There was a grass area where a band was playing and little kids were running around. We locked our bicycles and strolled around looking for something unusual to buy but neither of us knew what we were looking for. Then finally Nikki spotted a pretty shoulder bag she said she could use for school so I bought it for her. We slowly moved then to the grass area to watch the band. We sat down on the grass and watched some street performers do various tricks and then Nikki went on her own to play with a puppy she saw on the other end of the ground. She soon met some other kids there and they started playing with the puppy. There was one little girl in the group who had her hair dyed green and red. I think her parents were in the group of street artists. She was very pretty and I was hoping Nikki would come with her and introduce her and then they would play some more but she left soon after and I didn't see her again.

It was a sunny day so we didn't hurry to go back home but when Nikki became hungry she came back to me and I bought us some Chinese lunches. Then we rode our bikes to the park where we looked at some ducks swimming in the lake but by that time it was becoming colder so we returned home in the early afternoon. There isn't much else to tell because we didn't do anything unusual or important to write about.

On the Easter weekend I picked her up early and because she didn't have soccer practice that Saturday we drove home and had breakfast. The weather was really bad. It was cold and raining so we didn't plan to go anywhere outside. We just watched TV all weekend or played games on the computer or slept until late and then fooled around in bed with some interesting results. One morning I woke her up with a kiss to her lips. She smiled in her sleep and then turned around and continued sleeping. Later I uncovered her and unbuttoned her pajamas and then dropped a couple of drops of chocolate syrup on her chest and tummy. She was half asleep so she could feel it and when I kissed her and licked the little drops off her skin she giggled and then laughed because it tickled her when I did it. We even messed up her pajamas a little with chocolate so I had to wash them or her mom might see it and ask some funny questions. Later we took a long hot bath and I washed the traces of chocolate from her skin. At one point she became bored and left the bath all wet and naked and walked like that all the way into the room to find some toys so we could play with them in the bathroom.

This we did on Sunday morning and later we went to her home for Easter lunch with her mom and dad. I stayed with them until the afternoon and before I went back home, Nikki and I kissed goodbye until the next time. This coming weekend I invited some of my friends for my birthday party so it will be great to have Nikki with me at the same time.

I haven't heard from Ella but someone I know said she was doing well. Maybe one day we will speak again but I guess some time needs to pass before that happens. Nikki is all I care about now. She has grown a lot and it's just beautiful to see her go around and grow up. I hope she doesn't change because she's only a year away from becoming a teenager and it can be a difficult time.
