Sub-category codes This archive is based on that found in the ASSTR FAQ, expanded by Jade McMahon, 2/12/2002. The Codes 1: Sex, Age, and Number of Participants M = adult male. MM = two adult males (therefore precise numbers specified by number of letters) M+ = multiple adult males, number either too large to specify, or uncertain m = male 13-17 years old mm = two males 13-17 years old m+ = multiple males 13-17 years old b = male under 13 years old bb = two males under 13 years old b+ = multiple males under 13 years old F = adult female (multiples as with males above) f = female 13-17 years old (multiples as with males above) g = female under 13 years old (multiples as with males above) Sexual activity between the participants is shown by placing them next to each other, with the older (or more �in control�) party being placed first, for example: MF = adult heterosexual sex ff = teen lesbian sex M+F = several men and one woman, all adults MF+ = one man and several women, all adults Fm = adult female with teenaged male f+ = group teen lesbian sex f+f = multiple teen lesbians gang-banging teen female Where multiple partners are present it may sometimes be clearer to define who is doing what to whom, using ~ to represent �with� (/ is sometimes used instead, but this is more properly used in BDSM stories � see below), for example: MMM~f = 3 adult men gang-banging a teenaged girl M~f+ = adult man with multiple teenaged girls at once M~mf = adult man has sex with both a teen boy and a teen girl at the same time Mm~f = adult man and a teen boy both have sex with a teen girl at the same time MF+m~g = adult male, multiple adult females, and a teenaged male gang-banging a young girl (NB, �at the same time� just means in the same bit of the story, not necessarily at the same exact moment) 2: Willingness or otherwise blackmail = gaining sex through threat of exposure (aka bm) blackm. = as blackmail above (does not mean �black male�) cons = consensual sex (only used if non-consensual sex somewhere else in the story) nc = non-consensual (rape by any other name, but less specific description) rape = rape (specific description of the �held down and forced� type of situation) mc = mind-control (eg, hypnosis, drugs, etc.) reluc = reluctant (party coerced, but ends up liking it) rom = romantic sex (or occasionally situation). Not cannibalism. voy = voyeurism, peeking (wife-watching is separate) wife = wife watching (participatory cuckoldry) ws = water sports (pissing and piss-drinking) zoo = zoophilia � consensual sexual relationships between humans and animals (not beast) While authors should always include as much detail in their codes as possible, it is considered very bad �netiquette� to not include codes detailing the more extreme subjects that crop-up in stories, such as nc, snuff, scat, etc., and these should be regarded as mandatory if featured in the story. 6: Miscellaneous 1st = first time doing specified activity (eg, oral 1st). If nothing specified, cherry popping. bibl = based on a Bible story. caution = author�s warning � something in the story might offend (or even sicken) you celeb = involving a celebrity coll = college-theme or setting dream = sexual activity during a dream (daydream or sleep) goth = gothic setting (eg, vampires, horror, etc.) hist = history � occurs in the reasonably distant past hor = horror-themed story hs = high-school theme humor = humour � the story isn�t meant to be serious job = place-of-work theme nosex = there is no actual intercourse in the story (may be other kinds of sex) real = supposedly true story (aka true) school = school age characters or general school setting SciFi = science fiction setting tv = television show parody (eg, Star Trek characters when they�re off-duty) 7: Sub-category codes Gay: With regard to exclusively gay stories, the following are sometimes used: t = teenage male bear = hairy male (eg, Grizzly Adams) twink = young and hairless-type (eg, boy-bands) BD/SM: With regard to mainly BDSM-based stories, age is sometimes replaced by relationship status: M = male dominant m = male submissive F = female dominant f = female submissive Therefore: Mf = male dominant over a female submissive If age is to be included in the gender code, such stories may use an oblique (/) to denote the relationship status � those on the left are dominating those on the right: Mf/m = adult male and teenaged female dominating a teenaged male. Interracial: With regard to inter-racial stories, a code denoting the race of the participant is sometimes also added: BC = black couple BF = black adult female BM = black adult male WC = white couple WF = white adult female WM = white adult male AC = asian couple AM = asian adult male AF = asian adult female �Asian� in these cases is the accepted American use of the word, meaning oriental, rather than the European use meaning Indian or Pakistani.
